Terrible customer service and treatment of dogs. They need to employ people who aren’t condescending and actually have customer service experience. Manager needs to grow a back bone and train or reprimand employees that act out unprofessionally. This lady at the grooming counter escalated a very minute situation into something that was simply unnecessary. I use to work customer service and this lady should never had gotten that job. I had the documents they wanted but she made a whole row about wanting a specific type of documentation that was never requested by petco themselves. She escalated with a lot of bad attitude instead of de-escalating and being calm. Honestly I walked out on them and quite frankly, after that incident I would never bring my dogs to get groomed there again. If I wasn’t even giving any attitude or anything and the groomers are already that “hyped with attitude” imagine what they do to your pets if they “act out” from discomfort. I had previous incidents with petco grooming that I was willing to overlook involving my dogs. But today was the last straw. I got a mobile grooming the same day of this incident. It’s worth the extra $30 for no headache and disrespect. Such a shame, I have spent thousands of dollars (at least 30k) in this petco alone over the years and they lost a customer from terrible customer service

First two grooming sessions went fine. However, on October 8th, our grooming appointment got cancelled because the groomer did not show up. Other associate says he put a note on our profile to give us 50% off for next appointment. So finally, on November 4th (after a month of waiting), our poor dog came home with a chipped rugged front left paw nail that was overly cut to the point that it is about to bleed. Mine you, another associate brought our dog out at the time of pick up. Groomer did not mentioned anything nor even acknowledge us. Now, on our 4th day after grooming and our dog showing anxiety and unusual behavior which we can only associate with the grooming that happened 4 days prior. Who knows what else must've happened during session. I'm just saying, not worth it anymore with the trauma and the money. We did NOT get any discount which was promised. Still civil enough to tip, but common, if you are not happy with animals, please choose a different career. To the execs or admins, how to resolve this problem? Perhaps, look at the staff too and see if they are unhappy or uncared for as well.

Honestly 2 stars is probably generous of me to be giving. After a dozen or so experiences at this location and never once even being acknowledged by a store associate, I can safely say this store has some of the worst service I've experienced among pet shops in SF. If you've done your homework and are 100% sure of what it is you're buying, and know that they have it in stock, then you'll be fine to go here. If, however, you require any sort of assistance or are looking for advice, do yourself a favor and either go to another pet store or talk to an expert on one of the pet supply companies online, because even if you're able to get help at this store, my experience has been that they lack the product knowledge to be helpful in making a decision. The cashwrap experience has always been pleasant and I've never had a problem price matching their competition, so that's where the two stars are earned, but in general don't expect much in the way of customer service from this store.

I don’t know how they do it but this store actually smells good! How can a pet store smell like a candle store? We got our dog groomed here while visiting because Petco keeps our pets’ records online so we can go to Petco grooming no matter what state we are inane not have to carry shot records with us. Very convenient. This is one of the best Petco stores we have ever been in. Super clean store with friendly helpful staff. Even the restrooms were clean! We were able to make an appointment for grooming the same day we called. The groomer was excellent! She was so sweet with our dog and did a great With a full service grooming for our dog. There is a park across from the Plaza which is great after your dog has been at the groomers for a few hours. We rode the bus to get there and it was very convenient with a bus stop at each corner of the plaza plus one across the street by McDonald’s. The plaza has a grocery store and several restaurants including Togo’s and Smashburger.

Nice place and good customer service. However when we got hamster cage there, the associate was nice for telling us that we could get a discount out of it because 1. the box was damaged 2. he told us there were some parts missing. When we went up to the register, the manager there named Michael doubled checked if there were missing parts and said "NO" there wasn't so I had to pay fully and believing him in so throughout the day. When I got home and tried to build the cage, I was pretty mad about how the top of the cage is cracked and the water bottle cap that comes with the set was missing. Overall I hated it how especially the manager there lied to me. FYI the pictures of the bottom of the cage is cracked, I patched it with black tape. I was able to unpatched the black tape on top of the cage and you could see the cracked but I didn't want to unpatched it more because I don't want to break it.

