The cinema is in dire need of some refurbishment and is very much understaffed. It felt like the staff that were there were really struggling to juggle all the work involved with running a cinema. The door for the disabled entrance was not opening properly when I got there, the snack counter had no fountain drinks working, there was only salted popcorn available and it seemed to be running low as well. There was no one at the door to the screen our film was in and when the picture actually started someone in the audience had to close the door to stop the light from the hallway causing a glare on the screen, plus it didn't ever feel like the room got properly dark as the small overhead lights remained on (yet dimmed). I hadn't been back here since 2019 and I don't see myself coming back unless the company invests in some refurbishments and their staff. It's a shame as I used to go here a lot when I was younger and going to the cinema used to be quite a nice experience there
Worst cinema experience I’ve had. The only exception was the staff were rather understanding and professional. We went to see the exorcist at 8:50pm, myself and my partner were very excited. A group of teenagers sat behind us and disrespect is not even the word. Laughing, running around, vaping, throwing food around, one group of them sat at one end of the row behind us and one the other end, meaning the noise from both ends was unbearable, and the sound volume in screen 1 is not the best even when the audience are quiet. Screaming and shouting, laughing talking at full volume no respect for anyone in the screening. Myself and my partner had to leave and ask for a refund we barely got to watch the film. So if you’re reading this and was the group of teenagers behind us have some respect and go somewhere else if you cannot be quiet through a film!
This is easily the coldest and most uncomfortable cinema I have ever been to, its 40 years behind the times in every possible respect, except for it's prices, which are as much as everywhere else... this cinema has either been singled out for no upgrade and refurbishment or it has been forgotten, it reminded me of local cinemas in hicksville in the 1980's, I guess all the locals knew, my son and I were the only people in the cinema, and we sat shivering and wishing we thought of bringing cushions and blankets, or gone somewhere else to see the movie, it was the most miserable cinema experience either of us have ever had. Never going back there, I don't even remember the movie, I just remember being extremely uncomfortable and shivering all the way through the movie, and being extremely happy when it was over. A bit like having a tooth extraction.
A generally good experience - came to see the new Avatar film, booked tickets online (they were not checked inside the cinema), walked to the till to buy some snacks / drinks. A large (huge) popcorn and large drink came to about a tenner, which I didn't think was too bad. We were in the first room, probably one of the largest. The seats were comfortable and it was relatively pleasant initially, although it just got cooler and cooler as the film went on. By the end of the film we had our coats on, with the hoods up, shivering because the temperature had dropped so much. It didn't ruin the film for us, however, we were glad to leave. There were also far too many previews beforehand, with the film not starting till circa 30-35 mins after its scheduled start time.
This cinema has amazing prices if you join sign in for "my Odeon Saver". I get now tickets for 5 pounds for a moovie. We like to see films during the week when it is less people. The screens are fine, but I have an impression that they are could be brighter (that's why I give only 4 stars) so I would reccomend to see big productions in 3D in IMAX rather then here. Drinks and popcorn is here, seats are comfortable. Some rooms are bigger then others, so if you like a big one, go for Screen 1 (430 seats) or 5 (206 seats), but otherwise screens are big anyway. This cinema is quite clean. I reccomend. Easy access also from Streatham Station, or from Streatham Hill Station, no more then 10 mins walk.
Went to see A Haunting In Venice tonight ( Saturday 16th September). Worst experience my wife and I have had for a long time. We were in Screen1 and the volume was unbearably loud. Bearing in mind that the film is not an action movie or such like it was absolutely ridiculous. Also the theatre was absolutely freezing, and after complaining to a staff member it turns out that it’s been a problem for quite a while. We had to leave after about 15mins, couldn’t bear it any longer, shame as we were looking forward to seeing the movie. The staff were very understanding and actually refunded our ticket money. Won’t be rushing back there any time soon!
Cinema experience was great, seats comfy and snacks ordred ahead of time were ready immediately. I lost my phone and the staff were extremely helpful, using every effort to help retrieve my phone. They searched the screen, passage and used their personal phones to continually call and text my phone. They even checked the cctv and were very courteous and concerned. Staff member, Sherron was particularly helpful and led the search. My phone was eventually returned to me by the person who found it later that day. Thank you Sherron for going over and above.
