Hands down the best Animal Hospital I have ever been to. Each and everyone of the staff members are extremely caring and know the value of what our pets mean to us. I'm unfortunate in the sense my dachshund has had some health problems, but extremely fortunate that it's Nelson Animal Hospital I get to take her to. Each and every single time I've walked in the door, the service is absolutely unlike any other. The staff are so patient and profession with us worries owners and make you feel as everything will be handled to the best of their abilities, which seem endless. Each and every staff member are so knowledgeable and have a calm and cool attitude. With myself being a crazy and over protective dog owner, they make me feel so at ease. They do not push you in anyway to spend money on unnecessary tests or products. They speak from the heart as if they were talking to their own family member. I remember I told them once, I would like to do what I can for my baby, but I hate to say that I don't have all the money in the world. They completely agreed and didn't make me feel horrible as that's just the case for anyone! They gave me a few different options of what I could do, cost efficient and a more direct route and explained the pros and cons for each. I did not feel and pressure at all. Dr.Sharon Grant has got to be one of the loveliest ladies I have ever met in my life, and I mean that whole heartedly. She is so compassionate and well informed that when she explains to you what she thinks needs to happen, you truly believe your beloved pet is in the best of hands. Nelson Animal Hospital without a doubt goes the distance when it comes to our pets. I will NEVER go anywhere else in the world. It's a 5 star service, and it will not break your bank. I am so fortunate to have heard about this lovely Hospital. Thank you for all you do! -Dahlias Mommy <3

Extremely rude and unprofessional receptionist. I politely inquired about the cost of a recheck after my dog had been in for her initial appointment two days prior. The receptionist was not clear about the cost of a recheck fee. I told her my dog was doing better and would not require further tests and was wondering if they do an initial no charge recheck, which is common with many other vets if it’s for the same condition within a specific period of time after the initial appointment. Instead of discussing the clinic's protocol she decided to hang up on me. I would like to stress that I was extremely polite and calm with her during the brief phone call even though it was clear she did not have basic knowledge. Treating clients this way is not acceptable and reflects poorly on the business. For the initial appointment, the vet was very nice. She called after the appointment as she had made a minor error on the dispensing instructions of my dog’s medication, which I greatly appreciate. The prices are definitely higher than average. I was not told the cost of anything prior to being charged which is also bad business practice.

Our cat was experiencing medical issues and as we were attempting to spay her the first time, we found out she had an infection. She had gone in on 3 occasions in attempts to have her spayed but she had an infection which got progressively worse. The vet tried several options but nothing seemed to be working as spaying her immediately they would have to be more careful with an infection. Finally, we set up an appointment with the vet to spay her the following week no matter what because the infection was not going away due to hormones but then the same night, our cat experienced great discomfort and it could not wait a week. We sent an email at midnight in which the owner, Dr. Quinn actually replied to advising us to bring her in the following day. Our little Ava was taken care of and spaying her healed her infection instantly. The Staff was incredible and so accomodating. The Staff really care about their patients; both people and pets. Thank you Nelson Animal Hospital and each Staff member for your amazing work you do.

I can't recommend this place enough. I had a cat with a horrible urinary tract problem. He had been to emerg and another vet but still wasn't getting better. I went to Nelson Animal Hospital for a second opinion. Dr. Grant was dedicated in resolving my cat's problem, even though it took weeks to fix. She communicated very well, explaining all the meds she was prescribing and why, explaining her working diagnosis and laying out options for his care. She even texted me pictures (when he spent the weekend there) and texted & called me regularly to check in after he'd gone home. I felt like I had someone who cared about my cat's recovery just as much as I did. Happily my cat is finally better and I've made Dr. Grant my regular vet.

I took my puppy there as a 2nd opinion to a diagnosis of kidney disease. We really liked the vet we saw. However, my puppy's condition deteriorated to the extent it was time to make that tough decision. It was a Saturday. I called in the morning in tears. The receptionist said the vet was with another patient but she would give the vet my message to call me. The clinic closed at noon & no call. I called my original vet & took him there the next day. It was the hardest & most emotional decision I've ever had to make. The vet finally called the following Tuesday or Wednesday. While my first impression was good, based on my last experience with this clinic I would never consult with them again.

I would give 0 stars if I could. It seems that one of the main vets that works here likes to rip loyal customers off when you are least aware of it. What I was charged was 2 times more of what other vets would have charged for the same service. Not to mention follow-ups at other vets would have been a courtesy visit with no charges but this vet will nickle and dime you for every single little thing. It is truly a breach of trust. They are polite and nice upfront but watch what they charge and not charge you for when you are least aware of it. I am sure I am not the only one who has had this issue with this vet and more will voice out so that others are aware of it.

Everytime I have been to this animal hospital it has been to put one of my sweet babies to sleep. There was nothing these fabulous vets could do for my babies. The care, compassion and professionalism the ENTIRE staff has shown me is beyond beautiful. I didn't get the answer I wanted but they all helped my babies the best they could. Dr. Best is aptly named. The other vet I've dealt with, who forgive me I can't remember her name, have been amazing. Vets have a very difficult job and deserve every praise. Thank you for being what I needed instead of what I wanted.

