This was a cute little neighborhood store with friendly customer service and good selection of foods. Last week was a different story. It was strange that they now have a security guard dressed like a cop. I was at the deli and I waited for 10 minutes before a short white (using race as descriptors) guy finally paid attention. I asked when the deli closed after seeing all the food covered with Saran Wrap. Soon, a tall African American woman with braids retorted that they were closed. I told her that I came there many times previously and they were open at the same time. She said they closed early. I asked for specific time. The woman scoffs and says “NOW.” I told one of the cashiers about the deli woman’s customer service and he listened and looked over at another employee who came over to his register. Keagan (name on tag) said that was not okay for her to treat a customer that way and talked for a while and that she would inform the manager and took down my name and number. Later I went to get some produce (and the organic mushrooms stank after I opened the wrap at home). Keagan was friendly and warm and apologized again during check out. There was a short white woman who was the bagger and she wasn’t bagging while she blocked the items I purchased. I told her I had my own bag. She gave a weird and cold stare while she finally started bagging the items. Overall, it was terrible customer service from most of employees that day. The manager never called. I called their phone number listed on webpage and no one picked up. I left a message on one of owners (Greg) voicemail and he never returned my call. It’s too bad that the cute neighborhood store turned into this.

The owner is a very humble and kind human. The employees are really nice and have great customer service. I've been going to Marketime 2-3 times per day for over 2 years. The quality of the deli and prepared foods have gradually gone down hill in that time. This month has been the most drastic change yet. The prepared salads look the same as the old ones in their plastic containers, but once you mix the salad together, the proportions are way different. Now, you're paying a ridiculous price for 97% lettuce and 3% toppings. All the salads I've purchased in the last few weeks have had soaking wet lettuce. It's really gross on the day it was prepared, even worse soggy factor days later when it's still valid to sell. Not to mention they're also closing an hour earlier each night to save on costs. Sad times for the upper Fremont community.

*Good price on Sunshine brand gallon of milk. :) Otherwise, you pay higher prices for most food items at Marketime than nearby "big box" stores such as Fred Meyer or Safeway. *Great for those times when you want to get in and out fast and don't mind paying a bit more for the convenience. *Parking lot is easy to navigate and not crowded. :) *Good quality, fresh, pre- wrapped deli sandwiches are tasty and reasonably priced. *Fast checkout. *Nice staff. *Good selection of reasonably priced wines. *Relaxed, small, corner store, non-corporate vibes.

After many more trips here, I thought it was time to update my review. Marketime offers superior quality food. Their hot bar food are all of great quality and full of flavor. Their cold reheat to eat foods are also my favorites. I get their sandwiches often. Great beverage, fresh produce and cheese selection. House-made dessert is delicious as well. Customer service is always quick and friendly. Overall, they have great selections for everything you want and is small enough that you can get in and out quickly. Highly recommend.

Great store! The owners Bill and Ben are stand up guys and boy is that Ben a handsome fellow, too bad it looks like there is a ring on it already. The staff in the deli section we’re some of the most professional and fun loving food experts I’ve seen in all my many days. They reminded me of the power of that old adage: when true friends come together, no flavor is unattainable. Plus there is a blonde guy who ain’t too hard on the eyes and seems to just really have a great head on his shoulders. 12/10 would recommend.

Love this place. Everything is just right. I am accustomed to excellent customer service, a great selection of ready made chef quality foods and a parking lot that doesn't leave you irritated just navigating through it. Great coffee and naturally on the immediate right side when walking in and say nothing of their wonderful wine selection and witty shelf talkers. At the check out there is an artful display of hard alcohol ready to go home with you should it be Friday night..or Tuesday on a sunny afternoon.

Marketime Foods is a great locally-owned grocery store with an awesome product selection for its size. They've got lots of prepared foods, produce, and local products. I'll often pick up lunch here on my way to work; they have yummy grab-and-go sandwiches, a deli counter, and a small hot bar. Make sure to check out their beer cave: I have a hard time leaving without some beer in my bag! I love shopping local and Marketime makes it easy with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff.

  • Maya & Jaz [Byzantiq]

The place overall is fantastic. Friendly, hilarious staff. Awesome wine selection, they even stock sake. Incredible beer selection, woof! Variety of foods to choose from, hella vegan-friendly. I have literally only one grief about this location... I have found hairs in their ready-made foods from the meatloaf, the salads, to the soups, and the fresh sandwiches. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I no longer peruse that section because I'm not up to the gamble.

This is an upscale grocery store with a lot of in house produced goods. Meals to go, excellent beer, wine selection. Very nice produce and cheese section, and a lot of salsas. Grab and go sandwiches, good candy aisle. Lots of frozen delights, and a beer cave too. Like a miniature Ballard Market, but in Fremont. Check out their meat aisle, too! There's also a clearance shelf in the back of the produce section, just so you know.

