I booked a twin bed for me and my mother, the room had plumbing issues and smelt like constant faeces, I had to call reception numerous times before someone would finally come up and spray air freshener. That didn’t even work and we were never offered a new room. The room decor was extremly outdated, nothing like the images and not worth the £200+ we paid. One of the beds was pushed right up to the radiator which is a health hazard and also stopped the room from getting hot. We then had to call reception numerous times for someone to come up and provide us with a radiator.. the first radiator provided had one leg and started to burn the carpet which left an awful smell. We had to call again for a replacement. The phone line kept being cut out, service was extremely slow. Room service took 2 hours, we felt like we were forgotten about. Food was warm not hot like it had been waiting for a while. It was over priced and I was charged for both when we specifically asked for it to be split. Breakfast was late leaving us 39 minutes to eat and leave not to mention they crossed out options we picked and gave us the incorrect order. The breakfast room service man was very rude. We asked to make a formal complaint after check out and were waiting an hour. The experience left my mother crying in the waiting area and I had to hold it in. This was her first experience here and she doesn’t ever want to come back now. Overall disappointed and this hotel is worth £60 per night at best.

Really disappointed by our experience at Oulton Hall. Although the building is beautiful and has such potential, the service we received consistently fell short throughout our stay. We booked a "superior room" for a night, which it says on the hotel's website should come with complimentary robes and Elemis toiletries, neither of which were actually in the room. Aside from the free mini bar this felt like a fairly average hotel room and not worth the price difference. The main reason we booked this night away was for the spa so we went to use it after checking in. We asked about our missing robes there. The two girls on the spa reception were extremely rude and dismissive about this, and instead of being apologetic did not seem to believe we should have had robes in our room. We were only given them when we were about to go to speak to the hotel reception about it instead. The spa was cold, extremely(!) busy and there were lots of children running around and jumping in the pool. There seemed to be swimming lessons going on as well and the jacuzzi was lukewarm, and very few seats. None of this is what I'd expect for a spa hotel. We requested a quiet room but it seems this was ignored. On the contrary we were given one adjoining another room with a door between them so we could hear our neighbour's conversations. Breakfast was nice but I was given tea despite asking for coffee. I really regret booking this hotel and certainly won't be staying here again. Coincidentally I'm arranging a spa hen do for my friend at the moment, as well as my own wedding, and won't be considering Oulton Hall for either of these - had we received the level of service I'd expected this may well have been different!

Went to Oulton Hall spa and hotel for a two night stay. The room was accommodating and clean, with nice views. Although the bathroom was a little worn. Oulton Hall is an impressive building, with stunning exteriors and interiors. The staff were helpful and friendly. By far the most disappointing part of the visit was the food. We had dinner and afternoon tea at the Calvarly Grill, the hotel’s expensive restaurant, and were extremely disappointed with the quality and the taste of our meals. The food was cheap, tasteless and sometimes cold. Certainly not up to the standard of the rest of the experience. We complained about the food and received a small discount on the drinks we ordered. Breakfast was better. The spa was also a little disappointing. We were expecting a relaxing and quiet space to enjoy the facilities but there weren’t enough seats to sit down on and it felt very crowded. The hot tub was not hot and the bubbles were sparse and concentrated in one corner. Overall, the spa atmosphere was not relaxing although the treatment (done by a friendly group of ladies) was good. I stress again that the service was lovely as was the architecture of the building and the grounds. However, it seems that Oulton Hall may be cutting back on their food and maintenance expenses.

Good afternoon, We booked for a special weekend for my wife's birthday. My mistake by the confusion of the special offer. I thought I had booked for 2 nights. I was offered a extra night for £209.00. The evening meal was really nice and the service was outstanding, Oliver and Liv we felt went the extra mile, thank you. We arrived in the restaurant for breakfast with expectations of similar quality of food. The cold buffet was fantastic, the only downside was there were no plates or cutlery. The hot option was poor, mind you consider we arrived at 7.00am. The beans were skinned over, the bacon was luke warm and the scrambled eggs were awful. I think it was dried eggs. Fried bread nice, and the hash browns okay. I suppose I should have said something there and then, however I was so disappointed. The staff were attentive and helpful. Since coming home I have noticed from your reviews customers were offered additional nights at £135 special deals, a bit more than the £209 we were quoted. Peter Fletcher.

