Martin's has one of my favorite sandwiches in the city! I always get the "Californian"! I know it's terrible that I am not branching out, but it's just so good that I can't resist getting anything else! The Californian is made up of oven-roasted turkey, Havarti, avocado, sprouts, cucumbers, tomato, Creole mustard & mayo and I always get it on their 7-grain bread. They also have a liquor store built into the space, so it's nice to grab a glass of wine with lunch or another favorite of mine would be Barq's. They also have wonderful baked goods such as carrot cake, which is FABULOUS! This is a great place for lunch and also a great stop if you need to buy some booze (they have very reasonable prices). They are pretty quick with their service, but they do have a long line around lunch time.

Great place in the city to buy wine, beer, and spirits! The staff here is very friendly and super helpful. They also have a wonderful deli with a very tasty Reuben sandwich! You can top off that Reuben with a bottled coke (my personal favorite) or a glass of wine. My husband's all time favorite salad is the Sena salad. They host some really fun and informative events every month, and we never have a party without at least one trip to Martins. They are the perfect place to get all kinds of party "supplies". We used to live a couple blocks from Martin Wine Cellar and I have to say it was probably the hardest part of moving. We only moved a few minuets away and still visit frequently, but man we miss our afternoon walks to Martins.

Unfortunately did not have a good experience. Ordered 2 sandwiches and waited over 40 minutes to get them. It was lunch time and they were busy but people were processing through. At about 20 min I asked if it was ready they said not yet, checked back again at about 35 min they said about 5 more minutes. Checked again at 40 minutes and stayed at the counter and the second sandwich was finally ready and they handed me the food. No sorry for the wait, thank you for waiting, nothing. I am happy to see places doing well but for me once you have no concern for customer service you are not an establishment worth frequenting. The only reason I did not give a 1 is because the sandwiches were tasty.

From specialist orders to basic food and drinks, Martin's really is a gem. First, they don't really advertise how delicious their food is, and they should. Second, they have obscure (and delicious) liquor, beyond the quality wines at decent prices. They have always had a bottle of my favorite mezcal when I've needed it, and at this point I feel like someone is taking notice... Which I'm excited about. Third and finally, every time I'm in there every employee is pleasant and helpful, or goes above and beyond. They're seating area lends itself well to local wine clubs and communal drinking (the best kind). It's a disservice to yourself not going here.

Not a diverse atmosphere. Building is nice. The building was located in the middle of a lower income homes. The location wasn't the issue. All the upfront staff was white. All of the staff fixing the food in the back was black. When you walk in you see all the brown/black people sitting in one area. I get it people can choose where they sit but the environment is not inviting. With the officer there I wonder if they have him the facility to keep order in the market or keeping certain people out. Food was average and they did have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages but I would not purchase anything from there. My family will not be coming back.

Go here on the regular but today was a sad day.. my client and I waited 58 minutes for his Cuban sandwich.. very busy today causing an already extremely un-organized ordering and receiving of order process chaotic and piss poor. Multiple other tables had the same issue. Not good for new business... after checking in on the order after 35 minutes a young man said he had no clue what was in fact going on.. the orders are whispered out by name at the counter with 100 plus people and noise going on which is a confusing dysfunctional pick up system. Please do better as this was pathetic.

All the rave. Yes, the food is good. There hasn’t been one thing that I’ve gotten from there that has been a poor choice. So far, I’ve tried the bagel breakfast, bacon and egg sandwich, the spinach and chicken (maybe too much spinach ), this other salad, with pulled chicken.. that was really good and the Lisa Ruben (liked, but a Ruben should really only be made with corn beef ). We live right next door, so probably go all the time. Oh... key point... prices are okay, but eating out frequently gets to be pricey regardless of where you go.

I love Martin's! I know nothing about wine and when I was hosting a dinner and serving Vietnamese food, they steered me to some amazing wine that really complimented the food. Last summer I had a house catastrophe that put my dog and me into a hotel for a month. To keep from getting scurvy from takeout food, I ate lunch there frequently. The food is so fresh and it made me feel alive again. The manager began to recognize me as a regular and would stop and say hello. Even now a year later he still greets me when I go in!

