Super excited to come back here after a long break. This was a frequent local watering hole when it was Riverstone. It looks really good inside and the atmosphere is even better now as Moose's. Honestly wasn't even too disappointed in the relatively high prices as these are tough times and I want to support local. Food was delicious and good portion size. Unfortunately the whole experience was marred by our server who came to our table at 5:55 and proceeded to tell us the specials and then we ordered drinks since it was happy hour until 6pm. The waitress looks at her watch and it literally turns 6:00 as she looks at her wrist and she says sorry, she can't give us the happy hour special anymore, despite coming to our table well before 6pm. Really disheartened by the blood-contract happy hour fascism displayed here. I am coming in, supporting your local, even paying above average prices for the food/experience and you can't give me an extra minute for 1 happy hour beer? It isn't even the money as I was only saving a couple bucks, just the attitude and lack of consideration was cold, distasteful and very unfriendly. Riverstone was much more of a friendly, family, happy you are here atmosphere and it is unfortunate that Moose's policies aren't as amenable. Pretty disappointing to say the least and left the bar feeling like the good ol days do not live here no more.

Food was ok. I ordered the Beef Dip and fries. The fries were really good but not thrilled that I had to pay $1 extra for mayo. I had an ice tea and the cup was 50-70% full of ice so of course I had a refill and the charge $1 extra for that too. I was the only customer in the place at 11:30 on a Saturday and the first 15 min the TVs were not on. Finally they put one on and instead of asking what the customer preferred they just put on golf. The waitress wasn’t very attentive. I probably won’t go back. I understand that restaurants are hurting and I would love to support them but I also don’t like to be nickeled and dimed. If you want to charge $18 for a beef dip with the condiments then just charge $18 but to up charge for every little thing you lost a customer. Oh yeah and they have programmed the payment machine for min 16% tip unless you go in and re enter what you want to tip. Gave a 2 star for the fries and the food came out quickly. Two thumbs up to the kitchen staff.

Long time watering hole and sports bar of NW Calgary since ‘95! Trivia on Thursdays starts at 7:30pm and you can call to reserve tables. This is a huge space on the inside with a restaurant dining room in the front and side, outdoor seating, bar seating, and video lottery terminals. ATM inside also. They have great daily discounts that rotate. I've been with friends here more than a few times and the trivia nights are the best, free to play, and the prizes are a $50 gift Vintage Foods gift card and case of local beer! Staff are awesome and food is good, I've enjoyed the Big Moose pizza (ground beef toppings!) , the club, their smokey bbq double cooked wings, and their garlic shrimp and cheese toast sides are delish. Moose's has a rocky tavern vibe, plenty of big screens for games, and is a super chill place to hang all night. Free parking lot outside.

Used to go there when it was in Stadium and enjoyed it. Like the new location, menu is pricy, and food is horrible, so after 3 tries we will never go back! First time ordered the pork ribs, they were dry/ overcooked, the worse part they were so stinky I couldn't even try one and had to get the waitress to take them back before I puked.. Next time tried wings, described on the menu as "double cooked". They were boiled, rubbery and tasteless. The waitress argued that they were grilled, but they were pale and didn't have a single grill mark. Needless to say we couldn't even eat them. Also tried nachos and for $24 you would expect a decent sharing platter. Hard to screw up nachos but they came with 1 tiny (2 tbsp) plastic containerof salsa to share and $4 if you wanted more. Three strikes, your out! This is not the Moose Mcguires it used to be.

We spend a fair amount of time here meeting friends. It is very easily accessible, parking can be a bit of a nuisance but it's easy to figure out. Wings are always good. I tried their pizza for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. Thick, crispy yet soft crust with evenly distributed toppings. Very nicely done. Their nachos are thoroughly layered with toppings (hinging on too few chips if I must be honest) but I'm not complaining. They are so good. Staff are always friendly and professional and the space is clean and big with lots of seating options. We frequented this place when it was on 16th Ave NW and it wasn't this good. The new location has improved everything about it.

UPDATE: MAY 2022 ================= This was my first visit at the new location. As always like the previous location, this one does not disappoint. Great meal for my lady and I. Good tap beer, tasty Caesar cocktails and real fine food. Our server (Helina) was friendly and very attentive. All this in a fabulous atmosphere. Prices were consistent with the inflated economy. We will both return here again and look forward to our next visit. ================================== ================================== I return here often for the fine pub grub and comfy atmosphere. The nachos are always crisp, never soggy and the toppings are always fresh and delicious including the jalapenos. Good tap beer selection. Prompt and friendly staff. I'll be back.

