EDIT: I appreciate your taking the time to respond and counseling your staff. That being said, here is the problem: First, your stores have numerous complaints that during the heat of the pandemic, social distancing was virtually nonexistent and mask-wearing was not closely monitored. That was my observation as well. Now to be clear, I'm not someone who believes the staff can run around a large retail store and police everyone; however, go to from what I and others observed during crunch time to this overzealous policy now is completely inconsistent and not a great indication of management's values or priorities. Second, vaccinations have been readily available and easily obtainable for a long time. I had to drive 3 hours to get mine three months ago. AT THIS TIME, if you have staff that hasn't been vaccinated, that's on THEM, not the hundreds of customers in your store. THEY can wear a mask, including the kind of mask that protects the wearer, rather than placing the burden on EVERYONE else. It may not be a big deal to you but at this point, it's a matter of principle. I was not aware I cut anyone off. If anyone had approached me politely to have a conversation about it, I would have been happy to do so. I simply responded to your employee fussing at me from behind the counter and as I stated earlier, it was as much about how he approached it as what he had to say. ----------- This place is big and there's a lot to look at, so if you like vintage you're bound to find something if you take the time. Prices and condition are iffy but that's the new trend for vintage. If you like more contemporary, mainstream or brand names, you'll do better elsewhere. There are a lot of rumors from former staff about the way management has treated people in the past and the fact that there was a complete walkout when they tried to open originally says a lot but I try not to judge things when I haven't heard both sides. Today, they lost me. I've had mixed experiences with the staff and today was surprising. I spent the last year and 3+ months diligently wearing a mask everywhere. At our business, we required them and had to ask people to put one on or leave if they wouldn't. If I needed to confront someone, I approached them and apologized, letting them know politely that we still required masks at the time. We followed CDC guidelines and the law. I was double-vaccinated over two months ago and continued to respect private property owners who still required masks. I haven't been anywhere in a month that is still requiring them and had already been next door to Buffalo where they said "masks option for vaccinated individuals," a perfectly reasonable thing - but even so, virtually no one is still policing it. However, after walking around for a few minutes I was near the front counter and one of the employees shouted "excuse me" from behind the counter and pointed at my his face. I was confused and then he pointed at a box of masks and told me I needed to put one on. I told him that I was double-vaccinated and I would just leave and he said "that's your choice." Not only is it ridiculous to still be requiring masks on vaccinated people at this point in time, he was a complete jerk about it. Sorry, but a cool-looking space won't be enough for me to come back.

Went to visit UT campus with my daughter who is a Senior in High School . We drove 2.5 hours to do so. She LOVES vintage/thrift. So, we saw the cluster of stores down on Guadalupe. When we went into Pavement, it was one of the most unique thrift stores we've been in. There is a rack of pop culture (mostly music shirts toward the front). She has a week of "decades" wear coming up at school. We found a Woodstock shirt that was a new screen print with a tag from like Marshall's that was $9.99. Pavement tag was right at $15. I was sure there was a mistake and I asked the blonde young woman who was fixing the racks about it. She said we go by our price and we left the other tag on there to see what the original owner paid for it. What??? So, you intentionally leave a cheaper tag on something to blatantly show that you are trying to screw your consumer?! What I suggest to the owner of Pavement is you remove all original tags. If you want the buyer to know it's new, type NEW on your tag. Also, get staff who have a clue. The girl that waited on us was sweet, unusual, and had no clue who the manager was but"thought" it was the girl who may have given the completely idiotic response.

I was so excited when pavement opened earlier this year because Buffalo ended up just not providing the quality nor the variety of items that pavement has. I’ve frequented the store plenty of times and always look forward to the helpful employees who really seem to want to help you find the perfect piece to complete your look. On Instagram they usually post new arrivals and I saw something that I really had to have. When I visited the next day, I did not have the same experience as usual. When I arrived I asked a taller dark haired employee who seemed completely disinterested in helping me and after that informed me that the item had been sold and that I should probably check the Instagram again. I looked around and couldn’t find the item but did find other things I liked. When I went and checked out I mentioned that the taller employee seemed to be upset or not happy with me talking to him. She said she’d make a note that his name was Joey and mentioned that he can be “difficult.” I hope employees like that don’t become the norm, because I would be really discouraged from coming back.