  • Kristy JJS

Vast selection of wines, spirits and mixers. There is also an area, towards the rear of the store, which serves made to order sandwiches of any kind. You can dine in or take it to go. Theres is also an area towards the front of the store where you can chill your wine or champagne while you shop and/or while your dining in. You should can check with the store and ask if they have and events for the month. There was recently a wine tasting/brunch. Delicious! The staff is friendly which is always an added plus!

  • Gloria Munguia Garcia

They have a super selection of spirits and wine at mostly competitive prices. I always find something interesting to take home with me to bolster my home bar. I’ve always been greeted and their staff has been attentive. They also have fantastic cake by the slice and a nice little section of cheeses. However, their muffuletta is disappointing. It has to be one of the worst in the city. Skip this altogether. Definitely come for the booze, the cake, but skip the muffuletta.

  • Andre Bassa

Martin's is a nice place to buy wine, deli and have a sandwich. There is a lot of turnover with the staff and sometimes not the most friendly people behind the food counter. Sandwiches taste good, however there is no consistency. For example, an executive club can be very good and a nice size and the next time you buy one the toast is burned and it's half the size it was before. And it's the same with a french connection or a deli de luxe . Arthur.

Right when i walked in the door, the food smelled amazing. My bf was in the hospital nearby, so i just got some pasta from the cooler so i could get to him quickly. When we heated it up, the cream sauce was just as creamy as it would be if they had cooked it right then. I bought some wine as well, (i was kinda stressed), and the prices were great, the amount of choices were immense, and every single employee i encountered was kind and helpful.

  • Elizabeth Ramoni

I grew up with Martin's (make of that what you will), and it still has the neighborhood wine shop feel. Helpful, friendly staff. Free wine tastings almost every Friday. My only complaint would be that they keep changing the layout, so about every 9 months or so, I have to re-learn where to find what I want. I definitely recommend Martin's, esp. to people in the neighborhood. It's also the cheapest place to get pretty much everything.

  • Donnie Simpson

Eat there often, however today the 1/2 muffalata sandwich was nothing but bread. Took one bite and returned to speak with restaurant manager, said he would make it again but I lost my appetite after getting the first. Usually I would rank 5 stars, however today was not enjoyed. It is a shame that one employee making the sandwich can cause me to write this. Either fire or educate the employee. 1/2 salad was excellent.

  • Johnny Blanchard

Our go-to spot on the Uptown parade route. We like to grab lunch and a beer here in between parades (and make use of the restrooms while we're at it). They also have a great selection of craft and international beers. Their liquor selection is one of the best in town and staff are generally pretty knowledgable. Sometimes they even have a few bottles open already to let you try before you buy. Great spot!

  • Elise Verheugen

Delicious, quick food. I was told they couldn’t take out the veggies I asked to be removed on my sandwich but received it without any of the ones I didn’t want! That’s great, awesome, quality service (whether they made it wholly new or did take out the veggies, they weren’t on the sandwich – fantastic and accommodating). Fun and happening atmosphere. But that little accommodation just made it.

  • Anandi Premlall

Pretty sweet selection of all sorts of spirits from around the world in uptown! The staff is very knowledgeable and responsive. I was very happy that they had Laird's Apple Brandy and pointed me to a high proof rum that's also good for healing and medicinal concoctions. It was pouring outside so I decided to stay for lunch. The sandwich was stuffed and delicious, as was the tall glass of lemonade.

  • Anthony Galindo

This place has a wide selection of just about everything. Their pricing is the cheapest that I have seen locally. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about their product. Going to any store like this you are going to spend money. Smart crooks know that too!! They have a security person in the lot watching everyone in/out of their car. Have not tried the food so I cannot comment.

  • Thomas Coates

Needed a place that delivered liquor to the French Quarter Hotels and reviews of this place sounded promising. Liked that they had a website and could actually see what they had in stock. Called, super friendly, super easy process to order what I wanted (bottle of Champagne for friends 50th birthday and get it to the birthday celebrantt. Definitely use this place.

