I have previously left bad review before about my experience with having a week long stay, because of constant twitching seizure/stroke symptoms. I was hospitalised last October, and I'm still having to follow up with trying to find answers for what I was suffering with almost an entire year later. The Northern beaches hospital have falsified every medical document I have had to follow up with over a time period of 9 months. The hospital claimed they treated my symptoms with medication and that they got better. The hospital made no action towards correctly diagnosing or treating me, and forced me to prove I was mentally stable. Day 6 of my twitching like seizure was recorded on documents as day 3. What actually happened is I arrived via ambulance at 1am in the morning on the 19th of October and they made no action to even check me until 9am the next morning. I was then told "You're not dying" and accused of faking my symptoms and sent home. 5 hours later I was sent back to the hospital with my symptoms staying consistent and gradually getting worse. My symptoms were worse on my right side and eventually turned into a constant jerking movement. The nurses and doctors kept trying to tell me it was anxiety. I was then left alone for 15 hours in a back room to prevent other patients asking questions, while the same nurse from the day before accused me of faking my symptoms yet again. I was finally checked by a doctor, who then told me that I wasn't dying and she was going to send me home. I requested an EEG scan or an MRI and I was told that neither of those would be happening because and directly quoted "we don't do those here, and why would you want to expose yourself to that radiation and die of cancer". At this point I was getting really upset and frustrated, so they sent in another doctor who suggested it could possibly be a stroke and organised a ct scan. I was given no results from this scan and placed in a room with 6 other paitiens and told to wait. I was there for 8 hours with my symptoms still getting worse and no effort being made to treat me. I was treated badly for the attention my symptoms were getting from the other patients. Over the next 4 days I was placed in a private room and I wouldn't be seen the entire day, and then only told "a doctor will see you soon" and then at 10pm told the doctor went home and they will see me the next day. They made no effort to correctly diagnose or treat me, and then insisted on checking my mental health. I had to prove to a therapist that I was not mentally unstable, and they refused to believe me. On day 5 I discovered on my own that there was a physical issue in my back most likely causing the twitching like seizure, as I realised when I pressed on my back the issues temporarily stopped. The method to stop the twitching caused me the worse pain I've ever felt in my entire life, and when I asked for them to look into this they told me it was nothing. This was ignored by medical staff and they refused to even look at me or find out what was happening to me. They also tried to diagnose me as having an anxiety disorder. I was getting increasingly worried that my symptoms would be permanent, and I was given no answers or reassurance to them finding out anything to help me. I finally had an mri on day 6, and I was shamed by medical staff the entire time. 9 months later I have found out there was a serious issue with the nerves in my back that would have easily been discovered if the hospital had done their jobs correctly. On day 7 the symptoms stopped on their own. I was given no answers for if the symptoms would come back or what caused it. I was also told that if I want any answers I should go to a regular doctor. It's been 9 months and because of their false claims on every document they have made following up with trying to find answers a nightmare. They falsely diagnosed me, they neglected me, and the way they treated me during my stay was disgusting and traumatic. If you have the option of going to a different hospital then please do.

I was and still am traumatised by my experience at the NB Hospital emergency department. I was brought to hospital in an ambulance as I could no longer walk without severe pain. I was in the short stay for days. I was given all sorts of pain medication and was repeatedly told I was okay and would be discharged home. They continued to try to make me walk despite crying and writhing in pain. I asked over and over again to get an MRI which they refused to give me as it wasn't necessary. They sent the physio to see me who checked my feet a couple of times, spoke to the nurse and decided that I was fine to go home. By this stage I was so incapacitated I had to ask for a catheter as getting to the toilet was nearly impossible. I was put in a bed next to a woman who still upsets me to think about to this day. She was consistently bullying me through the curtain dividing us. She was mimicking the sound of me in pain, loudly talking to her partner about how many pain meds I was requesting and asked that I be moved to another part of emergency. I could hear her saying this to the nurse and when I asked the nurse what was going on she denied it. I was moved to the other end of the ward and this woman continually exited her area to stare at me from across the ward and also started to take photos of me. Eventually she was moved to another part of the hospital. I still wish I could give this woman a piece of my mind. I finally got one night nurse who decided to give me a nerve pain medication which was the most relief I'd had in days. When they came to discharge me, I said that's fine, but how do you expect me to leave the hospital or get around my house when I cannot walk? So they finally booked the MRI after multiple days where all they had provided me with was apple juice. I was made to manoeuvre myself onto the MRI bed when I was screaming in pain and when the doctor on duty and nurses reviewed my scans, they all apologised as my disc had completely ruptured and was crushing my spinal nerve completely and I would require immediate transfer for emergency surgery by the neuro team at RNSH (who were amazing FYI). To make the experience even better, when the patient transfer came to get me they refused to take me as I was over 100 kilos. What kind of emergency department outsources their patient transfers to a 3rd party who refuse to move people over 100 kilos!? Most men would weigh this much!! I had to advocate for myself through emotion and extreme pain, it had gotten to the point where I could not even move my legs in the bed, yet they wanted me to stand on the scales to check my weight. The NUM managed to book a patient transfer for me with another company that had regular sized beds and kind staff. I was in RNSH and operated on the very next day. I am still not over this experience at NB hospital and hope that anyone in a situation similar to mine, who knows something is not right, finds the voice to stand up for themselves and get the treatment they deserve.

