Staff isn't as friendly as they used to be. The housekeeping is really poor in the whole gym in general but especially in the bathrooms. The broken machines take really long to get fixed. Some personnel that work there get involved in gossiping and mistreatment (personal experience). It really has changed since I started working out here, especially since last year. I still love this gym, but now I don't feel comfortable anymore when I go there. My husband and I were very excited to find this place when we did, and now it is very disappointing The 24-hour access doesn't work for everybody the same. If u have acrylic nails, it won't work, or your hand would have to be scanned every time you get your nails done or if u don't use it for over a week and the personnel look like they got tired of scanning peoples hands and they just stopped doing it. Now, whenever I go, I have to wait outside for someone with access so I can get in. I used to call this the best gym ever, a real gym. Nowadays, not so much, it is still a good gym but needs a lot of improvements. Some of the people that work there look at you like you're less than them and like you don't deserve to be treated like a person (rude) like they have something personal against you. I really hope this changes soon and this place goes back to be the way it was.

Don't go here if you think you'll ever need to cancel your membership. I no longer live in the area so I needed to cancel my membership over the phone. Not only did the manager I spoke to agree to end my membership, he agreed not to hold me to the 30 day notice that would have put me a couple days into the next month. Several months later I saw I was still being charged. I called again, received an apology, and was told it would be dealt with. I called again to double check a week before the next charge took place and was told my membership was STILL active. Thankfully the employee remembered me and gave me his word the membership would end immediately (third time's the charm). I imagine the original manager who agreed to cancel my membership simply got busy and forgot to put it in the system after the initial call. However, when I asked the employee about receiving a credit for their mistake the manager would not even get on the phone with me. All calls were cordial, so he had no reason not to speak to me and correct the situation other than sheer laziness and embarrassment about his mistake. No refund was given and I am out hundreds of dollars for his failure. The gym itself is simply not worth the risks involved with dealing with that type of leadership. Go somewhere you can trust.

There are three things that I think make or break a gym: cleanliness, staff, equipment/atmosphere. 1. Cleanliness. OG is clean! They do a good job keeping up with cleaning their equipment, floors, and bathrooms! 2. Staff. Their staff is friendly and down to earth! Plus, since they’re not corporately owned, you’ll be able to cross paths with the owners while they are working out or just hanging out at the front. This makes you feel more connected to the place. Their manager Brent is a great guy, too! 3. Equipment and Atmosphere. Hands down, OG has the best equipment in KC. Split between three different huge rooms, they everything you need for cardio, heavy weights, machines, Olympic style platforms, squat racks, monkey bars, big tires, and more!! Moreover, the atmosphere is addicting! Since people here are serious about working out, you can’t help but be in here and want to workout hard!

I’ve been to literally hundreds of gyms in multiple states over 25 years I’ve been working out. This is the most extensively equipped one I’ve ever been to. Tremendous number of Strongman, Olympic Lifting and Powerlifting equipment. Moreover, if you’re someone who wants access to the more standard cardio and strength machines, free weights and cables, you will not find a better gym anywhere. Rarely busy and not intimidating whatsoever for the inexperienced fitness enthusiast. Having 24 hour access is a huge luxury and growing more rare in the health club industry. .Vince, one of the owners has put together the ideal fitness facility for whatever type of workouts you do. Michael, a front desk worker is very accommodating and professional. As a whole, all the Front desk Staff are always accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Could not recommend any higher!

Ok, so...I'm writing this review as an out-of-towner who is here for just a few days. Bottom line up front: this place is a gem. I've seen a review here that says "best gym north of the river" which is a great compliment...but to be honest I've had a hard time believing any gym is better than this one. First impression walking in the door: Super-friendly staff who seemed to go out of the way to help me out, even though I only need a short-term membership. That made me feel good. Second impression walking through the facility: wow...this place is huge. There's tons of equipment and patrons of all levels working out. Despite this it feels like an actual gym...the kind where you can go to get down to business. Join this place...it's legit.

Instafluencers have overpopulated the gym with their tripods, videos, and endless need for validation. Half the machines don’t work and the most used machines are always in short supply and/or in use. The sauna has toenails in there since being put in and the bathrooms both smell and look atrocious. Gym etiquette is also out the window. There is a growing amount of peeps there that would rather pose/flex with their shirts off in front of the mirrors and invade your personal space during peak hours than even for a second consider someone other than themselves. Huge culture change there in the last year

I come to this gym every time I come back to Kansas City to see my elderly parents. I cannot say enough great things about this gym, but most importantly, the two employee's I have mainly dealt with when I purchase my short-term membership. Xavien Sutton and Jake Young have been extremely helpful, professional and kind. They remembered me from when I was there in May. Their customer service is great! Good job guys!

