I love this place and I really could not recommend them more. Its VERY obvious that they really care about their animals wellbeing and really prioritize proper animal care education over making money off of someone. I bought a pair of beetles from this place and their terrarium section is SOOO incredibly in depth and their products are super high quality. They have substrate and tank options to mimic different environments from arid desert to humid tropical. They have like maybe 50 different types of heat lamps, UV lights, and heat pad options. They sell feeder mice, live crickets, dubia roaches, hornworms, etc. They also have tons of supplies to make a bioactive terrarium or palidarium for your pet. They sell isopods and springtails to help ensure the health of the bioactive aspect of your tank WHICH I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER PET STORE CARRY!!! EVER!!! Incredible!! They even sell premade and established bioactive terrariums/tanks if you dont have the time or patience to make one yourself and wait for it to establish. If you have a reptile or amphibian they have basically everything you will need to properly take care of them. The only thing I didnt buy from here for my beetles are misc decorations like rocks and bones that I already had at home. I will ABSOLUTELY be back to get more beetles in the future, and especially if I decide to create my own bioactive tank for them, I know I will have TONS of really high quality supplies at my disposal.

This place is everything Portland could ask for in a pet store. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and diverse. They're on-average a good looking bunch of people, too, but that hardly matters beyond adding to an already pleasant experience They have a wide selection of sustainable, natural, organic, and other kinds specialty small mammal food. They have “grab and go“ containers of Dubia roaches, crickets in 3 or 4 sizes, and various grubs and worms ready on the shelf. They also have live isopods and other supplies for vivariums! The cat and dog sections are not as large as box stores sometimes are, but they manage to cram an incredible selection in the space they have. Cool, locally-made cat trees for reasonable prices are displayed along the north wall; I'm not a dog person but it looks like they have cool things for them, too. Supplies for geriatric pets; resources for services and education; the list goes on...

Very nice store. Been there forever and I remember driving by in the 90's and early 2000's when they had birds by the front door and windows. I believe the front door was on the corner back then and not where it is now. I distinctly remember the parrots and ither birds in the windows though. And the crazy time someone shot out the TV/light display board next door over a decade ago. But I never came inside. Now I have a gorgeous Ball python and they have everything i need for her. I'm not sure where they get then but their frozen rats are the best I've found. Excellent staff and they are always friendly. The stored reciept thing (haven't used it) is also a great idea and very convenient if you needed to return anything

My new pet shop. Great selection of items for each pet owner. Bought all my tank and snake supplies here and let me add that the employees are very knowledgeable. I had help choosing the correct lighting and which light dome to use for my tank. Absolutely love that they have live feed here. A lot of people are against live feeding for good and understandable reasons but I myself just prefer the live feed. It's so amusing to see what my little danger noodle does in the face of food the way nature intended. Another point for the staff as well because they're always so friendly when I stop by. They have a wide variety of everything you'd need for your cuddly creatures. (Snek is hidden in log, he's a shy boy)

I've never been so impressed by employees and the environment and t bgg e pets. I bought my daughter a hamster a n.v d they do such a good job with their care for these animals and the staff who take the care of them a priority that you end up with a hamster with a great disposition and personality is friendly. So much so that I got another one for my other daughter and that one was just the same. Trust me there is a difference. Between the petsmart vs this pet in Broadway. I love the care and the advice they give and they even have a rewards program for discounts and such. I highly recommend this pet store over others here In Portland.

We have had a great experience with POB. We have gotten the cutest little guinea pig to add to our herd. We had a situation with her. The store manager worked with us while it got sorted out. They have a wide array of animal products. The cages are clean. They only sell paired guinea pigs, which is best practice. They are feeding a variety of food to them. Staff is super helpful. Store is clean. Highly recommend getting small pets here as well as supplies.

So many things I want to buy for my pets! Great variety for all things pet. There were many toys I wanted to buy for my cat that I’ve seen online before but I like to shop in a physical store so it was wonderful to actually see what size things were and how they felt before deciding to buy. Also they had a great selection for natural/eco friendly toys and treats.

I love this pet store. Great hours. Vast selection of supplies for all types of animals from snakes, lizards, hamsters, dogs, cats, fish the list goes on and on. The best part of this store is the staff. They love pets and love what they do. Helpful and so kind towards the kids and customers. This place is a must visit even if you don’t have a pet.

Friendly, helpful, give coupons and discounts (gave me $5 off for giving them my email), good selection but super expensive. Have to have a lot of money to shop there. Out of my price range. Just go there for a specialty product not something continual like flea med. Go to Mud Bay for their prices. They have almost everything you need.

This store has the best customer service. I called them to check inventory and not only did they answer the phone, but check to make sure it was available. My 50 pounds of aquarium gravel was waiting at the front counter. She even offer to help carry it to my car Can't wait live fish remodel is completed. Only place to shop.

Great store! Once you sign up for an account with them, no need for receipts, which I love. They gave me some coupons and mentioned they also own the plant store across the street. Amazing return policy (although, I’ve never had to use it). Some stuff is pricey but there’s plenty of variety for more affordable products.

Great wide variety and selection of food, toys and treats! Has a section for all pets! Can get a bit crowded at times in the close quarters, but definitely manageable without having my 60lb dog with me haha! Staff is always friendly and welcoming! Great to place to visit if you're in the area!

By far the best pet store in town. Knowledgeable staff, great products and a generous rewards system. I've been shopping here for over ten years and it's still amazing. I am always impressed and grateful for the help I can get here and they clearly have my pet's best interest at heart.

Had everything I needed. Best place to get mealworms, dubia roaches and other pretty stuff. They didn't have super worms when I visited, but their giant mealworms and roaches were super fresh/alive. My bearded dragon loved them.