Was booked in to this hospital for an 11am surgery and was told not to be late. I arrived early, at around 10:15am, as I live 1.5 hours away and needed to be driven so we thought to leave plenty of time in case of traffic, parking etc The first individual that we dealt at the desk downstairs was so unnecessarily rude which wasn't a great start - my partner and I couldn't figure out why they were being so rude, as we were trying to be as nice as possible in case they were having a bad morning. I was then told my partner couldn't wait with me in any of the waiting rooms, but that it was a short surgery anyway, which we weren't that happy about but it is understandable. I then proceeded to be put through multiple waiting rooms without anyone being able to tell me how long I would be waiting or even what was happening in terms of the whole procees, bed situation, queue etc. I remained half-naked and freezing in a gown, in a crowded room on a plastic chair for most my wait, which was made worse as I was seated metres away from where the staff were prepping their lunch, and I have now not eaten or drank anything all day and it was 2pm. I was FINALLY prepped for surgery six and a half hours after arriving at the hospital. My partner driving me also had to wait around alone the whole time, not knowing whether to drive 1.5 hours home, or not, as we were never told when I was going in for surgery. Thank God I wasn’t an older or vulneranle patient, as I wasn't able to eat or even drink water on the day due to the type of surgery I was having. The surgeon and nurses were absolutely lovely though, I actually felt awful that they have to work in such an atrociously organised hospital. every time I’ve had to contact this hospital since, for postop appointments, I’ve been transferred up to five times back and forth between departments in an attempt to book/check an appointment. If I had to guess, every single person I have spoken to was having their first day on the job.

This is my first time ever writing a review on anything. I usually don’t like complaining but tonight pushed all my buttons to the limits. This hospital specially the emergency department does not deserve to have the name of this whole area. They should change the name from northern beaches hospital as it is a disgrace to all the tax payers. It just feels like the money we put in has gone to nothing but in stomach of emotional less “Karens” in the name of nurses. I had to take my dad to the emergency department at 9:30pm with severe pain who couldn’t even sit properly on the chairs for 10 mins. We patiently waited 8 hours but as there were no one seeing us. I asked the nurses on the reception to see if she could tell me an estimated waiting time but for no reason she started showing passive aggression, she started saying “you don’t know how this works, there are more urgent people who needs treatment” I didn’t say anything at the moment since there was a lot of people waiting behind me but this lack of empathy on a person is suppose to be treating us and making us feel comfortable really didn’t help with anything. I understand that there is more serious cases but I also refuse to believe you have to wait 5 hours in an emergency department. Also, since the wending machines were broken my parents needed some water. I asked the reception for some water but she shook hear head as if I am asking her to pay for something and said water is only patients and refused to give water to my mum. Very disappointing and lost trust in our medical Centres. Hope this helps some one and wouldn’t recommend going to the emergency department at northern beaches hospital. If you have to please visit royal north shore hospital or Monavale hospital as from personal experience the staffs are more friendly the service is much quicker and lack of empathy here doesn’t not help with anything but making things worst.

The ER nurses and doctors were nice to me and took care of me very well. But I noticed they didn't with some elderly patients. I think they need more training regarding geriatic understanding. They also forgot to give me lunch so I had to find food in the kitchen myself. The kitchen has an industrial coffee machine and fridge full of sandwiches so I can't complain. The hospital is clean as it is new. I haven't walked around but the other patient said, the coffee shop is amasing. In the ward, nurses were efficient and kind. Again, I was not served dinner. I had to call my friend to bring food to me. The food attendant saw me but just ignored me. In other hospitals, they will ask and inform the nurse to call for an order. I informed the nurse but the food came an hour after. My friend who showered and bought me food came first. The issue is the food delivery to new or transferred patients. It happened to other patients too. Sadly, other patients cant remember if they ate or not so a system needs to be put in placed for this. TV is free here. This morning, the nurse, not her fault, was giving me medication which was prescribed to me at the ER. But upon coming up the ward, I was told by my attending physician not to take the meds anymore. So I asked them to please coordinate with the doctor first as I was told something else. I think better instructions to the nurses should be made especially with regard medication. Overall, it is pleasant. View of some rooms are beautiful. There is a CHAPLAINCY. But sadly the Catholic Priest do not offer sacraments esp anointing of the sick. I requested this on Tuesday morning. I'm already discharged Saturday afternoon. No Catholic Priest came. Only a lay person came to visit. Love that coffee machines are available. Nurses and doctors are awesome. Pathology too. Some views of the rooms are specatacular. Giving feedback to help improve service.

Go to a different hospital if you have this option. I was in hospital for an entire week with seizure/stroke symptoms. It was a constant twitching movement. The nurses accused me of faking it and discharged me. I was sent back to hospital 5 hours later with the symptoms getting gradually worse. I was told that I would be seen soon, and this continued daily with me only getting checked every 12 hours or later. I would be left alone the entire day, with no action being taken to diagnose or treat me. My symptoms became constant twitching movements that I had no control over. They did not test for anything, and gave me no answers over the period of 5 days. They attempted to diagnose it as something completely unrelated to what I was experiencing. My symptoms were gradually getting worse and resembling symptoms similar to a stroke. The symptoms stopped on their own on day 7 and I still had no answers for what I was experiencing or what could have Caused it. I am very disappointed in the way I was treated by staff and the medical professionals there. During the entire time I was given no answers to if my constant seizure like twitching would be permentant, and I was forced to prove I was not mentally unstable to a therapist, while they refused to make any further investigations into what I was suffering with. Upon asking for further testing I was told that I was being dramatic. When i was discharged with no answers yet again, I was treated badly, and recommend to go to a different hospital if I wanted any answers for my symptoms.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I took my 4 month old to emergency on Tuesday after she had not fed for 12 hours - was told it was not an emergency by the triage nurse after I was told by reception to take a red card. The attitude of the triage nurses is disgraceful - the age of my daughter should be a big indication to bring her in. I was then told she is not sick due to the fact she smiled… long and behold Friday (yesterday) we both tested positive for Covid and was advised to bring her in by 13HEALTH so we headed into Northern Beaches Emergency Department. My daughter was not taking any feeds and no wet nappies and we were placed in PEADIATRIC emergency. The amount of time it took to get any medical assistance in the ward was ridiculous. I buzzed numerous times to get my daughter some Panadol and it never came - I asked if I could see a doctor as I am also very unwell and was pretty much told no so I’m meant to care for my sick baby whilst also being incredibly sick. We were discharged (felt like we were pretty much being kicked out) after she had 70mls of formula (almost 24 hours). To top it off I wasn’t able to take in my partner who lives with us due to my sickness I needed support yet mostly no one were wearing masks within the department.. makes no sense when we are locked in an isolation room. I am disgusted in this hospital and safe to say we will only be taking our baby to the children’s hospital where they clearly care for children more than Northern Beaches.

