To avoid further implications I am choosing not to reveal my real name. Due to a lack of training on OneUnited’s end, I was given in correct information. The bank does NOT accept 3rd party checks. My stimulus payment was issued to my partner and combined both on the same check because I was a dependent that year. long story short, it’s been nearly a month and 1/2 and the funds are still being held by the bank. The status went from being avail in 2 days to in 7 business days after the initial deposit, to waiting on a copy of the check and would after be mailing in back in 10-14 days to the hold will be released in November! NOVEMBER!!!! Finally, after many calls to the bank, we received an email stating they were now requesting a notarized statement indicating I was authorized to negotiate those funds and it was endorsed accordingly. Mind you, this was something I presented as a solution weeks ago but it was rejected by the bank and was told to wait. The waiting caused me to lose my car to auction because the bank would not work with me in a timely manner. The delays have been unreasonable and nobody knows anything or has any ability to assist because what is referred to as the back office are the ones who can but nobody can ever reach them and they are seemingly operating without any regard or responsibility to the accounts they are making decisions about. If someone has the authority to freeze your funds, that person should be accountable to resolving in a reasonable amount of time or communicate status and provide the customer with some information. I have sustained not just financial stress and hardship over this but have incurred financial loss because a phantom department is not concerned about helping a customer with a resolvable issue but rather seem to let time pass and neglect their due diligence to support their customers by being solution orientated and committed to mitigating resolution. This never needed to take this long. I have been begging for them to help me and have responded quickly and done like they’ve asked and waited. I’m still waiting. They have had the notarized statement and authorization from the check holder requesting those funds be made available to me and yet, another day passes and it’s unresolved because it’s under review. WTH, this nightmare doesn’t add up I’m shaking my head wondering why the bank would delay or choose not to be responsive and assist with resolution knowing the vehicle I use for my children and to get to work is at stake. OneUnited failed my family. They completely contradicted their own mission statement in their actions in handling this situation. I would caution anyone to not put all their eggs in this basket. Don’t do that to yourself. Maybe consider this as a backup account and then decide if you want them having this kind of control over your money. maybe your experience will be different or has been different. I hope that’s the case because I wouldn’t wish this for anyone. I don’t do reviews but maybe my story can help others in some way. Bank black but use caution and have them earn your business and trust. Don’t offer it blindly like I did. I’m still enduring stress, hardship, and loss because this continues to be unresolved. Can’t help but feel like there are some inner issues and staff needs be held to doing the job they say they do. I’m not seeing it. I hope this changes. This can be a beautiful thing if they would stop with ugly bs.

Very bad customer service. I requested by internet a secure credit card on Feb. 2014, everything was fine. They took from my checking account $500 to deposit on March 12 2014, I received the card by mail and I called to activate the card but when I try to use the card was declined. Here started the problems. I called to the phone number that is behind to the card and they told me they can see the card was activated by phone for me but was cancelled for the bank but they can't help me only they can give me a new phone number. I called this new phone number and they told me my bank (wells fargo) from I put the deposit block the funds, they told me you need call your bank and explain this, they need release the funds. I don't believed this but I call to my bank and they said of course, that is incorrect. I called again to one united bank, after a very difficult messages, push #3, push #9 etc, etc. They told me they can't help me, I they try to give a new phone number and I tell him if you can't help me to activate the card then I want to cancel the card and my money back and they supposedly cancel everything and told me I will receive a deposit back on my checking account from $461 Because $39 Dollars fee. I tell him I don't want to pay nothing and they told me was my fault because I canceled the card. Next day I call again hoping can talk with a different person and I explained about this and he said the same: Was your fault for cancel but is fine I am going to remove the fee I you will receive a check by mail for $500 in three weeks. (new version, by mail) After 4 weeks I don't received the check and I called to ask about the status this was already May 2014 and they told me we said three weeks but after we finished the process and we finish this on May 12nd then I will receive the check on June 9th. I never receive the check, on june 17 I call and now they told me the card never was cancel because I need to do this by a writing letter and send by fax, the same day July 17 I sent the letter and they never send me the check I call to ask and they said the check was lost and they going to send me a new one, on July 23 finally after four and half months I received the check. The mainly problem is the time that is necessary to talk with somebody from customer service, when you finally can talk with a person they don't know nothing, they need to transfer the call or give you a new phone number sometimes I called to Miami or Los Angeles, there are four hours difference that is a big problem too. I don't wrote everything that happened, this is a summary I called many times and they told me different versions, I honestly thought I would receive no money. Thanks for Nancy she help me a lot.

