If I could give main library a no star I would. The main library look like an run down motel wear same people use the main library for sleeping, lounge and they get to use the computer for hours with staffs allow it. Each time I went into the main you saw only men setting lounges coughing, spitting and sleeping. I never saw any kids I can understand; I wouldn't bring my child to main library not kids or women friendly only friendly to a certain group of people. I heard that how main library operate before I ever visited the main library but I had to see for myself so what I heard was true. If main library got 3 stars person must be a relative, friends or employees who works at main library. This is why some of social media is screen reviews that peeople posting because friends and employees is posting good reviews when infact the company or agency don't get customers satisfaction. Main library is one of the worst library I visited in US. I have visited lots library

I am a regular visitor to the Tony Hillerman branch and my experiences have always been fruitful and pleasant. Today, I had an extraordinarily nice response when I called to the information desk at the Main Library. I had been unable to find an answer myself. They searched and then recommended I call special collections. I did and got a prompt, informative answer to my question. I had asked for whom Hurley Park in Albuquerque had been named. The initial phone receptionist, the young woman at the information line, and at special collections were ALL pleasant, helpful and eager to help answer my question. My thanks to each of you. I was WOWED at this wonderful example of customer (citizen) service.

It's dingy and crowded with some rather unsavory characters. I feel uncomfortable going to this branch. I've visited several of the other branch locations across the city and they are much nicer with a better selection. I'm not sure why they even have a juvenile section as there are never any children in this library. If I were a parent I wouldn't bring my child here either so I guess I can understand. Check the catalog online before visiting and if the material you are looking for can be found at any other location, do yourself and your senses a favor and get it anywhere else but here.

I use the private study rooms for my photography, business calls and meetings but there are so many homeless there and they constantly are watching, washing clothes or the police are called due to misbehavior. On another note, there are many wonderful staff and thank goodness for security. There's a substantial amount of books, newspapers and magazines. During the rest of our visit in New Mexico we'll continue to use their library with the hopes things change so others can enjoy some study time.

Secretly Impressive. You might me fooled by the bland exterior of the building that there isn't much to see here. But a quick scroll of the facility and you realize just how much it has to offer: Downstairs bookstore and auditorium, Genealogy section upstairs. Playful childlike art and other Hispanic inspired mural type paraphernalia fill all the rooms. I wish it had a few more books but beggars can't be choicy.

I barely go to the library and it showed by my big stack of fees from a couple of long-forgotten books, but the librarians were so nice and helpful, the place is nice and clean, and i like to utilize the printer in an age it's too expensive to buy my own so they'll always get a good rating from me - i just couldn't tell you anything about the book selection. love the natural plants and ambience!

The wifi does not have a strong connection and it appears as though the carpet and chairs have not been updated since the 1970's. There is of course a large gathering of loud, obnoxious adults on cell phones as can be expected at any downtown library location throughout this country. There is no free parking at this location, which is disappointing given the state of this facility.

Spacious. Great little bookstore in lower level, 11am-4pm Mon-Sat with like-new books for $2 to $3. Good for gifts. Large bank of computers & I have never had to wait. Only downside is the main library has some homeless/street people in the area. I've always found everyone to be respectful & polite but you have to keep your belongings in sight at all times.

If I ever get bored I know just the place to go, the library! It always fills me with more ideas for things to do I usually have months of ideas to do. Maybe I'm old fashioned but these smart phones have made us dumber, my new year resolution this year is to learn the important phone numbers & to Google half as much! …

Nice and peaceful good place to relax for a spell though if you are looking for a good read choose wisely as if it is a multi-book series it may be difficult to find the whole series. As it was a Saturday that I went it was not busy or crowded and there were plenty of open computers to use. All in all a very nice place.

The Main branch of the public library is fine, perfunctory, and acceptable. A patron can check out books, interlibrary loan books, and use computers--that is about it. This branch is desperately in need of a renovation and enlivening. I do recommend the second floor computer lab for scanning and genealogical needs.

Nice librarians, the air conditioning is a welcome oasis in a prolong band of shadowless cement & asphalt on a hot summer day in the high desert. The water fountain was cool for a thirsty soul and I appreciated the papier-mâché sharks that were reminiscent of Hawai’i and Bernini’s work. They will validate parking.

Awesome branch of an amazing library system! The people who work here are excellent and always willing to help you out with any questions you may have! Plus there are always amazing displays to look at and learn from. Also has an excellent genealogical section that covers more than just New Mexico.

Big open Library. We went to the children's area downstairs in the afternoon on a Thursday and no one was there. It was awesome! They even have public bathrooms in the children's area that are only for kids and their parents, so they are safer and cleaner! Good selection of books and DVDs.

  • Met Fraser

The staff are excellent and really nice, and they get in new stuff all the time. There are transients, but they generally leave others alone and not get in anyone's way. Lots of public computers, and they also loan out passes to museums around town. All in all a really good place.

I miss the old library, I went to it a long time ago and this is what I saw (the old library), but now there is this building, and it’s just ugly and it doesn’t feel very welcoming, but I don’t know maybe I’m just bitter…

  • Stacey Harger

Nice friendly staff. Great at following Covid precautions. Bi-level. Free two parking in garage kitty corner. Easy to pick up holds. Computer use limiting amount to provide generous space. Nice atmosphere.

  • Mr C

Staff's always friendly and helpful, but Main is overrun with indigents who are noisy and don't follow rules. Both staff and security tolerate this. If you've a choice, go to another library!

  • Paula Martinez

Very nice library!! They have computers there to use, get copies. The Lady up front was Very Helpful!! Highly recommend!! They do charge for copies though. Reasonable prices though.

  • mary

  • Eric G Gutierrez

  • Samuel Lee

I LOVE THIS LIBRARY! In fact THIS IS THE LARGEST LIBRARY I've been to. NOTE: if you are afraid of heights you will be scared. -From one who is afraid of heights.

  • Abiyam Abimelech-Ya'Oh

Not quit open for business just yet. They will let you use the facilities and or just cool off for about 15 minutes. That's it. No sitting or anything else.

  • Alan Lesene

There is a security guard here who likes to harass people. He has a buzz cut and wears glasses. He especially harasses the homeless population.

  • Crazy Crafters

Great groups for kids! My teenage daughter started one recently and it was fantastic and she had a blast! The staff were friendly and helpful.

  • Herman J

Large, spacious and attractive library. Also, check out the once a month book sale. Picture is $6 worth of books and movies I picked up today!

  • Mikey Westside

  • Glen Richards

Easy parking and a building filled with knowledge just waiting for you to absorb. Helpful and friendly staff. What are you waiting for?

  • melody Serrano

The downstairs section was closed. They had no selection for kids at all . A complete waste of time if you're there for children!