Minus 5 stars! Arrived at 830pm with my 14 year old son with a deep cut on the palm of his hand. Watched patients come and go. They would wait for an hour or two and speak to reception staff who didn’t appreciate being interrupted with their chitchat. To be told we have no idea how long. Then encouraged to leave to come back next day to the medical centre attached to the hospital. More than half the people who were triaged left. Doctors come out and call the names of people who have left to not return again for another hour or more. So if the patient they called from ER Waiting Room has left why aren’t they back within minutes calling the next patient. An extremely rude nurse finally did some sort of head count at 1:30am. After 5 hours of waiting I explained that my son had school the following day and I had work and asked if she had any idea how much longer we would be waiting. She rudely said that she was not forcing us to stay. We could leave. We could go medical centre tomorrow. Came back again to encourage me to leave again and was annoyed that I was frustrated. Told me that waiting 16 hours to see a doctor was not unusual! Maybe at NB Hospital but never at RNSH. I should known better to drive straight past and go to RNSH but the temptation that this hospital is 10 minutes from home overcame my better judgment. Never again

I’ve had 3 experiences at the hospital and every time the staff were amazing. I sliced my finger a few years back and needed surgery, I know I would have to wait a bit in A&E as it wasn’t a priority but that’s ok. The staff were very professional and I was scheduled for surgery the following day. I gave birth in the maternity ward last year publicly and the midwives and doctors were outstanding. I always felt I was in great hands. I stayed in two nights with my little girl in shared room, it was very clean and tidy. The midwives showed me how to breastfeed properly and even had a room to teach us how to bath and swaddle our newborn. Yesterday I went to A&E with heavy bleeding from a miscarriage and all the staff were exceptional. I got seen to quickly. Yes there is a bit of waiting in the bays in A&E and noise as others said but you’re not the only one in the department, other lives are happening all around and I personally don’t mind if the nurses and doctors laugh or chat, it’s shows good moral within the team, they were still constantly professional. Some of the reviews are very harsh, I don’t think people understand how great the Australian healthcare system is compared to other countries, they should be very proud of Medicare and the systems in place.

I gave birth to my first child as a public patient at Northern Beaches Hospital a week ago, the midwives and doctors were amazing. Specifically a MASSIVE thank you from the bottom of my heart to my midwives Emma and Mathilde and to Dr Candice and Dr Ruff. Everyone was so supportive and professional and worked tirelessly towards a healthy outcome for my baby. I really did feel like I was in good hands and that gave my partner and I the peace of mind we needed on our very special day. I was lucky enough to get a private room for my two night stay which was extremely clean and comfortable. In my two night stay the midwives on shift politely and patiently helped me learn how to properly breastfeed, swaddle and bath my baby. They offered pain relief each visit and made sure myself and my partner knew where the help yourself kitchen was which had food and drinks and the freezer was always stocked with ice packs for pain relief. Once out of the hospital my at home visits from the midwives were great, I once again felt comfortable and they patiently listened to and assisted me with any concerns. I highly recommend this hospital, it has been such a positive experience!

I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this might help someone else. I waited over 4 hours to see a doctor in emergency. After an hour of waiting a couple can through & was sent to a doctor immediately after coming in. I understand that some cases are more urgent than others but with over 4 hours of waiting in excruciating pain I feel that I could’ve been more taken care of. I was given several doses of medication but nothing could ease the pain. My partner then spoke to the nurse to ask for an estimated wait time as I was laying on the chairs in pain. She proceeded to tell him that it was between 1-6 hours & “ i made this clear to your partner in the beginning”. I was never given an expected wait time I was only told to take a seat until my name was called by a doctor. The nurse then started making passive aggressive comments to other patients coming in that “ other patients have complained because there was enough presence in the waiting room” I wouldn’t usually complain because I know the climate of hospitals at this present moment but I felt extremely uncomfortable in the waiting room after being victimised in front of other patients.

I had the worst experience here today. As my mother had a stroke at age 28, if I get any symptoms (as a 24 year old) I need to go to hospital immediately just in case. I experienced left side facial numbness and left hand tingling. I initially went to the GP who wrote a referral and went straight to the hospital after that. By the time I got to the hospital, it would have been within an hour of my symptoms occurring. I was then left in the waiting room for 3.5 hours without seeing a doctor as they said it was just too busy - regardless of my stroke like symptoms. When I went in to see the doctor, he was told by the nurse that I had a “mild headache”. I was appalled and shocked by the treatment. After an additional 1 hour of waiting after my 10 minute chat with the doctor, I was sent home without any tests done and was told to just take a Panadol next time. I did have tests completed for a similar event over a year ago at a different hospital which was their rational for not doing anything, but I do feel that their approach to treating a possible stroke negligible. I will never come back to this hospital.

NBH is well run, modern, clean hospital employing amazing staff!! Every single staff member that I have met - porters, cleaners, catering staff, admin staff, radiologists, physiotherapists, phlebotomists, nurses and doctors to name a few - are all dedicated and I feel have always gone above and beyond to help me on my road to recovery during several recent admissions, some for serious medical conditions, including stay in ICU and on other wards. I always feel listened to and I know that the care I get is exceptional. Compared to other health systems around the world (from my experience I’m thinking about the UKs NHS) - we are very lucky to live in a country where public and private health works seamlessly to help people from all backgrounds get the medical care they need. Lots of negative reviews are around waiting times in Emergency, however, that is because the triage team is constantly having to assess who is a priority from a medical point of view. I would personally recommend the NBH to friends and family without hesitation. Thank you to all staff that have made my experiences positive!!

