I came here with high hopes and expectations due to the high rating but left truly disappointed. This restaurant has so much potential with its busy restaurant, cozy romantic setting, and unique menu. My partner and I came here last night to try it out, and the food was just bad & lacking a lot of flavor. We ordered their fritto misto, and crispy cauliflower for appetizers. The fritto misto came with fresh, hot marinara which is nice, but the fried calamari itself lacked in salt. There was 2 pieces of shrimp & 2 pieces of potato tempura that came with it. The crispy cauliflower like one of the reviewers said, was just horrible. We had 2-3 pieces total from the whole dish and didn’t want the rest. The taste was bad, the texture was bad, the sauce was bad. Just don’t get it, it’ll be a waste of money. We ordered their lemon soda which the waitress referred to as “lemonade” but I had to ask him if it was lemon soda then he said yes. Lemon soda and lemonade are not the same thing. I had to ask for clarification if there was going to be carbon in this “lemonade” he said yes so i said so it’s the lemon soda. Anyways their soft drinks were probably the best part of the meal, blood orange soda and lemon soda are both fresh and good. When we were ready to order I let the caucasian waiter with dark facial hair know we were ready and he just gave me a blank stare, and I just brushed it off and just told him what we wanted to order. There was also another weird thing we experienced, while we were still eating the appetizers, the waiter came and asked to take our plates, we were almost done but we just said ok thinking our entrees will be replaced right after however that didn’t happen. After about 5-10 more minutes were our entrees served. For our entrees we ordered the lobster pasta and the linguine vangole. Both pastas came undercooked, but the linguine vangole was more undercooked that it was inedible, I let the staff know and they took it back and asked if we want something else or the same thing, we said same thing. They took about 10-15 mins to recook the same pasta dish we sent back. It came back with broken clam shells in the dish and the clams were already out of the clam shells so the chefs should’ve removed the clam shells, there was a broken piece in there that could’ve became a choking hazard. We were pretty disappointed we didn’t want anything else from here anymore, so we didn’t order dessert. At the end, we got our check with a brunch offer card, I’m not sure if every customer got this but I feel like they knew we weren’t content with our experience last night and tried to make up for it with this offer. But I wouldn’t come back again.

Absolutely phenomenal. We tried it out for the first time as a potentially nice brunch spot (and we’ll be back for dinner next time). The service was impeccable and friendly. The food? FANTASTIC! We started with the crispy cauliflower: well-seasoned and the paprika sauce has a hint of zest that complements the subtle seasoning of the tempura batter. For our mains, we ordered the Truffle Ricotta Toast and the Paccheri pasta. The pasta was cooked al-dente with one of the most fragrant (of fresh basil) and fresh sauces we’ve ever had. The portion size was a proper size and not an American supersize. The sauce was well-seasoned with not-too sweet tomatoes, making it a gorgeous and savory dish. The burrata was very light and the perfect texture and consistency when many burratas are too salty and chewy, pairing well with the sauce base. The winner of this meal is easily the truffle toast. The truffles were fresh and the ricotta was a local and slightly sweet variety. We were surprised at how well it paired with the truffles that almost come across as garlicky. Balance was maintained and the flavors were a medley in one’s mouth. The portion size, again, is perfect for us, as we both ate one of the two toast slices. This is a must-try restaurant for brunch and at this rate, most definitely dinner as well. We ended with a Tiramisu for dessert, recommended by our server and lauded by many reviews online. It was indeed quite delectable: the perfect sweetness and it was light and airy. For a tiramisu, this is high quality.

Wow… just wow. Osteria 57 was INCREDIBLE! My wife and I came for brunch and absolutely loved it. Dario, the head of the restaurant came and chatted with us a bit, here’s what we learned/ my impressions: 1. All of the food from Osteria 57 is pescatarian and seasonal. The menu changes year round based on what’s available at high quality. 2. All of the fruits and vegetables are locally sourced from organic farms. The seafood is all caught by local fisherman. They were particularly proud of their five different types of cherry tomatoes 3. THE WATERMELON SALAD!! Omg!! 4. ALSO THE TRULLE RICOTTA TOAST!! Wow!! 5. You can taste the freshness. And it leaves you not feeling heavy. Sometimes you eat somewhere and it makes you feel heavy and bloated. Here, I ate quite a bit and didn’t feel that at all. I felt light and very satisfied. 6. Most of the recipes are very selective about which ingredients are used. Ingredients are chosen sparingly and for maximum effort and taste. It’s simple and complex at the same time. 7. Just good vibes all around. All of the service people and owners that we talked to were so kind. I would definitely recommend Osteria 57 to anyone.

