Be very careful when purchasing an animal in this store. There are two managers in the store - Andy and Allison. They were extremely unprofessional. We purchased a guinea pig from the store and it seemed a little sick (sneezing) so we returned her to the store and they took her the day before Thanksgiving. We waited for a week to discover she had an upper respiratory infection(we had to call because they never called us) then they told us she needs to be on treatment for another two weeks and it will take a week before she can start treatment because they have to order the medication. Our 6 yr old missed her guinea pig and they invited us to come anytime to visit her which we did. They told us we can pick her up within a week from that time after she gets her test results back. So a week later we called and were told that she needs treatment for another 30 DAYS! We asked why, the manager told us she has ring worm! Reminder (we never received a refund for the guinea pig which is against the store policy after you return the animal, we didn’t complain about it because we assumed we were getting her back) I told them we were never informed about her having ring worm and our daughter has been visiting the guinea pig as well as being allowed to hold her and this can be dangerous/contagious considering our 4 yr old and 2 yr old who has weaker immune systems. They replied while laughing because I’m assuming putting other children’s health at risk is amusing, their response was, it is my fault as a parent for letting my child hold a guinea pig when I should already know the risks..... they never gave me the opportunity to make a sound decision because I wasn’t given accurate information about the guinea pig. If I was properly informed about her condition I of course would of never took my children to hold/touch her during that time. This is extreme negligence on their part and I never received an apology. Parents, please be very cautious when purchasing an animal from this location. They do not care about the well being of your child/children and are willing to put them in a health compromising situation.

I took my standard poodle and I paid almost $100 and the stylist Eva failed to do a good job. First I took pictures and told them exactly what what I wanted and told her the ears needed special attentiontion and needed a clean. She did not clean her ears! She said I needed to take her to the vet and get her sedated ( my vet told me it was the groomers job to do ears) she only apologized for not doing her ears. I told them to cut her feet 0, poodle feet, she did not! I told her cut the shaft of her tail 0 and she did not, I TOLD HER TO CUT HER FACE 0 she did not! She said the blade 0 was too short and stressed her out. I have takeen her to other groomers and they had no problem cutting her face 0, a poodle style I wanted. As she cut her hair my dog was calm compliant and did not look stressed so, I don't understand how they charge so much and fail to do their job. I will never take my dog to petsmart grooming because they don't know how to do their job and while her hair cut was not horrible, she failed to do a poodle cut, and clean her ears! which is what I paid for and wanted. A sorry is not enough when you are charging a lot and don't do your job 100% right. PETSMART Don't add in your packages ear cleaning included and then say, OH I COULDN'T DO IT. Go pay $60 vet visit and on top pay more $ for ear cleaning. This is ridiculous.

I spent a lot of time here with my dog Sparky. Its a big store and I loved looking at all the fish tanks and different types of freshwater fish. I miss the days when some pet stores got samples of different dog food. It is hard to purchase a bag and spend a lot of money only to find out your dog wont eat it. I dont blame the store its the dog food makers that dont give out the free samples. So I stick to my dogs favorite type. Their loss not mine. Overall its a great store and I talked to a woman that worked there and she was very friendly and took me to the areas I was asking about. The store has a lot of empty space toward the front and would do better if they had a variety of starter tanks already made up and on display. I think for first time fish tank buyers having all the accessories (pump, heater, declor drops, tubing etc) with the tanks it makes it less stressful and then you just spend your time deciding what fish you or your kids want. They are great for the holidays and make great gifts.

She’s a young Belgian Malinois pup and has been there a few times previously, until a few weeks ago when she wasn’t having a good day. They weren’t able to finish her service that day and asked us to reschedule, which is fine. I called back today to reschedule her and I was told that “due to her behavior and her ‘history’ they can’t take her back.” I was so confused- simply because a young Belgian Malinois (of all dogs) is having a bad day? Laughable. Didn’t even want to take her back after I heard that. It’s a grooming salon for puppies and dogs! What else can you expect? Totally understand if there was aggression, injuries, etc. Again, so laughable. We only went because it’s close and convenient but will gladly pay more and go out of the way to take her elsewhere :)

This is my STORE. I have spent thousands of dollars at this location alone, ranging from 3 levels of dog training to all sorts of stuff for my rabbit. Ari offers world class dog training courses in a simple and broken down learning style. She is incredibly patient and kind to both owners and dogs, fostering a comfortable learning environment. The rest of the staff is amazing. Every single one of the cashier's up front have a smile and go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. The Banfield staff is amazing too. All of the doctors and techs have an answer to any question you can think of, and can fit you in to be seen for routine and emergency appointments within the same two weeks, everytime. I have not seen a business chock full of professionals like this in a long time. When it comes to your fur babies and you want it done right, go here.

