This is a national stadium built during the 24 years of reign of Kenya's second President Daniel Toroitch Arap Moi. Inside the compound, there is a huge water tank, built in a symbolic shape like the ward the former president carried throughout his reign. It was called "Fimbo ya Nyayo" and even had a national song sang in its praise and honour. It is located in Nairobi city, which is the capital city of Kenya. It is huge and thus able to accommodate national celebrations and rallies comfortably. Football matches are also held here; both local and international. In addition, long distance races and short are also held here. Next to the stadium, inside the same compound is a huge swimming pool where competition swimming races are held; both local and international.

The stadium has remained closed for almost a year due to renovations. Its location is ideal as transport is easily available from city centre. The stadium has a sitting capacity of 35000 and has hosted many international and local matches and is usually above capacity when local rivals AFC Leopard and GOR Mahia meet in a game dubbed as mashemeji derby. The stadium is also a favourite for many national events like madaraka day, mashujaa and Jamhuri day celebrations are held here which attracts a large audience. The basketball arena, volleyball, handball and swimming arenas are open to the public. There is a police post, post office and restaurants which located within the complex.

This place is equipped with a large football arena currently under renovation, an Olympic size pool, a fitness gym, a handball/volleyball court and an indoor basketball gymnasium. The facilities are well maintained although the basketball court could use a revamp. The roof is a little leaky during heavy rains thus unsuitable for matches at such times. There's ample parking beside the football arena.

Accessible sport centre. Has a huge public pool that is fairly well maintained. Ample parking space, a police station and a popular gym (T-KO). Walking distance from Nairobi CBD and residential areas nearby such as Madaraka and Nairobi West. Has the famed kuche kuche restaurant among the local. Hosts a variety of sporting events particularly football matches.

Big complex. Many facilities inside including a world size Olympic swimming pool. Proximity to the Nairobi CBD. Currently the place is under renovations as they are upgrading the stadium. This is also home to the marabou stoke, a kind of bird that scavenge. Can easily be spotted on trees inside the stadium as you drive along Mombasa road.

Sports ground at the junction of labgata-uhuru highway. Also used during various Kenyan functions and recognised National days. Within the vicinity we have national post office, kenya police post. Also available are other business entities offices and national government offices.

The swimming pool is Olympic and definitely worth your time. Plus it only costs 100 shillings. For all you health enthusiasts out there give this place a go. There's a gym, a running track and a pool. It's as self contained as it gets. Transport here is quite manageable too.

  • Kennedy Kasio ‘Kenz’

This being one of the few state of the art sports complexes in Kenya it sits just about a kilometer from the cbd. It has an Olympic size swimming pool, a basketball pitch a football field and so many other sports facilities. Their swimming pool charges are affordable

  • Captain Nderitu

The Olympic size swimming pool is well maintained. I don’t like the lifeguards though. If you didn’t pay to get trained here, you will have a lot of trouble getting to the deep end. The major stadium is under renovation. Maybe I’ll give them a five when that’s done.

  • Dokta Zozo

Excellent place to watch local games as well as practices. The post inside the complex assures a secure zone and the bus stage provides easy access to and from CBD or wherever. The swimming pool needs work and improvements for a place of its reputation.

  • Jackson Macharia

This is one of the oldest and most popular sporting stadiums in Kenya. It is located next to Mombasa Road. It is used to host most of the public holidays. It also has a swimming pool which is open to the public throughout the week. #letsguide

Currently, the institution is going through renovations and no activities are taking place. The public and all stakeholders should bare with the work that is going on so that in four months as anticipated the place will be in use as usual.

  • Robert Opiyo

Here's a secret when running the marathons - Push yourself the initial run of the laps but as you get to Langata roads stretch to get into the stadium, prepare for a running boost on the stadium's track

The swimming pool is amazing. Always clean and large enough. Although the changing rooms are a bit tiny, but they are convenient if you don't ask for much from life.
