I think it's kinda crazy that I check this score 3 weeks ago and it lost ½ a star all ready..... I really don't know what to say about this place... I checked the score before I got hired... I got fired today... I really tried to get my staff excited to work... everyone and I mean everyone hates this job. The owner is a monster in a skin suit, adding to the suit with each employee slain. My fisrt day was July 5. On July 4 all hell broke loose on the peir and everyone bailed. All the shops had people hiding in them... but Oh Ya Chicago.... instead of making sure their staff was safe like the the other stores (which were opening late because of the shape their stores were in) the owner made everyone come back at 1am to clean up what happened in their store. I found this out about 3 days ago of this post.... no other store is under such stress on the pier... hell I almost didn't get paid yesterday do to the shape of this place. I had coworkers come on at 1pm to get their paycheck just to wait an hour and a half to finally get them. There is no such thing as direct deposit for this place(you legit are not allowed to have it), staff will explain the simplest task 10 times to make sure "you got it" just to blow it over the mic 3 more times distracting you on whatever you're doing(if you also do something right they make sure to give you some snarky comment if you did it right) I felt like I was 5 years old just being carted around never really being thought on what I had to do besides COUNT THE SAFE, COUNT THE SAFE!!!, COUNT THE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!! I've never met anyone so paranoid about the money... a room that requires 2 keys to get into that only managers have (no one can even get to the back room to grab anything without asking a manager,) just to be under HD 24 hour surveillance.... no one is taking your money omg... maybe if the average time span of staff wasnt 3 weeks they wouldn't be so paranoid because they would have a long term trustful staff. No joke.... some managers were a month old... If that.... Someone on their first day was 6mins late because of the bus/train... makes sense not knowing what exact time they should leave... they got written up and got talked to... I'm not kidding... they said if you plan on being a little late, plan on leaving earlier... yall know that if a train don't run it don't run... I have no control over that.... it was their first day. The "uniform" you have to pay for out of your first check. If you break something or your register is even a little off it's taken out if your check. My name bage.... like a $0.50 thing right before I let they asked for it back... oh but you can keep the shirt... yeah probably because I already paid for it.... or maybe because I didnt have a change of clothing so they were "nice" enough for me to keep it... Don't expect anything form this place.... the reviews are right... I've seen literally all of it. Bad coaching, bad owner(I'm told all other owners on the peir hate this owner as well), horrible hours.... cool I get out at 12:30am down town with no way home... thanks, never thinks of how the staff is doing unless you're doing something wrong, the floor manager is always on their phone(I think with the owner talking/looking at the cameras, or walking away for an hour or so to talk to the owner... not joking always talking to the owner) All I can say is RUN get a job anywhere else I got burned out in 3 weeks, if I didn't get fired which I'm still not sure why because they wouldn't tell me... I was going to quit today or end of the week anyway.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My husband and I were looking for something to bring home to my daughter. He picked up a sippy cup that said Chicago on it to see if it was bpa free (it wasn't). In the process he accidentally knocked over a $4 snow globe type thing along with 3-4 water bottles. We were not horseing around or making a scene, it was a legit accident. We were in the process of picking up and hadn't even been so for more than 30 seconds before one of the employees was urgently calling into a headset about ruined product. She then was muttering to us about having to buy that at 50% off or having to buy something else. We tried to explain it was an accident, but then the manager was right there, also demanding that we pay for it or buy something else, because"that was the rule". Honestly I needed to get something for my daughter and was probably going to buy something either way, but the way we were spoken to left a bad taste. We still wandered around looking for something to buy for like 2 minutes, but I really didn't feel welcome anymore so we decided to leave. We tried to hand the lady $2 on the way out, but she wouldn't take it and made us go to the register instead. Seriously, we could have just walked out of there and they couldn't have stopped us, we were just trying to make it right (even though it was an accident) and even that was a hassle. Shopper beware. It wasn't the concept of paying for something we broke- it was the way we were treated.

I love the selection they had. Prices were high, but you expect that at a souvenir shop. I love my hoodie and hat. However when I write reviews, I write based on customer service and quality of product/service received. I am a tourist (not local to Chicago). When I kept asking for help, I was completely ignored. Then after picking up a hoodie and hat that was high on rack that required employee assistance, the employee caught an attitude with me for getting it without proper assistance. Then instead of trying to help at that moment, she said you can’t buy anything without buying a mask first. I was using a credit card, so I was not going to swipe my card for 1.99 for a mask then turn around and swipe it again for a 70$ purchase. So I politely asked if I can just get the mask but pay for it when I pay for my souvenirs, she just turned and walked away from me saying no mask no service. That was rude in my opinion.

I went to this store last night, the dog side, I accidentally bumped into something and knocked a box off the shelf, I looked at one of the employees and I said sorry, he literally scowled at me like a child. My sister picked up the box, and I told him, we are picking it up and in an angry voice he replied "I can see that" and I replied with I am sorry, he continued to scowl. I told the people who were with me, that I did not want to be in there any more. I then told him, I hope you have a better day. I will not be shopping there ever again if I return to Chicago. That is a poor representation of your business, I hope that you can find nicer employees in the future.

I was walking through here and was planning on buying things. However after seeing how Management treats the staff here I won’t be back and I implore others not to. I personally witnessed a manager denying an employee any kind of break because they weren’t working over 7 hours. Thats downright exploitative, and I won’t support a business that does that. If you come here, know that you’ll likely have terrible customer service at no fault of the employees because they are being over worked by a manager who likely gets all of her breaks just fine. It’s absolutely abhorrent and I pray that poor girl quit along with the rest of the staff.