  • Blake Sayre

Great selection of wines. We went after taking our daughter to the Zoo, and were hungry, so we were nicely surprised to see the deli in the back of the store. We had some delicious sandwiches and a couple of glasses of wine. As we waited for the food we were able to look over their cheese selection, and after we ate, we found some interesting wines to bring home.

  • Johannah White

Martin's is a real bonus to have in the neighborhood. Wonderful wine selection. I was looking for a special bottle as a birthday gift. I went in with list in hand and came out with my top choice and a nice selection for myself. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, but not pushy. Fantastic deli meats and cheeses appropriate for high end noshing. A very happy place!

  • cindy zapata

TERRIBLE customer service. We usually order lunch from here 2-3 times a month and recently we have had the worse luck with customer service. The most recent incident happen when I needed to place an order for 7 people and pay over phone because of the previous incident and I was told it was their "rush" hour and they could not take my order. NEVER GOING BACK!!

  • Dave Johnson

Great Place for a huge selection of wine, beer and liquor. Additionally some great selection of cheese and the deli has a great selection of food to chose from. Small area in back is a a great place to have a glass of wine and a small lunch! Highly recommend if you live in New Orleans and enjoy good wine and food to check out Martins Wine Cellar!

  • Deborah Brown

The knowledgeable and unassuming owner, Mr Martin is on site to offer up expert wine selection assistance and wonderful anecdotes about wines he's enjoyed over the years. They have excellent prices on great wine and spirits. Go in for wine stay for lunch or an afternoon snack. Martin's deli has great, fresh food and catering. Love this place!!

  • Charles Edward Lincoln III

Have been going here at least once a week since I discovered Martin's last Spring (2021). Been looking for excellent salad sandwiches and they have them. Beautiful, clean, very modern place. Does not seem like New Orleans at all except for the huge quantities of liquor. This place is not cheap, but it is classy and very pleasant.

  • Jean Smarto

My son got engaged to the love of his life while vacationing in NOLA last night. Marc P was amazing in helping me to surprise them and celebrate this big event in their lives! He put together and delivered Champagne and Champagne Flutes gift for me. Thank you again Marc! I greatly appreciated your extra effort today!!!

  • Kevin Kousha

My favorite place to shop for spirits in New Orleans-a great selection, including spirits that are often overlooked in other shops, like rum, and other often forgotten needs like orgeat and falernum. Competitively priced, competent staff, and good food in the back, including a small cheese and meat section in the back.

  • Karen Adams

Very nice place. Employees are friendly. Hope I enjoy my sandwich because the employees working behind the counter are not wearing hairnets, touching their hair and touching food/plates. A female is in the kitchen without hairnet. Employees working with food should wear hairnets and gloves.

  • Michael Cohn

The menu is greatly reduced from their expansive pre-Katrina situation. In addition, it is simply not as good as it used to be. However, the new building is great and the expanded selection of alcohol is much better. As an added plus, there is lots of parking making it easier to go there.

  • De Borah Wells

I am fairly new to the neighborhood, and was so happy to find this gem a few blocks from my place. They have a huge selection of wine and cheese, friendly helpful staff, delicious deli and entree offerings. I haven't had a chance to sit down and eat in the bistro but I will soon!

  • Terri Malone

Drove around to two other popular brunch spots in NOLA. What was I thinking? Long lines 1 hour or more long. I could have driven straight to a clean beautiful space with creative food and no wait. Once here, never gonna do that again. Love the new chef and all his creations. T.

  • Michael Adams

The deli is well done, plenty of space for eating in store. No table service but great food (sandwiches/salad) options. Takeout catering items also well done and easy. And of course a store name with "wine cellar" in it has an extensive top notch assortment of wine and spirits

  • Jamie P

My sister loves how they always have wedding cake they sell by the slice. This takes care of her sporadic cravings. We also tried the Italian Cream cake which was moist and delicious. I've made this cake at home and it always comes out tasty yet dry as a cracker.

