So, I came in with the intention of buying a pair of convict cichlids for exactly what they do. I’ve been in the hobby since I was a kid and now I’m 38, so I have about 30 years experience. I don’t keep convicts because they breed so much. I asked for a pair and the (fish expert) started being negative from the get go saying they breed constantly. I told her I know and that’s why I wanted a pair and told her this is a trial because I have a turtle and she insisted that they swim too fast which is ok. She also said they get very territorial and defend. I told her again that this is a trial and if they get eaten, that’s ok because it’s a trial. She made a couple of snide remarks under her breath and one of them I heard as she was walking away was that she sells pets. She was not friendly. I understand what I’m doing may not be ideal but they reproduce more than rabbits, literally. I may not of kept my cool after she was being nasty and suggested that she was being a bi***. She immediately told me that I should leave and not return and I said I am leaving and bee lined to the door and I didn’t look back and heard her telling the woman in the front that I need to go. I’ve been buying feeder fish and crayfish from here for quite some time now and I have never seen this woman before. I mostly deal with the older redhead woman for my turtles food. Not cool. Guess I’m going elsewhere from now on! Your employees should take the customer service tests before being hired!

Recently I had Not one, not 2 but 3 expireances with "Store manager -Rena". She loves the words NO AND CAN'T! I have been a regular client for 7 years. We purchase everything from pet supermarket We don't use chewy We don't use any other the other stores. So the least I would expect is decent customer service which I know in today's world is hard to find. So I want to give a very special thank you to Sam. Also a store manager who went out of her way the other day when Reyna, told me I could not return something or exchange because there was not a button or code in the computer. Which actually was not correct. I simply made a mistake and purchasing canned food that was for dogs 1 to 7 instead of 7 plus it was my mistake I brought my receipt and simply wanted to exchange for the food that my dogs are used to eating. Set the moment I was told no there's no code in the system to do what needed to be done I turned to the other girl asked her if she was a manager and when she told me she was "SAM". SHE WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO HELP ME AND VERY SIMPLY MADE THE EXCHANGE AND I WAS ON MY WAY. If you're in a job just for a paycheck find something that you do not have to deal with the customers. Raina is a prime example of someone who should not be working with customers as it is very apparent she does not enjoy her job I wish her all the best in finding her happiness in a job that she can be good at. I really dislike posting negative reviews, but I was really disappointed with the store. I went in to buy a new filter for my aquarium and a new top with lights. I should mention that I had not measured the aquarium, so was unprepared, but had a good idea of its proportions. The young woman who helped first told me she could not help me with a filter without knowing the brand, and when I explained that I wanted a new one pointed to one on the shelf and said that should work. She didn’t compare brands prices or explain which ones might work better. When I asked about getting a tarp for the aquarium she said she couldn’t show me any without measurements of my aquarium. I don’t drive, so getting there had been a bit of an expensive proposition, which I explained, and said that I thought I could pick a top out by sight, but she told me I would have to come back with measurements. A little later, I wanted to ask her where cat litter was located, and she essentially ignored me. This was disappointing as my experience with customer service at the North Dale Mabry store has always been very different. They have always been very friendly and helpful. I wanted to try the store because it is closer to my house and cheaper for me to get to by Uber. Lesson learned.

Today I went to exchange a cat harness for a product my cat will actually use. It was our first time trying a harness and it didn’t work out. I accepted I can not get a return without a receipt and I saw Sarah at the counter for store credit. She asked me for a bank statement! She said the product would ring in the register even if it wasn't from Pet Supermarket so they don’t know I bought it from there. Why, may I ask, wouldn't I just go to where I bought it from for the store credit then? I usually shop here for all 3 of my cats and my dog’s needs but they lost a customer over not wanting to believe their customers for an exchange for 1 single product. I will be shopping at Petsmart from now on. The only thing Sarah could say was “corporate policy”. I also have a job where I work with customers and I know managers can make exceptions, especially for loyal customers. Never again. I asked a Petsmart associate about how they would have been able to help me and they said it wouldn’t have been a problem at all and they actually laughed out loud. This store is a mess. Never again.