Never know if I should call this place a corner store or a full on grocery store. It's somewhere in between and is an invaluable part of the neighborhood! Reasonable prices and frequent sales. Great prepared food section and alcohol selection. Lots of local offerings as well as basic standbys. I don't necessarily do all of my grocery shopping here but it's great in a pinch and for holding me over between big grocery runs.

  • Brianne Burnett

Love having this neighborhood grocer to walk to. The prices are definitely more expensive that other spots, but the convenience outweighs the need for immediate items. Staff is always very friendly and the deli counter is a great deal with amazing food. I wish they had a DogSpot outside for you to run in and safely have your pup in a secured kennel. QFC in U Ville has one and it's so handy.

  • Jesse Conlan

I love this little grocery store. They cycle through new products often, and have a decent selection of vegan options. Occasionally, there is a new vegan sandwich at the deli but sadly it isn't there consistently. I know it would definitely be bought a lot more if it was there every day. Hopefully the deli manager will soon see the value in having options for everyone consistently :)

My favorite grocery store in Seattle! Prices are comparable to Met Market/PCC most of the time but I have found things to be on the cheaper side on occasion. It’s a bit out of budget but we do almost all our weekly shopping here. The store just makes you feel calm! It makes me feel like I am in a small town versus a city. The checkers are also all very nice, efficient, and friendly.

  • Cesar Rufo

I gotta say it...Marketime is pretty awesome. Great selection available, especially when it comes to fresh produce. Super friendly staff. They are so attentive - waiting in line is almost non-existent, I’m in and out so quickly. Love the hot food bar and sandwiches they prepare there — perfect for those days before we go on a hike or a picnic. Love my friendly neighborhood grocery!

I have shopped this Grocery Store on a regular basis. Have found a delightful choice of products. Also, the owners and employees are very helpful with choices of products and services. Also will listen to a customers thoughts and suggestions. If you should be in the area stop by our Neighborhood Market (Market Time) and you will be pleased with the family friendly grocery.

  • Narasimha G

This is kind of a neighborhood store that I would like to have. Yes, it's pricier than large retail stores like FredMeyer or QFC, but I have always found quality stuff and I have always found what I am looking for. Right from household stuff like Dairy, grocery, coffee, beer, wine, fruits, veggies to frozen items to go food etc., This is a mini wholefoods in itself

  • Nida Kidwai

I wish they would sell or give masks near the entrance. It's hard enough remembering all the stuff I need to enter a market but to have to go all the way back home to get my mask is quite ridiculous. Otherwise, great store great buys nice cashier named Reagan who was very helpful at the checkout. Thank you Reagan for balancing out my experience with your kindness.

  • melek twelve

A lot of new staff who are much more congenial than a year ago. Canned, dry, produce, and pre-packaged deli goods still obscenely priced (hence their neighborhood nickname of Market Crime) Apparently they don't realize QFC is a 7 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. But if you're feeling lazy, it's an okay store. Just bring a seriously well padded wallet.

  • Nikolas Palladino

This grocery store as well as Kens Market in Phinney Ridge make it hard to imagine leaving Seattle. I consider these stores my own personal commissary. Filled with awesome homemade prepared meals at an amazing value and all the groceries that you need in a pinch. Such a great business, such great employees and such great food. So thankful.

  • P Lenee Hicks

Wonderful choices! The food bar choices were tempting, but they didn't lid anything so it was all dried out. I grabbed some AMAZING Thai Chicken Soup and a couple of sandwiches. The salmon sandwich wasn't exciting but the flavors in the Salami and Ham sandwich was fantastic! The prices were great for the quality, but still kinda dear

  • Kasey Stonehill

Great hot and prepackaged food, wine, and single-bottle beer selection, but it's not your "everyday" grocery store. It's like someone made a grocery store out of all the fanciest stuff at Whole Foods. Want baking soda, white flour, or olive oil? Out of luck. Want all variety of cheeses, fresh kumquats, or high-end ghee? Have at it!

  • Christina Bucur

I really like this place - great staff, good selection of fresh fruit and veggies, I can walk there from my house - it's practically a dream. I have to give it 4 stars though because the selection of canned goods, like beans, sauces, and the like, can be slim and the prices are inflated quite a bit. Everything else is fantastic.

  • Aileen Baker

Great neighborhood market offering a little bit of everything--groceries, cleaning supplies, alcohol and prepared foods. The prices are steep in comparison to other grocery stores, but the convenience of being walking distance is nice. Also, the prepared foods are top-notch delicious and the staff always friendly and cheerful.

  • Joshua Tarbuck

What an amazing place to shop! Not only was the staff very patient with my son wanting to gain the full experience of helping daddy put groceries on the counter they even waited to let him pay! We all know how toddlers may be and this store is worth every penny! Positive vibes your way and may all your wishes come true today!