  • Kristopher Embry

Fantastic selection of wine and booze, as well as singles of beer. The deli in the back has several good choices both healthy and unhealthy. Their burger is killer as is their chicken salad for sandwiches. They often have free wine tastings on Friday's at 430 pm

  • Robert Tucker

The manager Ashley was rude and wrote me off as soon as I walked in.i understand they were about to close but she was rude about it rolled her eyes and said I guess you can check. The lady at the checkout was awesome she was helpful. But that manager was awful

  • Adam S

I love this store. Their selection is top notch and the prices are incredibly fair. Nash has helped me a few times, and is incredibly knowledgeable with liquor I'm unfamiliar with and has made my holiday gift giving a whole lot easier with recommendations.

  • ThatOne Ginger

This place is huge. If you love wine, cheese, or amazing meats this is your place. Samples of cheese led me to a new favorte!! Kentucky bourbon bellavitano is a MUST TRY. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Will be back anytime we are in town for sure

  • Kimberly P

Martin offers daily lunch specials with indoor seating. There's a variety of meat and cheese selections and a catering menu. They carry a worldwide selection of beers, liquor, and cordial. I went in yesterday and was elated to find a bottle of pisco!

  • Wood Dawg

What a surprise. I Googled liquor store and this popped up. They sale liquor but the store is way more than a liquor store. Great selection of wines and spirits. There is a restaurant in the back. Parking could be an issue but worth the frustration.

  • Terry Reeb

Great wine shop and restaurant combination! Order your lunch - (i recommend the BLT) and shop for your vino while you are waiting. I found a few bottles of French Chardonnay for better than big corporate box store prices so i was happy! Buy local!!

  • roxanne charles

The service of the employees were rude and very unprofessional. There was not any greetings or smiles. Customers need to start cooking at home, and today it will begin with ME! Marin Wine Cellar on Barrone St. does not deserve any Stars!!!!!

  • Lenny Feller

A rarity in a city that sells wine beer and alcohol at most markets and even drug stores, a dedicated liquor store with expertise on wine liquor and all things alcoholic. Also has a great deli for lunch. Very friendly staff.

  • Ali Esmaeili

An amazing go to place in NOLA for amazing sandwiches and salads. There’s an obvious huge variety of booze in the front that you can select from. Definitely one of my go-to’s. Try the uptowner or the cobbler sandwiches!

  • Thomas Krajewski

The selection here is ample and offers all levels of cost. The markup is most apparent on the beer and if that is what you're looking for I'd recommend a grocery store. Otherwise reasonable spot for your wine needs

  • Tye Boyd

I love this Martin's, they keep my bottle of wine in stock. Where can you go and select a bottle of wine, have it chilled, order lunch, eat your lunch and drink your bottle all at the same time? Love love love it.

  • Robyn Powley

Charming bistro and incredible wine selection with generous tastings of featured vintners. The staff members are so very knowledgeable and courteous. This is one of my favorite finds in all of New Orleans. …

  • doug brown

This was a great spot for us to catch lunch that wasn't just quick service style food during parades at Mardi gras. Food was so good will definitely be back again. And the beer and wine selection was top notch!

  • Val Vetter

A huge selection of wine, beer, spirits - and some great gourmet foods like prosciutto, cheeses, and even sandwiches. Though the prices are generally good - savvy shoppers will compare and buy accordingly.

  • Andrew Oliver

Always a great selection. The deli has a lot of fantastic food, packaged to go or eat-in (probably 20 tables +-). Locatelli, anyone? Huge wine selection, lots of liquor, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

  • Robert McCarter

Plenty of well lite parking. Access by two enterances and exits. Wheelchair parking and enterance. Friend staff, wide iles, excellent selection in both wine and beer. They also a very dellious delly.

  • Ty Provosty

The most incredible and vast selection of French wines I have ever seen in any USA based retailer. Truly impressive offerings. A wonderous superstore of the best in the delightful world of spirits.

  • Robert Bell

I think people rave about this because it's the only place to get a drink in the neighborhood. It's like a BevMo that serves food: great wine selection, but don't get too excited about the dining.

  • Devin Cooper

What an amazing place to search for a new favorite drink and fun tasting options on Thursday nights, even virtually!! Very nice and helpful staff and the largest selection I’ve ever seen.