Not a bad place for a beer or two. Has pool tables in a separate room. Trimmed with beautiful riverstones on the walls and photos of early Calgary. They also finesse some walls with pallet board. Two to three owners ago, when it was called Riverstone Pub, it was much more the hub of activity with the community. The bartenders were great, friendly and knew your name. They also had live music nights which were very popular and fun. Not sure why these owners appeared to basically decommissioned the stage and never do live music. Again Not a bad place for a couple of beers, but it used to be so much more a destination. What a shame they don't bring that back.

Breanna was 10 out of 10. I have never been here before so when I called she answered the phone. It was her kind friendly inviting voice that brought me me not just the Google reviews. She was just as pleasant when we arrived and all the way through our lunch service. Even the owner greeted us when we arrived and welcomed us with open arms. As for the chicken wings wow best wings I have had in Calgary. And I have had lots. I would highly recommend this place for the best wings in Calgary and top notch service all the way through. I drove 20 min to get the the restaurant and I will do it again. We'll worth the drive. Thanks to the whole team you all came together for a great experience thanks.

This hidden little gem has a wonderful selection of craft beer; including a specific beer that was brewed ( off site) just for their location/business. The staff was very friendly, professional, and beautifully soulful waitresses. Along side the many large television screens, a perfect place for gathering for any game. They have enough TVs to show them all. They also have pool tables and tall bar stools and such. Would recommend this as a casual hangout. Didnt have the opportunity to try the food, but I'm sure the sports fan would go elsewhere if it weren't good. Bonus, they provide the four hours of free parking.

Started going here when it was the Riverbend pub, 15yrs ago, now I go out of my way to check in. Friendly cool Bartenders, Vlts, pool tables, tons of tv's to watch the game. Lots of room at the huge bar, very safe for Everyone, lots of booths, wicked friendly staff. Good prices, huge food menu. Ordered wings, way over cooked, I think they half cook them then finish when ordered. Very disappointed. Waitress didn't offer to rectify/reimburse, which is standard practice in most restaurants. But, everything else, beer and atmosphere is great. Welcoming always enjoyed around Christmas time, it has that feeling

  • Laura Dupuis

Maybe it's the name change and whatever subsequent changes happened after but I used to have a great experience and this week it was terrible. Our server was fine, seemed new and probably had too many tables but otherwise did a good job. The floor manager however was rude multiple times and despite us clarifying that we could take home leftover wings with the server, the manager made a point to tell us it's not normally policy to allow that and basically blamed their wing shortage on us. For a whopping two orders that were being taken home between the 10 the group of us ordered. Will not be returning.

Quick summary: great bar with good food, good drinks and cheap pool. I come here often enough to say that moose is consistently good and I will continue to go back as long as it’s here. The dirty Annie wings are fantastic and the nachos are wonderful too. The pool is $5 an hour and the two tables are actually in good shape. The daily specials are good deals and there is likely a day that everyone will want to go to. So definitely check this place out! (P.S. the parking is actually free, there is a tablet stand inside to register your plate so you don’t have to pay)

It is one of my favorit place in Calgary. I remember the time, when it was located near UofC, so it was so easy to get there for students and stuff. Now it is still not far from the UofC. The menu has changed a little, but still pretty much the same. Unfortunatally, they do not serve Frings any more, and no Honey Broun beer, but the atmosphere is very warm and attractive. I like this place

Friendly staff and fast service. I had lunch here and it was good and the price was fair. Be very careful where you park here. This place is on the north side of 16 Avenue (Trans Canada Highway) and the Foothills Hospital is on the south side. So parking is an issue. The parking lot here is a Impark lot so make sure you pay for parking. My friend ending up with a parking ticket that cost more that his lunch. The staff did not warn us about parking. I did not notice any warning at the pub. I am not sure if there are reserved stalls for customers.

Went for a burger and a beer with a friend and was not disappointed. They did have a couple of craft beers to choose from, would like to see a few more. The service was prompt and friendly. The mushroom Swiss burger had two good sized patties and they were juicy and tasty and the burger was well portioned and condimented (is that a word?). Comes with actual fresh cut fries which is always a bonus. Server gave me too much cash back on my bill by mistake, but I caught her in time. Only disappointed that the pool tables were off limits still.

  • Bonni Campbell

We ordered pizza and it was taking a long time. I asked our server how much longer and she said she was busy on the computer and could not answer. The pizza finally came it was the wrong size and cold. We had no utensils to eat it. I asked for a manager the bartender Jake eventually came over asked what’s your problem. I explained and he folded his hands behind his back and said if I have a problem then don’t come back and walked away before I could respond. I have been a customer since it opened.

  • Dan McCleary

Ordered takeout and it was very tasty. Had the big moose pizza, a vintage burger, Californiegg burger, and poutine. Sides were Cesar salad and fries. The salad dressing didn't seem like Kraft out of a bottle; homemade? The burgers were excellent. The food traveled well and they don't use styrofoam. The interior looked great. Very clean. Only criticisms are the double burger seems like too much burger as a default size, and there aren't any vegetarian options on the menu other than 1 pizza.