Emergency departments a joke I had to wait 5 hours to get through to speak about my brother who had a seizure they did not give him a CT scan yet gave him a medical or clear this is ridiculous.. NUM no good. Three months later he was admitted to ED he had a stroke after I demanded yet another CT. Pitty that CT scan wasn't done previously. Could have been prevented if lack of "duty of care" Terrible hospital . Psychiatric doctor also terrible putting him on medication that previously he got acute dystonic reactions from. This lady psychiatrist has no idea did not read discharge referral note on the 18th of March. This hospital needs to be shut down The lady psychiatrist needs a job review big time. She even triggered me and I have no mental illness. No one reads notes from EMR'S !!!! About previous admissions and discharges. If they did then I do believe that there would not be so many errors. Update: 25th April my brother ended up having a stroke

I’ve only had to visit a few times, and for vastly different concerns. Every administrator, nurse, radiographer, and Doctor were not only friendly, welcoming and proficient, but they clearly explained processes and were as gentle as possible with me when it was necessary to make physical contact with painful areas. All of the above ultimately made me feel supported during times when I felt particularly anxious about the state of my health. The young doctors I’ve dealt with here were far more capable than some I’ve met in medical practices with decades of experience. And while there are long wait times, it’s clear just by observing the staff that they really try to hustle and make it a seamless and stress free experience for patients, without compromising the level of care. I’ve even seen nurses bringing cups of water and tea to help with hunger pangs in elderly patients that weren’t able to eat anything. Exceptional service all around.

There is no support and humanity left by this hospital. My mun got into accident and was taken to hospital by ambulance. There was no emergency service provided. She had to sit on chair straight from 6pm till 6am of next day.nurses just kept serving her neurophene to control the pain, but didn’t checked the actual cause. They didn’t checked her properly, and after 1 week when she checked with normal gp. Her rib bone was fractured, but because of hospital neglegency her situation has gotten worse now. She can’t attend work. She is on visa and paying so much for health insurance, also paid emergency fee to hospital straight when she entered. Still didn’t got the service. She is suffering from financial loss now, and mental stress because she was not taken care of straight away. Is it just because she don't have medicare card? Is medicare more important than someone’s health these days. Very surprised and hurtful

Went here with my whole body covered in hives, extreme stomach pain, vomiting. Since I exclusively breast feed my baby I had to take her with me. Wish I had pumped but I wasn’t ready with pumped milk so had to take her too. I couldn’t keep my head up and waiting room was full of people. I was worried cuz of all the viruses and when triage took me in my husband asked are you sending us back out there? Can we please have somewhere away from these people just cuz of the baby? The nurse who was listening was so unnecessarily rude telling my hubby off passive aggressively welcome to take her home if you want. Husband said yea I would if she wasn’t breast fed. Anyway waiting more longer and finally my bloods were tested and urine. Doc(he was kind) said there is a virus but can’t tell what. No mention of the urine. Sent me home after hours of waiting for me to get more and more sick that night. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE

My first time in Northern Beaches Hospital, I was not impressed of the attitude/behaviour of mostly staff members from the admission staff member to the staff at the counter in level 1 to some of the nurses. One example is the staff member at the admission who chastised me for not wearing a mask but little does she know that I was adjusting the string so that it would fit snugly on my face. How about greeting the patient or your customer in a friendly way, that starts with good morning. I'm sure that will not hurt. The attitude was less to be desired. From there to the person at the counter at level 1 to some of the nurses who are abrupt and who does not smile. These staff members are pulling the nice and friendly staff members down. Lastly, I am very impressed with the professionalism and friendly attitude of the theater staff, from the doctor to the anesthetist to the nurses who assisted.

My local hospital is the Royal North Shore. I have been treated there many times and I am fully conversant with the proficient level of service that hospital provided to me. I was helping a close friend that checked himself into the Emergency Department of the Northern Beaches Hospital. To my dismay, the nurses that attended to him from the evening to overnight to the next morning were sub-standard and what worse was they had little to zero care for a patient. The overnight nurses (literally with non-stop eyes rolling and noses up) were the worst and it really felt like they were doing you a huge favour instead of their job. My friend that was in constant pain wasn't even demanding. All this time, there was so much chit-chat (and laughing) at the nurses and doctors' desk area. The Doctors that attended to my friend were much more professional but the nurses were a real let down.

Worst hospital I have ever been to. Was taken by ambulance to emergency for extreme chest pain, they ran an ECG and refused bloods to be tested. They left me waiting in the room for 3.5 hours with no testing done. The nurse was yelling at me saying you are 24 you will not die tonight. They refused to find out what was wrong with me so I left. After trying to leave they completely flipped and explained I was rushed in as a high category and needed to stay, however, had no urgency to treat me as I was waiting for 4 hours for nothing but a doctor to tell me I didn’t need bloods taken and to go home simply because my heartbeat looked “ok” They tried to force me to sign a waiver to leave that I was rejecting medical advice, I said no and walked out. (Do not sign this garbage) I will never be returning to this psychotic hospital.

Horrible experience ever! I was bleeding last night with so much pain in my stomach plus nausea. First at all the person in the ambulance asked why do they have to take to the hospital… once there they asked me to move to a waiting room with around 20 people there. Later the lady at the reception asked me to pay 417 saying that I did not pay this bill, ( Im full covered by my health insurance), she said that I have to pay this at the front before seeing a doctor. She was yelling at me with all these people waiting. I spoke with another lady I think she was the nurse she said that unfortunately it was out of her hands. I had to leave the hospital, without the possibility to see a doctor it was around midnight me by myself. Still in pain, thinking about how bad people can be and work!