My dog had diabetes, and he died a month ago. I had been meaning to return his presentation dog food, but it made me sad, and I put it off. I had been buying the very expensive food for almost a year from this PetSmart, and I kept all my receipts. I grabbed enough to cover the amount of cans I had, and went to the register with the food. The manager came over and asked me what was wrong with the food. I said, nothing, my dog passed away. She did a fake, aww, and they told me I would only get store credit because my receipts were too old. This was a lie, because when I looked later, half the cans were covered by a receipt that was new enough. I told her I would come back when I found a newer receipt, and I have, but I will never shop here again, because that manager was a mean, lying, heartless person. And it's 2019 and I have never gone back.

This is strictly for the grooming center. I have taken my dogs here for over a year and I am constantly finding myself leaving this store questioning why I even go here. There is an issue with the cleanliness of the store which is to be somewhat expected, but the real issue is the lack of quality staffing. Some but not most of the employees are very kind and attentive to BOTH myself and my dogs. There seems to be a lack of focus on customer service, to many times have I been blatantly ignored at the counter or there are not enough employees and they seem too overwhelmed. I would like to continue going here but will not until I see a strong shift in employee attitudes towards customer relations.

I don't normally write reviews, but the customer service at this place was absolutely fantastic. I have four kids that are absolutely crazy and I walked into this place to get some food for my parrot and my bearded dragon 15 minutes before closing. They could have turned us away, they could have been upset. But no, the staff were incredibly happy about our arrival, helped us find what we needed, and Jasmin Rose especially so. She went above and beyond what she needed to in order to make us feel welcome and the customer service skills she displayed, in my opinion are worthy of management. If she was the face of the business I would never go to another pet store. Thank you Jasmin.

I dropped my dog off at the grooming salon and my Mom picked her up for me ( i was at work ).... when i got home i HATED the hair cut . It was Literally lumpsided! And they said it was because my dog was aggressive and didn’t want her legs touched. Even so, they said she was fine with the rest of her Body just not the legs. Understandable. But the rest of her body sucked too! I’m not even so mad that they didn’t finish her, my issue is i still paid full price for a unfinished product. Luckily, the manager Allison was so sweet and understanding and promptly gave me a refund. Now i will just have to shop around for a good groomer i do not reccomend this location’s grooming salon.

It took a very long time for someone to assist me in the fish area. When I finally found someone, she was talking with another coworker and very rudely asked if I was done picking the fish I wanted. When I went to the cash register, the girl was watching something on her phone and giggling without even acknowledging I was there. Not only that, but another girl that come over to the register saw me and asked me a question in Spanish, as if I didn’t speak English only because of my profile looks. Don’t know if I’ll go again to that specific location. I don’t ever want to be treated that way or being racially discriminated.

Not sure where all of the negative comments are coming from, because my husband and I had an excellent experience at this Petsmart. We brought our dog in on a Monday for grooming, assuming it wouldn't be busy. But they were having a random busy day and we're able to accommodate him as a walk-in. We walked around the store for more than an hour browsing and we're approached multiple times by different employees, all of whom were helpful. Our dog looked amazing and they apologized for the busy day and his extended grooming, which obviously was not their fault. Glad to have a groomer in the area does a good job.

They price match anyone. :Update as of 2022 they stopped price matching. They will do one here and there if the manager is there at the register. I still like PetSmart but Chewy is the ultimate customer service I’ve ever had. I don’t know why PetSmart discontinued price matching with Chewy but it doesn’t matter because that was a great benefit that I utilized often. But honestly now I shop 90% more at Chewy all because of 1 policy change. Imagine what others are doing and the loss of business I’m sure is very, very high in the long run. I’d revert back but I’m not the CEO.

First time I had a bad experience. Went in to return an e-collar because it was the wrong size for my dog. I didn't have a receipt because that collar had been exchanged earlier because the prior one was also the wrong size. Apparently, the new cashier's did not ring up the collar and only swapped it for me, so they couldn't return the money. I had to buy something at the store to then being able to exchange the collar. Had to stand in line twice and it took forever because there were only 2 cashiers, the line was humongous and they were very slow. Not a happy camper!

Lots of friendly staff to help you find that special item you need for your dog/cat. Wide selection of dog food, wet, dry and treats. Prices range from pretty cheap to really expensive, depending upon how much you can afford and the quality of the food. They have pretty much everything you are looking for including toys, beds, apparel, collars/leashes and even some medication. There's a Banfield pet clinic inside the store in case your pet needs to be seen by a vet. Overall, I had an excellent experience yesterday with absolutely no problems.