The only one SAD thing I can tell you about this place, which made me feeling super upset when I left… HOW THE HELL I DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE BEFORE??? So many date nights and hangouts with friends and business meetings could be so much better Not only it’s cozy, staff is super friendly and it’s located in West Village! It’s so DAMN DELICIOUS !!! It’s one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to in last 5 years!!! It’s really amazing! All people should be slamming this door! Not overrated, poorly managed, highly promoted places! TRUST ME, AND JUST GO. I RECOMMEND❤️ What we’ve tried: Starters Bruschetta Caprese Buratta with peaches Insalata di Mare Cauliflower Mains and Pastas Bucatini Gorgonelli with crab(delish but a bit spicy for me, ask for less spicy if you don’t eat spicy food) Linguine with vongole (out of this world) Last one was fish (don’t remember the name, it was white fish, delicious, but not sure if I would order it again) Desserts: Tiramisu Chocolate mousse Plant based! (best of the best) Cannoli (delish!!) And something with almonds (add scoop of ice cream ) Simply wow! They even have air conditioning in their outdoor cabins. Location is best of the best. Unbelievable night out. Will definitely comeback

This place looked super cute from the outside and had long been on my list to visit, but after getting dinner here with a friend, I was left feeling a little underwhelmed in a city with so many Italian restaurants. The service was amazing. And the outdoor seating was perhaps my favorite, with three separate indoor seating areas expanding all the way to the back of the restaurant. The indoor decor was a bit mismatched and didn’t quite feel like it warranted the price, but unfortunately the food here was the biggest let down. It was just very average. I had the pomodoro with burrata, and it tasted like you’d find at any restaurant — no better, and not really any worse. I also had a dessert that tasted like carrot cake with lemon sorbet on top, and didn’t love the sometimes chunky, sometimes chewy consistency. Bonus points for having vegan and gluten free marked on the regular menu (with gluten free pasta options too!) but I personally won’t be rushing back here with so many more standout Italian spots nearby.

"I had the most delightful experience at this Italian restaurant! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed. I chose to sit outside in one of their cozy cabin-like private compartments, and it instantly set the perfect mood for my evening. As a first-time visitor, I was a bit indecisive about what to order, but my waiter was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the menu. I started with the burrata, which was absolutely divine. For my main course, I went with the saffron garganelli, and it was a culinary masterpiece. I paired it with a glass of white wine, which complemented the flavors perfectly. I can't wait to return to this restaurant because the food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The ambiance in those private compartments was truly 'Wow,' creating a unique and intimate dining experience. The service was equally exceptional; the staff was attentive and provided valuable information about the dishes and wine pairings. I can't recommend this place enough, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!"

I never make it a point of coming on to these things and making reviews, but our experience was so exceptional at this restaurant that I felt it important to do so. The vibe for us was immediately perfect as we entered. The music was on point and chill and the decor made you feel calm and ready to relax. From the hostess, to the bus boy, to the server, to the people sitting next to us...everyone was warm and friendly. Our server was knowledgeable and recommended the homemade bottoni which was beyond incredible. I usually don't order pasta when out, but went with his recommendation and it didn't disappoint. For appetizer my husband and I shared the burrata appetizer and the octopus appetizer which they coursed out perfectly for us. We never felt rushed and though the quarters were tight (like most NYC restaurants), we never felt crowded. I'm still tasting the food and can't wait to return.