I went for the first time to watch Barbie in the Screen 1, which is one of the big rooms and it was comfortable and the vision really good. I would definitely go back, and if you sign up you get even a better price for the tickets, which can be quite cheap. The service for the popcorn and drinks was a bit slow and it gets messy, because the counter is close to the entrance and there are many people stuck in there as you come in when it's busy. I would recommend to arrive early in those occasions, as we queued for 15-20mins.
I've lived in Streatham my whole life and used to love going as a kid, but this place is really run down now. I had heard it was refurbished but it clearly wasn't enough, as there are still multiple ripped up seats and a constant bad smell in most screen rooms. The staff are fine and generally quite polite but that is not a good enough reason to go here. I definitely wouldn't recommend and it'd be best if odeon gave up on this cinema and sold the building if they won't put proper effort into maintaining it
Horrible. Do not come here. The ONLY redeeming feature was the polite chap who served us our drinks and snacks. The screen area had lights on at the back during the entire film. The toilets were a disgrace. The attitude of staff members at the entrance was rude and dismissive. The actual film was ruined by what can only be described as a crèche-like atmosphere - so much rustling of bags and snacks, people talking and dropping things on the floor loudly… and that was just the adults!
Worst cinema experience in my life so far. Extremely poor screen quality, worst than an androids snapchat camera. Even worse sound quality, honestly could not hear parts of the dialog due to muffled speakers. Popcorn was far from fresh. Also it seemed as though the person doing the projections kept putting things in front of the projection causing shadows on the screen. Watching a pirate DVD in a homeless shelter would have been better than this experience.
Smaller Odeon but at a very convenient place in the neighbourhood and probably the only one in South London (thankfully). The toilets unfortunately are too small on the ground floor, barely with any space and the ones upstairs always have quite a long queue and end up being dirty. The food queue before showtimes can be quite long as well and a few times we just gave up and went in. If the services can be improved that would make this place extra popular.
Definitely the worst ODEON I've been to, it has a level of maintenance that I would expect from a struggling independent cinema not a big chain. The screen we went into was tiny, we actually expected the sides to get wider once the trailers were over, except.. It didn't.. Which meant the screen felt like it could have been smaller than some TVs now Also as other comments have pointed out, we also had the issue where someone forgot to dim the lights.
Lived in Streatham for 15 years and this place has just gone downhill so badly. Kids just walk in to screenings without buying tickets (there are two ways up to the screens and one security guard.. that doesn't work Odeon!), The in the screenings the people who didn't buy tickets just mess about on phones, talk, get up and be noisy. Do not go here if you want to watch a film, but if you enjoy two hours of people being annoying go right ahead.
Haven't visited in some time, was told they had updated and upgraded the seating, so was expecting more then we got. Yes the horrible chair had been replaced with leather chairs, but the absence of leg space didnt allow you to enjoy it. The cramped tight space designed for a toddler, meant we couldn't enjoy the feature we gad gone to see. If I was the come back It would have to be for a free film, even then I would have to think twice.
Customer service is above excellent from the staff (the actual people who work there). A wider choice of films would be very welcome, especially seasonal, special releases, etc. It needs one screen to have a proper bassy sound system, as all are adequate to good. Sounds greedy, but it just needs one to be A* sound. Unfortunately, some-many of the customers have complete disregard for their fellow cinema goers (hell, is other people)!
Worst cinema experience ever. No staff members checked the screens during the whole film. People talking loudly through its entirety and running around, it seems like some didn't have tickets as nobody seems to be checking them at the door. Staff behind the counter not wearing uniform. Shockingly poor customer service. Picture quality and sound was below par. Just avoid, better off heading to Wandsworth or better yet Wimbledon
Watched the Little Mermaid on screen 1. Sound system is atrociously bad. No bass, all treble coming off the screen - no depth, no surround sound. The worst cinema sound experienced in decades. Visuals were not centered and blurred and dark on right hand side of screen. Every time the technician entered the projector room an amber rectangle appeared on screen. A truly former century experience. Avoid at all cost.
good cinema, service is ridiculous though. I understand Barbenheimer is out at the moment so the cinema is busier than usual, however the cinema should compensate for this with more staff at the front. Waited in a 15 minute queue to get tickets all because there were on 2 guys on the desk serving food; drinks; tickets etc - 1 staff member with glasses seemed particularly slow and like he couldn't care less.