This review is about online banking only. I do not live in an area where they have physical locations so I opened a checking account online. The fraud department called me about a pending fraudulent charge on 11/03/2020. It was concluded that the charge was in fact a fraudulent charge and the representative canceled my debit card immediately without giving me any other options. Well 2 days later (11/05/2020) I had a negative balance with a overdraft fee due to the fraudulent charge. I had to call customer service to find out that the first representative canceled my debit card, issued me a new one to be mailed out but did not do a dispute for the fraudulent charge or fee. So the new representative did a dispute for the fraudulent charge and fee. My account was credited for the fraudulent charge but not the overdraft fee that came with the fraudulent charge. On 11/06/2020 I had to call customer service again and tell them to credit me for the fee as well. In addition to all of this, it is now 11/14/2020 and I have not received my debit card. I have not had access to any money since my debit was canceled on 11/03/2020. On 11/13/2020 I called customer service about my new debit card that has not arrived yet. Customer service representative says I may not receive my card in the mail until 11/18/2020 and they have no options for me to get cash right away. This is very alarming and has caused financial distress since THIS IS MY ONLY BANK. I am a single mother of 3 children with a full time job and I do not work from home. I haven't been able to access any money for almost 2 weeks. I can't pay my babysitter, I can't put gas in my car to get to work, I don't receive public assistance so I can't provide my children with any food. I tried western union and that won't go through. I tried cash app but the bank won't approve the transaction without a debit card. I've been financially struggling since my card was canceled. This is so horrible especially with having small children to feed. My kids have been starving!! There is no reason why I wasn't given an option for expedited shipment of my card. I wouldn't recommend anybody use them as a primary bank if they don't live near a physical location.

I wish I was here to leave a better review unfortunately I have had extremely bad experiences with the branch manager at this location, Sandra. Back in May I went into the branch to open a business checking and savings account and was blatantly discouraged and verbally told to open an account elsewhere. Sandra sent me away multiple times insisting I needed DBA, ein, and business license, and even after returning with everything she asked for she still refused to open the account for me. Earlier this month I opened a youth savings for my toddler and the banker was extremely helpful and registered me for online access to view my balances. When attempting to go back to make sure my teenagers youth savings account was also on my online banking Sandra insisted youth savings accounts should not be accessible online regardless of the fact that this is MY money going in and out of the account. Sandra was caught in multiple lies as she claimed youth savings accounts were not accessible to the online platform, when they clearly are because my toddler's account was there. And at the end of it all sent me away saying she was also going to remove my toddler's account from my online banking. This is absolutely ridiculous! I should be able to check the balances on the accounts that I am putting money in and out of, it is more than a reasonable request to be provided with the access necessary to manage my money. That's LITERALLY what banks are for! I feel like Sandra is purposely sabotaging the bank black movement at this One United Crenshaw location as she is the only non black member of the staff, yet somehow the branch manager. I bank with one United because I believe in the bank black movement and want to see us progress as a people. I don't appreciate seeing a non-black manager purposely sabotage this movement. Upper management needs to get involved immediately before she runs away all your clientele. Edit: I logged on to see if her father deposited money and sure enough the account has been removed from my online platform. Ridiculous!! My hand is being forced to bank elsewhere. Good job Sandra!

I was really excited to bank with a black bank. Unfortunately, There are many draw backs and it’s important to know. #1 When you open an account for the first month they hold all your checks for 9 business days. (That’s when you go in to deposit). Even small checks. #2 When depositing a check via app. You need to write for mobile deposit only. They don’t tell you that on the app so you will find your check rejected. Check your app to see if check is rejected because you do not get an email. #3 The amount you can deposit via app is 1500 or less. If more you have to go Into the location. #4. After the month is over and you deposit a check less than $1500 via the app it first needs to be accepted. Then there may be a possible hold. You have to check on your computer for that I formation. The app will not tell you. My Check was accepted on the 19th and will not be available until the 26. 7 day hold. Customer service emailed me a letter on stipulations on depositing checks through the mobile app. (I also got a letter when my check was rejected for not writing for mobile deposit only OneUnited Bank.) Banking with OUB may be problematic if you need the money to pay for things. If you are fortunate to wait for days to have a check clear, all is well and be proud to bank with a black bank. I’m not sure this will be viable for me and my business account. The checks that came in are from the same company which should tell them that the checks are good. Oh what to do ?

I feel so bad about leaving this negative review but no one at the bank seemed to be able to assist me, until today. Thank you Liz. You are the reason they received an extra star.... However, I opened this account and a cd, to “support black banks” (and to get the Harriet Tubman Wakanda debit card). I have had representatives hang up on me because they didn’t like the questions I asked and now the account I opened has become negative due to “maintenance fees”. I don’t use the account so the money I put in there is just gone. Then I received a notice saying I would be reported delinquent if I did not bring the account back positive! They stole my money and then threatened to ruin my credit. It’s so ludicrous, I have to laugh. I was then told that to close the account, I would have to bring the account to 0. I transferred the $15 from my bank and agreed to pay the fee from my bank only to discover One United charged a $10 fee to receive it and my account was STILL $10 negative . So, per their recommendation, I used the atm locator and found one at 7-11 to deposit the cash. There is no way to deposit cash there! Thank God Liz was helpful and refunded the charge and closed my account. Too bad I didn’t speak to her sooner. I’m leaving the $500 cd but I can’t lie. I’m worried I’ll never see it again.