  • Mike Metcalfe

We used to go to to the old site at Stadium and enjoyed the food, we tried the new place 3 times now ( Thought we would try again )and have to say I have never had food that bad anywhere. 3 times now the food has been beyond terrible. I would like the owner/manager to take charge of the kitchen and send out some good food. We will not be going back and will ,let others know not to go there. P.S. the young waitress there was very good and worked hard on trying to make things right.

  • Chad Milroy

A work colleague took me here today for the first time!! Wow, I didn’t even realize this was the original Moose McGuire’s, just in a different location. Our server, Rachel, was great. Super friendly and knowledgeable! We enjoyed club sandwich and the daily lunch special: vintage burger. We each had the French Onion Soup as our side. This place has an awesome vibe and wasn’t overly busy for lunch. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great first experience!

  • Sharla Major

This place is amazing! We had a 50+ person event and they went above and beyond. Melanie was an excellent waitress who served us all. She was friendly, fast and helpful. Falyn helped us book the room and we had a last minute change and the pub readily helped!! Our group was well taken care of and we had ordered many pizza's and it was fantastic! Thank you to all that helped us have a successful party for our members and we will be back!!!

So nice to have a new pub in our neighborhood open up, after closure of the Riverstone. The restaurant itself is very clean and well sanitized and they have signs on each table, indicating whether it has been sanitized or not. Tables are well spaced out. Staff and owner very friendly and welcoming. Food was very good. Wing specials tuesday evenings, with lots of varieties to choose from. Highly recommend trying out our new neighborhood pub.

  • Margaret Francis

Food was good for pub fare. I had the fish tacos, the mango was great but the fish are way over battered and could only taste batter and not the fish. My partner had the Taco pizza, I had a few bites and it was not my cup of tea, but he said it was good. The wait staff was excellent, however we had to wait a long time for the pizza due to a kitchen error.

Great pub! The atmosphere is very rustic. The main bar has all its liquors on display. Couple of pool tables for entertainment. There are tvs everywhere so you are never pressed for a bad viewing angle. The food is also great here! I would say try the fried pickles they are amazing! The staff are also very friendly and give fast service. All in all a great place to have a drink by your self or with a group! 4/5

Met my wife at the Moose Mcguires by the University 15 years ago. We are still together and we still love coming here! New location but still the same awesome people and food. In 15 years, I have still not had a better clubhouse sandwich and french onion soup! Highly recommend this pub!

Friendly service. Classic tunes worth singing along to. Thanks Rachel. Nachos and beef dip worked well with Tool Shed Red Rage and couple of glasses of Chianti. Hidden gem. Small entrance. Yet, step inside - spacious. Perfect booths. Lounge chairs. Bar seating. Stone work on walls and bar with wooden floors make it down to earth. Moose head greets you. Regulars swear by it. Good times. All you need.

The new location for moose Maguire's is quite good. I like the renovation that they've done and there's lots of large TVs for watching sports. They've got great specials and the staff and ownership is very attentive. They want you to feel welcome and have a good time. I really enjoy their double baked chicken wings special on Tuesday night. I come here with friends after we play basketball.

Recommended by a co worker, the place was really clean and well kept! Figured I would try it out as it took over the Riverstone building. Was not disappointed! Kevin was really nice and had a good chat about the industry for 15 mins! The bartender Yorkie was also really good. Had the bookers brisket sandwich and it was sooo good! Def recommend if you're looking to support local!!

Haven't been here in the evening or a weekend, but I do frequently have lunch here and though the atmosphere is more chilled during the day, it's a clean place, always friendly staff, great service and the food is made fresh. The cook makes things from scratch and is tactful in giving the food that pub authenticity with quality! Prices are reasonable as well

  • Andrew

Our experience was ok. Ended up only staying for a drink and going elsewhere for food because of limited vegetarian options for my wife. Service was very friendly, but wasn't quick. I will try again for a happy hour or wing night maybe. But, I'm not sure if I will try again for a simple date night with the wife. If I return I will adjust my review accordingly.

  • Julie Curran

Very nicely laid out large pub with a west facing patio. They have good daily specials and the staff are very friendly and prompt. However, the last time I was there it was finally a nice day, (+11c), and they had the AC on! It was cold inside which is especially bad when you've worked outside all day. You come in a bit sweaty and then catch a horrible chill.

Went there for the first time last night (a thursday). Ordered a craft beer that I'm very familiar with, and it tasted watered down. Tried a different craft beer for my second drink. Another beer that I'm very familiar with, same thing. Totally watered down. It's too bad, was a great place other than that. But doubt I'll go back.

