After the cylinder came out of my front door lock and I was stuck and locked outside with it attached to my key I was at my wits end! A few calls to other locksmiths in Hamilton proved fruitless, no one available to help but one competitor company suggested I call Ottawa Key Shop. Sure enough, the friendly voice answered, sure no one immediately available but can come a little later, best offer I had and secured a visit. Nathan called me when he was 10 mins away, allowed me time to get to my house and upon arrival set about the task of jimmying what was left of the lockset to open the front door, and he was done in short order. Saved my bacon :) and extremely pleased with friendliness, professionalism and politeness of everyone I engaged with. Had a cumbersome automotive lock from a classic car that I was missing keys for. The staff at Ottawa Key Shop quickly identified the required blank and key code when I supplied them the lock cylinder, they had everything in stock and even freed up the matching door handle lock I brought in. It was quick, painless and cheaper than the competition. I also got a number of residential and padlock keys done, which seemed to be done in seconds, for half the price of ones that never work well from Home Depot! 5/5 would repeat, recommend and rave about. Not a very friendly associate that served me. Seemed like I was kind of a bother. Did not tell me the price or ask how many copies. She just took them to the back and started cutting. They had the blank keys and cut them. I paid and left so that was ok. Still have to try them, hope they work. For basic key cutting they did the job but would not go out of my to go back. Canadian tire and Walmart Machines are just as effective for normal keys. Price was fair at just over $5 a key.

Poor attitude and customer service. After spending $150 on a simple but expensive deadbolt, the tumbler fell apart after the first try. I brought it back and the short, angry, dark-haired lady behind the counter grabbed the deadbolt, without a word, took it in the back and started to work on it. When she finally came back, instead of saying sorry, she gave me back the deadbolt and told me to be more careful next time. Time to find another locksmith!

Ottawa Key shop is a shop that cuts keys on Ottawa St in Hamilton. (Makes sense) They named the store after the sign above the front door. Whether you are a landlord changing locks on a vacant unit, a tenant letting your bf move in because rent be expensive these days or just really enjoy collecting a ring of keys ... Ottawa Key shop is the best locksmith in town. All the guys are really kind, helpful and knowledgeable.

I paid $81.51 at Home Despot for a new dead bolt that they no longer will key alike for you. You have to take it somewhere else...?... I took it back!!! I went to Ottawa Key Shop and paid $40.09 for a better quality unit which they keyed alike right away. Don't waste your time and coin anywhere else! Professional and very friendly!! ...and the wife said very handsome! lol

After spending quite a bit of money at this store for the locks and security of Earls Court Gallery, I stopped in this morning hoping to solve a current lock problem. I asked a few questions which got one word answers from the lady behind the counter and absolutely no help or suggestions whatsoever. I will take our business elsewhere from now on so I wont be a bother.

I’ve been going to Ottawa key shop for years to cover all my safe and lock needs, Very friendly and knowledgable staff. The gentlemen who came to open my door when I was locked out had me inside my house in very little time. 10/10 Update. Been a few more times, still great prices, even better service. I have an old BMW that I only had a single copy of the key for. I have used other shops in the past but no one could replicate my key well enough that it would unlock / lock my doors. Ottawa Key Shop was able to do so and only in a few minutes. Friendly staff and great service. Highly recommended

Had a roof rack that I had snapped a key off while in the locked position. They picked the lock, got the half key out, made a key from a bent key that was in 2 pieces and charged me less than $20 for all that help and 2 new keys. Beyond fair pricing and great help. I'd definitely return!

I foolishly lost the key for my home safe and the friendly staff at Ottawa Key Shop had the lock picked and opened within 5 minutes of my arrival. The best part was they didn't change me anything to do it. I would highly recommend these guys for all of your locksmith needs!

Spoke to someone over the phone because I was looking for getting a spare key for my car and she took the time to explain everything to me and had a very nice demeanor. Most places I have spoke to could care less about customers calling in for help.

Great service and very knowledgeable staff. They even fixed a lock for free one time and sent an employee over to my office to give me much needed advice on something I bought from them and I was installing wrong. Great people there.