I went this morning to One United Bank to inquire about opening a business bank account and I was quite frankly surprised by how I was told by the woman in charge that I had to come back when I have all my DBA paper published... I don’t want to make a fuss over not much but I’d assumed that when you come to inquire about opening a business bank account the bank Staff would acknowledge you and/or at least pretend to show interest in your business. I don’t like to discuss my business with a counselor in the middle of the line surrounding by people and so I left with my questions ... disappointed. I went right away to another bank for the exact same inquiry and I was greeted very differently. I was ask to explain the type of business I was running. I had a lot of question that were all answered ... Based on what I told them they presented to me the different options for banking account, also presented the different options for payment terminal and even how I could plug in my QuickBooks with my banking interface ... I was given a business card with the name of the counselor that I can basically reach anytime before our next meeting. And the overall meeting did last 15 min. Efficient and pleasant ! Now I need to do obvious thinking on who I want to partner with to open my future business... :-( Who is supporting who ?

I paid a kid that I raised rent from my debit card on a Saturday, the website said if you delete the card while payment is pending the transaction, would not complete. Sunday, and then Monday the transaction still said pending. Monday while I’m working I get three alerts my card had been charged $985.00, $985.00, $985.00, $985.00 I contacted the bank to be placed on hold literally 1.5 hours. After getting off work the bank of course was closed. I stayed home the next day still no help. I contacted the apartment and they started to help they charged all three of the extra transactions back to me. About 2 months later I get a dispute letter in the mail I fill out all pages with a police report of unauthorized charges/fraud in January 2020. The girl has since moved out the apartment living in another state. My bank black owned bank on 10/2/2020 contacted me after going over the papers and a very lengthy call the customer service rep said “you raised her she’s your daughter it’s just a little over $4,000.00.” 10/10/2020 I received a letter saying the child one the dispute and the funds will be removed from my account 10/19/2020 by the end of day.

I have been banking with them since 2016 & have always had a positive experience...but since 2020 & everyone's rush to support black owned businesses, I don't know if the company has gotten overwhelmed or what, but service has been horrible. I've even referred friends and family who have come back to me and told me what a bad experience they had, which made me feel horrible. My debit card expired in March, I called a week before the end of the month because I hadn't received a new one. The rep told me the system knows and the card is in the mail. Here it is April 5th & I have yet to see my card. I call today and the rep tells me she believes it was lost in the mail, so she canceled that card and said I'll receive a new one in 7-10 businesses days!!!!! I asked if it can be expedited and she tells me it's a 3 day request and a $50 fee! My money is tied up in an account I can't access because they have no branches in TX, and y'all want to charge me for something I tried to prevent/isn't mt fault. I'm really disappointed nothing was done to accommodate me as a loyal customer, considering the circumstances.

Don’t feel valued as a customer and made to feel like I had to beg for my own money when needed, did a wire transfer on line, waited for the wire to be approved, received email wire was approved, called to ensure the wire was approved, received email wanting more documents sent to One United Bank before wire actually goes through, called to question the situation, couldn’t get any resolve… I opened the account in the attempt to support Bank Black however I will be closing my account because I don’t feel like I should have to fight to receive my own money when needed after you’ve confirmed whom I am through your security questions and me actually driving two hours to see them in person… I really felt like the people were trying to sabotage the Bank Black by the way they were treating me, I really wanted to support the Bank Black initiative however it didn’t work out for me… Update I still do direct deposits monthly to support I can’t give up on them that easily …

09/16/2021- At least 5 to 6 times in the last month, I tried to make a purchase online, and my debit card declined when there was more than enough money in my account. Today like so many others, I call customer care, and they state that the fraud department has a hold on my card and transferred me to the fraud services; fraud services state the issue is with the account, and then I have to call customer care again. This dog and pony show is very irritating, to say the least, and embarrassing. But Today, a special kind of customer service professional, and I use professional loosely. LOURDES ... was rude, pretentious, condescending, and was all but helpful. Usually, when I call in, I speak with a polite young woman named Ebony, who is always respectful, cheerful, and empathetic to my concerns. If this issue continues, I will be forced to close my account and bank somewhere else, especially if I have to call customer service and speaks with Lourdes again.

  • Eazzyy

I've been attempting to settle a dispute through OneUnited bank for close to two months and during the time I was trying to resolve the complaint it was very difficult to reach anyone with whom to discuss my situation. On the occasion when I was able to speak to someone they hung up on me and other times they didn't pick up the phone at all when I would call. The worst thing was they kept changing who was in charge of disputes. I had to file a complaint on two occasions with the BBB before I was able to receive a call back. They incorrectly label fraudulent charges as quality control so they can easily rid themselves of the complaint. They are extremely unprofessional, unorganized and rude. Stay far away from this bank. They claim they are for the progression of the black community but have proved numerous times the opposite. If I could give zero stars I would. I've also contacted numerous agencies and reported this bank.