  • Sam S

Went for wing night and was great to find Moose’s, actually a lot bigger inside than I expected with a nice mix of booths, high tops and tables, expansive bar seating plus a second section with pool tables. Wings were great, good selection of flavour preparations, and an awesome deal on a Tuesday night. Will definitely be back.

  • Altitude 1804 Property Management Calgary

Great place to drop in for a bite and a brew. Solid drink selection, great prices, and the food is towards the top of the spectrum for Pub fare. The chicken wings are among the best in the city, and they don't cheap out with crappy chicken on Wing Night (like a lot of other pubs do)! One of my favorite spots in the entire city.

The bartenders and servers are some some of some of the friendliest staff I've ever come across. Good specials and awesome fish tacos! For 10.95 on Wednesdays wuuuut! (10.45? Neither? Who knows either way it's rad) this place is everything you should be looking for in a friendly neighborhood pub. #keepthemoosealive

COVID was not kind to many establishments in YYC. Thankfully, the Moose was able to claw it's way through the mask trodden challenge. The staff are amazing, friendly and welcoming. The food is always made with care, nothing but good things for the hard work the kitchen staff do to make sure their patrons are fed.

  • Aaron H

Bartender was really friendly there ...I go there to play the video slots and it's comfy and kinda out the way there is a big area there to play pool and there's other games like deer Hunter ... It's a pretty nice place with a good atmosphere and lots of space if you want to go with a bunch of people

  • Len Seib

We go to Moose's after ball on Monday mornings. We often sit out on the patio, where we have some laughs and a few adult beverages to wash down the dust. Service is always very good and they have developed a new cocktail for us. The summer sensation RPG. Food is also tasty and reasonably priced.

  • David

Probably the best happy hour wings in town, no joke. The wings actually have a good amount of meat on them unlike other bars. Plus, they grill them with the sauce on so you get some of that char flavor. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly servers, and killer happy hour deals. What more do you want?

  • Michila McKerracher

I have gone to Moose MaGuires since it first opened and love it! The new location does not disappoint and have kept the decor authentic to the original! This will continue to be our ‘local’ as Foothill hospital staff! Their wings and all their food is amazing❤️ I’m so happy they reopened!!

  • Imhemlocke Curare

Not impressed,, average at best, but not bad enough to actually avoid. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again, but would not object if someone wanted to go. Food was adequate, drinks were standard 16 Oz pints, and there is some sort of weird parking lot rules,, be aware of that.

  • Stuart McConnell

Nice corner pub, with excellent food and friendly staff. Not much has changed since Riverstone Pub has gone out of business, but there have been some small renovations. There are VLT's, a few pool tables and a dartboard as well. There is also a fair amount of parking space out front.

  • Y L

Really tasty and affordable. Great sports bar in a city where it can be hard to find good sports bars. Good beer selection. Go out of your way to get something with sauces -- they make all of these from scratch and they're unique and tasty across the board.

  • Chris Arsenault

I was a regular here when it was the Riverstone.... miss that place... But I'm really happy at least a really good bar was built in its place.... gad! .. it could be a vegan lesbian coffee shop..all it needs is live music and I'd be all set.. cheers C

Great renewed interior and renewed opening of the old moose, at this strip mall bar. Cozy and very comfortable by the fireplace. Crispy chicken sandwich was a little dry and overcooked. I think its worth another try on a cold day by the fire.

35 cent wings on Tuesdays with Happy Hour from 4 to you can't go wrong. Lots of big screens to watch the game and 2 pool tables. Good service, meaty wings and decent on tap selection unless you are looking for micro brews.

Waited a long time to have order taken and when the pizza came it was awe full. It was very undercooked, there was barely and cheese and way too much sauce. If you go only have a drink, the food is definitely not worth it.

Pretty good little bar. Didn't eat, and they didn't have gluten free beer (I'm celiac) but the wine was good. Little steep on the price but altogether not bad.

Great place for watching a game. Good is good and very reasonably priced. I've always had good service. They also have pool tables which is a big draw for me.

Only really been for lunch, but great place for a burger or beef dip. Pretty packed when I was there for wing night. Really like the people who work there!

Lots of changes to this spot in the last decade. I went with a friend for wing night and really enjoyed it. It was nice and busy and we had a good server.

Watched Grey Cup. 1st time here. Seems like a good watering hole. Did not try the food but it looked good.

Pleasant layout, each day of the week multiple specials in food and drinks. Happy hour drinks weekdays 2-4! Patio small, cozy, no heaters yet!

Classic pub, classic pub food. Low key location friendly staff. Probably one of the best French onion soups ever. Period. Would recommend.