Today, I had an encounter with an employee (who usually works in leopard lounge) he was rude about me asking for my 5% discount that I get EVERY week for using my reusable tote. This is very upsetting. So I ask the manager Issac about it and he also was rude initially but apologized after I further explained the situation. That was triggering but I appreciate him taking accountability. However, at least 2 other employees were saying rude remarks when I was speaking to Issac and I let them know about themselves because he didn’t address their rudeness! Ive spent hundreds of dollars weekly (over 2 years) at this store and I would appreciate if that got back their staff members that were actually kind to customers! I use to love everything about the employees but clearly they can get “snappy” at you and there’s no consequence because they tried it with me! I’m not one that will let anyone disrespect me! All in all they have great stuff but are in great need of training some of the employees on professionalism!

I called the Mgr to complain about a negative experience with one of their weekend vendors. She assured me all visitors were respected and the experience I received was unacceptable. My experience was that I approached a cannabis table which I thought might have been visited by a good artist friend where goods were exchanged by barter. I was having trouble putting my thoughts together and the vendor went off on me. I guess cuz I'm an old guy with a ponytail and I don't shave these days. If you are not a 20 something I'd suggest staying away. I think the entire staff was out threatening me with police intervention and physical violence. There's something of a mob mentality there. It seems the vendor was approached by the the Mgr and convinced her I was the ah. Quite the opposite.

It's sad that people have to tear down a hard-working and cool new business over petty personal issues. Sure, their staff is young and sometimes awkward but otherwise friendly, spirited and eclectic. Ahem: JUST LIKE THEIR CUSTOMERS! They're your peers. (Frankly, I'm surprised they HAVE enough staff since many establishments cannot hire - so they're doing something right!) Otherwise the shop is clean and interesting to navigate! So much inventory, it amazed me! And so many great sale racks. I'm not a Gen-Z 'cool kid' but love seeing all the on-trend pieces and fun vibe. I give them a 5-star rating for working so hard and bringing some cool new resale & vintage life to that block on Guadalupe!!!

  • Connor McLaughlin

ive been here a few times now. the only reason im giving 2 stars is because the music is consistently loud enough you can feel it in your chest & is INCREDIBLY overstimulating. the other semi-problem i have is in the curtains for the fitting rooms have no way to secure it to the frame which makes me uneasy i do think pavement has a pretty good selection of clothing at a decent enough of a price & definitely would rather shop here than other known resale shops but how loud & intense the music is overrides pretty much anything else. so this is NOT a good place if you have auditory processing issues, sensory processing issues, or prone to overstimulation

  • Monika Perez

OMG, This is my new favorite place!! It’s sooo worth the 1 hour drive from salado. I had a big 35 gal. tote full of clothes, and I was expecting them to take a few items and get like $100. YEAH RIGHT! They literally took everything and my husband came back with a $440 dollar check! I couldn’t believe it! I used to go to buffalo exchange all the time, but they literally only take like 10 items out of my 50 plus items I bring. Plus you don’t need to make an appointment at pavement unlike buffalo exchange. And if they are busy you can leave your stuff there and they’ll call you when they’re ready. Plus you get more money back here!

My sister was visiting from out of town and we stopped by. We found lots of great finds. We actually went to the south location the day before and came to this location the next day. Everything went smoothly and everyone was attentive and nice. My only concern is that I found a bralette to buy in size M (priced at $14.95) and then my sister pulled out the exact same bralette in a size S, marked at $12.95. I brought them both to checkout and she marked it down for me to $12.95 but just note a precaution! Not sure if this was a one-off or if they are jacking up prices for bigger sizes... If so, that's not cool.

  • Benjamin Busdicker

Waited over 2 hours for them to do my buy. When I asked for an update after an hour wait, the manager told me she has to send employees on break, so it would take awhile. Your inability to plan the day’s floor schedule is not my problem. I got a decent amount for the clothes I brought in, but their process and standards are a mystery to me. They took stuff I thought for sure would be passed up, yet they passed on stuff I thought for sure they’d want. Shopping their racks, I’d say their buyers aren’t trained very well (or consistently). Staff in general seems socially awkward.

  • Adele Witt

A nightmare to deal with. I have sold three times. First time the gal was great focused. Second time the girl chatted with her coworker and then hung out with some customers who were her friends. Third time though..might be one of the most ridiculous things ever. Not only was she chatting with her customer friends for 5 minutes she walked away from the buy (with me watching) to go take photos with them. The people who work here treat it like a big hang out mot work. Go to Buffalo better to get lower amount and not deal with the to good for you attitude.