Starting arrival from to the hotel receptionist to the final 3 nights stay the experiance was just amazing. Staff carlos and sarah from the resturant were so welcoming haf a great sense of humour and even requested extra vegeterian options from the chef to meet our requests. The food was just so nice . The butler yousef was so so friendly very genuine ,hospitality best ever and very very friendly. The spa experiance so amazing the staff member taylor was really brilliant she helped resolve a problem we had from our itial booking. Very polite and kind lady. Francessca and medina were brilliant ,their massage and facials were so relaxing and made the whole experiance so specail for me and my wife celebrating our anniversary. We still talk abojt our experiance a couple of weeks later. Thankyou to all the staff at oulton hall . You made our experiance a great one to remeber. God bless you all. Mr and mrs Singh

Love this hotel so much. The place stands out and way above many other hotels we’ve stayed in, because every single staff member, encountered over 3 short stays this year, has been friendly, kind and helpful. And I mean every one, quite something! Planning another visit in November.

Love the rooms we’ve stayed in. Only slight comment we had, was one Friday morning being woken very early because we were in a room with a connecting door to our neighbours. It wasn’t a big issue and we liked their ability to singalong to Adele at 7am!! We mentioned it to reception as we were staying another night and without asking our room was swiftly changed for which we were surprised and very grateful.
Food & drinks
Very good menu for dinner and again fabulous staff.
Noteworthy details
Beautiful interior, stunning views and grounds and a lovely lovely place to be because of the amazing staff!

Impressive hotel in a lovely, picturesque setting. The staff are wonderful, they are so attentive and really go out of their way to be friendly and make you feel looked after. The member of staff on the spa desk was a little abrupt however she did seem under a lot of pressure. Fine on the first day when we went for our treatments however on the 2nd day, we went to the spa for a quick swim before we left and as it was 11.40 was told we weren't allowed to use the facilities...once I informed her that our check out time wasn't until 1pm, she did allow us to go in but told us how busy it was and we didn't feel very welcome. It was indeed very busy and I felt sorry for the people on a spa day as most had nowhere to sit (I think it was overbooked due to the special offer and it being bank holiday). We were out well before our 1pm cut off and on our way home. Overall a lovely stay and we would return.

I am a wheelchair user, and had an accessible room. However I did experience some issues, it was difficult to manoeuvre in room, had been warned the shower had a lip, but there was no stool. Non automated door to enter, so need carer or staff to assist with entering and leaving. It is an old building which had steps on some routes, however all the ones I needed had alternative routes with level access. Many door open thank goodness as very limited automated doors. Was some option for room service, but service charged applied even for accessible room. Breakfast was not available for room service, and buffet style !!! There is also some charge optionon menu for table service. Staff and other guests did offer to help as could see impracticality of system. I location where the need for carer assistance is required. At least they did try.

Wow! What a hotel. The best night sleep I've had in a hotel for a long time - super comfy beds! Care has clearly been given on acoustics and layout of the hotel because you didn't hear the wedding/evening activities that were clearly going on around, so if you wanted peace and rest, you could do. There is a clear attention to detail, and such a beautiful hotel - you feel cocooned in a level of luxury. But what sets it apart from other luxury hotels - and the main reason we will recommend and return - are the staff. Super friendly and professional but also human - they interact and want to interact, and make you feel as though you're a guest at a country house weekend rather than just a paying customer that they have to be nice too! Genuinely the best hotel experience we've had for a long time. Well done everyone!

An absolutely stunning hotel and beautiful grounds. The food is outstanding as is the service. We were married here and I absolutely recommend Oulton Hall to anyone thinking of planning a wedding or a nice relaxing break. Everything ran smoothly and was exactly the perfect day we wanted. We visited the spa for a hot stone massage which was excellent. All areas of the hotel are nice and clean and well maintained. We will happily return again. Huge thanks to Mark the GM, Caroline and Sam who managed our wedding, and to the entire team who made our special day so wonderful and made us feel so welcome.