It was "beginning to feel a lot like Christmas..." with long lines, cranky shoppers and exhausted sales folks - that was until we came to PetSmart and was greeted by the most patient, professional employee ("Derek") who not only took the time to look, but found the right bone for our dog and a perfect fit for a leash/halter for our pup. His friendliness and energy seemed natural and effortless as he went from helping in the aisles, taking a quick pic, to then ringing us up at the register. Derek made our day in the best kind of way!

Love this place for pets. Prices are good and store is well kept. Employees are attentive and do approach you to offer help which I love. Only downside which is a problem with most stores like this. Is the small section for birds, wish there was a larger section. With more bird safe products. Also cages don’t seem appropriate for parakeets. Wish there was warnings for new bird owners as they do sell parakeets there. I’d recommend checking other stores for parakeet supplies even if you can get parakeets here.

The store and banfield are great, this review is for the grooming salon. I took my dog, a miniature poodle, to get groomed. My dog is very well behaved, I’ve had her groomed at many places before, this was my first time at this Petsmart and I am beyond disappointed. It is hard to believe that trained groomers working for a widely known company would exhibit this level of lack of skill. It is a good thing my dog will grow her hair in about 4 months, because the way she was groomed is unacceptable.

Lots of quality products for a wide range of animals. Also had a pet grooming salon and a vet. We come here with are puppy for the vet services. We bought the coupon book on for $20 and ended up using several of the coupons, including a free version visit. They are also an AKC registered vet. They also have a puppy package for all the shots and spay/neuter for a really good price. Friendly service and knowledgable vets. They make sure you understand all the procedures before and after.

Was really great place in the past but now something has changed. The last time I went the young man at the register turned his light off after my wife had been standing in line and told her sorry,you have to get in the other line. She got in the other line and the man turned his light back on, my son asked him why he did that, he said sucks for you huh. It's funny how one person can drive my business, and the business of many more people I am sure away from a store that I once loved.

Hardly any people right now and this store is massive. They had 1 cashier with 5 people in line and immediately opened up another line to get us moving faster. Id give it 5 stars except i had a grooming appointment and when i picked up my girl, the person who brought her out removed the blue keash before i had control of her Shes a runner. Thank goodness they have a 1 family in the libby rule. Had anyone else opened the door she would have run away

Found the dry dog food with no problem. Even had a coupon for a free can of food. I had 4 birthday coupons for my dog and cats. I asked if I could run them together with the dry food. Madison was the cashier. She said no problem. Come to find out, it wasn't a possibility. After working things around she was able to do it by doing separate transactions for the last 2 items. She deserves kudos for the work she did to make sure the coupons worked

My dog was groomed beautifully as usual by Kaitlyn. Staff is friendly. Sad news that my groomer is leaving coming back only on weekends when the special discounts is not available. If PetSmart is listening I will raise my stars to 5 if you add the discounted price two include weekends so that I can have the groomer that my dog knows and loves. This is a service dog essential to my Independence. The price is important to a disabled senior.

The size of the store is nice. It's bigger than the one I usually go to on balboa ave. A lot of options. We also use this location for our dog's vet. Great service every time we've gone. The staff is friendly and very attentive to our needs when we're there. We signed up for the monthly pet care service plan. $50 a month & it covers all basic check ups & some other things like blood work. We've been going there for oblver a year now.

Their website said this was the only store in stock with the fish I wanted. I drove for 40 minutes only to be told I couldn't buy the fish that day and would have to come back another time because it was "shipment day". It is rather ridiculous to say available in store only and in stock but then not make the sale. Considering my gas from this trip was more than the fish I wanted I won't be returning to go through this charade again.

Worst grooming ever! Asked for my colllie to have a 1 inch trim all over and a sanitary shave. She came back completely shaved down to the skin. Collies can’t be shaved because their coat won’t grow back normal! They ruined my dogs coat for the rest of her life! I have lived in Japan where the groomers don’t speak English well and they did a better job. I know of this happening to another persons dog in the last weeks too!

When I first went in I was told that they were really full at the time and that it would be best to make an appointment so that I didn't have to wait too long unnecessarily. When I came back for my appointment they were quick and straight to the point and I wasn't frowned upon for taking the least expensive option, but they were still honest with me about what needed to be done. I would definitely recommend this place.

Very helpful staff. Well kept store. However, in-store mark-ups are HIGH vs. even PetSmart's own Web prices! I only noticed because one of my curbside delivery items was not in my order (though it turns out there was one bottle of the stuff I wanted on the shelf). The shelf price was $8 above the Web price! Yikes. They do price match. But one should't have to "work" at price matching if you want to browse the store.