  • Jonathon Loos

Surprisingly well-stocked selection of groceries, meats and produce from a neighborhood market. I find myself there for the ready-made foods more than anything. Great offerings of sandwiches, breakfast items and full dinner meals, everything I've had has been delicious and freshly made! Staff are always pleasant as well.

  • Caroline Gilbert

The BEST little neighborhood grocery store! It's not big, but the selection is still reallyy good. Lots of local brands, great grab and go food, fresh produce and an awesome little wine isle with helpful handwritten notes! Some stuff is marked up and a little pricey (especially frozen foods), but no more than PCC.

  • geremy condra

Great little neighborhood grocery store with excellent preprepared meals and a lot of local foods. Prices are more comparable to Whole Foods than QFC, but quality seems a notch or two higher than either. The only exception would be their meat section, which is adequate but not at the level of a dedicated butcher.

  • Ellen Poe

For a long time this was a really cute neighborhood store, but just like all of the other grocery stores in town they recently posted a fake cop with a real gun right outside. What are you going to do, shoot me for picking a bad wine+cheese pairing? Fremont is not a war zone, there is no need for armed security.

  • Jordan Hilliard

A long-standing local favorite, Marketime Foods is a sure bet for most of your day-to-day grocery needs. While their selection may not be as comprehensive as some of the larger chains (QFC, Safeway, etc.), the local vibe and quality of what they do carry is top notch. Not to mention they have a killer beer cave.

  • Nick Albanese

I love Marketime. It has just about any food item you can think of, and there is typically one or two organic options and one or two regular options. The wine and produce selections are very good and overall this little store punches well above it's weight. There are also very good pre made food options.

  • Cindy Johnson

Quite possibly the greatest grocery store in existence. This neighborhood gem has a friendly staff, and so many wonderful items packed into a small space. It's well organized with outstanding customer service. The prepackaged small portion sizes are also nice when just cooking for one or two. Love it!!!

  • Eve Theo

price gauging, dishonest and a couple of terribly rude employees who taint the great service of all the rest. Ben one of the owners is a two faced coward, plus i’ve caught him charging a sugar tax on water and then trying to justify it; they did not charge the same tax at pcc on exactly the same item.

  • Holly Bennett

Great selection of local and organic options, also plenty of in-house freshly prepared lunch or dinner items for the busy working commuter crowds in the neighborhood. Prices are appropriate for the type of healthy and organic fare so buy your toilet paper and canned tomatoes elsewhere :)

  • Nathaniel Oxford

Marketime is a great neighborhood store that carries a lot of your basic household items, plus fantastic specialty items! The owners work in the store, and the focus is on customer service. So, what one item keeps me going back, even though I don't live in the neighborhood? Sprouts!

  • Paul Tracey

Delicious hot bar food (samples available), great, friendly service. Today they had a local bbq sauce purveyor there with hot pulled pork in two different bbq sauces for tasting. Outstanding local coffee selection, produce, deli, beer and wine. Easy parking. Highly recommended!

  • Liam Polk

Nice little grocery with a good variety of stuff and a huge selection of drinks (both alcoholic and not). Some produce is extremely overpriced - especially fruit and mushrooms - but vegetables are fairly reasonable and it's very convenient to pick up a few things for dinner.

  • Nabilah Sullivan

For this supermarket, five stars! Their customer support was prompt. Their workers were well treated with their clients. Since they had everything I wanted, it was quite convenient. A location for one-stop shopping to go! The cashier was incredibly patient. Terrific support!

  • Josia Evans

Super convenient and they have a great selection of products. Not just the everyday brands but also some of the harder to find stuff. Oh and their deli and prepared foods are seriously epic. Absolutely worth checking them out for lunch or for grab and go snacks. …

  • Josh Ryder

An excellent local grocery that has good pre made deli sandwiches, pretty ok pickles, house made kombucha, a small and moderately expensive produce section, and a wide selection of beer and wine available for purchase. Definitely nice to have in the neighborhood!

  • Joshua Coffee

It's a small locally owned neighborhood grocery store with good healthy selections. Great staff. The only knock I see with other reviews are the prices. But this place isn't Safeway or Walmart. I'll gladly pay a little more to support local small businesses.

  • Chris Thistlethwaite

Awesome local store with plenty of selection. Lots of local product and just enough name brand to fill in the blanks. The folks working there are super nice and very helpful, though the store is laid out well so it's easy to find things without assistance.

  • John Hunter

This is an amazing small, local store that has been around forever! They have so many good local products and an impressive beer selection. The deli and meat section have seriously great choices no matter what you are looking for, all in this small store.

  • Conner Kasten

Great local grocery with a surprisingly good selection given its size. A nice middle ground on cost, without sacrificing quality. The prepared foods are delicious as well. I've gotten things there I would have been delighted to get from a restaurant.

