The building that now hosts the museum was in fact the place where incoming immigrants stayed at their arrival in Brasil, before going to work in the fazendas of coffee. The yard is now a beautiful garden just close to the train station - today metro. An absolute experience you must do. There is a great collection of cards and documents which are also available on computer, the story of the multitude of European immigrants is the story of the single man, the single marriage, the single family and the journey he or she made to this New World. Moving and inspiring experience. Beautiful and new space setting.

Great to learn about the history of immigration in Brazil. The museum is a little disorganized and lack of directions after entering the court yard. It also lacks of history diversity when it comes to Immigration groups such as Japanese. I hope they have more sections targeting different groups instead of just one for modern day African Immigration experience. What about a section for each of the following: Portuguese, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, etc.

  • Lucian Dietsche

Design-wise great, they put a lot of effort in designing the exhibition and it turned out really well. The building is well preserved and the park is well done. I was a little disappointed by the content of the exhibition itself: First it is rather small and second it glorifies immigration in Brazil a little too much with the extensive design. I'd prefer some more realistic rooms so you can imagine the circumstances back in the days a little better.

  • Andre Pestana

You will have a better experience if you buy the audio tour. Still, the museum doens't go deep in any of the immigrations subjects, restricting itself to explain the life of the people who lived in that house. I think it would be better if they explained the migratory flowns from the main countries to São Paulo and its impact

Fantastic museum about the immigration to Brasil and São Paulo since the end of the 19th century. Really enlightening. I love the testimonials videos. Check out the letters from different countries with the immigration authorizations. Brazilian or not, this museum will resonate with you. One of the hidden gems in São Paulo.

If you go by metro, get off at “bresser” station, do not get off at “bras”. I highly recommend this museum. If you do not take the steam train, you can still follow the track, walk backwards to take a look at the small museum of trains.

It's a historical place that tries to bring back to our conciousness all kind of immigrants that colonized Brazil. As a jew, I admit that I got a little frustrated to not find more than two pictures related to my heritage. Not to mention the afro descendants who doesn't appear as a foundation of this country as well.

There is an outside area very nice where you can sit on the grass with trees and flowers. Inside there are some media exhibitions regarding immigration in Brazil. Free entrance. Only downside is that there is no parking but it is a cul-de-sac so you can park on the street.

I wanted to research on the record of how my father immigrated a long time ago, so I paid the tickets to get in, but the research facility wasn’t in there. It was difficult to find out the place. You have to wait

I had high expectations, most of the content can be found on the internet. What I enjoyed the most was the exhibition about the colonization in Brazil.
