Has potential but is disappointing. They charge you $33 per vehicle. I went on a sunday so it was only 1 movie. the website states that outside food and drinks are not allowed. that they are a small buissness supporting small buissness, food trucks and stands are avaliable. This was not true. When we entered the guy at the front checking tickets said he recommended we get food or drinks from outside or we were allowed to order doordash because they did not have any food vendors and that their concessions stand was about to close. Showtime was for 8:00 pm we arrived at 7:30 why would you close your concession stand? I ran up as she was packing up to get at least something to drink. none of their drinks were cold. I paid $15 for 2 room temp can sodas a water and a box of sourpatch kids. No ice avaliable. Now the actual movie... the movie we chose was showing in the far back. It faced the skyline, which was nice, but directly behind was a security hut with the brightest light on the market. Making the screen have a glare and certain scenes difficult to see. The screen itself was small and very damaged, with a lot of dead spots and lines. the projector was off centered for the first 30 minutes of the movie. No employees are readily available. Multiple people knocked on the projection hut, but no one was inside. The location for this is great. If they figure out the surrounding lighting issues and fix their screens this is a great addition to this side of town. They seem understaffed, but the employees I did interact with are really nice. Looking forward to what this place will become! They just need a little more organization. I will be back.

I've given this place two tries and it seems like they're barely trying to resolve the golf course lights issue. I came here early June and could barely make out the movie due to the glare from the golf course lights like others have mentioned. This month I thought okay it's been 3 months, surely things have improved. Nope. Either you can watch your movie on the super washed out screen near the golf course and have constant glare, or on one of the other two screens which are barely bright enough to make out any details in the dark. I couldnt make out what was going on in half of the nun 2. Looking at the reviews it's the same comment about how they're "working on it" since then. I feel like they don't really care since they know people will come regardless. The concession stand is also really bare bones. And like others have said, they offer no refunds. I wanted to like this place because of the convenience, but until they fix it it is NOT worth your money. Go to the other drive in theater. It's a bit of a drive but you'll have a better experience.

Saw this experience on TikTok and thought we would try it out as we have never been to a drive in theatre. Price was not bad for one car and we got there early enough to get the perfect parking space. They had porta potties but a neat hand washing area. However the experience started to go down hill when we went to the snack table. There was barely any snacks left. I wish I got a picture. About 6 bags of chips and a few boxes/bags of Candy. We expected popcorn or at least more of a selection of snacks. We were so disappointed. Then when the movie played, we could barely see it. We watched Evil Dead Rise and due to how dark the movie is, you could barely make out scenes. Mario bros in the lot over was very well lit. Not sure if they test out movies before showing them…but please do for future movies.

Wonderful drive in experience! Get there early to watch the sunset behind the Houston downtown skyline. You will have a great time but there's a couple things you need to prepare for. 1. Don't try to park super close to the screen. The best viewing is in the middle of your assigned lot. 2. Concessions suck. Eat/snack before you get there. Sneak them in if you have to. The popcorn was pre-made and cold. 3. There are no bathrooms! Just portable toilets. They actually weren't horrible in an emergency bathroom situation. 3. Bring folding chairs or tailgate if you are bringing the family. It might be hard to see the screen from the back seat. 4. Make sure that you have F.M radio signal because that's where your movie audio will come from. Kudos if your car has a wonderful sound system!

Really enjoyed it. We saw Scream 6. The movie was good. Haven't been to a drive in... Well, I don't remember how long it's been... Probably since I've been a kid. The screen is on a shipping containers and the white part on our had a couple of black edges that interrupted the flow of the screen. The FM radio wasn't perfectly in sync, but it wasn't bad. Overall we had a great time. There was a good truck that served some Chinese food and we had the chicken egg rolls which were good. There was a spot that sold drinks and pop corn, but it was super dark over there and I don't think anyone was there the two times I approached to get a drink. Still, it is a great use of space and a nice night out. We had a really good time and could bring our dog which was awesome. He had fun.

Moonstruck Drive-In theater is a must see! It’s located right outside the heart of downtown Houston on east end. You’ll be feeling all the nostalgia as you watch your favorite movies from your car! This is one Houston’s best hidden gems. I swear not enough people know about this cool place. Moonstruck is locally owned and operated. Who doesn’t love supporting locally owned businesses? There are concessions, bathrooms (portapotty tyle), and on certain nights food trucks. They have 2 large viewing screens and tons of parking space! Make sure to check online for dates/times of your next movie. It’s a great place for a date night, family movie night, girls night, guys night, or solo movie night! This is a great concept in a not so great spot. The golf range next door makes the screen hard to see. I’m sure the theater was there first but it casts a lot of light. Concessions were mediocre. But seeing the place for the first time makes sense. If they had a concession food truck, where it would be freshly popped would be better. And it was so salty! Also, there was the most extreme pungent odor coming from somewhere. It was like a septic system smell and it was terrible. Make sure you have FM radio because the sound comes from that in your car. We had ours turned all the way up and we could hear it while we sat in our chairs. We won’t visit this one again because we’d rather drive more north away from the lights. But it was ok in a pinch.

