Last night, me and several of my coworkers participated in an event where we packed 1 million meals over 2 days to fight hunger for kids in Utah. It was hard work and we were excited that we met our goal. So 9 of us went together to celebrate. Since this was part of Silicon Slopes Tech Summit, we had been at the Salt Palace and Patrick's was a convenient place to go. Because of the hours of hard work and since we were going straight from the service project, one of my coworkers had her water bottle with her when he scanned her ID. I had my work bag with an unopened redbull in it. I'd had a couple in my bag to help get through the long day of packing meals. When we got to the table, she set her water bottle down and I pulled out my redbull to drink because I don't drink alcohol. My other coworkers walked back over to the bar to order drinks because the bartender made it very clear that they don't do table service. I took one sip of my redbull and the bartender came charging over yelling at us. He grabbed the water bottle saying we couldn't have it in the bar and he grabbed my redbull and rudely told me I couldn't have it in there. I said, "I'll take it outside and he angrily looked at me and said nope and threw it in the trash. We just wanted to sit and relax from all our hard work. I don't know if there was a sign that said "no outside drinks." If so, I'm sorry I didn't see it. If there's a law against it, I don't know about it. With Patrick's Pub being so close to a huge convention center during a massive convention and the Sundance film festival in town, I think the polite and prudent thing to do would be to assume that not everyone is going to know all the laws or rules for Utah, Salt Lake City, and Patrick's Pub. The bartender could have simply walked up and said, "I'm sorry but we don't allow outside food or drinks." To which I would have said, "I'm sorry. I'll go drink it outside." He also could have taken note that we were all wearing volunteer service shirts and we looked like we'd been working hard and assumed that the water bottle was simply a water bottle. He could have politely walked up and said, "I'm sorry, I should have told you when I scanned your ID that your water bottle isn't allowed. I need to set it behind the bar and you can retrieve it when you leave." How hard is it to be polite? We weren't loud. We weren't bothering other patrons. All but 2 of the 9 people were ordering drinks and planned to order many more, so we weren't just freeloading. I left immediately with those that hadn't ordered drinks. Those that had, finished their drinks quickly and followed a few minutes later. We went to Bourbon House a couple blocks away and they took very good care of us. When we left after 3 hours and spending hundreds of dollars, they thanked us for hanging out with them and wished us a good night.

My husband and I have been to this bar a total of 2 times. We go to events a few doors up, so it was rather convenient to find a chill place to grab a few drinks before. The first time was great, the bartender was upbeat & an overall great experience. The second time however, we were treated rather poorly. Maybe the bartender having a rough day, who knows. This time, the bartender made snarky comments regarding our age. (We are in our early 20’s) and got pretty rude & irritated about us asking which drinks they had available, which was nothing out of the ordinary. Regardless of his attitude towards us & they way it made us feel, we did leave him a tip. We returned a few weeks later only to find out we have been banned from this bar. Unsure why. Kinda sucks, but what can ya do? We were quiet and polite. Just be aware that you might get banned from this bar if you ask for a specific drink..such a bummer.

I visited Patrick's on a Friday night after a Jazz preseason game. While I enjoyed the "modern gentleman" vibe put forward by the wall art, this isn't the bar I have in mind when ordering a 007-level cocktail. Most everyone was drinking beer, and to be honest, it was not busy for a weekend night. Myself and two friends walked right in and sat down at a table where we spoke at normal volume the whole time. The trade off for that smooth conversation, however, was a less lively atmosphere and a patronage skewed heavily male. There are some pinball machines in the back (which some young folks were chastised for manhandling during my visit) and televisions at both ends of the bar to enjoy the night's sports. Overall, this was a clean and surprisingly quiet spot, and I enjoyed my first visit. That said, were I looking to socialize beyond the people I brought with me, I'd probably head elsewhere.

I Wish I could give a zero star.. don't go to this pub unless you are his friend. I am referring to "bryce" Yes his name is Lower case for a reason... he thinks he is an owner but he rhymes with owner only with a B. I have spent countless money there day in and day out. I simply called and asked for a recommendation on a rickshaw to get to his place to give him money to buy drinks. When I arrived he harassed me for it. I walked right out. People get punched in this bar, people that work for him, and he does nothing to help or pursue charges for his very own employees. This place will not last long do not waste your time visiting. No wonder Sam quit, no wonder Rachel left.. you are pathetic. You will most likely be shut down because you can't keep up with your neighbors. Guess what… You did it to yourself Bryce. Good luck. MY ONLY ADVICE... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PUB!