As you’ll read in many of the previous reviews for this business there is a certain older balding gentlemen with glasses that is very unkind. I actually had items that I was going to buy in hand but when he started raising his voice at customers and ranting I put those items right back. Would’ve loved to support a single store business, but was not going to put money towards employees that behave that way. Again these reviews make it look like this is a recurring issue, but clearly they don’t care to solve it. Will not be back!

I had family visiting from out of town and instantly brought them here. We really liked decorations and atmosphere of this place. Considering its pride month, the store was inclusively decorated. My family wanted to bring back some cute things for friends and family and the staff was very helpful. I gave them ideas about what our friends from home would like and they helped me narrow down on the best souviner choices. A great place for all your Chicago knickknacks.

I am happy to break the ice with the reviews. I've seen and read many reviews as far as the previous manager and bad customer service. I am glad to say there is a new manager, her name is Ashley. She is so bright, bubbly and just a peoples person. Which is perfect for a customer service position. She definitely made the experience better than expected and I am grateful for it. Thank you for making my first trip to Chicago worth it :)

Middle age Bald guy with glasses was very rude and very unprofessional talking about customers in-front of them saying “if they’re not gonna buy anything then they need to leave” when this was my little brothers first time in chicago and was genuinely looking to buy something. Additionally, he had people follow us and stare at us as if we were some criminals. DO NOT RECOMMEND. BUY YOUR THINGS ELSEWHERE.

Really cute stuff but rude staff. My mom liked a shirt and they had her size on display. The employee said that they can’t sell it because it’s on display and that the owner doesn’t allow that. 1) that is the most asinine rule ever. 2) I get that the owner made the rule but you don’t need to be so nasty about it. I wanted to drop everything and leave after that, but my mom found some cute things.

I witnessed a cashier completely insult a customer by asking she was pregnant yesterday. Not sure how blind that woman was because the girl clearly WAS NOT. My husband and I put all of our items back because we will NOT support such a rude and poorly staffed store. Absolutely ruined our trip to Chicago. Glad to see the couple involved left a review too. That employee doesn’t deserve her job!

Sadly, not at all surprised to see other shoppers had the same negative experience I did. The gentleman in the store (manager I presume) was quite rude. My wife and I received two sets of rude comments. After the second time, we put back the products we had picked out and just walked out. Lofe is too short to deal with people like this, especially when they are in customer service.

I bought a $15 cup, turned and immediately dropped it and broke it. I must have looked distressed, the sweet cashier said "it is o.k., we can replace it". A cashier, who I presume was the manager, yelled out "No, we won't!" very rudely. I am from TN and wasn't expecting such rudeness. Now I own a $30 cup. Be careful what you buy at this store AND BE SURE NOT TO DROP IT!

  • Katy Larki

If I could leave zero stars I would. Every single person in this store was so rude and a security guard followed us EVERYWHERE. He wasn’t even being inconspicuous about it. It was very uncomfortable the whole time. I will never set foot into that HORRIBLE store again. Do yourself a favor, go to another souvenir shop.

  • Daniel Bredy

Oh no Chicago. I bought a hoodie for my daughter here. When we got back to our hotel, the item was too small. Came back next day to try to exchange and the manager told us all sales are final even though my daughter had not even worn the item. Avoid this place at all costs.

  • Carson Sands

One of the best Chicago souvenir stores I have ever been to! The products are so cute and reasonably priced for the quality you are getting! There are so many cool products for anything you can think of from gifts for others and stylish clothes for myself. Love this store!!

  • Tina Peters

Walked into the store and some random guy, turned out to be the manager, told me that the store was closing in an hour and I had better hurry up because he would kick me out. Seriously? I walked out and didn’t look back. Terrible store, terrible people.

  • Johnathan Edwards

What a awesome place. The workers were very accommodating. Today was first day open and even though they didn't have everything, they asked if we were coming back so they could bring some new merch out for us! That is awesome customer service.

  • Inday R

Store people are rude and not very accommodating!!!! Especially the bald guy with glasses. He was very obnoxious and rude. Will not recommend shopping here!!! People, listen to the reviews and avoid this place like a plaque!!!

Needed to get $500. worth of gifts for clients. Thought I could shop here, but unfriendly service. The lady there was too good to provide any kind assistance to me, so I left the store & decided to purchase gifts elsewhere.

  • HT Lee

My son and wife were reviewing souvenirs to buy for friends. But cashier lady approached him and kept saying "man" several times and made him scared. Please do not make customer scared. I want to spend money at your store.

  • fabiana dommar

Terrible experience, after I paid, the teller said that my transaction was declined, and the amount was charged to my credit card, I showed my balance in my phone but she said that I need to comunícate with my bank.

  • william cortesi

Walked in with a bag of almonds was told to put them away while in the store, so walked out and took my business elsewhere along with my family. You lost my business over nothing. No wonder you only have 2 stars.

  • Jackie Tapia

Worked here for about a week before leaving after seeing the unprofessional attitudes and such; claimed to have sent my last check “two” weeks ago, still haven’t gotten it. EDIT: I never did get that check

  • khurram khan

Purchased this and went to exchange it 30 minutes later as it was damaged. Sales rep said good luck all sales are final. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!

  • Luai ALAHMAD

As soon as we walked inside the store 2 of the workers were starring at us as we were Thief’s Me and my Doughter did not feel comfortable at all.

  • F Bredy

Awful exchange policy. Bought a hoodie and attempted to exchange it (with tags) for a larger size the next day and was told “NO”!

  • Timmie Caruso

Bought stuff there 3 times. Been happy with all. A little expensive, but no more than other places at Navy Pier.
