My husband and I and our 2 children aged 3 and 5 had a lovely afternoon here after seeing it recommended by Small Ideas on Facebook. We weren't expecting so many such large planes and that we'd be able to sit inside so many rather than just look at them, it was really well laid out with lots to see and we all got something positive out of it and enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced admission and we got the kids a little helicopter Lego treat each to take home. Only suggestion would be for the info about each plane to be displayed at the bottom of it rather than inside it so you can read while you're waiting for a turn. Not sure if there was anywhere to get a coffee or snack/light lunch but there were facilities there like ramps for prams and a changing table

We had an absolutely amazing time here with our young boy who is mad keen on everything to do with airplanes at the moment. Being able to sit in the cockpits of many real aircraft was very exciting. The volunteers in the reception are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the entry fee is very reasonable. The shop has a great range of aviation related toys, memorabilia, and books. The museum is well laid out and it's exciting that they are working on an expansion to house even more aircraft that are currently in storage. It's a fascinating glimpse into the history of aviation and well worth the trip out to Moorabbin.

A very good place for kids of all ages. An hour or two kids can busy exploring, riding and learning the history of some old planes. Some of these old planes were used in war, some were used as passenger planes. Kids can ride on most of these planes, the simulator one is the most exciting one!! It is very close to Moorabin DFO, so if any one is planning to visit, even they can plan some shopping together. Ticket price is affordable. Currently $20 for a full family. They have very friendly staffs. The souvenir shop has some attractions for the kids. Toilets are nice and clean. I recommend this place for someone to visit soon.

Top notch museum. Entry fee is well worth the money spent. A lot of love and care has been taken to look after these planes which are partly housed under the hangar. The other half is housed outdoors. About 40% of them you can climb into and some right into the cockpit. The volunteers are passionate and dedicated. Be sure to download the QR code reader to hear live audio as you move thru the museum. The info plaques are comprehensive and interesting but the audio from the QR codes and links adds more interest tothe experience. Old and young alike would definitely enjoy this museum. They do group tours.

What a wonderful experience. The admission fee is so worth it. You’ll need at least an hour to enjoy the rich history of aviation in AUS. There were a lot of open access planes for you to try out, to see how it feels like as a fighter pilot and commercial pilot. Adults and kids would really enjoy pushing buttons, pulling levers in the cockpit. Great to take photos everywhere. You don’t need to be an enthusiast to enjoy it. I hope they get to add more planes in the future!

It's a nice place for kids to visit, kids enjoyed the stimulator experience, able to sit in the pilot room for landing and taking off (pretending but there is video in front of them and audio for instructions) Small place, don't expect to spend a day here. Toilet facility is available but there is no cafe or food here. Plenty of parking outside. For a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, only $20 for a ticket.

Great work by Australian Govt. Awesome place for those who have interest in history and aviation as well. When you go there, you get a glimpse of aviation history and contribution of war aircrafts as well. A little addition must be done if there could be some sort of self explanatory guided tour around the crafts or maybe some staff to add up for little explanation. Otherwise it's a very nice place and must go at least once for sure if you're travelling to Melbourne.

Very interactive museum. I expected your typical walls of information but it was much more rich in scope. Plenty of actual model aircraft you can sit in and play around with. From military planes to commercial planes. Decent section of things to check out. Very cheap entry too. Only $10. I'm not even a fan of aviation but still found an appreciation for all the things around me.

It's very interesting place to visit. With my aviation background I went to all Open Access and found the most attractive the following displays: DC9 simulator, KIOWA chopper, Tiger Moth requires tickets and a guide, there are some interesting historical items near Gipsy moth and Beaufighter (they're not on the map), Canberra bomber and Optica (must see and read).

Very nice museum! Love how they made most of the planes, helicopteres, jets, etc accessible to walk into or sit in. I have never seen such vehicles up close so it was very interesting to inspect the cockpit and all the buttons! There's also a flight simulator which was pretty cool. There's a little gift shop where you enter, entry was just $10 per adult and theres toilets available too. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here

Having organized a day out to point cook, that ended up short (much of the good stuff is still closed), decided to drop in here after. Well worth it! Small museum, but packed with great aircraft and displays, many not found elsewhere. That you can touch, and sit in some of the historic aircraft is amazing. Great, knowledgeable staff.

Amazing and wow experience. I recently visited this museum and was quite impressed with aircraft’s and planes they have there. Most of them are open to public to climb and have feel of sitting in the cockpit of a fighter plane. Flight simulator was the best. It had a lot kids birthday parties as well the day we visited, definitely a great place for kids and Adults as well. Must visited place!!