I made an appointment online weeks in advanced for a dog grooming. The day of my appointment, a representative called me and informed me that the person scheduled to groom my dog needed to clock out at 4:00 pm and could not hold my 2:00 pm appointment. I asked the representative why Petco offered the 2:00 pm if they cannot honor it, and she said that I made the appointment online and the time I chose was inconvenient for them. The representative was very rude and blamed me for the scheduling error, so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager came on and gave me a completely different excuse about the AC not working and rescheduled me for the same exact time the next day. The next day, I received a text message from Petco stating that they needed to reschedule my appointment again. I called back and no one picked up the phone. I will never go back to this store again.

Great, well, stocked store and discounts at the register if the app price is lower, as well as great helpful staff. Its layout is a bit, I dunno, difficult to find things at times. The helpfulness of the staff appeases my consternation and confounded helplessness. I wish I didn't need to buy a two case package of science diet kitten food for over $44 and could buy only one case. My kitten's galloping like a monkey or small horse into his terrible teens - I have the scratch marks on my legs to prove it. Maybe if I fed him more he'd not try to eat me. Hmm. This great store has never been busy as I shop exclusively on evenings and weekends. Ps I want to buy all the finches and release them into the wild but I'd never do that to birds born into captivity.

This particular Petco needs to do better on training their employees to be all inclusive. Every time I come in there being a woman of color the security guard automatically locks eyes with me. From there on it just feels like he's waiting to catch me stealing something. It's really offencive. Whenever I lie go down and everytime I look up he's looking at me no one else. Other than that, they are a little high priced as far as washing the dogs. I have a little tiny Chihuahua they wanted $40 bucks. It was too steep for my pockets. Needless to say Gidget got a bath at home that day, but she did get a lot of new toys and dresses. I think I'll be branching out and seeking a different establishment to care for my dog's needs and Grooming.

Staff left me on hold for nearly twenty minutes and after thinking I hung up, proceeded to pick up the phone yet all they did was giggle and talk trash about the guests, making fun of them (this included the store manager). The groomers also hurt my puppies while in for a nail trim and lied to my face about it. I heard and saw her screams from the loud storefront all the way inside the grooming area and blood stopper being applied to multiple nails which they laughed to me about as she came out and subsequently denied she was actually harmed after I got upset. To finalize the horrible experience, they charged me for two services I didn’t receive last time and yet to fix that.

I came here a mess. I was running late. My dog hadn’t been groomed in at least six months, and I was cutting it close to my next meeting for the day. Tiffany did me a SOLID. Not only was she super cool and reassuring about my embarrassing tardiness, she got me out in a jiff and gave my dog an AMAZING haircut. I’m so happy with the results. She followed my rushed and chaotic requests to the “tee.” I couldn’t be happier and my dog is still handsome despite losing a good 3 LBS of hair. It’s rare we walk away from grooming feeling this satisfied. Tiffany really impressed me. I will definitely be back! Thank you, Tiffany!!!

The location has a lot of parking considering there are several other recognized businesses at this shopping center. It normally has a security guard at the door and hand sanitizer. I like this location because it feels relatively clean, and stocked well. I can go to this store with the expectation that I will find the products we're looking for. We usually get the refillable litter, premium litter, and cat food Wholehearted brand. The workers are efficient at the registers, and helpful. I like how the store is next to Decathlon, because I like popping my head in there to pick up some outdoor items.

This place is in a rough location. Clearly undermanaged and under staffed. The employees there are great once you find one though. This is one of two stores that sell live mice. Just dont bother calling to see if they have those mice in stock much like every other understaffed retail business they just say "Yeah come on in" but when you get there they are out of stock. Happened twice so far and yeah I get it overworked underpaid underappreciated and busy. I hope the employees know they are appreciated by us customers though. 3 stars for the store and location 5 stars for the employees so 4 stars.