Worst pet smart I’ve been to when it comes to the fish section of the store. Every time I go it’s always fish delivery day so you can’t buy any fish. Also I’ve never seen so many dead fish kept in the tanks. Literally there is more dead fish in there than live ones. I’ve been coming here for over a year and it’s not getting any better. Everything else about the store i great no issues it’s just that section.

Marissa was amazing and so helpful! Best service I’ve ever received. She deserves to be recognized. She help me look at ingredients based on my preferences for my new kitten and helped me find the best harness for my cats. She also help me find the right toothbrush for my kitten. I can’t say enough how great she was and I’ll be returning to this store just because of the customer service I received by her.

She was so sick wouldn't eat, vomited 3 times, I was nervous thus being my first pet. I found her by my trash cans when she was 3 weeks old. I called Petsmart and in my area the wait was a month so I called Murphy Canyon and they got me in the same day. Banfield Hospital had a first time exam at no cost. She is so healthy and full of energy..we love her..Rosie. Thank you Banfield Hospital

I needed a few specific things for my dogs, so I went in to look. I met the friendliest fellow customers and their pets as well as a young man employed by Petsmart named...Caden (sorry about butchering the spelling, Mr. Caden) that was not only knowledgeable and professional, but super kind and friendly. Even the cashier asked me to say hi to my dogs for them. So sweet! Definitely recommend.

It's a pet smart lol... not much to say other than they have what most pet smart's have with slightly overpriced items but all in all if you need what the have and don't have time to wait for shipping then there there which is nice... Ultimately I tend to use smaller individual sellers rather than the big box chains as there more personable and often have more Taylor products to my needs...

I typically have a good experience here and always come back however I will not be grooming my dog here anymore! Suzanne made us feel highly uncomfortable and unwelcome and gave me a lot of attitude… I showed up half an hour early to check in for my appointment and she was rude to me and an elderly lady next to me who was legally blind. I felt really uncomfortable leaving my dog with her.

I ask the gentleman to see if they were out of stock on some cat food. He came back and told me they were out. The gave me the option to get the smaller size and match the price for the size I was looking for, this is the first time I ever had anyone suggest this. I just thought WOW! Great customer service, above and beyond. Keep up the good work. Very clean store, friendly staff too!

This PetSmart is SO warm and friendly! The employees always welcome you in and are very helpful and kind. The store really big so you'll be likely to find whatever you need! Plus, if they don't have something you need, they'll help you out by checking other stores in the area! I always come here to get food and other fun stuff for my dogs and birds...I wouldn't go anywhere else!

They have a good amount of pet supplies. Some of it is a good price and some of it is overpriced, however they do price match so that's a benefit. My main complaint is that the husbandry of the reptiles can be greatly improved, the cages are far under the recommended sizes. Improve the living conditions/husbandry of your live animals and I'd happily update my review to 5 stars.

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this Petsmart, its my favorite and closest destination to me so I come here often.The store is always very clean, organized, and its easy to find what you are looking for. I also go to this Petsmart for their grooming service, which honestly is not bad at all in my opinion. I take my dog here once a month, and I have never had a problem.

I went here to buy a ramp for my dog who had surgery recently and the associate was very helpful and nice while assisting me to find the one I needed. I ended up needing to return because my dog had complication and needed to be put down. Everyone who helped me that day was extremely sweet and considerate while I returned the ramp. I will definitely shop there in the future.

Derek is who helped me with fish knowledge, and adding the products to what I needed for a 39 gallon starter tank. Reviewed types of fish, plant life vs decorative plastic plans, and then advised I set up tank, let it run for a day or so, bring in a sample of my tank water to test before buying fish........to make sure its safe for them. Going back in a few days to get fish.

Used the curb-side pickup option for my cats food today. Extremely satisfied and happy with my experience!!!! It is not easy raising a pet, and it is so nice to have something go smoothly once and a while. Will definitely be coming back and referring it to family and friends! This place has a very responsible pet adoption program. I love to visit the kitties when I'm shopping with my daughter! Check the store for puppy adoption days they have them brought there and it's very well managed. Grooming, training, treats, supplies and healthy food made this store my favorite for a long time. The neon fish are worth considering too! Gorgeous.

Petsmart is always a great place for our pets... They pick their employees with great customer service however if they had a little more knowledge that would be very appreciated and helpful. For such a large store the turlte section is very small. That was my mail box disappointment.. thankfully LLL reptile is close by for me. But over all good clean store.

