The first time in the mosque for me - as a daughter of a Muslim father - the experience was intense. I was the photographer and the grieving child. It actually helped to know what to do and how to behave. But the camera know no boundaries. The staff and congregation were extremely helpful to all of us. Particularly the ones who weren’t practicing Muslims. It couldn’t have been a better send off for my father - surrounded by the people who I have seen for years in his shops, at his side, and later at his hospital bed - holding his hand. It made me feel so incredibly loved to see the friends he had here prepared to manage his ‘soul’ departure from earth so efficiently. The team here organized the entire proceedings - the burial occurred at Eden Valley Natural Burial Grounds, Edenbridge. They made the trek out from Carshalton to Edenbridge and meticulously buried my father with great care and grace! Thank you Wentworth Hall!

Great Mosque in terms of a phisycal building which our generous local Muslim community bought in 2009and refurbished it in 2011 reopened in April 2013. But interms of religious activities and services the Trustees and the committee management are very lay back to put it politely our Muslim youth and children in particular are not benefiting from the Moaque at all when it comes to inspiring them guiding them, keeping the attached to the Mosque and the Islamic teaching and keeping then interested in learning the knowledge of their religion. All this because the commitee management and the trustee took the positions on the paper but they have no commitment or sincer desire to benefit the community. Many of them are unknown to the vast majority of the community because they are rarely seen at the centre, mainly 15-20 min at friday pray and then they leave, that is all.

The Muslim cultural Welfare mosque is a lovely place that anyone is welcome too. On Saturdays an exhibit takes place where you can look at the history of Islam, how the religion proves it is true and also the holy book (The quran) is displayed in multiple languages like Persian and Chinese. They also host youth services for kids on the last Friday of every month, that has gained a lot of acclaim from participants and parents alike. The youth service for boys includes: dodgeball, football, PS4 and fifa and also nearing the end of the session a pizza break which is obviously halal. The girls one is similar but it also has cooking which is also thoroughly enjoyed by the girls. ANY questions you have I can answer just leave a comment

It's a local place to me, and I'm a regular visitor, serves a fantastic services to the community, place of worship for those who would want to do five times a day regular prayer in congregation and alone, Friday prayers is held, parking around the centre is free, but busy during Friday's and school times, there are other communal activities held, please keep an eye on the website for regular updates. thanks

I stayed here for 10 nights of I'tikaf and was pleasantly surprised by this mosque. Its a beautiful place with great management and brotherhood. The mosque is very well taken care of and is an ideal place for families. The community as a whole here is also extremely welcoming. This place is a real gem, don't pass up the opportunity to pray here!

  • Kashif Barlas

Well maintained mosque and community centre with some excellent initiatives supported by groups of local Sutton and Carshalton residents. Finding its purpose in an uncertain climate with solid foundations by the Grace of God. May local people of all faiths (or indeed of no faith) benefit from its continued presence and work.