The screening room was freezing, it was a hot day so a lot of people were dressed for summer but in the screening room you needed to be dressed for winter. The AC was blowing hard but I did not want to miss the film so had to suffer in the cold. When I went to the toilet a lot of people were complaining about the ridiculous temperature and we all forgot that it was hot outside.
I have to say that I had not a great experience yesterday when I went to see the killers of the flower moon. Stage 6 7pm, the intensity of the brightness kept coming up and down during the whole movie and the sound was so low I barely could hear the film what it is something rare for a cinema I guess. Always thought Odeon was a proper place to go but maybe not in Streatham
If I could, would give a zero star. The cinema its dirty, smelly and noisy. A lot of people do not even bother to buy the tickets as the tickets are not being checked any way. We went to see the new Spiderman. Unbelievable experience to watch it - the people were talking, screaming, being on the phones. Please avoid this cinema. Odeon group should be ashamed of this one.
Good cinema. Not sure what you can really complain about, you pay for a movie and they show it to you. It’s clean, staff are polite enough. Pretty sure they let the local food bank set up outside. Only thing that could be improved is wait times for food, sometimes food isn’t ready and you have to collect it during the film which is frustrating
Went to a movie in cinema 1 and the person booking the tickets didn't realise how big the cinema is relative to the size of the screen (surprisingly small). We sat 'middle-middle' which was way too far back. Everything is optimised for the premium seats, including the sound. Was a good reminder of why I don't really bother with cinema anymore.
It wasn't too bad like sometimes is when there's lots of teens on the back sit making noise and drinking alcohol and inhaling that funny gaz from balloons, this cinema should have security to walk throughout every screen and make sure that there is peaceful atmosphere cus some people attitude it's f.....g disqusting ,peace ✌ …
Nice theater with friendly staff. Don't expect state-of-the-art hardware, the ads before you can actually watch a movie were a bit too much for me, but other than that I have enjoyed my time most of the time. A good place to spend some time every now and then especially when a great movie has arrived. I will come back for sure.
Oh my god no wonder the tickets are so cheap. The screen size was good but sounds wasn't that loud. The seats weren't comfortable enjoignit for Oppenheimer as it is a 3h film. Most people don't have manners because one guy kept burping out loud every 10 minutes. Overall a good cinema but sacrifices comfort and luxury to prices
It's a good space, bit of a tired cinema but we were at screen 1 and it's like sitting in a theatre the room's so big. However, the sound system is shocking. Couldn't hear half of the dialogue when there was music and speaking at the same time, and if it was just talking there was a horrendous echo. Avoid if you can.
staff lovely, kind. However came in Saturday night for a 9:10pm screening. No aircon in the screen (or minimal), was very stuffy. Went to the toilets and they had to be the worst public toilets I have been to in a while. Discarded rubbish everywhere, and used sanitary items around/in the toilet- quite off putting.
As someone mentioned earlier the building needs refurbishment. Scrapped paint of the walls. Its messy and the screens are bad. Went there on 6.08 but the screen 3 was so dark and the quality was also bad. The one at Wimbledon is much better. I don't think the cinema had any updates in the last 10 years.
Echoing what others have said here. Wish I read the reviews first before booking. Screen 1 - terrible sound quality you can barely even hear what they’re saying. Genuinely needed captions. Not worth it, go somewhere else where you can actually hear the film as it totally ruins the experience.
Dreadful seating and screens. We were in screen 4. The screens are badly in need of an update. Broken seats, distracting lighting and very uncomfortable seating. Otherwise staff are wonderful and friendly. Helpful and the only redeeming positive experience of this place in general
Went to see Book Club 2 here, movie at 3pm, we had to ask the manager to higher the volume as we couldn't hear the actors speaking although the background music was loud enough. Only one cubicle working in ladies loo, no handdryer or paper towels to dry hands
Staff was nice but I could not believe how washed out the image was in theatre 8. So bad that I went to complain. They didn't seem to fix anything. It completely ruined D&D for me. The sound is completely mangled too but compared to the flat image, it's ok.
Such a shame ODEON have allowed this branch to wither away with time. Generally tired throughout, and sound quality in the screen was appalling and ruined the film. Won’t be revisiting until ODEON give this branchba desperately needed revamp.
Horrible sound quality and very small screen. We went to watch barbie and the sound was so bad I had to strain to understand what the actors were saying. It was tinny and hurt my ears - almost ruined it :( also the toilets were dirty.