Most vets and their staff are nice, friendly and helpful. We have had cats and dogs for 25 years and have dealt with 2 different clinics. Just lately we have had a few visits to Nelson Animal Hospital on Guelph Line. It started out mostly to do with location. However, everything about the staff and care has been outstanding. The doctors are amazing ! I cannot give enough positive feedback about the entire group! Everyone truly cared and went out of their way to give their time, help and love to our pet.

We paid $118 plus tax just to get a quote. The vet looked at our dog for about 7 minutes, left for about 5 minutes and came back with a quote for what the work would cost. That quote cost us $118 plus tax, they didn't do any work on him, didn't even clip his nails. They may be polite and caring there (which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1), but I work hard for my money and that is ridiculous. The quote received was also high and they are not flexible. Only go here if you don't care about money.

Had to bring my sick senior cat in because he was degrading rather quickly and had to make the hard decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge. The staff were extremely caring and supportive and gave me as much time as I needed with him before and after. Not only that, but a few weeks later received a loving card signed by everyone that sits beside his little paw print memento, very unexpected and heartwarming (I bawled when I saw it). Thank you!

Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. My dog was not well. Requested an urgent appointment. Gave me an appointment after 3 days! Too busy. Let the animal suffer otherwise or go to the emergency. I had to take my dog to another vet in the neighborhood who saw him on the same day. Surprised at the rating they have. They should get negative rating for the no caring, too busy and unprofessional attitude of their staff.

I don't have enough words to describe how incredible the team at Nelson Animal Hospital are. They are caring and compassionate and treated us and our dog with respect and concern. We were not regular clients and they treated us as though they had been looking after our dog from the beginning. I can't sing the praises of this clinic, Dr. Quinn, Dr. Manjos, and the rest of the team enough.

I take my rabbit here and the vet he sees is so wonderful and kind to him. They put us in a room immediately every time I go so he’s not at risk to other animals. The lady at the desk is great and helpful in trying to solve emergencies. Called today and they didn’t have a vet in for bunnies so she recommended an online centre that helped me talk to someone today.

Our dogs love it here! We are so thankful to have found this gem a few years ago. The staff here are incredibly kind, patient and always go above and beyond to ensure our furry family members are comfortable and content. It is clear that the staff absolutely love animals and what they do. I am beyond thankful for them and all that they do in our community!

Thank you Dr Anderson and Meagan for the wonderful care of my cat Ilia, this is not his normal vet and we were anxious but they were super helpful and very kind and Ilia is doing so much better today thanks to Dr Anderson treatment plan. They are super accommodating and very good with updates. Thank you to the whole team for taking great care of my boy.

I’m extremely great for the team at Nelson Animal hospital. They looked after Louie my English bulldog from the day I brought him home and throughout his life. They were great with dealing with the issues English bulldogs have. And incredible in assisting with Louie’s pet insurance claims. Highly recommend them.

The best clinic ever! The compassion and care shown to my fur baby was exceptional; truly above and beyond. I would highly recommend Nelson Animal Hospital to anyone. To Dr Quinn, thank you sooooo much for the attention and care you gave to my Conner; it means the world to me to know he's in such good hands.

  • Katie Dumas

The staff were all amazing it was a very difficult time for us having to put our 12 year old collie Elsie to sleep. They were very kind and caring and did not rush us at all. I never really got the chance to thank them all because I was too upset. But I really appreciated everything they did for us.

  • Hannah Park

One of the best experiences I have ever had with a veterinary team for my bunny (and in general). You can tell they care as much about our fur babies as we do! It's hard to find veterinary clinics that see rabbits and I am so grateful for their love and care! The whole team is amazing."

Yesterday was was heartbreaking as we has to have our cat put to sleep, Dr Gibson and her staff were amazing, caring and compassionate, they gave us as much time as we needed with hm before the procedure. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hospital to anyone.

  • Kalpna Varshney

Dr. Pilliteri was wonderful. She is mo longer with the clinic and the new vet, Dr. Barret picked up on our TT Leia's lymphoma in the early stages. Equally competent. We hope that Leia's early diagnosis will help her live happily and for longer with prompt intervention.

  • Brenton

We had to say goodbye to our feline family member of 19 years. The vet was very compassionate and caring with us. The hospital was able to make an appointment very quickly as things degraded rather suddenly. Thank you for making this moment easier.

  • Sandra Walkden

My dog had anaesthesia for teeth and they did their best to make it cost effective with much care for the dog. It was definitely not a money grab situation. I trust them with diagnosis and being sensitive to what the costs are for people.

  • Louise Johnston

We are forever grateful to Sharon and the staff for their kindness and compassion. They took their time with us and gently helped us say goodbye to our 2 beloved pets, Duncan and Angel. Excellent care from an excellent hospital.