  • Juliette Alora

Witnessed terrible treatment in this store. An employee who’s name was Steven literally called one of the customers a weirdo (just because he wanted to sell when they had already closed I think) and was being mad disrespectful in front of everyone. i didn’t see or hear everything but the manager was standing right there, and didn’t say a word. These employees get paid to gossip at the counter all day just to close the buy counter at 6 o’clock and then verbally abuse their customers over it. Peace and love! <3

  • Swathi Reddy

I would give zero stars if I could. They said they would go through my stuff immediately . I sat right there and they didn’t take a look into my bag. After an hour I walked to their desk asking how much more longer it would take and they said they didn’t like any from my stash. Are you kidding me? I was sitting right there and they didn’t open my bags. Very rude and unprofessional. You could have at least had the courtesy to go my stuff even if you decide not to pick anything. Never coming back here again!!!

  • jeordon kofahl

imagine asking the general manager to find out some simple information only for them to tell you its not their problem and hang up on you mid-sentence. this is the laziest excuse for a human being with an unprofessional appearance and disgusting attitude to boot. says alot about this company that this person can be promoted so high up. do not ask this person for anything they cant be bothered to lift a finger while they stand around gossiping and collecting a paycheck.

  • Marji Pasman

Giving two stars because the buying was quick and the buyers were friendly but when I went to check out the cashier wasn't listening to me and did cash instead of trade. Instead of being helpful and offering some kind of customer service she was so incredibly rude (for her mistake) for no reason. Her manager came and essentially ignored me and said nothing and just handed me the cash. Sending an email to Pavement with cashier info to let them know.

  • Tiffany Thomas

Brought in a bag of vintage from the 60’s-90’s and some international designer and all but two of the items were declined, which is okay, but when I looked through my bag, it looked like nothing was checked through (still folded and organized by me). When browsing I noticed their displayed stock was SHEIN quality stuff or worn out shirts/sweaters/jeans. I feel like the quality of their stock was better about a year ago. Bad buyers buy bad stock.

  • Klara Henry

Really hit or miss. The clothing racks are packed so tight it’s really hard to see the items and the selection of shoes is pretty bad—mostly Qupid brand shoes which are low quality. I also think the music is way too loud and abrasive for a clothing store, but that’s subjective. I have found a few nice items here but unless you’re planning a whole day of it, I would generally would skip this spot for all the other great thrift options Austin has!

  • Keri Christian

Great selection, but incredibly overpriced and the music is WAY too loud! Don’t go here if you get sensory overload easily. I could not hear anything my friend was saying or any of the workers. Also every item my friend found ended up having giant holes but it was still price marked incredibly high so she ended up only buying a T shirt. Would love to go back but won’t be if the music will still be unnecessarily loud like its a Hollister.

  • Stephanie L

It’s a good thing I don’t live in Austin cause I’d be blowing all my money here if I did. This is a great place for mid-century and 70s clothes. I found a ton of cute blouses and mod dresses for a bargain. For some reason those are priced a lot cheaper than the 90s & y2k stuff. However, I’m docking one star because they sell clothes with tons of stains with prices that don’t always reflect the condition.

  • Tracy Torbett

Visited 7-18-21 Best thrift experience yet in Austin. FAB. U. LOUS. Near the UT campus north of downtown. Cute exterior! Clean, spacious, organized, great music, beautiful decor and atmosphere. Go when you have time to kill. So many great vintage pieces of clothing. Be prepared to have your head turned and overspend. Friendly staff. Roomy dressing rooms. Highly recommend!!!

  • tessa lindsay

Not a good selling experience, I looked at their instagram before hand to see what brands they like to take and I had taken clothes like free people, madewell, lulus, Abercrombie denim skirts, Nike, topshop and other higher end brands. After dropping off 4 bags of clothes, I was called 4 minutes later and was told they didn’t like anything. Don’t recommend selling here lol

  • Rick .

Pavement was my favorite store until they increased the price for vintage items. I often had fun finding vintage clothing here because the price were cheaper. But since the price has gone up that I’d rather go to other vintage store. I’d say they increased about $30 more from original price. For example, i often bought a pair of denim for $15 but now it’s $45.

  • Holly P

Awesome vintage clothing store with shoes, hats, bags, jeans, and all types of men's and women's clothing. There's also a great jewelry wall with brand new earrings and necklaces! There's a lot of new shoes and sunglasses available too. It's a huge store! You can try clothes on here too. Great selection of cowboy boots for men and women available here too.