I gave birth to my son as a public patient at Northern Beaches Hospital in Feb, 2023. The midwives and doctors were all very nice, kind amazing. Specifically a MASSIVE thank you. Everyone was so supportive and professional and worked tirelessly towards a healthy outcome for my baby and myself. I really did feel like my family was well looked after on our very special day, even though we are not English native speakers. Especially out of the hospital home visits from the midwife. That was really super helpful, and the process was great, which saved my son actually. Then when my son was 2 months old, we got covid, and we were well looked after again at this hospital. We got a private room! I highly recommend this hospital, it has been such a positive experience!

This place absolutely sucks. I went here on Thursday October 26th 2023 at around 4pm for having a knife in school and when I came out it was 8pm. most of the time I was just waiting for the doctor (jackie) to come to do a check on me before I go and they also said that it was gonna take half an hour which was absolutely wrong. most of the time I was on a uncomfortable bed with no phone or computer because the idiots called police, doctors and the security were blocking me from getting my phone to entertain also the room I was in had no windows no TV and no table it was just 3 walls a entry way and a bed and one chair I am definitely not going here until this place changes for the better and any other hospital like royal north shore is better than this prison.

  • Veronique De Lima Hendricksone

was so rude, impatient, unprofessional, telling me to go and see my GP rather than coming to the medical center for my pain on the right side, because he said that they are under staffed. Not my problem dear bad doctor! My GP is not available for weeks and I didn’t want to go to the emergency. This Doctor has definitely forgotten the purpose of his profession: give care to his patients. Next time, I’ll go to the emergency rather than coming out in tears from this old, rude, unprofessional and pathetic so called doctor. By the way, if my pain gets worst today and leads me into medical complication, you will be responsible for not providing me adequate care and referral to be checked. Please, retire and let good doctors do their job.

That's the biggest joke, in 2023, emergency department ? . Brand new hospital 8 doctors 15 people in the que 3h here and I'm still waiting. Guy is waiting with me with his broken finger 4,5h. The only treatment they have got is a pill of panadol. Old lady behind me felt down - she asked for a help. Nurse is an absolute snail, like rest of the doctors, obviously they didnt took her to a doctor, guesswhat ? They gave her panadol. I've seen one of the doctors not nurses, just once since I'm sitting here, 3h guys, 3h.... I don't know what they doing in those rooms, but how we can control them? Real Australian way of life - no worries. That's an absolute joke guys. I will never come here again - better stay at home or go private.

A Disgrace. It is a privately run hospital with a public emergency room. Last time I was there. 1) Chairs in waiting room were broken 2) Dosed up on Morphine twice before I was seen. 3) Despite being high as a kite, was asked to sign a disclaimer that certain risks had been explained to me (they weren't) 4) I ended up leaving after a 8 hour wait as when I asked for an escalation point as I was unhappy with my care the response of the Doctor was "there is noone to talk to". 5) I left and went to RNSH. 6) It became obvious that they had run unnecessary tests to generate more $$$$, as RNSH did not complete said tests and diagnosed fine. I would not go here for anything other than basic stitches. Terrible, money driven.

  • Armaveni Atesh

Absolutely shockingly bad emergency system, no order whatsoever no updates no nothing, people being attended to effective immediately after being in emergency for less than 10 minutes clearly with no dire need of emergency attention where as myself , considering the state of my condition, I waited for 3 hours and no bother from anymore, duty of care was non existent. Careless, rude staff. Nurse was rude too she said there wasn’t enough seats for someone to accompany me but there were plenty of seats Don’t waste your time go elsewhere. Cafe staff are rude too. Terrible hospital, won’t come back, what a disaster. Fix your system your countless negative reviews should ring some alarm bells. Northern beaches disaster

  • Lillian Hassett

Had a day surgery and was looked after from the moment I walked in. The facilities are new and everything is private so you have your own room prior to entering theatre which gives you space to mentally prepare for your surgery without other people around. Staff were so friendly and so accomodating, down to getting me hot blankets when I looked a little cold. When I returned from surgery I was brought a steaming hot latte which was delicious, way more than I was expecting from a coffee in hospital. My surgeons also made the experience significantly better than previous surgeries by being really friendly and thorough. Never thought I’d do a 5/5 google review after having surgery but I was very impressed.

Hi i want to share the worst experience about an emergency department!! First of fall I don’t think so they need to say this section is an Emergency Department. For my knowledge an Emergency department should be more convenient and quick then normal services!! My wife she is pregnant and not feeling well. She got some pain in her abdomen. But we been told just wait outside doctor will come and see her. But it’s already been more than 3 hour!! No one came, I can’t believe it its in Emergency department. Please if you want to make sure you have at least 7-8 hour of your time then later on what you will hear from doctor everything ok just take painkillers. I mean seriously.

  • Craig Astrom

1st review Don’t let this hospital try and give you jabs or anti virals etc for Covid . I was in a ward returned a positive and was literally dumped out the door without a temperature check and my discharge paper says physically no acute conditions. Made for an uncomfortable hour drive home . 2nd review - I injured myself in their hospital and they’re chasing me for $$ the mri to find out how bad I’d been hurt . They sent a reply noting paperwork that didn’t have my signature and was at odds with the paperwork with my signature that I took photos of . They actually changed medical records to avoid them being responsible .

Scam "public" Northern Beaches Hospital. The "public" part of this being a public/private hospital barely exists and obviously administrators and medical staff have been instructed to treat public patients accordingly in the hope they'll go away or go to the North Shore Hospital - at least at RNS Hospital the nurses and drs know what they're doing. No privacy either - the whole NBH emergency dept set up is worse than a 3rd world hospital, and the staff must have obtained their qualifications from a Corn Flakes packet. What a scam this hospital set up is. Northern Beaches residents have been diddled.

  • Shabina Kamal

About a month ago I rushed into emergency at Northern Beaches Hospital with severe urinary retention pain. The staff admitted me straight away (thank you to the kind angel who gave me her number to go in front of her). From the moment I was there, all the doctors and nurses were just incredible. They were caring, thorough and empathetic with me having to be away from my baby for the first time. A special thank you to Dr Evie, Nurses Isaac and Alice in the short stay ward and the Obs & Gynae team who all went above and beyond. We are so lucky to have such wonderful humans caring for our community.