Been trying to get a snail for my fish tank here for about a month. Every time I go in there they have signs up "Fish Day". They won't sell fish on Fish Day. But everyday is Fish Day. It is getting really annoying. The Pet smart buy my house is super small and doesn't carry snails so I'm literally making a drive out to this store special.

If you want to bring your dog for a grooming go elsewhere. I specifically asked for a service. I picked up my dog thinking everything is fine and few days later, I realize the service wasn't done. Called to get the situation fixed and was told to come in. I arrive and I'm told they can't do it. Management is incompetent and rude.

The best service! I walked in and asked where a certain product was and the person told me where to go and she have someone meet me there. The person was waiting for me as soon as I got to the place I was directed to go. I was in and out of there in within 5 min in which I was so thankful for because I was on my lunch break

Mister loves getting groomed here. He may not be the biggest fan of the dryers however Hemp products have him shiney and smelling great for days. He is always relaxed, I can tell by hos ears and they always make a big fuss. Just to boost his ego Im sure! I mean look at this guy, I trust Misters grooming to PetSmart!

Didn't realize that Petsmart doesn't price match Amazon advertised products but to my surprise, the manager was nice enough to proactively grant me a one time exception. That's great customer service and given that she never had to do this, I truly appreciated it! I'll definitely come back to this store from now on.

Lately (past 6 weeks or so) inventory and selection seems low. Seems like PetSmart is really pushing people to order online and pick up in store. This really sucks when you really need an item just before leaving out of town. Staff has also been less attentive compared their excellent service Nov 2019-June 2020.

Bought some supplies online for my pets and ordered them through curbside pickup, which gives you an additional 15% discount. I checked in as I arrived and the staff member came out less than a minute later with my purchases and was kind enough to place them in my back seat. She was very pleasant and courteous.

Very large store with surprisingly small selection- figure that out? They didn't have "at that location" 3 out of 4 items I had Petco store-specific coupons for. Very short staffed... Could be great if they stocked less of the same and added more variety and had people actually working in the departments.

People are friendly and helpful. A bit pricey but I know that walking in. They are the only place around that has the selection I want to see in a pet supply store. So I pay for convenience. But I'm also getting great customer service from people who know how to answer questions and care for animals.

They sell snakes and fish. Also some hamsters. I mean its pet supplies. One cool thing is I came in here with my dog and let her go through the dog treat aisle to select what she wanted. It gave her the illusion of choice, but I had to slow her down since she could easily rack up $100 in treats.

They always fit me in for a nail trim, and my psycho beasts are not tamed easily. The staff is so gracious with my little monsters!! I wish there were more deals to be had on food, they don't carry enough varieties in 40lb bags. Maybe that's to keep the food fresh, I don't know.

Came to the store looking for a hamster plus the habitat, food and other essentials. The crew at Petsmart were very helpful. They knew their stuff which made the process quite easy for me. I did end purchasing everything I needed just in bvn time for my daughter's birthday.

The employees here are so nice! They seem to always have the things I need in stock and there's ample assistance if needed. The parking lot here can be crazy since they have to share it with a dollar store and a Walmart but the store is rarely overwhelmingly busy.

This is a great place to shop. We adopted a puppy from their weekend adoption events and it was hassle free. As soon as we adopted her we went into the store to buy all the puppy essentials and all the staff was more then willing to help. Great and friendly staff

This has got to be the worst store they have in San Diego. The only good thing I could say about it, is grooming is okay. I take my pug to get groomed once a month to once every other month. They treat him very well. Take especially good and careful care of him.

The groomers take an interest in the full care of my dog. They offer suggestions and helpful tips. They even pointed out things about my senior dog so that I am aware. I appreciate this partnership. The care shown is appreciated and my dog loves coming here.

Everyone here was so amazingly attentive and helpful! But without being pushy. We didn't even have our adoption papers but they gave us the adoption kit with all the coupons and helpful hints. We were blown away by how willing everyone was to help us out

Great service. I'd recommend this Petsmart. Just had a minor issue where I rented a carpet cleaner and the cashier charged me a late fee, two deposits, and an additional fee on top of that. They refunded me immediately, but I was the one that caught it.

Friendly staff, but limited inventory (I hardly find what I look for) for example: I had a coupon for a promotion of kibble, they did not have any. I needed a dog toy that was only rope. Nope. I needed something for a ride in the car. Didn't have any.

My pup needed grooming service as brushing her teeth was challenging. She is white so dirt was very visible. When I got her she was calm and her overall appearance was great. Too bad it rained days after but her teeth is bright white!

Only place that sells the Timothy hay in individual pods, guinea pig loves that kind (can't remember the brand). Prices are cheaper then other pet stores, restrooms always clean. Don't shop any where else for our pet needs.