(UPDATED AT BOTTOM) Last week we took our dog to get groomed. We dropped her off healthy and got her back with two black eyes! Nobody could tell us what happened to her... The manager filled out a report that said "unsure if occurred at the pet spa" as if to assume they did not do it when they have no clue what happened to her under their care. Corporate was supposed to call us about reviewing the cameras to see what happened and we have not heard back from anyone.. Please do your pet a favor and do not take them here. UPDATE: We had spoken to corporate who refused to share the video recording from my pup's grooming appointment.. They said it was not their fault and wanted me to sign papers agreeing it was not their fault without sharing the video with me. I refused to sign the papers and that was that.. I should have probably tried to sue but honestly just want everyone else out there to be careful when taking your pet here. my pup recovered but is TERRIFIED every time we take her to get groomed now.

Used this store for the last time. Last visit, we were told that we were giving our dog McDonalds. though what we were giving our pet was recommended to us by an actual Vet, and the employee had no idea on how the food would be given to our dog. The employee made it very clear that our Vets only recommend products they get kickbacks on. I would give this store 1 star for customer service, however to be fair i will give it 3, as they do have a good selection of products. The employees however, feel they know more than our trained, educated and experienced Vets. Not sure if they feel they know more than pet owners and vets, simply because they work in a pet store, but they do not. and for them to put down on the products they sell was surprising, as i personally would not work in a store that sold things i did not believe in. I'm sure Pet Supermarket would not like it if their own employees spoke down on the products they sell. Shopper Beware...

HORRIBLE!!!! I will NEVER shop there again. Daphne and another female employee were rude, more concerned with their own things. Were not welcoming when I came in about 930 am. I asked for assistance when they ignored me. Worse, the bathrooms were disgusting! No paper towels or toilet paper. Daphne refused to honor a Manufacture $3 off coupon they advertised and had posted!!! Claiming it was for the 15-20lb bags of dog food. I was purchasing 2 30+lb bags of dog food at $60 a piece. It's a shame as I used to frequent there for all my animal needs. Due to the arrogance, dissatisfaction and disrespect I received from those two ladies. I will not patron there. I went 2 miles down the road to PetsMart to give them my business. Real shame that Pet Supermarket employs people such as these two. Keep it up and they will soon not have any customers returning.

My boyfriend and I went to the Pet Supermarket last night to pick up some pet essentials. We wound up buying a finch, dog treats, and fish tank supplies. Whitney helped us with this process. She was extremely friendly and sweet. Whitney knew tons of interesting pet facts and had the answers to all of our quirky questions. I really want to point out Whitney's incredible service because we had initially gone up to girls behind the counter (who were doing nothing, sitting looking at their phones) for help and they called to Whitney, who was sweeping at the time, to drop everything and help us. I commend Whitney's hard work and perseverance for having to work alongside lazy ladies. It seemed like she was running a one-woman show that night. Thank you Whitney!

They will get a one star review due to them always having their store phone of the hook. I have tried in several occasions to call this store and that phone is always busy last time I had to literally go in person mind you with a splint on my right hand to cancel two grooming appointments because that phone was busy straight through. So once I got their I called from the registar in front of management and it was still busy. He did not even know where it was. Shame on you Pet Supermarket. I will take my business some where else. I have been told that the employees do that all the time. Not good for business.I will go also buy my dog supplies somewhere else where they answer their phones.

Came in this location looking to change up our dogs food. Miguel was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different food brands and specific needs of each based on our dogs breeds and their needs. He didn't pressure us into buying anything just gave us the knowledge to make an informed decision. He even gave us some samples to try of the stores dog food brand they carry. Overall, we had a great experience and were very thankful for all the help Miguel was able to provide. Miguel is a great asset to this store! If you need help when it comes to dog food choices speak with Miguel.