Customer phone service is no help and will mislead you ... Was told a pending electronic direct deposit will be available next day .. To no surprise its not available when the day comes .. Fund Availability Disclosure States: For All Customers: Immediate Availability Electronic direct deposits will be available on the day we receive the deposit (example: social security benefits and payroll payments). For determining the availability of your deposits, every day is a business day, except Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. If you make a deposit before 5:00 PM EST (at a OneUnited Bank owned ATM) on a business day that we are open, we will consider that day to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a deposit after 5:00 PM EST (at a OneUnited Bank owned ATM) or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day we are open.

I wanted to open an account with them to bank black and support the cause. When I walked in I saw a sign that said visitors need a visitor pass from the customer service desk. I go to the desk and a man working there was texting on his phone. I kindly try to ask him if this was the customer service desk and he rudely tells me to "get back in line" like I was a child. Strike 1. I walked away and went inside the bank and saw they had a clipboard for people who want to open accounts but they had no pens. A nice old lady in line informs me that they don't have pens you have to bring your own. Strike 2. Then I try to see if I can talk to someone at one of the desks about opening an account and I hear one of the workers cussing out an old lady. Strike 3. I left. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior at a bank in my life. I wanted to support the cause, but they are not it.

  • tajai marshall

Absolutely horrible. Just plain horrible, and unprofessional. I live in Las Vegas. First issue, when I joined the bank I requested the atm card, but they did not send it out. So i has to drive allllllll the way to the Crenshaw location to withdraw my funds. Second, while I was there I asked the teller if it was true that I could get my automatic deposit 2 days earlier like the current bank I had. She responded “absolutely”. Now here it is 2 days before the date of my payday. The money is there, but they won’t release it until Friday. I have been put on hold, passed around, and disconnected waiting to hear from the branch manager Sierra Elias, which I have not heard from, won’t return my calls, and when she called back she left no message. Please don’t bank black. Just stay right white and where you’re at. At least they won’t play with your money.

  • Kymberly Lyles

They have a lot of things they need to improve. My husband and I have had an account since August and we still haven't received a debit card which leaves us with no access to our money. When we called in September we were told a card will be expedited immediately and they were, or what I assumed rather, empathetic and apologetic but in the end we never receive a card. It is now October and we were given the same apology, along with the same promise of an expedited card. We called back seeing the card would have been received by now and nothing had been processed. I really wanted this bank to work, I wanted to support a black bank because in my mind it is the best way to circulate the black dollar, but unfortunately at this point it has not reached the professional stature to provide their customers with a secured peace of mind with their money.

I've been meaning to write this review for over a year. I love this bank and branch. Walking into the bank I am always greeted by security. Yes the majority of the time there is a long line (like every other bank) but it does move. Now calling customer service is a different story. No one is held accountable for anything. You can call there about the same thing several different times and get several different answers! Plus a nasty attitude!!! I don't get it. They need training!! It's to the point where I just rather go into the bank and deal with them directly. However, Vanessa is my favorite teller!!!!! She's always so pleasant and professional. And that makes up for everything else. I will continue to bank with them because of her and the lady that sits in the corner office. (I forgot her name sorry). Thank you to those 2 people

Ashley provided me superior customer service yesterday when I was making payment to my landlord for the first time ever in my life. She presented me with the options available to me and told me the merits of both and was very patient with me as I considered my options. I opted for two money orders and she was very professional, balancing careful concentration and customer service in a way I appreciate. This was my first experience with a OneUnited Branch outside of starting my account and I am happy to have had a safe, accurate, and pleasant encounter. I hope Ashley finds satisfaction working with OneUnited and I look forward to seeing her again! I'm unsure if these get read to employees, but I pray that OneUnited acknowledges all the people working hard to keep us safe and keep our communities running smoothly at this time.

When and if OneUnited Bank is serious regarding the attraction of BLACK BUSINESS OWNERS AND PROFESSIONALS, I STRONGLY suggest TOP EXECUTIVES HAVE A BRAIN STORMING SESSIONS to fix the problems with POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Consider shopping around for a FIRST RATE NATIONWIDE telephone answering system that makes inquiry regarding the caller participating in a short SURVEY to get FEEDBACK regarding the customer's experience. In October 2020 or one year ago I closed my OneUnited Bank as a result of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Here it is a year later, October 2021, I opened a Debit Card acount and I'm still unable to get a call back or speak with a CUSTOMER SERVICE REP! You can and must do better. EMF, CALIFORNIA.

Do not bank with them. They are not for the black community as they promise to be. They practice predatory banking , have excessive fee. Mind you each time I accrued a fee was due to the way they set bank deposit up to clear after transactions. The worst customer service, even the employees who work over the phones sound like they don't want to be there. I'm mean they really blocked me on Twitter, because I expressed how I felt. Out of all the banks I've done business with they have been the worst. I've closed my account at this point even then the woman I was working with to close it didn't care she just wanted to get me off the phone. Save yourself the headache. All skin folk ain't kinfolk.

