Exceptional. The best bar in Hobart, without question. Set in a disused hospital, the interior is moodily lit with exposed sandstone walls, cosy fireplaces and private anterooms adorned with plush rugs and leather chairs. The drinks are divine. Cocktails made by expert bartenders cheekily reference the locale- you MUST try the ‘medicinal’ take on an espresso martini- and many are infused with local ingredients. The delightful Nitesh made my husband- a devoted negroni drinker- the best negroni he’s ever had, all the while spinning bottles and pouring complex and delicious concoctions and simultaneously educating us about the bar’s history and the drinks on offer. The service really sets Mary Mary apart. Everyone who assisted us was warm and attentive without ever being obtrusive. In short, Mary Mary is a delight. Do yourselves a favour and pay it a visit.

One of my work mates dragged us in here after our staff Xmas party for a few chilled cocktails, and I’m so glad she did. This place is awesome. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s the old adage of getting what you pay for. The cocktails are spot on right down to them having custom sized ice cubes for the appropriate glasses for your drink of choice. The staff are all super nice, and I’m sure there must be an attractive clause in their employment contracts - extra points for Lea the French seductress mixing our drinks. Regardless of how attractive all the staff are (yes the guys as well), it was intriguing watching professionals at work with all the right equipment to get your drink just quite so. It’s a nice looking bar, good ambiance and drinks variety. However, after noticing that their food menu was a short version of the restaurant next door, I asked if I could have on a of the entrées from the restaurant next door that wasn’t on their menu, the hostess who appeared to be from Vietnamese background immediately replied this wouldn’t be possible. I truly don’t understand the point, for a 5 star hotel bar, not being able to serve an entree from their restaurant to one of their guests it’s simply ridiculous, The bar and restaurant share the same kitchen and a simply request like this one seems to be impossible and a hard no on a guest. Embarrassing and poor service, specially from the hostess who showed ZERO care for guests.

Came in when I was 6 months pregnant with my friends, the food and the drinks were good so I decided to visit again today with my family and friends and my 4-month old baby. After asking how many of us and try to arrange a table, she came to ask someone from the bar and said that they cannot take us because the baby is under 18… Tbh, I have been to a few cocktail bars in Hobart before Mary mary with our baby and never been in the same situation. It was really disappointed, while just cross the road there is a cocktail bar with absolutely amazing food and cocktail that BABY FRIENDLY, Institut Polaire. So if you guys try to come in for some treat with a baby, good luck!!!

From the moment I walked in the door, well it is an automatic door so it's a button to get in this place does have a feel of effort to make it special and it is. Beautiful decor and lighting that was crafted. I was after a simply great beer so went for the Bruny Island Beer Co black pudding stout. A smooth drop that goes down so well. It was only a short visit this time but I will be back again (and again) to try more on the drinks menu. The cocktails are tempting me along with an eclectic selection of wines.

My family we’re enjoying our last night together for a reunion in Hobart. We walked into the Mary Mary bar for one final soujourn. Collectively we agree, never have we received such an icy bitter reception upon arrival. The man who served us “Andrew” had an extremely bad attitude. The sad thing is, our experience of Hobart to date had been nothing but wonderful…. lovely friendly people. I can only suggest that Andrew should venture more into the tech industry where he dosen’t have to deal directly with people

This place has heaps of potential and I can imagine it would be a great bar on the weekend. We unfortunately went on a Monday evening (bonus points for even being open on a Monday?!) and it was absolutely dead quiet which made it a bit awkward. We had a really, really lovely wine here though but chose not to stay any longer due to how quiet it was. The fit out is stylish and comfortable. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Would love to go back on a weekend!

Nice atmosphere, let down by lack of attention to orders. Drinks came immediately, however when I enquired why the food was taking so long, it turned out that the order wasn't sent to the kitchen. Furthermore, I wanted to try a brandy I wasn't familiar with, however it appears I was given something else which was twice the price of what I ordered. When I questioned the bill and said that wasn't what I ordered, the response was 'that's what you had.'

A spontaneous stop after eating next door. Really cool feel to the place and the atmosphere is great. We were warmly welcomed by Ali. He gave us a quick run down and whipped us up something to each of our personalised likings. Both drinking were absolutely fantastic. Ali managed to ensure we were well taken care of, over and above what is expected. Wish we could of visited again. Until next time.

We ordered 2 cocktails and I can only assume that the four staff members who checked on us while we had a long wait were playing a game of Chinese whispers, as one of our drinks was wrong, we were given some wine in compensation for our long wait however. Only one of the staff members seemed up to the quality that the Mary Mary seems to be trying to achieve.

Love the moody lightning and vibes of Mary Mary; there’s a good selection of bar seats, high table seats and cushy leather sofa chairs to suit your fancy, and the cocktails are smooth and delicious. Service is warm and attentive without being intrusive too. I personally loved the Loomi, True Local and Apiarist Manhattan!

Cosy and elegant but service was bad.In fairness it was only one staff member but he was the first person we met, presumably their friendliest. He made my wife and I feel uncomfortable and embarrassed when we arrived. We had arranged to met other people there otherwise I would have simply walked out. Nice venue, rude service.

Stunning bar, great cocktails, solid service. Amazing space, plush lounges. Cocktails are excellent. The seasonal cocktails were creative and well balanced. We had the "Apple" which was amazing and their take on Manhattan was excellent also. The Pulpo snack was top draw. Non-alcoholic option was too sweet. Attentive service.

Sat at the bar for a quick drink, there's a really chill vibe here. Really wanted to try some local Tasmanian gin. The staff were really knowledgable and gave great recommendations. The dirty martini with the Forty Spotted Gin was one of the best i've had!

We loved this bar!!!! Go in the back door which adds an extra bit of “down the rabbit hole”! We gave the bar tender our preferred list of ingredients and she whipped us up a couple of bespoke cocktails in no time!! Great bar!!

Why can every other bar/resturant in Hobart allow separate payment of a tab but this place can't. We had to have a single person pay the entire bill then all transfer our spend to their bank account. What a joke.

Cozy and comfortable, nice atmosphere, nice waiters and waitresses, nice drinks. It’s not noisy there, and it’s a perfect place for talking with friends. Only the little red sofas are too short and small to sit.