  • victor avalos

Excellent place to shop for wines, cocktail supplies, munchies, and the deli restaurant has very fresh salads, sandwiches, and hot dishes. Also, great cheese section. All under one roof.

  • David Peltier

Ordered pre-made bowl of onion soup but they forgot us. Waited over half an hour while others with a cup of soup were served immediately. Had to requesta it again before we were served

  • Steven Ford

The Martin Special salad was large, mixed well and tasted great! Tons of seating, quick and friendly service. I would definitely go back and to try a sandwich this time. Big menu!

  • Mike Chicago

Pretty cool place. Who can argue about a place you can buy you can buy wine, a wide selection of booze, beer, souvenirs and a pretty darn good "cafeteria style" lunch counter.

  • Caroline Good

Easy go-to for salads and sandwiches and the wine, beer and liquor selection is good fun to browse. Off to the side and sometimes forgotten is an impressive cheese-shelf, too.

  • Christopher Dixon

Great selection of wine and spirits, but their cafe is the best part, especially the charcuterie boards that are much less expensive than other restaurants and twice as good.

  • Patsy Agpalza

Martin's has an excellent selection of local brews and export wines. We were able to find everything we needed for our trip in one trendy spot. Liquor, wine and local beer!

  • Rachel Geiger

My go to spot for office lunch!!! Generous portions, wide selection, good prices, always fresh good quality. Only complaint is I can't tip on a credit card only cash …

  • Anne Dominguez

Great selection of all spirits; outstanding deli sandwiches! Great cheese; pate selections. Crackers & specialty items. Worth the drive uptown. Plenty of parking, too.

Wow, awesome staff! Beautiful, great layout of store, amazing selection of wine. Love that they have a bistro and deli, too. Staff is very engaging and knowledgeable.

  • Jonathan Recile

Very comfortable spot to shop for wine, liquor, or beer and also get a bite to eat from the deli. During Christmas they offered gift wrap as well, which made it easy.

  • Harold Arnold

OMG I wish that I would have found this place sooner. It has literally every that you could want. The staff is very knowledgeable and not pushy about making the sale.

  • Casey Miller

Always seems to be something valuable on sale. Great wine, spirits and craft beer selections. Also a cool little place to grab a bite and have a great glass of wine.

  • M Sims

Generally, very good service. Today it was an absolute mess. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. I’m not sure I’ll be eating there to find out again anyway.

  • Joe Jacquat

They make great deli sandwiches with good quality meats. Good salad selection, too. Grab a bottle of wine on your way back to the deli to enjoy with your food.

  • kenneth kennair

Everything was fine. People nice. We had two sandwiches. Tasty but I expected something more than deli chicken and roast beef. No entrees like metairie store.

  • R. W. Adams

Came here to pick up one of my favorite rums. The Flor de Caña 18 yo is an excellent rum. Saw the Ron Zacapa XO for a great price and picked it up as well.

  • rendon slade

Absolutely awesome place. I found scotch and gin that I can’t find elsewhere and the 6x13 sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life.

  • Joost Morsink

Need any special drinks, go here. Need good and knowledgeable advise, go here. I haven't eaten there yet, but I have only heard good stories.

  • Paris

Martin Wine Cellar did an outstanding job with alcohol delivery for my wedding in March. Their service was impeccable from start to finish.

  • Lola Lass

Besides finding tons of options on wine and other beverages, the food they serve is fantastic. Sandwiches are so big I always have to share.

  • Sierra Frost

Beautiful spacious store with lots of parking. My only wish is for more cider options. Plenty of beers, wines, and liquors to choose from.

  • Benjamin Dale

Great selection at great prices and a welcoming staff. Go here if you like buying your liquor without stepping over the dregs of society.

  • Thomas Fristoe

Great wine and alcohol selection. The process could be more competitive. The food is not always consistent, but sometimes, very good

  • Michelle Clark

They have good food on their lunch menu and a good, varied selection of wines and liquors. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

  • Melanie Fernandez

Went for free Friday night wine tastings last night. Had blackened shrimp salad for dinner. The best ever. This chef is excellent.