Avoid at all costs. Not because of the drinks, the service, or the atmosphere, or the crowd— all of which have my compliments, in fact— but because of the profoundly badly behaved ID checker at this place. I swear this guy was drunk. This guy (an employee!) would straight up randomly walk up to tables and interrupt peoples’ conversations, openly insulted bar patrons, wouldn’t stop talking and would go on with these back-to-back fifteen minute long anecdotes, ignored the front door and left people waiting to enter, and even heckled women outside the bar. This guy caused our entire party immense discomfort. Again, avoid at all costs, specifically because of this guy.

Edit- Bar owner's friend tracked me down and started harassing me for my review. Edit caused date to change. Back in February 2017... We had an impromptu wake after hearing a dear friend passed away the day before. We had over 40 people show up over the course of a few hours, all of us just wanting to share our love and support each other in this difficult time. Everyone was ready to stay and hangout and spend a ton of $ on drinks..Unfortunately , Bryce (bartender) was a total jerk. The way he handled himself sneering and yelling- basically throwing a tantrum the entire time. There are better ways of handling a rowdy situation without chasing away business.

what to say about Patrick's bar. i told bryce I need a beer and with the speed of the "flash" I was given a beer not the right beer but a beer. I was so happy with this bar that it had no one in here I had room to breath. the music choice was changing and always go with the beat of the night. I liked this bar so much I can back the following day. Rachel only had one smoke and she gave me her last smoke which showed me they care about the guest. I say everyone should come to this bar. it will finally bring salt lake city to the next century of bar grounds. p.s. Guinness makes draught in a can. have bryce show you

As I read some of these LAME reviews it blows my mind. This bar is one of my favorite bars to go to. I met Bryce from coming in and he is such a genuine guy that I am so glad to know. Every single person who works there treats customers like they are friends. It is such a great atmosphere and I would ignore all these stupid petty reviews. I will never not go to this bar. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY....THIS IS A BAR YOU NEED TO GO TO. Sweet staff, sweet prices, and a sweet atmosphere.

This review is not for the establishment, but rather for the extremely rude bartender who works Saturday night and has zero sense of humor. He was incredibly unfriendly from the second we walked in the door and after a few minutes of interaction, decided that we were going to be too difficult and refused to serve us. So, we took our money over to Poplar Street where we had a lovely time with the very welcoming and incredibly friendly staff there.

  • marley dean

This review is for the extremely rude bartender serving on Saturday night. I asked for water and he told me that if I wanted water I came to the wrong place, and then ignored me the rest of the time i was there. He then decided to kick our whole group out of the bar because another person asked for a few drinks and some waters. Since we all wanted water, he believed we had been drinking too much and told us he wouldn’t serve us.

A buddy and I were looking for a chill bar to have a drink and watch the NCAA games. We saw Patrick's pub and decided to check it out. The bar tender was cool, I didn't have anything specific in mind that I wanted so I told him to make me anything with vodka in it. He made a cucumber collins and I really liked it. I liked the atmosphere there also and would recommend checking it out. I'll definitely be back.

  • Dustin Dean

Great little bar. Pleasant and professional staff that doesnt let the amateurs, snobs, or self important get away with ruining the night for the rest of us. Low key and relaxed, and the pinball machines are an amazing consolation for getting rid of the dart board. I don't drink but enjoy the atmosphere and the owner has gone out of his way to offer more than the typical crappy O'douls.

  • Vanessa Hess

Best pub downtown. Period. Bartenders, service, ambience, they KILL IT! !!!! Even the bathrooms are upkept, especially considering they're single stall. However seemingly simple dive it is, the owner and 2 other bartenders I've encountered know craft cocktails. So you can gain some knowledge without the pretentiousness which is hard to come by in the heart of salt lake.

  • Chris Rigney

Killed my buzz. Walking around downtown SLC, have never been here on foot, stopped at Patrick’s for a 3 dollar beer and the bartender asked for my ID, fair enough, then he took it to the register and shot the strip with a scanner. I only wanted a beer not an investigation. He just did it for three more customers. Do not drink here. I won’t, gestapo

  • Lisa Nico

Great people, both the crowd and the bartenders. It's actually a deceptively large place, once you get inside! Note there is not really a good food option, although the entry way is shared with a Thai food place. Side note-what is it with all the bars here having Asian food options next door?! Haha anyways, it's a good place to meet new friends.

  • Rachel Ward

I absolutely love this bar. If you enjoy having a good time this is the place to go! The staff is energetic, interesting attentive and inclusive. The energy here is super welcoming and friendly. This is the kind of place you'll probably end up making friends. Would rate Patrick's a 10/10! And the door guy on the weekends is super hot. ;)

  • Joseph Lipzinski

Patrick's is a great neighborhood bar. It's a place for friends to just chill and enjoy a beverage with each other and have a good time. The owner and staff have great pride in the business and keep it inviting to any person who will return the same amount of respect for it as they have. Cheers to Patrick's Pub.

