The barmy old woman in here is hopeless. She doesn't listen. Too busy doing Internet orders. Got home to find the two items were wrong. How hard is it to get two items right lol ? I can't eat pork so I know I asked for duck. If she's serving you then double check your order. She makes a massive fuss about how busy she is. So dramatic. Like one telephone order and an Internet order she loses her mind. Its not cheap in there and its actually not even particularly nice. Oh and wonton soup is meant to contain dumplings. There's are hideous obviously frozen strips of chicken with greasy mushrooms and a watery liquid. I can't call it a soup. More like slop. No dumplings lol how do they even get away with this ? Go somewhere else. Just called them. She obviously blamed me. I told her I can't eat pork. Called me a liar. Well that's an ex customer who regularly contributes to blogs they've annoyed. Overpriced average to poor food with the worst customer service I've ever encountered. This place needs closing down.

WRONG ORDER, CURLY HAIRS IN FOOD & POOR MANNERS. DO NOT EAT HERE. Absolutely awful, stay away! I ordered from this dump this evening. Not only was one of the dishes completely wrong - giving me chicken instead of pork, my satay chicken dish was plagued with curly black hairs. Needless to say dinner went in the bin. When I called to inform them of the wrong dish and stray hairs the lady answering the phone replied “it will be better next time”. I asked for a refund And offered to give back all dishes so they can see the state of food they’re sending out to customers to which she replied “I’m just the telephone person”. She then hung up. I think its pretty evident that whilst some people are brought up, others are dragged up. Manners and hygiene cost nothing in this world so it would be nice for people to maintain high levels of both. Perhaps I’m just being naive. Very disappointing.

Ordered £35 worth of food from this place on Uber Eats tonight 08/11/2021 for the first time This is what we were greeted by when the sweet and sour pork was opened. A small soggy round PLASTER IN THE FOOD -Called the restaurant immediately and was passed over to the ‘chef’ who screamed abuse at us over the phone calling us liars and hung up on us. -Went round to the restaurant and kindly returned the item. NO responsibility taken, not even an apology made. -Reported this to Islington council health and safety I have never felt so compelled to write a review like this in my life. SICK TO THE STOMACH. SERIOUSLY STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I can only IMAGINE what else makes it into their ‘food’

I’ve tried plenty of Chinese takeaway around the area and I could easily say that may Mei wok won first place for me. The rice is so fluffy and tasty, where other takeaways the rice would feel like plastic. The salt and pepper prawns are mouthwatering, spring rolls are a 10/10. I could go on and say so much about the dishes but in short I give this a 5 star rating. They are very attentive to customers needs.

Tried to order through Uber eats only for my order to be cancelled. I called the restaurant and was told that they could not deliver to my area due to busy traffic. I had used a discount code with my order and I suspect the reason for not waning to deliver is because they did not want to accept the discount. Ridiculous, and a lame excuse. How can you be stuck in traffic riding a bike on a 2 mile journey during lockdown the most penny pinching greediest takeaway I've ever come across. With very little business sense, as they have just lost a new customer.

Disappointing. After ordering takeaways for many years (10+) we're no longer going here. Thankfully the overcharging (usually a pound here or there - same boy) has stopped - although do still check they don't charge you for using Visa! No, the reason is that the quality of the food has deteriorated so much over the last couple of years; we have given up. Our last order was prawn 'pad thai' - which turned out to be a tough prawn chow mein with chiili sauce! This combined with an overcooked and sickly sweet kung po chicken was the last straw.

I am a regular customer and noticed that the food quality has gone down drastically whilst the price has gone up. The food is so greasy especially the chow mein, the food is only fresh if you get lucky, otherwise you can tell its not, taste is bland and even the free prawn crackers are hard like a rock, like I said if you get lucky, you will be given the fresh ones. I had a missing item and the customer service was really poor. They didn't do anything about it. That's how they treat their customers.

First time ordering from this restaurant as its closest to my house. ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️I wished I had read the reviews first.....its been over 2hrs n my orders are nowhere to be seen. The restaurant are not picking calls. I've called several times n the lines always busy. I have ordered today I dish I always had for the last years , keep on giving chances to this place, given up today when my vegetable fried noodles came with 2 kg of salt and 2 l of oil, no mushrooms no veggies 2 pieces of green pepper that wasnt even fried just poached, and carotts poached again ,very poor meal no flavour whatsoever, had just eaten the noodles because was starving , but regret going in today , never again, waste of money , time and appetite.... starless take away,

The worst Chinese food i have ever ordered in my life! DISGUSTING! INEDIBLE! We all sent it back for a refund...DO NOT ORDER!! The lady tried to tell me nobody else has complained and I must be wrong, I have read the reviews and tasted their food so I KNOW I am right. My curry was literally pinky looking and tasted of cornflour and dish water....my daughters spring roll was off and she had one bite and threw it in the bin....TOTALLY GROSE!!!

ordered from uber eats, took way longer than time estimated in app.. capital ribs, everywhere i have ever ordered these from had a sticky thick sauce coating them, the sauce on these is watery at best. chips re fried and just not the ticket. sweet and sour chicken not enough sauce, dry, recooked flavour. curry sauce, small portions r us... chicken chow mein on the other hand fantastic..

DO NOT eat from here, the day after eating their food it made my friend and I vomit uncontrollably throughout the night and i couldnt keep any liquids or food down me. Their food hygiene must be awful and a formal complaint will be made. Still feel really naucious as im writing this and this place has put me off ever eating takeaway chinese food again. Do not waste your money here.

