We started the day having coffee at the Art Gallery before viewing the Archibald Prize. We were very impressed with the way they controlled the large crowd. We managed to see the entire exhibition without crowd crush. After the exhibition we made our way to Main Street Morning for lunch. Because we were there on a Saturday most places were booked out, however we found a very nice cozy restaurant Squire's Loft. The staff were very obliging and patient while we all decided on meals and wines. We had only one concern which can't be helped, and that was screaming, crying children, fortunately it was toward the end of our meal. The meals were enormous, we couldn't eat everything and that included the hamburgers.

Visited the current exhibition, National Works on Paper. Simply blown away by the works on display! The variety of styles, mark making, subject matter and in some cases, sheer technical brilliance is truly impressive. Some of the works triggered strong emotional responses and almost all commanded careful scrutiny. Some of the works are epic in scale, and others are exquisite in their delicate design, detail, and exacting production. It's always a pleasure to visit the beautiful MPRG, but for us this was absolutely one of the best exhibitions we have attended - anywhere. And it's free! The photos don't even get close to matching the wonder of seeing the works up close; just go see for yourself. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful visit to the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery. The staff was not only friendly but also highly knowledgeable, which added depth to the experience. The gallery itself is a charming small space, creating an intimate atmosphere for art appreciation. One highlight was having the Archibald Prize Exhibition available locally. It's a fantastic opportunity for art enthusiasts in the area to enjoy this prestigious exhibition without having to travel far. Overall, a great cultural destination for anyone interested in art and a delightful addition to the local community.

An excellent experience. Right near the Mornington Botanical Gardens, and a beautiful drive away this thought provoking and fascinating exhibition, was well worth a look. Our visit was elevated by a talk from the three talented women curators, (Mornington Peninsula and National Gallery of Victoria), helping to reveal the art of Australian women, from history and today. His..story indeed. Her..story has been there all along... Inspiring and beautiful. ❤️

Went there later in the day on Sunday. While it was at capacity, we were able to go to adjoining cafe around 3:30 pm and waited 30 minutes, ordered a decaf coffee then entered with minimal fish. Woman at ticket box told me that it had been hectic earlier in the day. The Archies are a highlight of the Aussie Art world. So many gifted people mesmerising the audience and the winner used multimedia (not in audio/visual), which featured textiles.

The Archibald Finalists 2023 are well worth a visit. It's best to book ahead. We took a train to Frankston and a bus to the Gallery. The beautiful rose garden next door is amazing too. Public transport is a great way to get to the Art Gallery and it's only 15 minutes to walk to the main shopping centre in Mornington from there.

Very disappointed in the customer service with regard to tickets for Archibald Prize. Staff not answering phones all afternoon . Booking service informing me they will deal with my issue in 4 days when I clearly stated that I need an answer before that. No way to treat people. Shame on the Gallery.

Went to the Archibald Prize here. It was well organised and people flowed through fairly smoothly. The exhibition was enjoyable. The only drawback was Eventbrite, the ticket booking system, it made a mistake with my booking and there was no way to fix it on the website and no-one to talk to by phone.

Saw the Archibald prize here and loved it. A couple of pop up cafes on site with good coffee. A cute gift shop and friendly staff throughout the gallery. It’s not huge but easy enough to spend an hour browsing.

We went on a Friday night for the Dromana Habitat + MPRG collaboration. It had a lovely atmosphere, our 2 young boys loved being able to play the outdoor piano, and particularly enjoyed the live music.

Love our regional galleries. This one might be small but they deliver on quality exhibitions. Worth visiting for their current "Know My Name" exhibition, featuring Australian women artists

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of exhibits in this unassuming gallery. Especially when it looks really benal from the outside. The paper themed exhibit is really evocative. Pillow stain artwork left us impressed, amused and thinking further. Free entry!

Free entry. This gallery contains a collection of modern exhibits. Allow 30-60mins to explore. Conveniently located next to the Rose Botanical Garden (allow 15mins to explore).

Great to see the Archibald entries at our fabulous gallery in Mornington. Being a ticketed and timed event it was not crowded so plenty of opportunity to enjoy each piece.

A good little gallery but very hard to see all the Archibald prize entrants, too many people crammed into the small space. A pity we didn't know about the pop-up food and drink stalls as we would have had lunch there as well.

  • Darryl Cowen

First rate. Easy parking, nice open plan gallery, very friendly helpful staff. Could do with an “on site” Cafe. On our visit, there were only two (what appeared to be) temporary cafe’s next to the Gallery.

This has to be one of the best galleries on the Mornington Peninsula, always great displays, lovely staff, parking is easy, a lovely gift shop and the cafe is well serviced More

Archibald Prize exhibition was excellent. The different styles of art, the subjects and the stories about how artist and subject related all worked well together. More

We enjoyed the Archibald Exhibition not much else to do nearby and inclement weather whilst waiting for our time slot meant a walk in impeding rain.& cold. More

The Archibald was the best that I think has been staged. Lovely space. Loved the outdoor seated area. Rose Garden was beautiful.