  • Meilin S

Go to royal north shore hospital the doctors and staff are more experienced the staff didn’t think it was concerning that I was dropping weight so fast I had an horrible experience here I will never come to northern beaches hospital again at the emergency department the female Indian doctor said my mental health and anxiety was the reason I was feeling so unwell and discussed my personal details in front of everyone in the waiting room what happened to patient confidentiality? I ended up losing 15kilos in a month for the doctors to take my stomach gastritis and being unable to swallow seriously

  • Nilly Silver

Terrible!!! Not even 1 star this hospital deserves. My in law had a bad fall and broken 3 spots in her arm. They said she has to have a surgery otherwise she won’t be able to use her arm. It’s been 2 weeks since she has fallen, the surgery still hasn’t done. They left her in pain for weeks. She checked in the hospital this morning for a 6am scheduled surgery, it’s 3pm now and still waiting to be operated hungry allllll day!!! Is this how you care for your patients? This is terrible that what you can do to your patients. Don’t just apologise, take some real actions!!!

  • Lisa Jane

I am ever so grateful for the care I was given during my time there at Northern Beaches hospital. A massive thank you to the Doctors , nursing staff and the anaesthetist who prepared me for surgery on the day. I felt very comfortable and safe every step of the way. The rooms are hygienic and the meals were also really nice. I feel as though my body's recovery and my mindset has been all positive due to the care given throughout this time. This is the second good experience I have encountered with this hospital in 2020. Blessings to all involved!

  • --

My 88yo mum was admitted for 1 week. What an amazing experience. Nurses were 5 Star. Always did what they said they would do (unlike every other hospital I've ever experienced). Management and Information practices - could not find any fault. THANK YOU! Several Years later: I have just had a total hip replacement at Northern Beaches Hospital. Still a 5 Star experience for me: Nurses - 5 of the 6 nurses looking after me were first class. Meals - really really good. Nursing and Imaging practices consistently 5 Star. Again, THANK YOU to all.

  • Rob Harper

I don't usually leave reviews, good or bad but I'm frustrated about this. I just rung NB hospital to inquire about a day surgery cost. Spoke to a tired older sounding woman who gave me no time of day and basically hung up on me after giving me an email address to send my inquiry to. Sorry guys but someone who's going for surgery and spends little to no time in hospitals wouldn't mind a little guidance. As I was still half way through a further question, I was hung up on! Not good enough! Raise the bar for others in the future please.

  • Jane Mongkonsilp

Recommended, and Big Thank you to northern beach hospital Team !!! I had same day surgery here started from 6 am and discharged at 12 pm. I just want to say I am so grateful and so impressed for all the service by doctors and nurses here. No word to describes that they are so nice and professional!!! And always making sure that i am ok and constant checking before i discharged from hospital. All facets are brand new and clean and high technology and the area abd size of the room is huge , very comfortable. definitely recommend!!!

Don’t bother going to the emergency if you need to be seen in under 3 hours. Family member having trouble breathing got sat for over 3 hours and when we complained to the staff about the wait we were escorted out by security for “causing a scene”… precious. Everyone who was waiting when we got there was still sat waiting when we left. Sick elderly, broken bones, people passed out on the waiting room chairs. Not sure if they’re severely understaffed or they’re just happy to let people suffer. Regardless, It’s a mess.

  • Ian Smith

My wife has been a patient at Northern Beaches Hospital twice in April 2022, first for day surgery and then to the Emergency Department. The treatment she received on both occasions was exemplary: professional, caring and thorough. I cannot speak too highly of the Hospital's staff, from the admissions staff who accompanied her to the day surgery unit, to the nurses who cared for her on both occasions and the medical staff who looked after her and reduced her anxiety over what was happening. Thank you all so much!

  • marco legnani

Emergency room is shocking. Do not go there. Got there a 2am with a corneal abrasion and had to wait until 8am. Clearly had to wait the morning doctor to start the shift. At 5 am I asked how many people in front of me and how long was the wait. The nurse told me that if I don't want to wait I can go home and come back in the morning, wow! All I needed was antibiotic eyedrops and a cream, a nurse should be able to help with just that! Unorganised and rude. Never again

  • Carly Burgess

Nurses on ward 5a utterly amazing. After 48hrs of doctors not charting my regular medications (diabetic and heart issues) nurses had to call an emergency to just get docs to chart. Even then they got it so wrong. 3 days without diabetes meds, not good. Jefelin, ward manager is utterly amazing. All nurse on ward 5a don't get the credit they deserve. Kate and Paige were also amazing. It would of been a 5 star review if the doctors were as good as the nurses.

  • Steve Iuliano

My son had a bad fall and we rushed him to NBH. Staff saw to him almost immediately and kept us there for 4 hours for observations. They were extraordinarily professional, and were careful to respect my son while he was sleeping when doing checks. We were originally in emergency, and then transferred to paediatrics where staff were equally professional. Thank you SO much to the team at NBH, you are legends in our eyes and our son is doing much better!

  • Malith Shri (Maliya)

One of the best hospitals in Sydney with good nursing staff. From foyer it is well guided using large notice boards. Clean area with good security . All nursing staff are very friendly. Actually it is help for the patient not from physical but from mentally. This hospital has a good reputation and with best consultants in NSW. This Hospital has a large carpark and no hesitation to park your car in the road side. Overall good hospital best of best

  • Colin D

Unfortunately I've had to spend quite a few times in hospital this year. But what can I say about the staff. The Doctors, The Nurses, The Receptionists, The Wardens, The Surgeons, The Volunteers, etc. ( And all the others, Sorry I know there are many others! ) Have been the most Professional, Hard working, Caring staff I have ever found. A Credit to your selves and to the hospital. Just want to say a massive Thankyou. Colin x

  • Neil Berry

I have been coming here for treatment for 5 months and everyone I have had the pleasure of dealing with and treated by has been caring, professional and attentive. I couldn’t ask for better. We should be supporting and lifting up our local healthcare workers for the selfless career they have chosen and the work they do for us.. this can only lead to even better outcomes for all. Thanks to everyone at NBH, you are appreciated.