Food took a total of 2hrs 10min from order time to be delivered. Phoned restaurant only to be told it would be 10 mins but 40 minutes later and no food. When it did eventually arrive the spring rolls were too greasy, the ribs weren't packed correctly and spilled out into the bag and the special fried rice was nothing special about it. Would NOT recommend and will never order again.

Terrible. Was told it would take 45 mins, arrived 1.5 hours after order was placed. Repeatedly phoned to check order status. It arrived cold, meat was delivered for a vegetarian. We phoned to complain, they said they would phone back, they didn't. We then had to call twice more, the manager was very off hand. The driver and chef both lied about the order. All in all very unhappy

Glad I didn't see the old 1-star reviews, because we went in naive and really enjoyed our meal. Maybe they're taking on the criticism. Anyways, we ordered a variety of noodle dishes and mains. Lots of fresh veggies, flavourful sauce, and generous servings for the price. The food that is advertised as spicy is suitably spicy, not sure why this comes as a surprise to some people?

Have ordered from May Mei Wok for years - both collected in person and via app. Always enjoyed their food, definitely the better of the Chinese takeaways in the Finsbury Park area. Some delays during busy times but food still arrives warm. Always tasty.

We've been using May Mei Wok about once a week for 15 years but it's been going downhill over the last year with fewer and fewer dishes up to their previous standard. Tonight I tried to order my usual set meal but they decided I could not substitute chicken for beef in black sauce despite always doing so previously. They've just lost a long time customer.

Went in for a pick up. Quite clearly prioritise delivery orders as they're rated online. Waited a long time, and when ready they read out our order. Fine.... But got home & missing the spring rolls. Minor point, you may say. But goddamn were we looking forward to those!!!! Highlight of the meal! Anyway. TL:DR - food missing =major disappointment.

The food was absolutely AWFUL please do not waste your money. I ordered sweet and sour vegetables I would have been better off going to Tesco and buying a jar of hone made sweet and sour sour. I spent over £30.00 and nothing in my order was appetising. Really wanted to support this local business but NEVER AGAIN not even if the food was FREE.

I ordered from here and the food was delicious and arrived very quickly. I am not sure why the ratings are so low but every dish was prepared well - I had my standard Sweet and Sour Prawns Hong Kong Style with fried rice and a Brocolli dish all of which were cooked perfectly and with a good portion size. Will definitely be ordering again.

Awful experience. I’ve been coming here for a while now but last night the chicken chow mein had me vomiting uncontrollably an hour after eating it. I still can’t face any food a day after and the sickness has continued. It’s a shame because I used to love this place, but now I don’t think I’ll ever eat Chinese food ever again.

Ordered from here as it had good ratings on Uber Eats. Food arrived promptly. However, the crispy seaweed was extremely sugary, so we had to throw it away. The sweat and sour pork was too hard and chewy, and they gave us vinegar to go with our prawn crackers instead of soya or oyster sauce. Very disappointed with my order.

I'm a student living nearby, and I always grab some food when I come back from university.the food is tasty and freshly made, and sometimes if I pay by cash ,they also kindly offer a 10% off student discount. My friends and myself we all love the food here and will be the loyalty customer s there.

Unfortunately we had food poisoning from here, it was their shredded beef, I only had a few bites but my partner had most of it and has been suffering from Horrible food poisoning for 3 days now Shame as we did love their chicken chow mien and duck pancakes, we won’t be ordering from here again!

I have been ordering food from May Mei Wok for many years. In the last 2 years, the standard of their food has deteriorated badly. Their noodles are over cooked and bitter. Their fried rice has no taste and is slightly burned. Their seaweed is pure salt. Will not be using them anymore.

Amazing as always we had a good amount for 5, of us had ribs, satay chicken, large house special Chow main, large egg fried rice, quarter duck and pancakes, sweet and sour sauce came with free spring rolls and prawn crackers think it was £34 great portions and lovely staff.

The hottest crispy fried chilli beef I have ever had in my life.......I think the chilli seeds accidentally fell in the wok. Horrible and added to that the owner lied through her teeth......said no-one else has ever complained..........and then I read all the reviews.

Over 1.5 hours to deliver when it should have been under 45 mins and food was messed up on arrival. Waste of £30. Ordered quite a few times before and quality was ok but today it was terrible and I won't be ordering again.

It is most aweful place the noodle soup was horrible and tasteless as well as the model dish with mix meat. Not even an authentic noddle more like overcooked pasta. At any cost avoid. It had to chucked in the bin.

Sweet and sour pork is too chewy. Crisy Seaweed is sweetened with vast amounts of sugar unnecessarily. Prawn crackers, gyoza and spring rolls are ok. Crispy duck wasn't shredded, too dry and tasteless.

We used to go regularly to the place, thinking its the same as any other Chinese places around the area. BUT one time there were pieces of shattered glass in one of the dishes. Complete trauma.

Ordered food which took an over an hour to arrive, called restaurant twice just to keep being told we are waiting for a driver....food arrives cold - l won't be ordering from this place again!

I always eat here and always been satisfied. The sweet and sour is great and the price is cheap. They give free prawn crackers and the delivery is fast. All around good experience.

It's okay, sometimes better than others, but the bean curd is always over fried. They could do better than this. And the egg fried rice has too little egg and too much soy sauce.