This Petco is okay. It has all the necessities, but has a lot of room for improvement. SOME VISITOR TIPS: - Their grooming department does not accept appointments within 1 hour of closing, EVEN if they are bookable online. - Extra services like Nail Trim without a Bath, are available for $10 upon walk in and availability. They are often short staffed and can’t accept nail trims, so come when it is not busy or near closing. - Their dog harness collection is very sad and often completely off the shelf in a sad pile at the bottom. The collars for small dogs can be hard to come by as well.

This is really great place for animal lovers. Their vets are awesome and they helped me out when I didn't have the money to get my puppy his shots. Their groomers are fantastic with the animals and do a good job. They have a bargain bin of toys and leashes, et cetera. Last, but not least.... There's a Safeway, Ross, B of A, Togo's, MetroPCS, and several other eateries and shots within a hundred yards of the store so it's a one stop shopping experience. It's also only a few blocks from SFGH if you've got any medical appointments to take care of. I highly recommend the place.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The store had a really good selection to choose from. My main complaint is it can be difficult to navigate because of narrow aisles and some poor layout designs in the last remodel - it's like an obstacle course. They finally figured out their checkout line was a disaster and reconfigured that. On my most recent visit, there had been a pet accident that they simply covered with paper towels and placed a caution sign. How about you just clean it up and be done rather than expecting customers to navigate around it (again, narrow aisles)!

The staff here ROCKS and it’s truly a one stop shop for all your needs. Special shout out to Maxine who is super knowledgeable and genuinely cares for her pup students and their parents. All her tips have been really helpful. She makes the best treat recommendations too (Mooli loves his ice cream) and doesn’t unnecessarily try to force products on you. You know if she recommends something, it really works! We trust and love her! Even though Petco is a big chain, it doesn’t feel like it because of the warmth of the folks there. Truly makes our life easy!

The staff were extremely friendly. There were not carts and I was buying a lot of heavy stuff. Even the security guard offered to help me while I was shopping! They let me stack my stuff by the counter and then a very nice young man helped me bring everything to my car. And they did not make me feel like it was a bother. He was polite and friendly and gave me a sincere farewell as he left my car. I was frustrated in the beginning due to no carts, but the team totally made up for it. Very nice experience. Thank you!

I purchased a baby guinea pig for the family and we already had a great adult female everyone loved Nickie and she was pregnant at the time I put the new baby in her house he was continually sneezing but I didn't think about it over about a week she started getting sick miss carried her babies and died a couple of days later all because Petco sells sick guinea pigs two of my neighbors had also purchased baby guinea pigs and they both died they were sick as well

It was extremely busy and one poor guy operating the cash registering multitasking 20 other things he was good. He was efficient he kept this cool he had everything running smoothly I didn't get his name but he was doing great the unfortunate thing was he wasn't getting paid anywhere near what he should have he maintained a very cheerful and courteous demeanor to all the customers. I'd seen him assist while there and that was quite a few.

Don’t use grooming services. They gave my dog a haircut that makes her look sickly and the cuts are uneven and there are clumps of hair near her neck when I brushed her out so there was no matting before I dropped her off. First four pictures are what they did to her and the last two are what she normally looks like for comparison. I also dropped her off at 12:30 and then they weren’t finished until 5:20. What are they doing back there?

Great assortment and variation of pet needs, pet goods, and ample choice options make this store a one-stop shop for a checklist of necessities. I appreciate the availability of pet care options and amenities for likes of fish, exotic pets, and cats or dogs. The variety in food options alone make the place a worthwhile shopping experience for pet owners. I purchased kool-aid type food flavoring powder for dog food.

I'd recommend a different Petco location for grooming. One time they canceled my appointment without contacting me, another time they canceled my appointment halfway through the the session and gave my dog back half groomed. They didn't charge me, which was nice, but I have to wait like 2 weeks to go back so they can finish the job. Like a 50% chance you'll be able to pay someone money to groom your dog here.

It bugs me when a store has no expedited process to allow pickup of an online order. They have one register open, and a line of 5-6 customers waiting for checkout. Then to make matters more frustrating, the rep at the checkout counter didn’t know the process for online order pickups and had to call to get someone else for help. It would have been faster to NOT place my order online before picking up in-store

I usually am in-and-out of the store because although the security guy is super nice I usually feel like he thinks I'm gonna steal something from there. The 1st time I went in there after having moved back to the city a couple years will he followed me around the store. It's not as bad now, but who wants to go into a store feeling like people think they're going to steal from there? Not me.