  • Paola Rios

We participated in their menu for restaurant week, and it was sub par. The ricotta toast was actually good, but the burrata with peaches was mediocre; the peaches weren’t flavorful, probably because they weren’t ripe enough. For entrees, we ordered one pasta with lobster and truffles and another with crab. There was barely any lobster meat, and same goes for the crab. Tons of noodles, but not enough protein, so the ratios were off. For dessert, we ordered the cannolis and the tiramisu. The cannolis were very hard and the tiramisu was dry. Service was also pretty disappointing, but I think it’s because we were seated at the chefs counter which is a fancier way of saying we were seated at the bar next to the kitchen where food was being prepped. Our waiter was probably stretched thin. Won’t be going back.

We enjoyed having dinner here recently, and sat in one of the cozy streetside cabins on a rainy evening. The cabins are climate controlled and comfortable, though are a little tight on space despite having seating for 6 people. The cocktail list was comprehensive, and we all enjoyed our choices. There is also a good variety of wine by the glass options, with multiple choices for red, white, and rose. For food, we took advantage of the availability of several specials featuring truffles- burrata toast, lobster pasta, and linguini with clams, all of which were topped with a generous portion of white or black truffle. We also enjoyed the crispy cauliflower starter, the cacio e pepe, and the roasted maitake mushroom main. We found all of our choices to be delicious, and definitely will be back!

A quaint and cozy Italian restaurant! The ambiance is nice. It's good for a date or to be with friends. It's more on the quiet side. They have warm houses if you want to dine outside. The service is great. The team is observant. The drinks and food come to the table fairly quickly. Everything was tasty. We tried the lobster dish and the black sea bass. The cauliflower app and the app with the calamari are also really good! I recommend this place!!

Cute little Italian restaurant in NY. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Service is good, and servers are polite. Truffles on ricotta toast taste good but not so much in the pasta. I’d call this place mid luxury in terms of dining experience. Absolutely loved their cappuccino. Multiple vegetarian options are there - by vegetarian I mean - options with eggs.

I’ve enjoyed every about this place. The food is well presented and tasty. You can see from the photos that the chefs put a lot thought and care behind each dish. The waiter and the host were secessional, very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is very relaxing, either inside the restaurant or outside. We had a table in the outside cabin, which was air con and you feel very much apart of the inside vibe. I see a lot of the reviewers mentioned about the price and the portions. I think maybe the cocktails could be cheaper, but the food is totally in price range for the quality and the experience that you get. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely return.

What a great find! This is such a cozy place with an intimate vibe. The food was delicious! I had the fusili with mushrooms and scallops and my friend had the cacao and pepe pasta. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu and millefoglie. Everything was very good and portions were just right! The staff were so friendly and were so apologetic when we were asked to move since another group had arrived for their reset. I can appreciate a restaurant that respects reservation times! We gladly moved to the bar and had a great time there. I'll definitely be back!

Osteria 57 is a fantastic spot. The seafood and pasta are out of this world! I went with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. We had one of the cabins, which had a hook for our jackets and a heater. It was super cozy and felt really private. I also felt incredibly safe; they had hand sanitizer on every table, the servers all kept their masks on, and we were separated entirely from other parties. The service was fantastic. Great drink options to start off with, and we ordered the burrata to share - an absolute must. Others at the table also enjoyed the calamari. The cacio e pepe is also phenomenal. You can tell the owner puts a lot of love into his restaurant. Highly recommend a meal here!

  • Greta Martinez

Absolutely a 5 star quality food experience. Their drinks and wine selection is perfection and an Italophile’s paradise. We had the watermelon salad, ricotta truffle toast (well worth the $$), the salmon and paccheri with burrata to eat. Our server could have been friendlier, he seemed annoyed when we asked questions but everyone else was extremely welcoming and the environment is very homey and just lovely. Also, please note it can get very loud in the dining room and quite warm in the back room so opt for outdoor seating if you’d like to hear each other easily. Came with a friend, will definitely come back with my husband.

Amazing service, amazing food, great wine selection. We went as a catch up with friends for NYC restaurant week (although none of us actually ordered off that). We got the scallops for apps, a great Pinot noir for the wine, the special black truffle lobster linguini, branzino, the special gazpacho salmon, tiramisu, vegan chocolate mousse, and more (just listing what I had or tried from a friend). Literally everything was great. Definitely a pricier place, but great mood (a bit darker for those like my dad who need a flashlight to read the menu), great food/wine selections, and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back here sometime!