  • t akinstou (E-Nebula)

I'll try , most of the bad reviews seem to be from people who use this bank as their main bank, and i don't even plan to do that. I plan to keep my other bank and use this one strictly for savings for the future. The fact that it is limited and small is a plus for me because it just encourages a saving habit. I would advise others to do the same. and maybe stock purchasing if they do that. Update I will have to give this bank 1 star. I can not in good conscience give this bank 5 stars. There mortgage lending is a lie and they do not recycle community dollars (which they advertise to do) just based on there hiring. Unfortunate, but something is definitely not right internally with this bank.

  • Uniquee Faces

Do I have to give them any stars? Because when i say this is poor work from my people this is poor customer service, poor banking services meaning, no temporary debit cards, if your card has been stolen and used they make you wait 2 weeks for them to put the money back, they don't help when it comes to money emergencies and you have the funds in your account, and its MY MONEY ! i don't recommend this bank to any one specially if you are a young adult they close early only have a few locations not open on weekends and the atm is super wack if you deposit your money in the atm it will not be available to you as soon as possible. you have to wait until they open and make all the deposits!!!!

  • Ishia

For the most part, it does what I need. I gave it 3 stars because it’s an average bank. When I speak with representatives they are professional and friendly. I don’t live local to a back so I use mobile deposits often, never had an issue. Been with them for 2 years. The operation hours are inconvenient so I have to remind myself to call in the morning. They keep blocking my debit card, I was overdrawn by $4,05 for a week and when I called to fix it, they had to cancel my card and I had to wait 7 days for a new one. Overall, they are average. I enjoy banking here for what I need. It’s not my main bank because of the inconvenience but I’ll be a forever customer.

  • Kiki Brown

They forever have an attitude when you call. Update 3/19/18 So I made the poor choice of getting a credit card from them. For one the Heffa who answered the phone needs another job because customer service clearly isn't for her. She sounded like some ghetto hood rat. She was rude and had your classic black woman who doesn't want to be at work tone. They are making me wait 8 days to use my credit card again after I paid it. So I'm sure I will be getting another card from a real bank . Do not bank black. It's a bunch of crabs in a barrel. There are no financial literacy classes. They aren't here to help. Just a bunch of folks who need a job.

  • Tranisia Frank

I moved my bank trying to be apart of the black movement and it was the worse thing I could do for my money!!!!! the fact I can’t access my own money on the weekend and they aren’t open to find out why I can’t use my own money that I worked very hard to get is unprofessional!!!! I will be moving my money right back over to the White owned banks where customer service is 24/7 and they don’t put holds on your debt card when using... you don’t have to drive 90 miles one way to get more than $500 out the ATM!!! My bills are more THAN a $1000 a month!!!! DO NOT I repeat DO NOT EVER EVER BANK HERE if you want ACCESS TO YOUR OWN MONEY!!!!!!

  • Jessica Powell

This is the worst bank ever in life. I just closed out my account with them. The customer service is awful. They have no retention recourse. I have no reason to Bank Black when Black is the term to just scam others who would like to be loyal out of their money. I've banked with Centris for years and not one issue. This bank is slow for information and when you email them they just throw out Truth n Lending disclosures. This is why Black people don't support Black business. I also enclosed a photo of the janky close account confirmation.Do not contact me about my review. Just do better for the next person.

  • Thatgurlblue

Wanted to support so I opened up a savings account. I did not like the customer service when I called several times for someone to assist me with my online account. When I wanted to close my account I was told once my account reaches zero balance to call and and close it. I called to cancel when my account hit zero and the person told me that they processed my request and that my account was closed.Today almost a month later I received a letter stating my account is overdrawn due to insufficient funds. Not happy with my experience (hopefully my account is closed for real after this second time)

  • pat jaxxson

I've been a customer at this bank for over a year now. I've been pleased with the bank and there service. No problems until you need to get another debit card. Can you explain why it takes 3 weeks to get another dam card this is totally unacceptable. Especially if you are banking online. There is no other way to access my money but buy debit card. I have to drive 60 miles to get money if I need cash since they don't offer a expedited service to get ur debit card. So I going to drive over 120 miles round-trip so I can eat. No worries thanks for making my decision easy to no longer bank black.

  • E M.

Even though it may take a hit to my credit score, I’m going to cancel my Unity Visa. The hassle is not worth it. Other credit card companies have an easy to use app. Sign in with facial recognition, set up auto pay and you’re done. Here it’s a hassle to sign in and there’s no autopay. When you call they send you back and forth in a circle between Unity Visa and One United. I just found out there’s a speedpay that works if you get it by 5pm EST. And that’s when you remember to pay it. There’s no reason for this company to be so far behind.