Please DO NOT take your pet here. I wish I could give 0 stars to this store. - Our pet was so scared and petrified after the grooming session that he was acting very isolated. - His hair all over the body were cut way more than we expected - They did not cut his har until 4.5 hours after we dropped him for this appointment time. Why would you keep such absurd appointment times?

Good location for me, I stop there to get my dog a treat or something fun when I go to the grocery store nearby. They seem to be always improving the quality of their products, they offer almost everything you can get elsewhere in terms of high quality food. I like the bargain bin to get a little toy or new ball for my pet, since I know I will be confronted when I return home!

The worst grooming service for my 8 months puppy, that was his first time. I took him there and they instead of taking him to a bath, shave my baby with the number 0 and then washed him. She told me I should not be there. They charge me $80 for the bad service. My puppy got depressed after that, he doesn't eat or play. Never go there again. See the before and after pictures

They recently redid this petco and it's a real big improvement. I enjoy my shopping experience when I go here. The employees and nice and knowledgeable and they are always willing to help. I also love seeing all the dogs that people bring into the store. I wish they had a bigger area for the adoptable cats, but I understand there is only so much space to work with.

This place is fine. There is ample parking and the prices are fair. The staff seems friendly enough. For some reason, though, they did not call me when my pup was ready to be picked up following her being groomed. We had to go get her on our own (no need to call, we live close by). So I'd say maybe their communication could improve, but everything else was great.

Rearranged interior, fairly nice and practical set-up. Supplies (perishable live feeders) generally the same as lately which is highly improved since before virus restrictions. Don't have to wait for delivery day anymore, and the quality of live foods for reptiles, all are above standard now. Same goes for aquarium equipment and swimming beings.

Groomer Tiffany came demotivated and late to an 8am appointment. No customer service. She did not do a puppy face haircut as requested and messed up the ears of our dog and also shaved his behind off like a monkey butt. She did not even go over anything when we picked him up. Despite a good tip and over $100, not worth it. She showed no passion or care.

This store always has half empty shelves, total hit & miss if they’ll have the product I need. There is also almost always someone in the store attempting to steal something-and I’m not one of those NIMBY’s, but mentioning this so you know to keep your handbags on your person/don’t leave your valuables in your cart as you’re shopping the store.

Joseph did an amazing job on Marley! My favorite cut he’s had in a while :) There were some issues with the time, but it was quickly sorted out. When you come, make sure Jospeh takes care of your furry pal! He’s friendly and you can definitely see from his work that he pays great attention to detail and makes sure you doggy is looking cute!

It's your every day pet store, nothing special. The last time I was in there i was trying to find a leash and harness for my puppy. I had to leave empty handed cuz the shelves were almost empty. They didn't even have a lead I could buy for him. If you are going to get something specific, call ahead first, make sure they have it in stock.

good selection of fish, hamsters and budgerigars. all aquariums and animal cages are perfectly clean, all animals are fed and calm. the staff is friendly and helps to resolve any issue, as well as the store staff give good advice on keeping, feeding and caring for animals. I bought myself a guinea pig in this store and I am very happy.

I really like this Petco. The employees are all very friendly and helpful. They usually have the brands I need in stock. And they recently opened up a vet service that I haven't tried yet but am looking for the full-scale services. My one suggestion would be to improve the lighting. It looks so dark so it seems gloomy.

Been working on getting my place setup for my second cat arrival and was helped out a ton by Dakota. He gave me some great tips about possible toys for kittens, litter box suggestions, and also how best to acclimate a new cat into another cats home! First time I took my dog to trim his nails went great. I went today to trim his nails again and the groomer had an attitude. My dog is afraid of big dogs and gets anxious, and she didn't do much to help the situation. Never coming back, not even to buy food. I'm really upset at the customer service.