Charming atmosphere. The staff were all super warm and welcoming. The food was beyond our expectation. Highly recommend the octopus as an appetizer as it was cooked to perfection and delicious with the beans and braised shallots. For pasta… it’s was beautiful. The fusilli was hand rolled and fresh and the mushroom ragu was on point! If you like a creamy pasta then go for the cacio pepe! Will definitely be visiting Osteria 57 again soon!

I have been a regular for over 4 years, this restaurant has become an Italian food love story. Try the saffron pasta, beyond any pasta I ate in Italy!! Everything dish is carefully prepared, pastas are made in-house, focaccia comes out warm from their bread oven. Service is excellent. Chef Riccardo Orfino takes great care in selecting the highest quality organic ingredients at the farmers market and creating a well rounded seasonal menu.

I was very pleasantly surprised! The restaurant vibe was awesome, rustic yet hipster. Bread at the table was a nice touch. I came here because it was “vegetable forward” on Rest and I wasn’t disappointed. The cauliflower appetizer is to die for and the vegan award winning pasta was delicious. One of the best cashew sauces I’ve had, creamy and decadent. They had a nice selection of red wine by the glass. My only feedback is seeing octopus on the menu made me very sad. All creatures are amazing by octopi are especially incredible. Watch My Octopus Teacher if you haven’t seen it already. Look forward to coming again and trying more veggie options!

The restaurant was very hot. The AC wasn't on. We asked one of the servers if they could put the AC on and he never came back to let us know about it, or let a manager know about it to come talk to us. The food was very bland and the server didn't tell us the specials prices (note: they are double the regular price.) We also noted that it was a special occasion for a birthday for my partner who is an executive chef of 15 years. She said this was the worst experience she had had at a restaurant. A must Skip.

Highlight of our trip to NY! Truly magical experience: knowledgeable servers with great recommendations, cozy atmosphere and UNBELIEVABLE FOOD. We tried 3 different chef specials and EVERYTHING was perfect. While the main dishes had some interesting twist to them (in a good way), the deserts were very traditional: tiramisu was just perfect and canoli had extremely light cream. 10/10, great value for money and I still have great aftertaste in my mouth.

For me it’s one of those amazing restaurants where you want to try everything in the menu. The food it’s exquisite and the service it’s always been great. I’ve been here three times and counting and i have not been disappointed one time. 110% recommended!! .. My only feedback is that they should put some fans in the cabins, because it can get a little hot. But I promise!! The experience of the food of this place is worth it!!!! The fried calamari has to be one of the best fried calamari I had in a loooooong time. Always ask for the specials, they are the best of the best and don’t forget their cannolis, oh gosh! They are perfect!

Started with Truffle Ricotta Toast and I've been dreaming of it since. Great spot to check out solo or with another fresh pasta lover. Cocktails and wine list are unique and complement each part of the meal. Saffron Garganelli won me over with the perfect zest to kick ratio. I appreciated the warm and attentive service, and they were right to not let me leave without the Cremoso and Limoncello to really make me feel like I was on the coast of Positano. Can't wait to come back on my next trip!

Walked past Osteria 57 on my way to brunch at another restaurant and the outdoor seating setup was so cute, we decided to stop and eat here instead. I’m so glad we did! The outdoor seating is in a charming cabin-like arrangement with speakers and great separation between tables by way of clear dividers. For food, I had the goat cheese + pesto omelette, which was extremely creamy and delicious. There were at least 10 other things on the menu that I wanted to try, like the avocado toast with burrata and the cacio e Pepe eggs with truffle, so I’ll definitely be back! I also can’t wait to go back for dinner to try out the pastas.

