I'd been to St. Petersburg 20 years before, but since it had been a while, I engaged Alexei with MaxiBaltTours to help me find my way through the city and sights. Alexei was both very pleasant to be with and very flexible. He worked with me each day to make my tour plans for me to see new sights, as well as to re-see some old ones. This trip I saw, among other sights, Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Church of Spilled Blood, Russia's Museum of Political History, and the Moika Palace where Rasputin was assassinated. Alexei also helped me with some of my personal travel needs, including taking me to an appropriate store to buy an inexpensive cell phone that would work in Russia, and to a store that sold a wide range of reasonably priced Russian souvenirs. Alexei also directed me to several good restaurants offering tasty food at reasonable prices...my favorite was called Teplo! All in all my trip was very good and MaxiBaltTours helped make it so. However, I traveled the first week of October, and not unexpectedly, the weather was a bit too cool and rainy.

During November 10-13, 2013, I visited St. Petersburg, Russia, with a group of 10 friends. I year earlier I made just such a visit with all arrangements also made through Alex Volkov and MaxiBaltTours. As he did in 2012, Alex showed himself to be very completely professional and delightfully personable. I was especially happy that, on this visit, Alex engaged the services of an outstanding guide for our tours of the Russian State Art Museum and the Hermitage Museum of Art. I love visual art - especially painting - and had toured both these museums before, but never enjoyed them nearly as much as this time. Also, on this visit I made my first tour of Church of the Spilled Blood. That was like a revelation to me. Our accommodations were very nice and comfortable and ground transportation was efficient. My only regret is that I could not stay longer. Anyone who arranges their visit to St. Petersburg though anyone else besides Alex and MaxiBaltTours does not know what they are missing. Thanks, Alex!
