One of our favourite museums ever. It highlights the unsung work and creativity of women from small villages in Morocco, in a lovely tranquil space. Also has a great rooftop terrace where you can enjoy tea and treats. Better yet, you can now actually stay there! Search Dar Dallah, the Riad’s name, on google or booking dot com. The rooms are gorgeous! We’ll be staying there next time we’re in Marrakesh.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and don't miss this small but mighty museum. Not only are the rugs gorgeous, but the stories behind them are incredibly touching. Also beautiful is the Riad in which they are displayed. We were the only ones there when we went and spent a long time both contemplating the art of the rugs and enjoying the beautiful roof deck. This place is truly a labor of love

This is just the most wonderful small museum come art gallery. The display of rag rugs and accompanying explanations is superb. We then met the owner Patrick who explained the history of the exhibition, the techniques involved and the individual stories behind much of the work. Fascinating Emotional Touching and Informative. Don't miss this experience when in Marrakesh.

Wonderful little museum! Very tranquil place to walk around, which is much needed in Marrakech! It does seem a tad hit and miss actually getting in, as when we went the person had nipped out for a few minutes. However, I have attached 2 pictures of the front so can see the front door! The terrace is fantastic. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip, and I'm not even a rug lover!

Absolute oasis in the epic center of Marrakech. Not only have they beautiful rugs on show but the whole composition of the riad adds great value to the experience as a whole. With such passion and care this museum is an example of near perfection to many other small museums all over the world. Five plus, no doubt!

Although this isn't a large museum I highly recommend it. The art and stories behind the pieces are very interesting. It also has a beautiful courtyard and amazing views from the roof. Even though it's not too big we spent over an hour there walking through the various rooms. We would go back.

Five stars! Fascinating, unique works of art. I’m so glad I took the time to visit this small, private gallery. I’m especially glad that these treasures are getting the attention they deserve.

Museum where you can see interesting pieces of artistic carpets. Although what I have enjoyed the most was the building itself. It has very nice atrium and amazing terrace with even better views. It might be a bit tricky getting there, but it’s feasible with google maps ;).

Tiny hidden gem. Learn about Boucharouite rug making (self guided tour) in a quaint Riad dedicated to the rugs and the stories of the women who make them. Loved this museum.

Wonderful place. Bit tricky to find but it’s definitely a hidden gem and worth the visit. Even if you are not a rug lover you will see the beauty of it since the entire building is a piece of art. :)

Nice place to escape from the chaotic streets surrounding it. Pretty rooftop as well. The museum displays are not very interesting at least to me and seemed a bit random. The place looks like a nice peaceful riad (probably functioned as one previously).

This place is interesting in two ways: The exhibition is about rugs weaved by working class families, with old textile stripes or woven into flour bags. They were never meant to be exhibited, which makes seeing the rugs special. The museum … المزيد

I can not recommend this place highly enough. The owner is infectiously enthusiastic about his collection and how it communicates Moroccan culture. After a morning in the souks, it's a great oasis of calm. Definitely get tea on the roof terrace!

  • Richard Westmoreland

A little hard to find without Google maps but it was an interesting visit. Descriptions are all in English and French and go into detail about this form of carpet making and the ladies who do it. The cafe is also reasonably cheap and tasty.

An incredibly intimate experience if you know what to look for! If the owner (Patrick De Maillard) is around, it is a MUST to have a chat with him - through his anecdotes and stories, each item in the Riad springs vividly into life.

  • Nicola Paraskos

Extraordinary museum/riad. The private collection of Patrick de Maillard. We were lucky to meet him & he gave us a tour, which was fascinating and unique. If we ever stay in Marrakech again, I would be tempted to stay in the riad.

  • Naima K

Unique place and a unique experience. In a small street, with hardly any tourists. A Riad which is still operating and a museum. Great find in Marrakech. Different type of rugs, very interesting to see the weaving styles.

  • Melissa Burns

This place was pretty small, and it looked like the inside of someones home (and there was children running around without any supervision???). The carpets we did see were cool, just not a lot there.

Walked ALL this way for them to just tell us they’re CLOSED. Museum also nearly impossible to find

A beautiful array of rag rugs and artwork set back from the hustle and bustle of the Souks, a tranquil oasis :) Stop and have tea/coffee on the sun terrace, it is amazingly peaceful!

Great Moroccan experience, the house has a lovely vibe, it costs only 40 Dhs and you are left to explore the museum alone. Call the number in the photo to enter the museum. المزيد

Beautiful pieces of art. Mostly hand made knotted carpets. Astoneshing symbolics. The museum is a oasis in the midst of a hectic medina.

  • Sarah Chu

Beautiful museum with one of a kind weavings, highly recommend drinking coffee on the terrace after exploring the gallery.

  • Harshadkumar Patel

Unique, ornate space showcasing the intricate art of Moroccan rugs and the stories behind them !!!