  • Jordyn Richey

My favorite local grocery store! Everyone there is super helpful and friendly, and they have a great selection of local stuff. Incredibly good deli section (we pick up one of their delicious sandwiches everytime we go hiking) and great coffee.

  • Bahram Banisadr

Fantastic neighborhood grocery store with everything you need, great quality, and a very friendly staff. Hot bar is always delicious. Prices are a bit higher than a major supermarket like Fred Meyers but you get quality and convenience for it.

  • Lauren Martin

We joke that we don't really understand how it's possible because it's small... But Marketime always has what we need! Great selection, especially given its footprint. Friendly service, reasonable prices, and great toasted sandwiches/paninis

  • Alexander King

The recently renovated (in 2015) market is perfect for last minute grocery trips. Their food more expensive that QFC or Safeway, but totally worth it for how close it is. They are always really friendly and they have a great beer selection!

  • Georgie Gina Hollenbeck

I LOVE this local owned mom and pop grocery store. They are a great asset to this neighborhood and help the local community and have a very loving environment. It’s like Cheers everyone knows each other and they always have a smile for you.

  • Logan HZG Lauren

Excellent neighborhood grocery. I can get all I need, including vegetarian and dairy free options, deli and toiletries. It might look small from the outside, but there's quite a good selection. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

  • John G

It is a charming, nicely located and welcoming market very close to our HomeAway vacation rental. This market has prepared food, very nice produce and kombucha brewed in the store plus many other things. Priceless market close to home.

  • Adam Martin

This little grocery store has everything you need and nothing more! Great selection of the things that matter, like produce, meats, and ready-to-eat food. Fantastic beer selection! My favorite place to get groceries.

  • Lian Weiland

The only place I can find Parisian Star sourdough bread from Essential Baking Co. This item alone brings me here on a regular basis. Also, if you've caught on to Kewpie Mayonnaise, you can buy that here too!

  • Shana Gitnick

Small local upscale grocery with a great selection of fresh produce. Prices are higher than QFC, but the mix of staples and organic products makes it a useful place to shop when in a hurry. Masks required.

  • Gary T.

This is a wonderful store. Great selection. Produce is beautiful and the store is full of happy employees. Not as cheap as larger stores but I'm really glad they're here. Been going here for 30 years now.

  • Paisley Gray

Love love love this place, the deli food is so good! I always make a point to stop in here when I'm in Fremont, they have great unique items that can't be found elsewhere (like that awesome garlic sauce)

  • Franny Wright

I never knew I could love a little grocery so much I would buy a bunch of their merch . My fiancé and I shop here multiple times a week. The employees are all so wonderful and the selection is unreal.

  • Amos Block

Great selection, their in house foods are delicious, shockingly good prices on liquor (I'm here to pump them, not brand, but they sell my favorite at almost wholesale prices), and wonderful staff!

  • David Kelley

This is my favorite grocery store hands down. The staff here is awesome and treat everyone really well. I don't know what I'd do if this place wasn't around. Thanks for being great Marketime!

  • Julia Baker

Awesome selection of specialty ice cream, deli, baked goods n' booze. Beautifully maintained produce section with unique items like elephant garlic. Check out their walk-in beer/cider fridge!

  • Anthony Marucci

Very pricey and small, limited options. They do have a good beer and wine selection however. The hot bar does not label things well at all and it's entirely unclear if something is vegan.

  • Valeria Valiente

Try the market made salads (sesame chicken is my fave.) Try their deli sandwiches too. Everyone who works here is friendly and fast. I love shopping here because it's easy in, easy out.

  • Brett Worrall

I love Marketime! A deluxe quickie Mart with a little parking lot in a convenient location. Tons of great food, produce, drinks, snacks. Been dropping into this place for over 25 years!

  • Stephen Crain

One of my favorite things about living in upper fremont is being able to walk to market time foods! Always great sandwiches. You're very likely to find whatever you need …

We love Marketime. Yes, some things are very pricy but the quality is always good. If you want an easy lunch they have so many hot/cold options that are good and good for you!

  • Joshua Merry

I come here every day for lunch or dinner. Amazing prepared food. Quality. Never gets boring. I like to go and be surprised by what delicious soups are available.

  • Luke Bayne

WIDE variety of organic healthy products. Huge selection of kombuchas, several of them local. Also plenty of your standard grocery store brands and products.

Curated smaller grocery perfect for the Fremont area. Impressive cheese and beer selection, don't neglect the wine aisle. Workers here are so friendly!

  • Martin Cahn

Great friendly neighborhood grocery store. It is amazing how many items and variety that they're able to put in a small store. Quality is top rate

Great little shop, but a bit expensive for some things. I love the fresh fruit cups and salads, though, so I treat myself a few times a month.
