I was the class of 1969. THIS SCHOOL HAD PRODUCED SOME OF THE FINNEST STUDENTS. During my school days I was doing school broadcast programmes at Karchi Radio. PTV and recording radio dramas for Voice of Americ, working with Rahat Saeed, Qasim Jalali and Amir Imam just a few of the famous people. I went on to work for the Daily Dawn. I am now settled in London and has worked as a principal Manager for The local government in many prestigious department and has been interviewed and my achievements had been acknowledged and featured in the media. I have worked with politicians on projects and has been blessed by Allah swt to be recognised and respected immensely.

NJV School entrance The Narayan Jagannath Vaidya High Schoolat Karachi was the first government school established in Sindh. It was opened in October 1855 with 68 boys. The original buildings were replaced by the present ones in 1876. It was named after the visionary Narayan Jagannath Vaidya after his death. In March 1916, the school had 477 students, of whom 350 were Hindus, 32 Brahmins, 10 Jains, 12 Muslims, 66 Parsis and seven Indian Jews. Notable alumni include Jamshed Nusserwanjee Mehta, the first mayor of Karachi in 1933 and more recently Yawar Malik, an under-18 national gymnastics champion.

What a wonder! The school is still operating this long in a Muslim nation. High regards for the management who am sure are staunchly opposing the renaming of this unique school and preserving the heritage of their Indian connection. Much obliged for the good work of Akhuwat Foundation and appreciate their efforts to restore the school to its former glory. May Allah Bless Them Generously. (Edited my 2yr old review) Thank You Irfan, Nisar, Haroon for the beautiful pictures of the school. Because of your pride in such a heritage we are able to view the beauty from across the border.

This historical school is run by the AKHUWAT Foundation with the cooperation of the Sind government. Kids from under privileged families of Sind only study here. The management has revived and maintained the historical building very nicely. The facilities that they are providing to the students are exceptional. Even kids of good private schools do not have such facilities. They also work hard on their personality building. Currently there are 1500+ students studying absolutely free including about 400 students living in their hostel. We should encourage and donate such institutes.

I'm glad to see that Marathi name school preserves history today also in Karachi. I was just going through review then I realised that school is also doing their best. I also feels like surprised because they have preserved their play ground somewhat same as it is in India today. We feel very proud that this remain forever in pakistan. Also when I took some time look out the infrastructure, fantastic..! Happy to seeing that students from this school are also have good reputation towards their past school. Really I surprised when I see this. Love from India ❤️

learning experience to visit The Narayan Jagannath Vaidya(NJV) Government Higher Secondary School at Saddar. Initially established in October 1855, it was probably first public school in Karachi. The school with its iconic building on main MA Jinnah road and glorious past has produced many pupils of well repute and excellence. Presently it is being administrated by Akhuwat Foundation. School is well equipped with all the faculties and facilities for modern, inclusive education. Indeed it is an island of excellence and replicable endeavour.

I have studied in this school for five years from 1996 -2000 and I don't know how to thank enough of what I have learned during my time there. NJV is one of the most memorable time I had in my life and the foundations of what I know today. I have never taken any tution other than what I got from school.

Oldest educational institute of karachi build before partition and as the name suggest build by hindu businessman there are lot of places like this school but day by day they are being converted to another names so people can’t remember the actual history of the places. Hope this name remain as it is.

This is the school where I want to admit my son just because of the dignity of akhuwwat foundation. This is the first ever government school which name not only stated HIGH school they're proving that our education can be more better than private high schools and can be defeatd to private school...

  • Ghazanfar Ali Shaikh

As the name suggests, one of the oldest educational institution in Karachi. Architecture of the building typically resembles other institutions that were constructed in that era. Apart from that standard of education unfortunately is not exemplary currently.

  • Ramz Ali

One of the finest school in Karachi. my younger brother has been granted a scholarship in this school by Sindh Education Foundation, the building is wonderful with overall boarding, School is having a finest and historical library as well.

  • Bilal Danish

Very very impressive work done by akhuwat foundation and government to bring this school to life amazing infrastructure and several facilities that are not available in private expensive schools like available here

  • Nisar Palla

As you walk in you can feel the history buried in the architecture and the trees surrounding the building. The building has been renovated but the old style remains. A must visit at least once.

  • Kashif Aziz

One of the oldest schools of Karachi that was nationalized and currently managed by the Sindh government. Well maintained building. The school hosts a plethora of extracurricular activities.

  • Khizar Rashid

Too good. One must visit to see how well they are managing this place. Akhuwat foundation is managing the school very well. Mashallah!

  • Nadira Zaidi

The school is extremely well maintained and is the site for 3 installations of the Karachi Binnale 2022 till November 13th 2022.
