Osmania University is a public state universitylocated in Hyderabad, India, founded in 1918 with the help of chief architect of Mahbub Ali Khan – Nawab Sarwar Jung.  It was established and named after the seventh and last Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan. It is the third oldest university in southern India, and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely State of Hyderabad. It is the first Indian university to have Urdu as a medium of instruction. A plan to establish a university in Hyderabad state was initiated in 1884. Wilfred Sewen Blunt, a British educationist, prepared a proposal and presented it to the Nizam of Hyderabad on 24 January 1884. The official decree was issued on 17 August 1917 for the establishment of Osmania University. Inaugurated in 1918, the university has functioned since 28 August 1919, with an initial enrollment of 225 students. Within the first decade of its establishment, medicine and engineering faculties were started in 1927 and 1929, which were accredited throughout the Indian subcontinent. The university college for women was initiated in 1926, and in 1936 the arts college was started. The university was established to cater to modern, secular, cultural, Islamic and regional arts education, for which the medium of instruction was selected as Urdu and English as a compulsory language, making it the first university in the Indian subcontinent to provide education in native and Urdu language. The Translation Bureau and Publication section was formed, which collected foreign and regional language textbooks along with literature, sciences and other artworks from the world and translated them into the Urdu language. Moreover, in 1974, the Progressive Women's Organisation was formed in the University which championed women's rights across India especially in the urban sector

•Osmania University is named after its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad who rather through a farman or Royal Charter, brought the University into existence in 1917. It is the seventh oldest in the Country and third oldest in South India. •Though the need for the University for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government. Sir Hydari, in a memorandum to the Education Minister in Early 1917, emphasized the need to establish a University of Hyderabad with 'Urdu' as the medium of instruction "as it is the language of the widest currency in India, official language of the State, and it is a language which is understood by a vast majority of the population of the State." He believed that higher education must have its foundations deep in national consciousness.

Osmania University Masha Allah is very beautiful and Alhamdulillah it is more strong and historical than Aligarh University in building construction, most of the architecture is ancient style but Masha Allah the proper use of stones and beautiful carvings add to its beauty. There is a need for a better road and better lighting on them day and night, apart from providing benches for visitors to sit in each section, and the other important thing is to improve the public facilities in each place. Mapping tables and study tables should be kept spare. In this regard, I have written the campus guides with the details. Please use them.

  • AN Zama

All side Greenery which will make students mind calm. N a separate garden for students is also available. Separate hostels are also there for male n female with a good infrastructure. A dream come true place for a student.

  • red rose

I aimed to join this university, and when I called them, I was shocked of how rude and arrogant was the person who was talking to me! Instead of being nice to attract students to join, they present a terrible image of themselves. They way how they talk is like " so what if you will not join! Others will do it and join the university anyway". They even don't have WhatsApp numbers for inquiries, and if you will make international call, prepare yourself to loose the call balance. Very rude and disrespectful staff

  • Santosh Kiran Sulake

The infrastructure was good and the campus is very vast and has lush green cover which adds to its very positive sounding aura and is really impressive for a good fresh air breath, Though the infrastructure is not well maintained, but appreciate the age factor of the different structures with the main one being the oldest, Has placement opportunities with recruitment drives, has a good library. And has been doing well on various rankings like NIRF,etc.., Hope it helps

  • Sreehari Kondapalli

The infrastructure in the college is very good. The campus also has Wi-Fi. The Hostel facilities are very good and I like the food there very much. The canteen is also well maintained and tasty food is available every day. The good environment too. The canteen is also nice, and the medical facilities are good. Sports clubs are available here, and there is free space for outdoor sports like football, cricket, etc. There is a good library with books.

  • Surabhi Nadigotti

Osmania University, undoubtedly being the hotspot for sapiosexuals, also has a lot of active clubs- both technical and non - technical. There's never a dearth for good library sources. And not to miss, the pristine green trees are always there to refresh. But, if it were a gated university, ( a closed one ) it would be far better, as the safety of the hostels is on stake. Hopefully safety measures will be taken to guard the hostels.

  • LEAD AFFILIATES

“The university needs a vision,” he tells us in an exclusive chat at his office on campus. The agenda was released on July 31 and marks a slight shift from what was considered the status quo at the varsity, including the open campus setup; Prof Ravinder has closed multiple entry and exit points to the campus. In what he has termed “pro-student initiatives,” Aadhaar cards will now be linked to the hostels for biometric attendance.

First point i am not talking about the clg maintenance or the clg lecturers I am gonna talk about correction system 1.They fail students who study and pass those who copy 2.They fail many students and increase Revaluation price just so that they can earn more money absolute greed for money If this goes on continuing one fine day in this there will be a revolution no middle class family can bare this #wewantjustice #ABVP

  • K Rajeev

  • EmailUEW

Osmania University is very commercial now, they charge 200rupees for each semester memo for applying to transcripts, earlier it was 100rupees per semester memo, what a shame, they're simply looting money from hardworking parents, and I belong from a middle-class family. I'm requesting that Osmania University's administration kindly respond with your decision.