  • Melvin BB Grant

First impression was where’s the black peoples that I expected to be working with and supporting? Most weren’t black & obviously posing as black when they were confronted to the fact. So I asked to speak to the manager whom turned out to be non-black and a liar, as she is obviously not of African decent. Was my first time in the branch on Crenshaw in Los Angeles, because I opened my account online, but was unable to open a business account online, and apparently no credit card accounts are available. Great service!!! I've traveled to Turkey and India using OneUnited and had no problems making purchases, securing hotels or withdrawing from foreign ATM'S. They even secured me during my travels to make sure there were no fraudulent purchases against my card. I'm not sure what the bad reviews are about, but I've received nothing but professional service and quick resolution to any problem I may have had. Banking Black is one of the best decisions I've made with my money. Thanks OneUnited!

  • Kulture Prodigy

Worst bank ever. Tried to give it a chance due to it being black owned. Worst experience I’ve ever had. They closed my account due to charges. No explanation no reasoning behind it. Days later I log on to get statements and there not there. I call into the customer service and they say they will charge me 6 dollars to send statements. I will be contacting the BBB as well as FDIC. I even received a debit card after they closed my account. Like what type of third world company is this.

  • Bryan Langston

This bank is an absolute joke. It is virtually impossible to speak with anyone to resolve issues that can’t be fixed via their automated system. I deposited two checks with all the appropriate endorsements and they were deleted twice because the deposit administrator claims I didn’t include the mobile deposit confirmation that was clearly printed on both checks. I’m just glad I never transferred the bulk of my finances from Citibank and HSBC. I have since closed my OU accounts.

  • Destinee Marie

SCAMMERS!!!! THEY PUT AN OVERDRAFT FEATURE ON MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION AND WAS CHARGING MY OVERDRAFT FEES WITH MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT!!! I DIDNT THINK NOTHING OF IT BECAUSE WHEN I CHECKED MY ACCOUNT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL, months later they were sending me overdraft letters in the mail and when I reached out they didn’t do anything about it and CLOSED OUT MY ACCOUNT!! Now they CLAIM I OWE THEM 243 dollars and now I can’t open an account anywhere because of them!!!!

  • K. R.

I was happy to support a black owned bank, however, they really need to get up to par with other banks. Every time I call, I am on hold for more than 20 minutes. This never happened with BOA. In addition, the option to deposit money should be available at ATMs and not just the option for withdrawals. Not all deposits are in a check form. I am 50+ miles from a branch so this is a huge inconvenience. I am considering going back to my old bank. Please get it together OUB.

  • Tameika Brown

I wish I could give them negative stars. None of the departments communicate with each other. I have had an open dispute with this bank, my bank, for 2 months. I receive a letter more than a week ago stating that my dispute has been resolved and the money is back on my account. But it's not. I have been calling and getting nothing but the run around from them. It's ridiculous. You shouldn't play with people's money and call yourself better than all the other banks.

  • Aviva Love

Quite literally the worst bank I've ever dealt with and I've even banked with Bank of America. They are really dishonest will give you the incorrect information whih will affect you and you only. When you attempt to get them to right their wrong they will shrug and say "no one here can help you" or advise they will send you to collections if you don't pay for their mistake. Be veary weary of this bank- definitely bank elsewhere

  • Devin Roberson

Worse experience ever even if you give them a chance it somehow ends up a bad decision they have no customer service on weekends there is only one bank location and they take forever to get you replacement cards I will never use this bank again and will be closing all my accounts I never use the word hate but this bank has the been the worst experience of my life I hate dealing with them and wish I never opened an account !

  • Gum gum

Okay I thought they were good but no I drove all the way from oc called and confirmed that I can cash my check and then deposit it in a account they said yes I can do it I drive a HOUR FOR THIS SO CALLED FANTASTIC BANK they tell me hey your check won't be cleared for 2 weeks my next pay period I'm over this I gave them almost year I can't deal im canceling this account I completely hate it took a damn week to clear 700

  • Janice Williams

This bank has too many inconveniences, if you need your Damaged card replaced they will shut down your account and you can't have access to your money,And who knows when you will get a cardAnd I also believe that they will charge you for a replacement card. This is almost made me regret banking Black.if you make a mobile deposit they hold your money for 5 days or more!!!!

  • Smooth Harris

Having a business and personal account with this bank has be the most limited service I've experienced from wire transfer taking over 24 hrs in a business day to having a spending limit of 500.00 yes Five hundred dollars from a business account... Buy back the block... Thank God I kept my other accounts open before dropping the ball with what seem like a custodial account

  • Julia Sumarokova

My friend wanted to cash her check, she was told that only citizens could do so. She has a passport of foreign country and credit card of bank of America. Really, this is the first bank we've ever met in America with such rules! ! I know a lot of people who cashed there checks in banks and they didn't have an American passport. What the discrimination?