Ad run time is long. Screen number 5 has chairs angled for some reason, and compared to vue, the seats are somewhat uncomfortable and cramped, especially the arm rest. Didn't have any other glaring problems. Watched the film and left
Never had a bad time here. Always clean. Staff could be a bit more interactive but then the cinema as an industry is dying so not surprised that they can sometimes seem like statues. They were polite though which is always great.
I am very disappointed with the fact that we had to leave Screen 4 because of the pee smell (very strong). You guys should check the toilet drainage or maybe clean the carpet or maybe both. Altought personel very friendly Cheers
Very run down, a bit dirty and the toilets stink! Even though it’s almost empty and lots of staff around - would be good to train and get more of them for cleaning rather than standing around by the entrance / concession.
Very cheap movie tickets!! Great for students like myself. However the popcorn tasted like it had sat for 24 hours before being served, and the cinema screens and chairs weren’t the greatest. Overall a decent experience
Great cinema space, but needs to improve it's disabled access to the upstairs screen.... I'm not sure how financially viable it would be but that why for me it hasn't got 5 stars.... Staff professional and friendly....
The day we went it’s was absolutely boiling hot in the cinema so much so we almost left, toilets pretty rank to with no paper, probably best to stick to purley way, but it’s a shame as I very rarely write bad reviews
Screen 1 they keep lights on, so it ruins screening, screen seems washed off and grey, can’t see anything if movie shows night etc. You guys should switch all lights off like every other cinema.
Old cinema, definitely need a massive refurbishment! Old seats, damaged, same of them unusable! Nobody at the entrance to check the tickets. Inside the screen quite cold! Never again!!!
Wouldn't go here in this cinema ever because as soon as u enter the cinema screen rooms it smelt like urine as if someone had urinated there. the toilets are not clean at all also....
The auditorium had no air conditioning. Which makes viewing experiences really uncomfortable, especially for long films. My sweet popcorn didn't taste that great. Nachos were nice.
The staff are lovely but the venue could do with an update. Getting to screen 8 was a marathon. Very small toilets not very well kept. Enjoyed the film and had a comfortable seat.
Went to see a pre-release courtesy of Sky VIP. Cinema was clean, staff were informative, and I had a nostalgia moment and purchased ( an expensive) hotdog. It tasted good though.
Popcorn was stale, and there was no aircon in screen 2. It was so hot in there that it was like a sauna. Also, there is not enough leg room on row E if you're over 5'9".
Absolutely terrible place. Screen 1 room speaker system is dated. Seating at the back, I couldn't hear some parts of the movie properly. I would never go back there.
I go regularly. Friendly staff. Good choice of films. Clean, decent amount of toilets. Easy to get to. Cycle parking outside. Benches to sit and meet outside.
The staff are very nice. 5 stars to staff. But the company needs to improve the quality of their equipament. The audio quality and 3D effects are poor.
Very poor audio quality due to bad acoustics in the room. Also suffered from a small screen and poor picture contrast. Would opt for other theaters.
Its been many times im coming to this cinema gosh they domt turn of the lights . We r watching it literally room lights and nothing visible …
Could hear Taylor swift throughout the whole movie and there was nobody at the concession stand to talk to about it after the film.
Loved the movie I watched, but the cinema really took 30 mins out of my precious time to air adverts before starting the movie.
Screen 7 is a tiny screen, broken ceiling tiles, very weak sound. Screen 4 is also weak, poor contrast and blacks, no rake.
Great films, snsibe showing times, staff always polite and work as fast as possible at the desk. Could be cleaner.
There’s a guy that always at door To check if people has the tickets and he is so nice and polite! Great cinema !
Sound quality was low and we were quite far away from the screen. Can’t really complain about the price though
Went to see haunted mansion good film bought tickets online so got in nice and quick without fuss
In desperate need of a revamp. Dirty old and outdated. The only good thing is that it's local.
The cinema had sticky floors and the seating was about as comfortable as a Ryanair flight.
Big up Mickey! Lost my earmuffs 3 weeks ago, this legend found them! Thank you …
My laptop has better surround sound. I'd be more comfortable watching.
I’ve been here few times and it’s always been a pleasant experience
Staff are lovely, but the cleanliness of screens ain't great.
Regular customer here. £5 a ticket offer is great !
Very friendly staff and comfortable seats.
