The Phoenix Art Museum is a cultural beacon in the heart of Arizona’s capital. As an avid museum-goer, my visit to this institution quite enjoyable. Not the best museum I've ever been too, but worth a visit for sure. The museum boasts an impressive and diverse collection of art that spans across multiple floors, offering a rich tapestry of artistic expressions from various time periods and cultures. One of the museum’s standout features is its well-curated blend of permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent collection includes classical and contemporary works, featuring both renowned international artists and talented local ones. The museum's dedication to showcasing a wide range of art forms, from painting and sculpture to fashion design and photography, ensures that there’s something to intrigue every visitor. The temporary exhibits are equally compelling, often featuring cutting-edge contemporary art that sparks thought-provoking conversations. During my visit, I was particularly captivated by an exhibition that seamlessly blended technology with art, offering an immersive experience that was both educational and visually stunning. The museum's layout is visitor-friendly, with spacious galleries that allow for leisurely viewing without feeling crowded. The lighting and presentation of the artworks are meticulously done, enhancing the overall aesthetic experience. Additionally, the staff at the museum are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, ready to offer insights or assist with any queries. Another highlight of the Phoenix Art Museum is its commitment to community engagement. The museum hosts a variety of educational programs and workshops for all ages, making art accessible and enjoyable for everyone. It’s a fantastic place for families, art enthusiasts, or anyone looking to spend a day immersed in culture. For those who appreciate museum amenities, the museum's gift shop offers a range of unique art-related items, from books to handcrafted jewelry. The on-site café provides a pleasant spot to relax and reflect on the art you’ve just seen, with a selection of light refreshments and beverages. The Phoenix Art Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone in living or visiting Phoenix. Its impressive collections, engaging exhibits, and welcoming atmosphere make it a standout institution in the city's cultural landscape.

The Phoenix Art Museum is a cultural gem in the heart of Arizona, housed within a modern and inviting three-story facility. Its extensive and diverse collection spans a wide range of artistic genres and time periods, making it a captivating destination for art lovers and curious minds. The museum's commitment to fostering a love for art is evident, with engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and special events. What's particularly noteworthy is the opportunity for Bank of America cardholders to enjoy free admission during the first weekend of every month, making art accessible to a broader audience. Overall, the Phoenix Art Museum is a dynamic hub for artistic exploration and cultural enrichment. With its multi-floor layout, diverse artworks, and the generous free admission offer, it easily earns a 5/5 rating. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or simply seeking a cultural adventure, this museum is a must-visit in Phoenix.

I recently visited this museum for the first time in 8 years and I was very impressed with my experience when I came here last week with my family. We came for "pay-as-you-wish" Wednesday, and I was fascinated with all the exhibits and installations; including the miniature rooms, the firefly installation and the James Turrell piece. The museum itself has breathtakingly beautiful architecture and the courtyard area is so peaceful and inviting, especially with the fountain. I am excited to come back in the future to view the exhibits I missed. Highly recommend visiting if you're an art lover or new to the area!

Beautiful museum, lots to see and do, kid friendly with activities for children 0-5 (check website) and wonderful for older children as well. My little completed a scavenger hunt while there and was able to ask the docents questions. They seem to have some spaces under construction and a key exhibit we wanted to see (the reason for our trip, a butterfly exhibit) was down the entire time we were there, so we were unable to see it. They have scheduled tours (check the lobby for times). The gift shop has a variety of gifts at various price points.

The standing exhibits of the museum, especially the European section, are sparse, especially if you travel a lot, but the modern section, the local art, and the special exhibits are worth a 2 hr visit. Not very child friendly, all no touch areas and no scavenger hunt or other kid specific activities that I found on my visit. They have a kids museum guide, but it only features 5 pieces of art in it. It would be great if they expanded this. Entry is free for the military and their families, which was appreciated.