We exclusively use the self wash stations at Pet Supermarket. They have everything you need (I usually bring washing gloves and my own dog body wash) but they provide soap, dryer, towels and aprons. If you want to pay a little extra they will clip your pups nails as well! Cost of self service is very affordable and I would estimate from start to finish MAYBE 10/15 minutes (unless you have an fluffy pup) and you’re out the door definitely worth not having the mess at home. And after every bath our sweet girl always gets a new toy without fail- great variety!

I have been shopping here for years now. Most of the staff is pretty knowledgeable about their products. The only thing that worries me is having an open pen area for the little hamsters, birds and bunnies. I was concerned that there was no supervision while two teenaged boys were handling many of the little guys. I wonder how many get stolen or handled too roughly. The animals need better security for their safety. The staff was stocking shelves and busy doing other things not paying attention while these boys appeared up to no good.

Pet Supermarket is a great place to shop for all of your pet's needs. Their selection of food, toys, health care and leashing supplies is almost unlimited. Their fish and reptile selection is very cool. So many choices allow you to choose exactly what you want. The staff is always helpful and friendly. They greet all customers and their pets with a smile and an offer of help. They also have grooming services and regular clinics for training and shots. I would recommend Pet Supermarket to all of my family and friends.

This is a really nice store that has just about anything you could possibly need for your pet, and even has some small pets and fish for sale. They have a very large toy selection for all different pets. They have a points program where you get a free bag of dog food after buying 10 bags of the same food. The location is tucked in the back of Britton plaza behind Michael's, and is a little hard to see at first but it's conveniently located and has easy access and lots of parking available.

Unfortunately, I can not say that this place is the place to get pets. Our fish have died every time we have gotten some from here. Mt husband keeps buying them. The hermit crabs died. And they don't give you the money back. I already have to waste time to go back because my pets died and you are going to hassle me about a dead carcass and having to bring you water feom my tank to test it. My other fish from the fish place, Westside Aquarium on Dale Mabry are still alive in the same tank.

Employee in Britton Plaza store skipped over me after other customers told the employee I was up next. As I stated what I came for, she ignored me and walked past to a caucasian family to get them 40 feeder fish instead of my one algae eater. When I spoke to cashier about it I was blown off " oooo the store is just busy". Not acceptable whether busy or slow. And I drove from Ybor City to that location as I was familiar with the store. Will not shop that location again.

Horrible experience. We went to PURCHASE a gerbil, the lady was rude and didnt seem to want to help when we asked if we can see it. Then went on to say how horrible they are for pets, "satan's pets" in front of my 4 year old. She went on for about 10 minutes on how bad they are and we shouldn't get one. We went to Pet Smart and they guy RJ helped us and was very knowledgeable and got out all the ones we wanted to see. And we spent alot of money over there instead.

Not as big as petsmart but it is convenient and they have some of treats I cannot find anywhere else. The staff is always ready to help find something. They carry the fresh meat treats my cats love and for only a 1.99 which is why bargain considering at Walmart they were 3.79 and not all Walmarts have them. The flea medicine is cheaper which is good. Wish they had more variety but overall a good pet store and less than 3 miles from me.

This location works. Very nicely, too. A walk around will offer all the very well thought-out products. Accomodations for all sorts of conditions. ..I found all sorts of items that would be better suited for my elder pup too. ...or the whimsical well made toys ..I personally adore the lamb chops in all sizes .. (not sure I want it slobbered on) Holidays galore. Super balance of choices and service Clean and wholesome. TY.

Fourth star given for staff members. Devon is amazing, and generous. Gave me a pet from his own fosters. Aquariums, supplies, and more. Would not take a cent. 50% of staff is friendly and helpful. Others could care less how they come off. Don't want to be bothered. Supplies running out on all shelves. Probably get from international suppliers. Prices mediocre and to be expected. Conveniently located in the Britton Plaza.