  • Claire Dubois

Wide variety of clothing with an emphasis on vintage pieces. The prices are a bit of a laughing matter considering some clothes are from Shein. The music is hit or miss but it’s SO LOUD and when it’s heavy metal it can be a bit disorienting. Buying went smoothly but don’t have high expectations for what they will pay for your items they purchase

  • Robyn Babyak

Overall my experience was good. The wait to sell was a bit longer than expected and the music was too loud that I couldn't hear my phone. I'm also going to check out the Lamar location because I was happy with my payout. I do wish there was more diversity in the clothing, but I know they are mostly buying for the college student's preferences.

  • Michelle “Mimi” Gwinnett

the staff at the selling counter are very cool and helpful. so they don't buy much from me ever but when they do buy they pay well definitely better than Buffalo without q doubt. I do think some of the items in the store are a bit over priced. the shoes and t-shirt prices are a bit much but I guess that's what ur paying for is the trend idk.

  • Ellis Ott

Great spot for vintage or gently worn modern. Absolutely massive space. Be in the right headspace to thrift. It’s Incredibly clean, super organized, and I loved all the staff... it’s the perfect median between Buffalo exchange and one of my favorite San Francisco local staples “wasteland” (check them out if you’re in the Bay Area!)

  • Aubrey Folwick

the music here is consistently too loud, racks are consistently overfilled and difficult to look through, and staff are not exactly customer service type people. there are some nice pieces here, but everything is so overpriced and it's so overwhelming to try and find anything that I never end up buying anything

  • Shanese Jackson

I tend to find more items at the Guadalupe location, however the customer service is hit or miss, sometimes they make me want to leave before I even get to try on anything. I guess it depends on the hours you come in. Though I find less items at the Lamar location I always feel welcomed and assisted there!

  • Chemberg Piedra palle

This location and staff is way friendly and helpful than the Lamar location, they always buy a couple things and are usually pretty fast. I saw them protesting yesterday and with inflation I definitely think they should get paid a livable wage especially in austin! Hope everything works out for them truly

  • Gabriella Delgado

Love this store!! I stop here everytime I go to Austin and I’m never disappointed!! Offers a pretty good selection of plus size! Offer good amount of XL, okay amount of XXL, and a limited amount of anything bigger than those sizes! But the plus size clothes are CUTE (plus size girlies know the struggle)

  • Kaylan Howard

Honestly it’s such a great store but I can only stay in it no longer than 30 minutes at a time. The music they play is SO loud, especially in the dressing room. Ive had to yell to talk to friends, I don’t know how the staff does it. I would love to stay longer if they would cut the volume in 1/2.

  • Chelsey Jenkins

If I could give negative stars for the lack of common decency shown by the manager of this store I would. When asked to turn down their pornographic & vulgar music because I had my daughter with me, they declined to do so. Will not be back. They were mocking and absolutely showed a lack of care.

  • ai zhao

worst place to sell. I brought a big bag of clothes full of clothes with brands. A lot of them are pretty much new. The guy at the front desk went through them in 5 minutes and said that they can’t even take one piece out of it. Turned to buffalo exchange immediately and sold half a bag. WTH

  • Jocelyn Ramos

They're website says the buy clothes until closing time but I got there around 7:55 and was told they could t attend me that they were clocked out and they stop buying at 8. Should definitely change that on your website, I wasted gas driving all the way to Austin from San Marcos.

  • Mallory Jones

PEEP HOLE DRESSING ROOM !! I love shopping here, but the dressing room has got to change. The curtains for the dressing stalls are not wide enough, so male and female employees and other customers can easily see in each changing room stall. Very inappropriate invasion of privacy.

  • Chuck Simpson

WAYYYY better than Buffalo. Each dressing room has its own big mirror and the selection for men is 4 times as big. 4 stars because the music is VERY loud please turn it down some. When a bass heavy song came on I heard the earrings rattle like there was a ‘12 sub behind the rack

  • C

Nice thrift store with a HUGE selection (seriously you can spend hours in here). Only problem is that staff are not as attentive and the prices are too high for most of the clothing. I have found a few good pieces from here though so don’t knock it til you give it a visit!

  • Isabella Grace

I love this place it's a curated thrift store! My friends and I are always able to find really unique pieces here. It's a little bit pricier sometimes (for a thrift) but they have really good sales & the staff are great & very stylish. I highly recommend checking them out.

  • July Ann

Idk why Ms Jones has an issue with new workers and learning new things, and esp living with your parents, But Pavement is great! Besides the overpriced rip offs on all these trade places, they have the coolest clothes hah. Thanks for popping up on Guad.

