I was in three-members English speaking group visiting catacombs in November 2019. Leo, our guide, speaks very good English and is knowledgeable about the history of the catacombs. It was interesting to hear stories behind different graffiti on the walls as well as the stories from the WWII. We went to the “natural” catacombs and we saw the ones that were made by mining and later prepared as a shelter. It was nice to be in a smaller group as we could take as much time as we needed at some locations. As everyone else said – have cloths and shoes that you will not mind making dirty. We went through some really narrow passage to get to the “natural” catacombs and crawling through those passages you get mud on your clothes and shoes. Temperature is rather high and it is very humid – long sleeves without a jacket would be sufficient. Leo said that temperature does not change much throughout the year. Our visit lasted 2,5 hrs. If you want to see something different, you should visit this location.

I wanted to take tour inside the catacombs yesterday. After sending a message on Whatsapp, there was a quick reply from Leonid. He invited me for a tour either at 14:00 or at 17:00. I signed up for the tour at 14:00, and went to the location that he provided. Arriving there, I noticed that I was the only non-Russian speaking person, so I was a bit unsure on what to expect. This appeared not to be a problem: Leonid gave me a private tour in English while the Russian tour was a little ahead of us. It was a great experience to learn the history of Odessa and what role the catacombs played in the history of the city. I won't share the details, just sign up for yourself and enjoy ;) We closed off the tour at an underground bar where he served me two shots of "moonshine", an alcoholic drink, and then it was time to get back outside. Great tour, great experience!

We were in Odessa with a friend and heard about the catacombs and were really interested to do a tour. We contacted the Odessa catacombs tour and they answered directly offering a tour the same day. It was actually one of the best part of our trip. Leonid our guide made us feel comfortable very quickly despite the kind of dark and lifeless environment we were in. We were amazed by the enginuity of the construction and the number of stories related to the catacombs. Don't hesitate to book a tour it's really worth it!

This was a great experience. If you don't want to take the easiest path with a large group of tourists, ask for Leonid. He's an excellent guide and extremely knowledgeable about the history of the catacombs. You'll see much more on his tour and get a lot more interesting information than if you stay with a large group. You might get a little dirty but it's worth it!

Brilliant, friendly and fascinating. The extreme tour is highly recommended. I was unsure whether the trip might be boring and I can certainly say that it wasn't. Leo has many many fascinating stories, facts and hustory and was enthusiastic and excited to share all sorts of stories - of lovers, madness, art and even murder. I highly recommend!

Two very exciting hours underground with our tourguide Leo. An absolute must when you visit Odessa. Not all tour options are available anytime due to minimum group sizes. Just check in advance via WhatsApp and you will get a response right away. The regular tour provides a perfect overview and lots of insights and stories.

Really good experience, went in a group of 3 and all os us were pleasantly surprised. Only wish we could have had time to visit more. The catacombs in Odessa are a mesmerizing experience, totally worth the hours and the money. Leonid is a fantastic guide, combining knowledge and fun factors. It was a really nice tour with lots of stories and facts about Odessa catacombs. Unexpectedly interesting experience. The guide Leonidas was very friendly and helpful. We were late for 30mins to our reservation but he got our full tour rearranged. Outstanding service you can't often get in Odessa.

This afternoon I followed a private tour and I must say, it was really very interesting. I had heard about this place from a book (by Robert Macfarlane) and it didn't disappoint me; so much history hanging between those walls and Leonid (good English) knows all about it!