It was a wonderful experience! I brought my niece there for her birthday, she had a blast while we were there. Her favorite was the firefly room! We got the chance to eat at the Pallet which is a restaurant in the museum, that was unfortunately closing down Sunday may 28th as it's last day of the contract with the museum. The food was delicious as well. The staff at both the restaurant and museum were very friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be back for sure!!

My wife and I loved the breadth of the collection this museum offers for its size. They truly have something for everyone. The gallery exhibition with the infinity mirror room was an amazing way to start the tour and each wing had spectacular examples of work of the highest quality level, everything from Alphonse Mucha and Monet to contemporary American artists and much more. This museum is world class and a must see attraction if you enjoy great art presented beautifully. I'd give it bonus stars, but it only lets me give 5 (it deserves 10!)

It has been a few years since my last visit. I had forgotten how wonderful it is! Yes, the building is a bit confusing to walk through, but wandering slows you down and allows for great surprises. Architecturally, the spaces are grand and intimate. Exhibitions work with the appropriate space and great things are created. Definitely wirth a visit. Hopefully the restaurant eill open.

I was in town for a work conference. Had some free time on a Wednesday evening. It worked out perfectly as this is the free night at the museum. This was an incredibly beautiful museum. The layout, the colors and cleanliness will make this a memorable experience. There are elevators if you don't want to walk the numerous stairs. I would highly recommend visiting this museum.

An OUTSTANDING museum experience. To visit this place is to stand in the presence of greatness. O'Keefe, Picasso, Monet.....and so many more. The current exhibit by Amalia Mesa-Bains called Archaelogy of Memory is a stunning display of multimedia mastery. The Thorne miniatures display had me absolutely rapt. I cannot say enough about how important it is for everyone to visit the Phoenix Art Museum.

The architecture is an equal partner in the broad collection of art from the new and old worlds. The western art, both indigenous and from post settlement is especially well represented and worth taking time to explore. We were time constrained and had to rush through, and I recommend at least a couple of hours to allow contemplation.

The Contemporary Art section of the Phoenix Art Museum has a fabulous (huge) space ideal for displaying large pieces. They also have a focus on often under-represented artists, people of color, from the south west. Whole museum is great, but you're if short on time and only see the modern art wing, totally worth it.

Tremendous museum. My favourite was the Mass in the modern art section. They are opening a new restaurant in spring of 2024. Till then there is a limited offering. But eating in the courtyard was great even on December 28th. The firefly exhibit was very engaging and a little bit disorientating if you don’t know what you are walking into.

I went with my aunt and my son and we all had a really great time. The exhibits were beautiful and deep. The staff was friendly and the facilities were clean. My only reason behind the 4 star review is they let us wait in line for the butterfly exhibit and then cut the line off just as we were getting to the front. It would have been nicer for them to have cut it off earlier.

  • Tat R

I went here twice and I loved it the second time. The first time there was an event happening which took away from my experience of seeing the Art. I prefer it being quiet so I can focus on what I see than hearing a lot of things going around me. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a great experience with the variety of exhibits. From Kusama's Infinity Mirror room to the paintings of Arizona landscape by Curtis and the miniature rooms, it was a nice mix. Took me 2 hours at a medium pace to view the permanent collection.

My first time here and I fully enjoyed the experience. Although I was a little let down I didn't know the one exhibit the room of lights was closed, but hopefully if I get to visit again in the winter it'll be open.

Definitely a big museum so you get your money’s worth. I’m not an art expert but there was some interesting pieces but a lot of underwhelming ones. But art is subjective so I would definitely recommend you come check it out if you’re in the area.

If you love art, it’s worth a visit once. Cover several floors and several wings, you could easily spend an hour or two wandering. They have modern art, old art, and even a small sculpture garden. The building itself is a work of art.

Not the greatest collections of art pieces but the fashion collection and miniature houses are interesting. Love especially got invited by a group of curators who are practicing how to understand a painting by a Cuban artist. More

I had the opportunity to photograph an event at their venue space. It was so elegant and adaptive to the vibe the planners envisioned. It's a great venue. Parking was also accommodative to the amount of guests at the event.