Britton Plaza! I love this place. The staff is very knowledgeable & so kind. The store is spotless. Everyone knows me & they definitely remember me as soon as I walk in. They love their job, they love helping. Great place to bring your fur baby & feel so comfortable. One employee always walks around with you to make sure you get the right stuff. That’s extremely important to me, after all my puppy is my baby ♥️

Staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. I have 2 rescue ferrets and they always took the time to help me figure something out. They truly love the animals they work with. Is is not uncommon to see them interacting with them. I love this store and the people who work there! Enjoy being at Pet Supermarket when my animal wasn't feeling good with upset stomach they are very knowledgeable or what to do and how to accomplish whatever is needed for your pet to be secure with good health and that is a plus they have everything you need but it's better to be in a place where you know that someone can help you because they are trained to Go the extra mile

Great service! We thought our male budgie was sick and it turned out that they had told us the wrong gender (we wanted a male). We picked her up after a few days of them observing her to check if the bird needed vetenary aid and they said "she" was just going through hormonal changes which made her onry... Make sure you do your own research really well before you get a budgie!

So i bought a guinea pig here but it turned out to be a male and got my other female guinea pig pregnant. The babies are the cutest thing, they looked like tiny versions of their parents, and i loved the experience of taking care of them. But i cant keep all of the them. Store wont take responsibility and didnt want to help me find homes for the new ones.

Super nice staff and decent food selection. Their toys don't get marked down often enough so I always hit petco's markdown bin for that. Had to give them an extra star for their self-service pet bath area that comes complete with shampoo, towels, blow dryer, and bibs to keep owners dry! It was only $10!! Their grooming area does wonderful baths too!

I stopped in to make a quick pickup of dog food. The store was organized and clean. They even offered "paw" sanitizer for pets during the Coronavirus/covid-19 epidemic. Overall I liked the store, however the items were a bit expensive in comparison to the feed stores in which I typically make my purchases.

Love this location. Friendly and funny staff, they're the only people my dog will actually get happy to see therefore if she likes them, I like them. I have never seen my dog actually run to a stranger and stand on her tippy toes just to get a treat! The groomer is awesome too, my girl loves her so much!

I've been going there for over 4 years, since I bought my pup. The 1st time I took him there, when he was 6 weeks old, a sales associate made me promise to bring him every time, which I have. I love going there since its the only store where I can take my dog. The sales associates are all Great!

No point in making this your regular place for reptiles. Their refrigerated mealworms are usually expired and half of the container is dead every single time. Also they have crickets 3 days out of the week. Who knows why they wouldn't receive two shipments a week when there's a demand...

I absolutely love coming here and bringing my dog for the bath station. It’s $10-$17 depending on which shampoo/conditioner you choose. I am unable to wash my dog at home because he hates it. Coming here is super easy and he actually enjoys it. They have blow dryers as well!

Julio is great!!! When he trims my doxies nailshe gets them very short without cutting the quick or making him wait too long. The store staff is pretty knowledgeable and friendly most items im looking for are in stock all the time!! Great store to take your critter too!!

Very helpful staff, though it was difficult to find somebody to help us look at the animals. The girls who did help were very friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing selection of pet supplies for everything but cats. Better geared towards dogs, fish, and birds.

I don't own a pet but was with a friend, store was very clean and organized. Has a do it yourself grooming which I thought was nice. They were offering a 5.00 off coupon on something important for animals like Frontline. Would return if I had an animal.

We have used the full service pet grooming here on a pretty regular basis. It does sometimes take a while but the animals are always happy and clean when we get them back. The staff is very friendly and we are overall happy with the services provided.

Love the bathing station, only $10 for a tub at adult height with sprayers, towels, shampoo, a blow-dryer, and a couple of treats! Add to that the folks working there is are efficient and friendly and you have the best pet store in town!

Good pet store but mainly because it is the most convenient one for south Tampans. Prices are a little high so definitely search for coupons before you check out. There is almost always one available for 10% off at least.

Don't Go to the groomers. Usually takes 4 hours to cut a 9 pound dog's hair and give her a bath. Groomers are usually late or not officiant. Just called 12time to find out when my dog will be done and no one is answering