  • Everardo Garcia

This is by far the worst bank. They cancel the account without letting you know, customer service transfers you in circles until you hang up, take your payment even though the account is cancelled and it sounds like nobody is authorized to do anything but transfer you. DO NOT GO TO THIS BANK SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY LOOK ELSE WHERE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

  • Tia Bria

This is the WORSE BANK EVER DO NOT BANK HERE!!!! They hang up your call when they cannot assist you and when your account is compromised they do NOTHING to help you get your money back nor do they expedite your claim to get your funds back. They have so many 3rd party entities they barely know what is going on! I WILL NEVER BANK BLACK AGAIN

  • BeABeliever InLove

2 1/2 are waaay too much credit for this bank in this month- 2 stars at best. customer service agents have seemed to decline in basic intelligence/common sense...perhaps wiser supervisors need to be advanced to supervisory positions and/or hire outside help. before my God i'm about to take my few playing chips and go play somewhere else.

  • Ryan Lenett

This company's customer service process to resolve refund matters is horrible. I closed out a card and getting my money back in a refund took 2 months after excessive calls to them that I never received it and they repeatedly told me there is "nothing they can do" It took contacting the FDIC to resolve this matter which took 2 months.

  • Chevy Harris

The worst bank. I ordered checks and they sent them to the wrong address. Then I checked my account and they doubled charged me. Then the manager was too busy counting cash by hand, so I had to wait even longer for them to make a phone call to refund me the money. They still wanted to charge me the full amount after wasting my time.

  • CNJ Creations

Really wanted to go black owned with my bank, unfortunately there are too many areas where they drop the ball. Mainly in their communication and customer service. I truly want to be able to recommend this black owned bank but there are way too many issues. I hope they get it together. At this point I’m ready to close my account.

  • R H

Called the 1-800 number this morning just to get the pay off balance for my Visa, so I can close my account with this sham bank. You guessed it... automated service is off. This is the most basic service any bank offers. They can't even do that right. I will be cancelling and closing this account as soon as humanly possible!!

  • Diamon'ique Samon'e

Customer service was great , they always fixed my problem and stayed polite even thou sometimes I was rude and upset . The bank itself is not up to date , I found it hard to deposit money , the banks were closed at times convenient to me , and there was absolutely no one to talk to on weekends. This needs to be improved.

  • Bobby Stephens

This bank makes me don’t wanna bank Black. One of the worst banks I ever had.. Right now I can’t access my money and can’t talk to anyone until Monday to resolve it... this is the 5 th time this has happened.. Im over it and can not wait until this account closed! Thanks a lot so called Largest black bank...

  • Ayo Akinlabi

Worst bank ever taking advantage of black people. Folks beware this bank has delayed with no meaningful reasons multiple transfers of funds to other banking institutions accounts that I use to conduct my business. They don't want you to take your own money to do businesses. Do not bank with this bank!

  • RICKY ON DEMAND

The worst bank I've ever banked with, they never answer call literally hang up calls on hold every single time and the workers are just plain slow and lazy im always there for minimum of 1hr after closing my account they sent me to collections for 16$ closing fee that they failed to inform me about

  • Ashley Cardona

I’ve talked great about the bank to my friends, however, they are unwilling to refund $100 in overdraft fees which. Now, I’m closing the account. Where’s the privilege in being being charged $37 per transaction? I wish they’d had rejected the transactions instead of charging me all this money.

  • Carlito B

Worst Bank Ever, horrible customer service. I’m Denied access to my money and can’t get it resolved til Monday. $10 a month for maintenance and customer service can’t handle issues on a weekend. I would not recommend this Bank. Do not waste your money here, stick with Wells, Chase, & BOA. I

  • Judith Black

I’m trying to bank/buy black lately & with your institution I plan to achieve this gold & so far my experience with opening these accounts were extremely easy & love the mission statement… so yes I’m having a wonderful experience so far…! Let’s keep up the good work

  • Edna Reynolds

I contacted the incorrect department however your CSR still assisted me by reaching out to the area I needed rather than transfer me several times and I truly appreciate that. She was kind and understanding. This was my first time calling in and I am very satisfied

  • Sugarboat Long

Horrible Experience! I've been a customer for 10 years or more. I love the people, so, 1 star for them, but I absolutely HATE the service. If they say 7-10 days, expect 20-25. If they say 3-5 days, expect 10 to 15. How is it that a Money Order bounces? I tried.....

  • jacob mitchell

In 30 years as a mortgage broker, this is the most unprofessional bank we have ever worked with. It took YEARS to finally get ahold of the only loan officer, just for him to refuse our business for no good reason. We would suggest bringing your business elsewhere.

  • Lesly Bolaj

The woman who helped me was professional and courteous. She was very helpful in helping me select an account that would work for me. Before I came in I saw yelp reviews that were bad. I don't know who those people were dealing with but my experience was a dream

  • Sultan Akhtar

I wasn’t given the option of transferring more to open other accounts and later found I would need to call in to change or “upgrade” the account. Other than that it was easy. Also there was some confusion about the card selection luckily I wanted the black card

  • Marcus Newton

When I called initially, I was being helped, but when the representative placed me on hold a second time, the call was disconnected. She was very professional and courteous. The second call back was handled professionally also, and my problem was taken care of

  • L T

I wouldn't dare go there if your on a time limit I waited an hour and thirty five mins to be moved from one seat to another to wait an additional twenty minutes to still not get a savings account open while being promised it won't take long and they apologies

  • Maria Banks

Your customer service rep, I think her name is Elizabeth, has been awesome. She has come up with quick solutions to my problem and seems to be knowledgeable about your best practices, policy and procedures. She is a great front line for your organization

  • Chanda Rae

Nothing but wonderful things to say about this bank. I joined several months ago, and have received nothing but professional, courteous service. I've had many accounts over the past 25 yrs. I would say this is my best experience overall so far.