  • Max Pietsch (Max)

Has decent jean jackets. Men’s tees are only $15 each but they’re pretty much completely uncurated and you’d have to be very lucky and committed to find something good. They put new stuff out every day throughout the day, so no specific time.

  • Brenna foyle

Store tells you that you’re looking for XYZ things and that’s this is in right now so I bring them what’s in and they don’t wanna buy it even if the quality is good or it’s never been worn before it doesn’t matter. They just don’t wanna buy.

  • Anna Fischer

Was a pleasant surprise to find 3 items to add to a special collection of mine. Great store and nice employees, particularly the person that helped me at the register so a special thanks to the person with big black platform boots

  • Cj Johnson

Eclectic spot for vintage clothing and accessories. Very organized, clean, funky vibe, great music! Some new items mixed with gently used. Did I mention the AC?? Great option to visit on brutal summer days.

  • Grand Finale

I never fail to find gems here. It’s an added bonus that it’s right next to other great shops. They usually are generous with what they buy back as well. This is my first stop when I have clothes to sell.

  • R. M

It's such a cool place and I love their $1 bin sales. I've found the best pieces here. Super hip and trendy vibe! They have a wide selection on just about anything. One of my Austin favorites.

  • Louanne Hood

Absolutely love the selection and vibes here!! They always have such cute accessories and such a wide range of items. My only complaint is I feel like the prices aren’t super accessible.

  • Chantella Brimhall

There is a store here that sells items by the pound! You have to check it out. They also have the biggest collection of Harley Davidson merchandise I have ever seen in a 2nd hand store.

  • Adrianna

Go here if you want your eardrums blown out by awful music. Clothes were okay but it was really hard to shop while it was that loud. Like shopping at a Da Baby concert with poor audio

  • Christine M

Way more curated than your average thrift shop, but far less nose-in-the-air than the next door neighbors. Superfun!! I got a 90s-era pair of Vans for like $12, and I'm in love

  • Ayo Balogun

Great clothing options available! The prices are moderate, sometimes a bit a high for thrift options. But its A GREAT place to browse through if you want to pick up some things.

  • Joe Rudy Saenz

This place is so amazing and they have such a great selection that mostly anyone could find something. Plus they have realistic prices and all the staff is welcoming.

  • alex jimenez

don’t you think if you are going to charge a shirt 70 dollars you wouldn’t have roaches? WRONG! a lil advice to the customers is to wear gloves …

  • Phreddi Brandyburg

I totally love shopping here selling here the staff are awesome they are super professional and they give you more bang for your buck I definitely recommend

  • Deven Lee

Hands down the best consignment store I’ve ever been to. The staff is so friendly, the clothes are so cute! You are bound to find something you love here.

  • Kelly Le

We visited this store TWICE while visiting Austin! It’s very clean & staff is friendly. Lots of options to choose from & there were really cute things.

  • Gretatude G

Love it! A spacious circus of retro and vintage clothing. Great staff. Find that piece of clothing you've dreamed about but never found before!

  • Lexi Xander MacKenzie

pretty cool i have to admit. they have interesting clothes and i really enjoyed their playlist but i couldn't find anything i genuinely liked

  • Rhonda Gallardo

The young adults that work at pavement are always willing to help the are the kindest most thought people you will ever meet. I love you all

  • Cynthia N Martinez

poor quality clothing and outrageous prices. also, pay your employees a fair wage if you’re going to charge $60 for a shirt with pit stains

  • Cristian Romero

Cool selection of clothes and easy to sell to them (ofc they won’t just take all your clothes, they will be picky) don’t take it personally

  • J M

Very busy location. Finding parking is not easy to find. Have to say best location I've been to. Employees are courteous and helpful.

  • Renato Muguerza

didn't find anything for myself but there did seem to be a big selection, def feels like a quantity over quality situation though

  • Robin Buckley

Absolutely love this place! There are some really really good clothing You can find here for only five bucks. Great atmosphere!

  • laura jean

I appreciate this place being a little easier on price compared to buffao exchange but still hitting close! SUSTAINABLE PEOPLE

  • Jen Fitz

Could spend hours there. Lots of great shoes. Entire room of shoes. Packed with clothing by style and size. Well organized

  • Blake

Folks had me waiting for almost 3 hours for nothing, only to claim they called...they didn't. Never again.

  • Barbados Pearl

Lovely thrift/vintage store. Always bright and clean and with a variety of options for all sizes.

The corner of 29th and Guadalupe is the vintage shopping capital of the world.

  • Alex McClard

Love pavement for its options but the music is ridiculous and so stupidly loud

  • Kate Knight