I was excited to come to this location, because I haven't been to a drive-in for over 40 years. The screen obviously has wind and water damage (missing two panels). The beautiful Houston skyline has been replaced by the Houston dump that is blocking the skyline view. We were told to not bring food and snacks yet there are no food trucks or vendors to sell anything except salty grabbag popcorn. Instead of enjoying the movie I felt like we were being used as extras in a horror film without being compensated. Beware because you will not be Moonstruck; you will be pigeon dropped and money hosed.

This reminded me so much of my childhood. My parents used to take us to the "drive in", get us popcorn, sodas, and candy and let us sit on top of the car to watch the movie! What a time, right?! The movie screen was clear. Place was super cute and spacious outside movie theater. And its in a great part of town. I attended this event via @HoustonYelp events and had such a blast. This place would be perfect for date night, kids night out, or a singular rest and relax night.

If you’re looking for a drive in movie theatre, I wouldn’t give this one 5 stars we just went this past Sunday. Me and my family really wanted the whole drive in experience, the staff was polite and they had a concession stand with options however we couldn’t see the majority of the movie because of the golf course lights which was disappointing considering my daughters really wanted to see the movie. We were really only able to see the last 30 minutes of the movie.

Nostalgic way to take in a movie that always creates fond memories. Really enjoyed our date night at MoonStruck! Courteous staff, amazing backdrop, and surprisingly good viewing screen. My only complaint would be the far reaching concession prices (paid $13.00 for a small tub of popcorn and a 12oz. bottle of water) otherwise great value if you bring a car full of people. Highly recommend and remember to arrive early to get the best spot!!

This place is so cool. I had a wonderful experience with the crew I came with. There are multiple screens were they show different movies. We saw the beast movie. The restrooms are outdoor restroom stalls but they are very clean. You have to turn your car to a radio station to hear the audio of the movie. There is also a beautiful view of the Houston skyline. There is plenty of parking and people get really comfortable. I will be back.

We were so excited to bring our kids to a drive in movie. Unfortunately, the neighbors to this drive in theater are a golf driving range with extremely bright lights that shine into the night and totally wash out the screen. We could barely see what was going on in the movie and it definitely ruined the experience for us. I would not bother with this drive in theater again unless they sort things out with their neighbors.

WASTE OF MONEY. Don’t go here unless you want to pay $33 for VERY POOR quality! Last night I went to see the new Transformers movie & left after 5 minutes of being there. The screen quality is TERRIBLE due to the huge white glare from the golf course lights next door, the glare covers almost the entire screen. The concession stand sucks too. For food they only have popcorn & chips. 0/10 would NOT recommend.

The idea is a good one. I wish I had the audio figured out completely beforehand. Missed about 10-15 min of the beginning trying to sort that out. Only issue I had with the place itself was all the light coming from whatever business is next door to it. Seemed like flood lights and it had an effect on the movie screen.

Went yesterday to see scream 6! It was a great experience beautiful view of the city & had great food from the food truck. They have like 3 screens. The biggest one was more better looking than the other two i was stuck at. But anyway i had a great time, it wasn’t packed and I’m definitely going back!!

  • Isaac Garza

The place is a great idea but still has some stuff to work on. Maybe more options for snacks? Also the food truck has bright lights towards the screen. The golf course next door has bright lights as well so it’s really hard to see. Couldn’t even see during the night time scenes.

They are a hidden gem right now. The movie we watched was not crowded at all. We parked where we wanted and enjoyed our show... then during the 2nd show (that's right 2), we enjoyed each other... like some teenagers. Smh. A little pricey but a good time.

  • Martin Segovia

Awesome drive in theater!! Not to packed on a Friday night. Just tune your radio to the station for audio and sit in your car. Saw some people with chairs outside also. They do have a concession stand with snacks. They charge per car. Will def come back

  • E Ze

As others have mentioned, the lights next door really put a damper on the screen. If it was $15 or so I'd say it was worth it, but not at the current price. Kudos to them trying to keep drive in movies alive, though.