  • Marco Bates

I had the most positive experience with your customer service banking representative yesterday. While I am recovering from an illness that over the past few years caused significant damage to my credit OneUnited Bank gave me a second chance

  • Kelley Norris

I love knowing that I'm supporting a Black owned financial institution in the footsteps of what was taken from us of Black Wallstreet. I enjoy the online capabilities and the continuous updates and improvements being made a the bank grows.

  • Edgar Ohito

Truly one of the worst banking experiences that tries to act like they are supportive of black people. Do not bank here or fall for their black celebrity marketing. This bank has the worst customer service and even worse banking practices.

  • J B

The teller was quick and courteous. The banks policies and response times are not as efficient as larger banks; looking forward to them updating their systems and consumer facing web apps to deliver as good online as they did in branch.

  • Kathy Oliver

They took my deposit, never sent me my card, took $5 each month until overdraft (still no card sent to me) then threatened my credit. I tried calling several times only to get error message on both 877 number and Crenshaw branch number.

  • Justin Keen

Opening my account was fairly fast and painless! It took less than five minutes to complete the app before I was approved with an account number. I definitely appreciate the speed of establishing my account with OneUnited! #BankBlack

  • Stan Dewald

The application process was simple and the app itself is very user friendly. I also searched for in-footprint locations and I was instantly provided several ATM/banking locations. It feels good banking with and supporting my people.

  • Ronin Batiste

What's taking sooooooo long for my card with my money to come in?? I missed out on a GREAT GURANTEED FINANCIAL INVESTMENT due to not having my bank card issued to me on the said date. This is HORRIBLE as a first customer.

  • Jennie Hansen

Manager and associate in training were very professional and well versed in their job duties. They made me feel welcomed. My experience was so positive that I informed some of my friends about OneUnited Bank.

  • Carola Henssler

The online process for applying for a checking account was easy and fast. I was looking for a black owned bank that I could invest my money into and I’m glad I found one. OneUnited Bank was an easy decision.

  • Barbara Ford

I really liked the place, the staff was very friendly, I was attended by Michelle and she was very nice, she solved all the doubts I had and is helping me with a family procedure, in short, a very good bank.

  • Gerald Hall

I am a disabled person...... who finds it very disturbing that banking here is sad I difficult to get help..... everything has to be done online.....I’ve received absolutely no results to my problem

  • Shaeveon 444

This bank gives me the blues in more ways than one. If you value your time, money, and energy avoid at all cost. What's the point of banking black if it's just going to be an ongoing headache?

  • Luke Camden

I gave 5 stars because I have had nothing but positive experiences ever since I began to explore the benefits and services that come along with joining the One United Black Banking movement.

  • Brian Sisk

Been banking with One United for a couple years now, and actually just signed up for Digital Passcode today (Apple Pay etc.). This bank has done well by me and are making improvements often.

  • Smooth Curry

I filed a dispute on my account about 3 week's ago and I still can't get a answer about why it's taking so long smh chase bank does the dispute the same day and give you a credit in 10hrs

  • Shanna Crawford

Come on y’all, why do 0 out of the 2 atms work? And the atm in the front looks like an atm from the liquor store, scratched up and tagged up you can barely see the screen. Bank at home.

  • Some Weeb

Please don't do business with this bank! Google search the reviews. They are stealing people's money! They block people from their accounts and a number of other shady practices.

  • Alexian Scruggs

The mobile app takes nine days to cash a paycheck why would anybody want to use this service I could have went to a check cashing place and have the money in my hand horrible

  • Sylvia Smith

  • Keesh Keesh (Ms.KeekeeReneee69)

Hmmmm as reading these comments with more negative than positive post this institution needs & must do better Asap. Before I open Any account. Good Luck One United Bank.

  • Cheyenne Banks

Don’t ever bank here!! If I could give them zero stars then I would. Tried to support a black business but these people are stealing their customers money. Scam artist!

  • Street Creatives: On The Backstage

This place is a mess. Customer service do not provide solutions to resolve issues. They simply try to rush you off the phone instead of understanding account issues.

  • Chef VeeVee

So far so good. The tellers are fast, friendly, and polite. I wish there were more branches but I prefer QUALITY vs. QUANTITY any day. Keep up th good work

  • Sedaka Brown

Staff is very friendly and welcoming every time I walk in. It feels like I'm just part of the family. The wait times are not bad either. Pretty fast.
