If we could give the Old Country Shop a 10 Star rating we would but 5 is the highest available. To say that they went above and beyond is an understatement. We wanted a special gift for an elderly gentleman’s birthday, something that would cheer him up and remind him of the happier days. Sabine helped us choose a selection of marzipan treats his favourite. Acquiring a gift was the first issue, but given the Covid lockdown situation how would we be able to get it to him? Sabine to the rescue! Although Old Country Shop does not normally deliver to our friend’s home area, she offered to make sure the gift got there for him in time for his special day. We had forgotten to ask for a card to purchase a card but remembered after the store had closed. Sabine anticipated that we may want to include a card and brought one home with her just in case. The gift was beautifully wrapped and a card included and delivered to our friend’s home with the appropriate Covid safety precautions taken. He was absolutely delighted beyond words. Thank you Old Country Shop. And a special thank you to Sabine, you went out of your way to ensure an elderly gentleman weary from months of being shut in, had a special treat on his birthday. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness, caring and incredible service.

I love the people here and want this store to thrive but here’s some constructive criticism... The new sign is beautiful but the selection and display of merchandise and overall ambience needs a better vision. This could be THE place where children beg their parents to come visit at Christmas. Put a Santa train in the window, some whimsical decor like twinkle lights - simple but important details for atmosphere such as Alpine music gently playing in the background and better goodies like what they sell at Food Depot International. The Old Country Shop can be so much better and therefor give better reason for customers to return more often.

An eclectic gift shop with a focus on European brands that had been in business for nearly 60 years (est 1961?). Some of the items that I recall: Hansa plush toys, ornamental nut crackers, "gingerbread incense" candles, cookies, kitchen utensils including knives, biscuits, chocolates and more. Excellent and friendly customer service. Will return and post some photos.

Sabine is amazing! If you can make it in please do so! Her shop has the most welcoming and friendly old country atmosphere - beautiful, reasonably priced and amazing selection of products - Sabine goes out of her way for her customers - Hands down my favourite place to shop for all those specialty authentic European items - food.. gifts.. treats!

Very kind, friendly and helpful people are working there. They have a big variety of products from different countries of Europe: few items for food, but many beautiful hand made crafts, pottery, wooden toys for babies and young children. Some of the items are a little bit pricey, but I believe, definitely worth it.

The Old Country Shop is one of the few vestiges of the time when Roncesvalles Avenue had many Eurocentric shops. It was and continues to be our favourite place to purchase Christmas and Easter time treats and ornaments. We also love the care they take to decorate their windows and often show great creativity.

Great place to shop both online and in person. They have the best selection of candies, and chocolates from Europe, and great quality kitchen products. Staff is very helpful and always gets the orders out quickly and on time. Great place to shop for anyone looking for high quality products.

This store is a link to the old-world of Europe, and a bit of what Roncesvalles used to be about. Old Country Shop features loads of giftable gems from Germany, including sweets and toys, but the prices match the fact that everything is imported, so keep that in mind when shopping.

Have bought some lovely and unique gifts here over the years. One standout has been the carved wooden toy blocks available in various languages, also great customer service at this family run business. A very unique gem in the neighbourhood!

Their Christmas cookies and sweets are authentic and delicious. The gifts are handcrafted and really remind me of my childhood in Germany. I am looking forward to visiting the store soon.