  • Oliver Baumann

After triage in Emergency it went down hill. Doctor didn't aks why we are there. After one hour waiting I asked to be seen, but writing a report seemed more important. No communication, no update, nothing. Left in the morning without seeing the Doc and went to my GP. Next time I'll drive to RNSH. Train your staff to at least talk to your patients. 27/9/ Dear Hospital team, happy to share, but your email does not work. Thx

  • Matiese Heather

waited 9 hours to see a doctor after i had explained severe pains to them. left after the 9 hours to a rude staff telling me i was breaching all medical advice if i leave (i hadn’t had any medical advice in almost 10 hours) - Absolutely horrible experience and place and will never go back even if i was in a horrendous state and urgently needed help, i could probably treat myself quicker than getting a hello.

  • W R D

Prepare for long wait in ER (arrived by ambulance late on a Saturday afternoon, xray was done immediately, but then 5+ hours to see the first doctor about the badly broken foot/ankle). But always staff were professional and facilities are in good shape. Maybe I will take my chances at RNS next time. My advice is don't have an accident on weekends, and bring your phone charger with you to the ER.

  • Sam Russell

I've had to go to hospital several times as of late. I find this hospital to be excellent . Great service, fantastic doctors and nurses. When I went to the hospital yesterday, I had an MRI and blood taking. Both procedures took a total of 20 minutes. This is almost unheard of.Staff are friendly as well as being very professional. Very pleased with my new hospital.

  • maria Diaz

I got admitted on a private maternity ward but doesnt like I was treated well. I waited for 8hours in ED until I got transferred to the ward. No one even bother to offer me food in ED. I didnt had any dinner ordered on arrival to ward. The Doctor named Jessica Brown was not even emphathetic on answering my questions or explaining things to me. Just so upset.

  • KJA

Presented myself to emergency with a broken arm as a first timer to any hospital. Within approximately 20 minutes I had an X-ray and was being admitted for emergency operation for some additional hardware. Ended up staying two nights in private as it was late when I got there. Very efficient. However a lot of the nurses were from an agency. Food was great !

  • Emily Brown

Spent three hours at the hospital, after having a panic attack in triage (after two others that morning) nurse told me to wait in the waiting room and control my emotions, given Valium. Spoke to another nurse who explained my stressors were simply a part of life that I should learn to manage better. Checked for suicidal ideation and discharged.

  • Simon Harrison

I was a patient Dec 2023 as I recovered from a TURP operation. All of the staff there were kind and friendly. Also, I love the way the nurses were able to advise me about my recovery, explain to me what was happening, how to recover best and what to expect next. A very good experience all round. Good facilities, great staff.

  • Filipe Masiero

If you are a patient person you are in the right place. I have had to use the hospital approximately three times in the last few years and it is always been an endless wait to be seen. It is inadmissible for a first world hospital to be so slow in providing care. Hope you do not need to use this place's emergency. Good luck!

  • Carlina Monti

While visiting my family in Australia over the month of October 2023. I experienced strong chest pains and went into emergency. The doctors and staff were great! I was treated the right way and checked thoroughly. I felt at ease with my diagnosis. Thank you. Australia has the best healthcare system. We are so lucky.

  • Joshua Jones

I went to the er with very bad pain in my hip. After waiting 2–3 hours I eventually saw the doctor, and he was absolutely amazing. His examination was professional, he explained what he thought the injury was clearly, and overall had a very comfortable demeanour. A massive thank-you to Dr Edwin Evelyn-Rahr.

  • Tayla Slattery

Had a recent surgery at Northern beaches private. Excellent staff. Very on top of everything and caring. I stayed 3 nights I think on 5A (i was very out of it) I felt like I was in good hands. Only downside is the walls are so thin you can hear people talk constantly. Lucky I bought my ear plugs …

  • Sarah R

Amazing staff and hospital. Every nurse and doctor I’ve seen have been so lovely and accommodating especially in paediatrics, special care nursery and the birthing ward. Both public and private rooms are clean, spacious and nice. With the shortage of staff, they are doing a fantastic job. So grateful.

  • Kate Koo

Paediatrics wards are spacious and have natural lights from windows. My son said the food provided was very nice and also felt comfortable because of the nurse's kind care. He discharged on Christmas eve and received Christmas gift from them. Thank you Northern Beaches Hospital paediatrics team.

  • Jo Ewing

I can't thank the staff enough for what they did for mum. It was a difficult time for our family. Knowing that mum was looked after in such a caring and thoughtful way was a great comfort. The doctors, physio's and nursing staff need a huge pat on the back. 5A room 13. Thank you so very much.

  • Adrian Villella

I can't thank the staff enough for saving my life. Heartattack, 4 stents and 5 days later. I'm sitting here with my family so thankfull to be alive. Surgeons, cardiologists, paramedics, nurses, wardsmen and even security. Made me feel so safe the entire time. Angels all of you. Xx

  • Joanne McGrath

My mother has been a patient of this hospital a few times. I cannot fault the care of the Drs & Nurses. They're all exceptional. One less star due to the waiting time for the patient transport vehicle. Bring back the extra vehicle please. 3.5 hrs waiting time is not acceptable.

  • Stefany Florencio da Silva

Everyone was very attentive, quick, professional, friendly. This was my first visit to the NB hospital, and even I was in a lot of pain, the experience was positive. I felt really looked after, and had everything I needed to go home feeling a bit better. Thank you all!

  • Jonty Hayton

Last Friday I had 13 screws in my foot and needed to stay 3 nights at Northern Beaches. The service and kindness I received from the Nurses and Doctors was phenomenal considering the pressure they are under, and I cannot fault anything about the staff. Keep it up!