Booked the spa day for two with lunch and prosecco. The lunch ruined the whole experience! I would not class this as lunch or a "light lunch". it was actually really funny to see the salad bar and you could see how confused and disappointed everyone else looked too. There was literally only salad and bread rolls. It's ridiculous, considering this is a 4 star hotel and you're spending over £100 per person. The least you expect is a sandwich or some Soup. You expect to receive first class service so you return. We ended up buying lunch, which I think was their intention to get people to spend more money. Advertise it properly, either without lunch or charge more and provide lunch.

We really enjoyed our first stay here. The pictures really don't do it justice. The staff were all genuinely friendly and helpful. We used the spa, gym, ate and drank in the champagne bar and sat in the main hall. All grand and luxurious. Nick the manager was very friendly and helpful and Chris at the champagne bar too, both went above and beyond. Will definitely be coming back for a nice break.

October 2023 Went with a group sun/ Mon golf. Hotel excellent, good rooms, bar, food very good. Various comfortable lounges. Claret jug/ bar restaurant very good. Not impressed with the courses. Advertised as a 27 hole complex, 1 to 18 being the main course. The Hall course below standard on greens/ tees, long grass off the fairway, meaning slow play ( looking for balls. Very poor signings for hole / t location. Decent pro shop, but no proper direction from staff, and no one marshaling the starting etc.

Food excellent, especially attentive to allergies etc. Chef produced an excellent meal slightly different to the menu. All staff on hand to assist regarding drinks. Breakfast, covered all appetites, cold fruit, yogurts, cereal, fruit juices, pastries of all types. Then there was the hot food. All kept piping hot, on a help yourself display. Staff helpfully delivering tea or coffee. A wonderful way to set you up for the day. Oulton Hall an all round wonderful experience. Thank you very much

Spa day with a friend. Lovely facilities in the spa and really good treatments. Hotel is impressive and the gardens well kept. The only disappointment was the light lunch - it was a buffet style but I had to ask for it to be replenished as they had been busy. The pita bread was fridge cold. There was no other bread (some was bought when I asked but only for me). The ham and cheese were not good quality. Overall poor for a hotel of this standard. I will use the spa again but maybe rethink the food options.

Huge thanks to all the team. We had a small family based 'hen' weekend with spa. The whole experience was lovely and the staff were fantastic, even when it seemed all guests decided 9.30 was breakfast time on Sunday- they remained polite, positive and efficient, with plenty of everything available! All meals were delicious, and our spa experiences were totally relaxing! Staff front of house and behind the scenes, cleaners etc were all really friendly. We created some great memories this weekend- thank you for making it possible!

Just had a super relaxing weekend with my niece at Oulton Hall. Quick journey to Leeds and short taxi ride meant neither of us had to drive. Hotel and grounds beautiful if helped a little by the temperature this weekend. Plenty of lounge areas, eating places and bars, including an excellent and very fairly priced Champagne bar!! We enjoyed dinner at the Cleverly Restaurant, delicious too. The pool and spa facilities were fine but not the best, hence one star off. For value for a weekend getaway, a triumph!

We had a fantastic stay at Oulton Hall. The service as exceptional from the waiter serving us afternoon tea (which was delicious!) to the staff in the health club and restaurant. No request was too big and we felt exceptionally well looked after. The rooms were comfortable and stylish and the steak in the restaurant was one of the best cooked steaks I’ve had in some time! We will definitely be back! Thank you Oulton Hall!

If you have never been to Oulton Hall you need to get there ASAP! Bathe in the grandeur of the beautifully restored hall and spa and bask in luxury. They even used to do coffee and home made cake for around £5,50...I really hope they bring it back as locals would easily pop in for such quality deals! Delightful, peaceful, beautiful although relax and be patient as service can be slow..

It would have been a five star review but on arrival there were no cups in the room, one sachet of coffee and no sugar. And no hot water anywhere in the hotel on our first night. What a shame........because it's a lovely hotel with great surroundings. I would still recommend this hotel. One word of warning..........book the spa before going as it's extremely popular and gets very busy.