  • Mike Phillips

Even walking in not knowing anyone in this pub, I felt overly welcomed. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Great atmosphere. Bartender Raymond even put on my football game with the sound! The owner came in and introduced himself to me and welcomed me in. If I could rate this place any higher I would!

  • Deaf Chick

The bartender was so helpful and social, I felt very welcomed. (thank you Sam) This Pub was designed and looks amazing! Definitely a place to grab drinks with a date or your girlfriends, but then again it's perfect to just relax and watch a Real soccer game. Energy in this place is worth it in itself.

  • Jay A

Place was dead when we visited. The bartender was to notch - very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the place to ourselves for about an hour, so that was great. I'll definitely stop here next time I'm in town.

The owner of Patricks is super rad. All of the bar staff here are also excellent. Next to my favorite coffee spot downtown and also next door to J. Wong's. On Saturday and Sunday nights after 10pm the best taco truck is half a block east of Patricks as well, cool spot.

  • Jordan O. James

Great place to grab a drink right across the street from the convention center. The guy tending bar when I came over for lunch was great at hiding a conversation, recommending good local beer and talking about the town. I would swing back here again for sure.

  • Jacquelyn Komperud

First time in SLC, Patrick's offers attentive & FRIENDLY customer service, along with a chill, inviting atmosphere. Wine, liquor & beer selection was great too. Bryce was the only bartender out of the bars we visited that made us feel welcome. Make the stop!

  • Chea Briggs

A great little bar, TV's, pinball, outside patio. Service is quick, and friendly. Plus the prices are great. So many bars downtown overcharge. Great for all types of groups. I've gone with my husband, with my girlfriends, and bigger groups. Very laid back.

  • Azur Timmerman

Great staff, super relaxed environment to have a quiet drink in, fair prices and awesome selection. This bar is a really nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. J. Wong's is right next door so you don't even have to leave to get good hot food.

  • Winston Valle

Great place and really great bar tenders. Great drink specials.. $4 Jameson Shots!! Good beer prices. A must visit Bar for tourist and locals alike. Fyi you can order good Chinese food next door and have it sent to the bar.

  • Freddie Château

Bartender working on 3/20 was a huge ****. After insulting us, he turned to an older couple who had placed a pile of $1 bills on the bar and said "what am I your accountant?" to which they replied "that's your tip".

  • Carrie Mae

My very favorite pub in SLC. Good ambiance without being overwhelmed with millenials and bad music. Great place to drink and relax......also excellent choice for after hour business meetings and negotiations.

  • Kristie Nadzom

I have visited this bar the last two years. It is close to the salt lake city convention center and has indoor and outdoor seating. I will be there again next year when in town. I recommend checking it out.

  • Lisa M. Reed

This is a fantastic place!! The staff/owners are amazing, the atmosphere is chill, the drinks are made well, the music pleases every genre and the pricing is out of this world cheap!! A definite must!!

  • Jonpaul Okal

Popped in for A beer while in town for a convention. Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Place was nice and the lively but not overcrowded. Beer selection was good. I would totally stop again

  • woodengiraffe

Went there on Saint Patricks day at 8pm… no Irish music .. no audible music really and out of Guinness… how do you screw that up.. the one slam dunk of the year and you can’t deliver. What a joke

  • Manuel Maximiliano Mora

The bartender is so rude. I don’t drink much, and he kicked me out just because I only had 3 beers and he told me that he won’t serve me ever again. I was expecting much more about this place.

  • Anthony van Elderen

Never ever when i was in the States i had to show my passport to order a beer and even worse had to have my passport photo copied. This place definitely did not wanted to earn a buck on me.

  • Stephanie D

Not the most authentic Irish pub I've been to. Local hangout that has it's regulars. Drinks were acceptable, but the atmosphere was not as friendly to those who appeared touristy.

  • Brittney Bleazard

Environment was good. Nice and quaint. The bar tender was less than impressive. 4 stars for being exactly what we were looking for that evening. Not too loud. Not too busy.

  • Ben Ortega

Good selection of beers on tap and even more so bottles and cans, good prices, excellent service. A historic building environment that you don't experience in modern pubs.

  • Eric Williams

Penny is so awesome! The drinks are affordable, the atmosphere is awesome, you have outdoor seating available—if you are in the area, this is a great place to hang out!!

  • Ami Hanna

The gentleman behind the bar with the snazzy caps is a valued business advisor. Where else can you get an alcoholic fizzy drink on tap and sound financial planning?

  • Jordan Lenz

Terrible experience. Myself and several other people waited a long time for service and when the bartender took one of the customers orders he was extremely rude.

  • Grob Bley

Best prices I've found downtown and the service is amazing. Owner Bryce is a great guy who values quality patrons and offers quality service to keep them around!