This place is simply FANTASTIC!!! Having grown up in Italy we struggle to find authentic Italian food wherever we travel, however, Osteria 57 was an exception. From the moment we walked in and were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff to the minute we walked out after eating a superb meal recommended by Lorenzo, we were impressed. The ambience is perfect for couples looking for an intimate dinner or for friends wanting to connect and have a delicious meal. Excellent food and ambiance! Not one thing left on my plate. We had reservations for a party of seven, and we sat outside in what was made to look like little cozy cabins! A sweet cabin in the village! We ordered lots of shared plates in addition to entrees. I had the halibut. It was perfection! The crispy cauliflower, Barrata, and fritto misto, all delizioso! 5 stars all around. The food was amazing. The service was above and beyond excellent. We felt welcome here. Never rushed. We came to celebrate my birthday and it was the best special occasion dinner I've had since we moved to a small town after spending most of my life in Los Angeles. The drinks were so full of flavor... I could taste the herbs with every sip. The truffles! Wow. And the pasta. Perfect. I am falling in love with New York and all it's incredible restaurants. A friend and I saw this on IG and decided to try it. The food, the wine, and the waiters... all of it wonderful. The vibe was so romantic, warm, and cozy. The only problem I had was being rushed at the end of our meal because other people needed the table. The back and forth to keep checking if we left yet was a bit unsettling. Other than that, it was all good.

2.5 stars We came for restaurant week which has a fixed price do $45pp. We ordered the burrata and calamari for appetizers. We were big fans of the burrata, but the calamari was just fine. However, we were pretty disappointed with the mains. We ordered the bucatini cashew kombu and spaghetti alla chitarra vongole. The bucatini was too heavy, while the spaghetti was too light in flavour. The tiramisu was alright. However, the service and ambience of Osteria 57 was wonderful.

Food 3/5 The food was good, although not good enough for a perfect score. The price of this place also dragged it down a bit. Nevertheless, the drinks were very delicious and paired well with the pasta. I ordered the seafood linguine, which I thought was quite good, but I've had better. It just didn't seem very worth the price they were at. Interior 5/5 Super cute, but we were seated in a corner that wasn't in their main booths, even though I had reserved beforehand and those booths were empty. Service 3/5 Felt a little rushed, not the most friendly.

  • Jennifer Le

Came here for a late night dinner. Although the ambiance of the restaurant seemed promising, the food was very disappointing. Octopus appetizer was decent but monk fish tasted like rubber, green bucatini was drenched in an overly rich sauce, the side of snap peas were overly cooked that it was nearly mush. I would not recommend this place nor will I return for food. On a positive note, they have a good selection of red wines by the glass. The vibe was cute and intimate inside. Would come back for a drink..but definitely not food

  • Helen Izbor

This place is sooo good! I first spotted them months ago and loved the ambiance, and it was so exciting to finally get to check it out. Me and my date both had the specials — the lobster truffle pasta and the butternut squash sweet potato shrimp ravioli. God, I died! So so so tasty!!!! I don’t even like pasta, but both of these dishes were absolutely superb, mouthwatering & outstandingly delicious. Honestly speaking, the food was one of the best I’ve had this whole year. Worth every cent! Will definitely come back! Lovely!!!!

Have been meaning to go here for a while and we were so glad we finally did! The drinks were awesome and the food was delicious. We spent a good amount of money on two appetizers, two pastas, a dessert, and two drinks each, but it was worth it for a date night out. I got the Cacio e Pepe which was creamy and perfect. Our waitress was also super friendly and made the night fun. Plenty of vegetarian options, will definitely consider coming back again!

The true rating is probably 4.5 stars. Everything is very fresh and tasty but there are some area where execution slightly missed. For example, the fried calamari was well seasoned and crispy and came with enough sauce! But a bit overcooked and tough. The special fried squash blossoms we're also super crispy but the rice batter they use make it a bit heavy and chewy after a while. These are pretty minor nits. Overall, you'll enjoy your meal here.

Had a fantastic anniversary dinner here. The waiters were attentive, thoughtful, and patient. I had the best pasta I have ever had in my life here… and I eat a lot of pasta. If you have the opportunity to order the buttered pasta with shaved truffles, do NOT miss it. I cannot express that enough. My partner got a spicy tomato based pasta that was lovely. Exceptional service starting from the hostess to the waiters and manager. It’s hard to find a good Italian restaurant in the city due to the fact that most places are converted to Italian-American now-days. The plates were very creative and absolutely delicious. The crudo of the day was out favorite choice. Great overall experience!