  • Kate Allan-Georgas

Professionals! such exhausting and tricky work done with a really genuine smile: thank you for the role you all play in making this facility - an absolute benchmark for patients requiring mental health compassion, expertise and support. I’m very grateful …

  • Elijah Stars

Rudest staff ever. No human decency, racist, just embarrassing that they are representing the Northern Beaches community. Not to mention they straight said they felt bad for someone's child due to mental frustration. Disgusting. Would not ever go here again.

  • Me

I arrived at 3am at the emergency and saw a doctor after 7 hours. Went through simple blood test and ecg only. couldn’t get a single cup to drink water or a single pill to manage my symptoms. Looks like if you are in the medicare only you are left behind…

  • James Dethridge

Nurse gives a regular bread sandwich to a caeliac patient when clearly says gluten free/ caeliac on their sheet. The nurse laughed and asked what gluten free meant after watching the patient that had just woken up from surgery eat half the sandwich

  • Lisa Wolfgramm

Thankyou so much for an amazing job taking care of me. The doctors who performed my surgery physio lady who helped me get my strength to start walking. Of course the nurses on 5 D and 5 C I will never forget you all thankyou so much from my family

  • Terri Guan

I took my son to emergency dept midnight because he had severe abnormal pain and been vomiting. We had to wait for 5 hours until around 4am next day morning and finally we saw the the doctor, and we were told he might have appendicitis but

  • Teresa Mitchell-Paterson

If loving day surgery is possible, the staff at this hospital make it so. It's scary having surgery but the kindness and support of the fabulous nurses, volunteers and doctors was outstanding for a public hospital. Thank you for everything.

  • lis millar

I arrived at midnight with serious pains in my abdomen, suspected appendicitis. When I arrived I waited around 10 minutes to be triaged, which did not seem too bad. However, I ended up waiting over 5 and a half hours for a doctor, and then

Almost every experience my family and I have had at this hospital has been very poor. Having been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at a rather young age I have spent a lot of time around hospitals. We have never had an emergency that hasn’t

  • Shantelle Ekermans

The emergency department is the worst! Avoid if you can. Sat for over 5 hours to get a couple of stitches & when we said how long we had been there they said you’re lucky most people wait for 12 hours! Very rude & no empathy what so ever.

  • JUAN JOSE ZIENIEWICZ

I was in the ER at 2pm for a chainsaw cut to my face. They treated me after 2 hours just to stop the bleeding. I then waited until 00:00am for the operation without drinking water or eating anything. They sent me home to return at 7:00am

  • Paul Shearer

The walls in this hospital are so thin that it is difficult to get any rest because of the noise. So make sure you take some ear plugs. Apart from breakfast the food is absolutely disgusting so make sure you have someone bring you lunch

  • Sean Mackenzie

I never complain, and I mean NEVER. This was the Worst hospital experience I’ve had. Sad to see this is a PRIVATELY OWNED hospital that has replaced the one in manly. It wouldn’t be that bad if it was a good hospital but this place is

  • Rita Armstrong

Absolute love and respect for the nurses who cared for me with their love and passion for healing the unwell, the elderly, those in desperate need. Clean facility, clean and fresh food that's tasty. All makes for a healthy recovery.

  • Igor Reis

Terrible place , waiting , waiting and waiting!!! I would love to see the whole population of NB to stop to come here until they close the doors, because any hospital or medical center can do better than NBH!! Shame, shame, shame!!!

  • Martin Pall

My sincere thanks and congratulations to the ED team Sat 21 - Tue 24 Oct for caring for me during my stay following a fall and head knock at home. I could not have asked for better treatment from specialists down to meal service.

  • Christopher

NBH staff from admissions to wardspeople, nurses and doctors are exceptional. The communication between each other is accurate and timely enhancing their professionalism and caring, such wonderful people in Ward 4 and ICU

  • M.

If you are really in an emergency situation I would not recommend this hospital. We waited 6 hours to be seen and was told there was only 1 doctor in paediatric care. I never experienced this in RNS or Sydney Children.

  • Sarah Hylton

Had surgery and was really really impressed with the recovery nurses and staff on ward 5A. All were very attentive and professional in approach. The pharmacist was also lovely listening to my needs. Thankyou.

  • Joe Murnaghan

Went in with heart and chest pains. Waited 4.5hrs to be told it was reflux. Went to North Shore and got the correct diagnosis. $600 million and only one doctor in emergency Not the first time either

  • Mel P

The emergency wait is ridiculous! I went in at 4am, I was the only person there. I saw triage but the wait to see the doctor took 4 hrs. Obviously the shift change for doctors is 8am. By 8am the

Twice in a year I have been up to you for planned surgery and it’s amazing, we are lucky here in Australia, makes me not complain about taxes as the people that work there are special …

  • Kiara Flynn

My 4 year old son just had surgery and we stayed overnight. I couldn’t not fault anyone. From the nurses on the ward to the surgical staff, the kitchen and even the admissions team were 10/10!

  • Jenny Nolan

I am currently at the emergency department and the staff from the beginning to now waiting for scan have been so kind caring and very efficient . Thank you Northern Beaches Hospital.

  • Damian Asprey

My 90 year old mother spent three days here. We found it a very positive place. All staff we met were competent and cheerful. It is a clean, spacious well-equipped hospital.

  • Beatrice Kocinski

I can't fault in any way the amazing care I was given by Lauren Pogorelsky (nurse) I have been treated as though I was the only patient in this hospital.

  • Mona Heukeshoven

Very long wait but expected during the public holidays. Very impressed with the friendly, professionelle caring staff. 5 stars to the emergency team :)

  • Swim

Came here to have a surgery on my nose. Staff was super nice. Talkative, and kind. The rooms were super nice and just an amazing hospital in general.

  • Susan Marsh