Turned up to find they canceled my appointment (after traveling 40mins from the other side of the city) without so much of a notification. Guy at counter simply looked up and said your groomer is out, your appointment canceled. No apology offered whatsoever. Awful service and lack of care. Avoid.

I had an online return along a mixup regarding items accidentally left behind. The manager James was very helpful, and after going out of his way to review the video on the day in question, was able to verify that the items were left in the store. Therefore getting us a return for the items.

Slowly being strangled to death by Amazon. The store is in disarray. Mostly sells commodities. Things like medicines and health related items are always in low stock if any are there at all. When you do find something there it's always double or triple the price of what you'll find online.

This store is in utter disarray. There are carts and boxes everywhere, and there is no staff to be found. I kept bumping into things as I tried to dodge customers and their pets. It also smells terrible. Why is there a GIANT kitty litter box? A sample box doesn’t need to be that size.

Poor customer service from cashier and groomers. Clearly no manager at the store. Grooming appt was at 2pm eventually got my puppy back close to 7pm he was insanely thirsty and needed to pee. Groomer said i didnt have to pay, but that’s not the solution. So much training needed here.

Came here to shop for a betta. Not too many varieties but walked away with one that's pretty active. All the fish I explored are in well condition in their containers and healthy. Not too many debris spotted in their temp homes so that's a very good sign that they are taken care of.

It's a big warehouse store that carries variety of brands. Be sure to check petco online pricing as they match prices and usually will save you quite a bit! The vet clinic opens on the weekends that is super convenient to get your pets shots they need .

My initially scheduled appointment was with Stacy, who did not come in. So, next day Mary-Ann took my Morky dog, Baby, for hair grooming, full service, and did excellent job despite she was very busy with her own clients. I am very satisfied and grateful to her. Thanks

Had a great grooming experience for my two little dogs. They really needed their nails done and the young lady took us as a walk in a little over thirty minutes before closing. She did a great job and was professional as well as personable. Really pleasant experience.

Not many product but cool selection of glow fish and smaller animals. Food section is well supplied and many choices. The employees are rude though, if im being 100. I feel like the staff should have a better outlook and attitude when dealing with customers

I love this pet store. It's pretty big and has all sorts of cool things for your pet. They have a big variety of dog jackets that I like to go check out. My dog Prince loves coming with me and picking out yummy treats that aren't that expensive.

You cant take the shopping cart out of the store, so don't plan on buying anything heavy. The shelves are hit-and-miss, whatever you want may be cleared out but if you go searching on the stockpiles randomly left around - you may find it.

I have the Vital Care program and always have a good experience when getting my dogs nails trimmed and teeth brushed. The groomers are always pleasant and efficient. I especially like being able to book an appointment on the Petco app.

Seems like they r out of stock on almost everything rite now. But I think that is the case with most places since the COVID-19. Wasn't able to get a harness for my little dog as there were none available. I'll try back in a few days.

I went here yesterday and all the pets seemed depressed. They all very little space for themselves or multiple of them were packed into to small of a cage. Then they had betta fishes in plastic bags. I'll not be going here again.

Unless you go there half an hour before closing you have to wait a long time to buy anything. they only have one clerk and the lines go on and on. Some of the customers are the type that waste a lot of time with the clerk

Our family wanted to get into the hobby of having a home aquarium. We are complete novices. Jason at this Petco gave us plenty of tips and really sound advice. This Petco didn't feel like a "box store" at all.

They called and cancelled my grooming appointment because my dog was old, 2 hours before the appointment that was booked weeks ago. Then they just rudely hung up.

Left dog in crate for 4-5 hrs and didn’t start Grooming services till much later. Didn’t get a call so went to check and that’s when they started dog’s haircut.

This store is also a Return center for a group of catalog/online clothing vendors I was there to return things. Staff were helpful and efficient.

After being a customer for over 3 years, I would never go back again to this pet store. The new manager Barabara was extremely racist with us.

A rather dark, warehouse-y store, with a limited cat section. There was a long line, and a couple of barking dogs.

Anytime you come in here it’s basically a 30 minute wait. Each checkout somehow takes 5 minutes.