Made a mistake on my reservation for the wrong date and showed up at 9pm on a Saturday night. They were very accommodating and understanding and helped us get a table as soon as possible. The hostess, server and bartender were all great along with the food (and drinks). Great small atmosphere with good music that’s not too loud. Will come back when I’m the area for sure :)

One of my best dinners during my NY stay! Although a bit crammed, the food was amazing. We went full on with 2 appetizers, main dishes and a dessert which were all amazing. Pastas were exceptional. The staff were really friendly, one helped me with payment issues a few days later so thank you so much!

The ambiance in here is very nice. I ordered the Cauliflower appetizer which is good. I liked the flavor of the whipped pink ricotta mixed in. I tried the Brussels Sprouts Salad which was ok. The linguini with clams was not very flavorful at all, and about 65% of the clams in my dish were empty shells with no loose clams in the sauce. The Cacio e Pepe was good, and the cannoli were pretty good as well.

Came here with my friend for dinner. We split the octopus, she got the lobster truffle linguine, I got the pistachio pappardelle, and we shared the tiramisu. The octopus was great, and the lobster linguine and tiramisu were incredible! I would’ve liked the pappardelle to be more flavorful though. Service was top notch and we felt comfortable in their outdoor seating arrangement - tables were adequately sectioned off and we could feel the heater. Will be back!

  • Cdogg Springsteen

Came here for dinner - every dish was flawless. The pasta with lobster and truffle was extra pricey but that is because of the expensive ingredients. A truly memorable dish. The price point is indicative of the quality of the ingredients and the West Village location and is similar to other restaurants in the area but with food of a higher calibre. Loved everything about this place - a cut above the rest.

Really excellent. Lovely service, delicious food. My only complaint: we were in one of the outdoor booths and the curtains don’t really keep the cold air out very well when the waiters move in and out of the space and don’t close them very carefully. It was a very cold night, and it was not, super comfortable

Lovely ambience. Friendly and cheerful staff. We had: crispy cauliflower, special burrata with pistachios + peaches + mint, Gnudi ricotta e Spinaci, Paccheri Pomodoro e Burrata, iced tea. Crispy cauliflower and Gnudi ricotta e Spinaci are our favorites. Little pricey but ideal place for a special date nights. Also, this place was very close to Mark Twain's house, so stopped there to checkout the landmark. Will definitely visit again!

Great option for pescatarians or vegetarians. Every dish we had was deliciously made. Highlights were the cauliflower appetizer, the cacio e pepe with truffle shavings , and the Tiramisu dessert. Will definitely come again!

The food was incredible. The drinks were super tasty. Service was so quick and efficient. After we blew out the candle on our table, no less than three people came by to light it for us within two minutes. The waitress was friendly and quick but also let us slowly enjoy our meal without checking in too often. I’d definitely recommend!

On a trip to NYC, and by wandering on the street, we’ve discovered this restaurant. Great cosy ambiance, pasta with delicate tastes that seems like coming directly from Roma ! served with smiles, lot of attention from all waiters/waitresses that we couldn’t find anywhere else in NYC. Couldn’t advise anything but try this place, you won’t be deceived !

The place itself is really cozy. Nice ambiance. Our waiter was really nice and really helpful with showing me the vegan options. The bread was delicious. The cauliflower appetizer we had was really good. Pasta was perfect. Also - chocolate mousse.. try it. Definitely recommend, especially to people who want a vegan and non vegan dining spot.

All around great establishment. There wasn’t one thing I didn’t enjoy. The wine/drinks were superb and the cuisines were delicious. The calamari and tar tar were great appetizers choices, both very fresh in taste. The saffron tagliatelle pasta was delectable and had a abundance of flavors. The staff was great, they were very pleasant and helpful.

I got the cauliflower appetizer, lobster linguine with truffle special, and fruit tart. All super delicious! The best part is able to bring my vegan friend and still enjoyed our options. The outdoor space is lovely. They have two people seating in the outdoor cabin. Even though it’s a tiny space but does the job.

Absolutely phenomenal brunch spot in West Village. Then portions are massive, the flavors are on point and the service is impeccable. we loved the tiramisu and the beat salad (although all their dishes were excellent). The decor is stunning and the vibe is super fun. Highly recommend for a weekend brunch!