  • Anna Hilterbrand

Went to check this gym out today. And it did not disappoint, called the day before to get a tour. They picked up the phone very quick. And told me to come in around 8-2. Took a tour and was sold in 5 minutes. Mya was incredibly helpful and very kind. I signed up for a membership. The check in system is very safe. And I look forward to continuing my journey here.

I've been going to this gym for over a year, and no other gym in the area even compares. This gym has everything: 24 hour access, good music (usually played loudly which I love), a variety of *good quality* equipment, motivational members & atmosphere, friendly staff, and it has a smoothie bar. Best gym I have ever been a member of!

  • Daniel Wulz

Good gym, but be prepared to pay for four months of service if you cancel your membership or move away. Called to cancel in January, and kept getting billed because they couldn’t find me in the system and couldn’t find my card on file, even though it kept getting charged. No offer for a refund or to compensate for the oversight.

  • Elizabeth Fowler

Love this gym, has 3 huge areas and all of the equipment I could possibly need/want. Very nice administrative people and I like the members. I finally feel at home. My only concern is the the cleaning crew... is there one? That being said, I am definately going to join as soon as I get back from my work travel next month.

OG is a rare place. The owners and staff care tremendously about their culture, atmosphere and equipment. They have everything you need, staff is always cleaning the place, I did a full show prep in OG! No lack of equipment, any breakdowns they get on it immediately, I can’t thank Vince, Nick, Joe and Brent enough!

  • L L

This used to be the best gym in KC but has gone downhill so much. Most of the new staff doesn't care and never cleans, the whole place is really dirty, machines are always broken, the bathrooms rarely get cleaned, and they raised the price after installing a sauna that is usually too dirty and crowded to even use.

  • C Lilakos

Very impressive space and great gym culture. Drop in for the week was $35. That gets you access to a ton of functional equipment, platforms, racks, turf, cardio, and cable machines. The staff was friendly, as were the regular members. It was a great space to train while away for work. Highly recommended!

  • Alexander “foodie” Williams

Michael is amazing!!! knows everyones name that walks in. vince the owner is super cool and easy to talk to. great mix of bodybuilding and powerlifting equipment. Cardio and Hiit trainging equipment throughout.. heavy bag ( my favorite) All skill levels train here!! dont be intimidated.

  • Carson Oetting

Everything about this gym is phenomenal! The members are all very friendly and supportive, they have equipment to cater to virtually any training style, and that staff is very helpful and knowledgeable! I travel a little ways to get to this gym and it’s worth every second of the drive!

  • Ryan Lozano

Fantastic gym. Way more squat racks and dumbbells than you're probably used to and a lot more people willing to let you work in - which I have found is uncommon elsewhere. The 24 hour access is something you may not think you'd use, but believe me it is amazing

  • Tony J

Wonderful gym with 24/7 access and lot of free weights.Only complaint would be some members that superset during peak hours in the morning and evening. This prevents other people from using those machines.Maybe the management should kick these people out.

  • Corbin Stonum

Amazing environment, great people and great employees, the people care about others. There’s a worker in there, I think his name is Jake but anyway he is incredibly friendly and will give you tips on form to help you become better.

  • Brian Oleson

Easily one of the best gyms I've ever seen. It has everything a serious strength athlete needs: Olympic lifting platforms, multiple power racks, Texas Powerlifting bars of every kind, and even two Thompson fat pads for benching.

  • muhammad aziz

It’s hidden gym for serious workout people . It’s in one of the back area of the strip mall . They have heavy lifting , weight lifting , cardio almost everything . bathrooms need some updates . Great place for getting pumped

  • Tanner Loveall

Hands down my favorite gym in Kansas City, best prices, all of the equipment you could possibly think of, a staff that is actually friendly. Would totally recommend if you’re looking for a great gym to put in work. 6/5

  • Markel Douglas

The dopest gym in KC! Nice and clean facility, always keeping equipment fresh and the staff are the coolest. Open 24 hrs! You will not regret this membership. Will only workout at OGKC when I come back to visit.

  • Josh Przybylski

Been coming here for years. Through a couple of different management changes they've maintained the friendly and helpful atmosphere that's great for both gym newcomers and veterans.

  • Cody

It separates the workout machines and weights in 3 different rooms making it convenient for you to get the workout you want done without waiting on anything.

  • Miranda Keeler

Clean gym with many different ‘areas’ to train in with functional and cross training possibilities. Will definitely drop in again when visiting town!

  • D24_57

  • Darwin Vasquez

  • Soraya Velten

Great gym for serious lifters. All the equipment you'd look for in a lifting gym and a great cardio choice as well.

  • William Foster

Cancelled a distinguished services member’s membership without notice. Just days after paying! This is outrageous.

  • Jordan Richards

Love it, the whole place is set up to get strong or big, not to fill up your IG or watch TV while lifting weights.

  • Jarrod Drury

Best gym I've been too. Pro military and first responder, and they make protein shakes at the front counter …