  • Roza Richards

My kids haven't stopped talking about this place. They loved being able to climb into various planes and especially the police helicopter. Great place to visit, but not very big, so you'll get to re-do all the planes/helicopters another time or few. Lots of information for the adults to read and learn also.

Fantastic experience! Took the munchkins along and had an equal amount of fun! A truly interactive museum - great little gem not too far from the surrounding suburbs. Great for all ages, with a range of aircraft that you can sit in and experience from the pilots perspective. Entry was cheap too and the gift shop was reasonably priced. We all agreed we could come back for a second visit!

  • Abhijit Chattaraj

Wonderful museum. lovingly and painstakingly put together displays. The static displays are extremely interactive. Being able to sit in the cockpit of a Gloster Meteor, F86 Sabre or DeHavilland Venom is the stuff of dreams an entire generation grew up with. A must visit for any aviation enthusiast.

This place was really cool. Good for kids who love their airplanes, all different types and different ones from all over the years. You get to go inside planes and play around, see how it all looked and how it was. It's a small place. It's a nice cheap little weekend thing to do. Kids would love it

Loved this place. My sister heard about it so went with my 2 grandson's and sisters. The boys loved seeing all the old planes and sitting in the cockpits. Was fascinating. They even had a helicopter to sit in. We really enjoyed the few hours we spent there. Only $7.00 for adult's, children free.

A beautiful place with lots of aeroplanes, fighter jets, helicopters which you can climb onto to get a real feel. With both indoors and outdoors area on display you can easily spend 2 - 3 hours of not more. You need to visit the museum to actually understand how nice it is. Thoroughly loved it.

As a aviation fan, It's great to have a close up look at some of these aircraft of the past. Love to sit in the cockpit, get a feel for how it was. Great to see the interior of 737 and play in the simulator. Look forward to see more when museum expands and current projects are restored.

Decent set up they have here. Have not been to many air museums in the past, but can say that for such a low price, it was well worth it. A bunch of planes to walk through and cockpits to sit in. Some informative displays with other aircraft, airport, uniforms and historical.

Great couple of hours spent with my 7 year old who loves planes. In this museum you can touch almost everything and experience firsthand what it was like to pilot planes and helicopters from the 1930's to 1970's. The place even caters for kids' parties!!

Absolutely fantastic museum with a great variety of big, small, military and non military aircraft. The only air museum I've been to where you can interact with the aircraft, climb in the cockpit etc. Much better than just looking at a static display.

Visited the museum on last Saturday (Oct 14) morning. For aviation fans, it’s a place really worth visiting. There are many interesting collections, especially the classic Beaufighter and the Fokker fuel tank. I was so excited when meeting the beautiful twin-engine Beau. BTW, bought several pretty lovely stickers from the shop. More

Well worth a visit. Highlights for me included the Mirage III, the Beaufighter, Fairey Firefly, and Fairey Gannet. Could do with a cafe but otherwise an excellent air museum with heaps of uniquely Australian exhibits and histories.

Great place for both kids and adults to explore around. They allow us to hop into some planes, too- including spy planes. I was so happy that I got to see some old planes that no longer use in this modern period (e.g. F-86). Overall satisfied with the experience and great people who work there! Cheers!

  • Ilias Stergiopoulos

Great place for aviation fans. Not many aircraft to see but they are in pristine condition and they all belong to an era long bygone, so it is a rare opportunity to see up close these flying machines. Don't miss it !!

We have an annual membership because my son loves it so much. The membership supports the restoration and maintenance of many of the airplanes and relics that you see at the museum. We have been coming here since he was 3. He still spends hours here. Worth it if your family are into aviation history.

  • Nicole Moody

A pretty cool place, especially if you are an aviation buff or have children who love planes! Lots of the equipment is open and you can enjoy clambering into jets, helicopters, flight simulators and old commercial aircraft. Well worth the entry fee ($10 for adults) and would go back in a heartbeat.

It was a fun experience, seeing old planes and their history. Also you're able to ride on some of them and access the controls / cockpit. This is fun for kids and adults alike, especially those who love airplanes.

Great place for kids to experience cockpits of real life planes and helicopters. This has a simulator as well, which can be bit busy as many seem to love spending time in it. Overall, it would take around 2-3 hours to cover the facility depending on how excited the kids would be.
