Our journey with Marco Secchi in October 2023 was an absolute pleasure, and I cannot speak highly enough of Mr. Secchi and the incredible experience we had. We set up three times with Marco, one afternoon and one morning before 7am, and one morning after 7am. Our group consisted of (3) Chinese Americans. My 88-year-old father, an award winning black and white medium format traditional photographer who had never been to Europe, along with my cousin and myself - two women in our forties. My father, while mobile, required frequent breaks to avoid any strain or injury, yet his passion was to explore Venice's beauty and capture its unique essence on film. There are several exceptional qualities and aspects of our experience with Marco Secchi that truly stood out: Attention to Detail and Pre-planning: Our communication with Marco spanned a couple of months before our trip. Finding a photojournalist with an intimate knowledge of Venice, capable of identifying the best spots, understanding optimal lighting, and considering the temperament and limitations of an 88-year-old, was crucial. Marco demonstrated exceptional foresight and planning. Flexibility, Adaptability, and Personalized Guidance: Marco's approach was incredibly flexible, offering various options each day based on weather conditions and my father's energy levels. His guidance was not just about showing spots but understanding my father's preferences and catering to them. His warmth, humor, and professionalism were apparent in dealing with even the most particular customers (aka, my dad). Patience and Thoughtfulness: Marco exhibited unwavering patience and kindness towards my demanding father. He prioritized breaks, snacks, and whatever else my father needed as necessary and provided invaluable recommendations for accommodations, restaurants, and places to find gourmet foods. His suggestions were not only appreciated but greatly enjoyed. Visiting Venice entails a significant amount of walking, and even at 88, my father covered up to 13,500 steps per day. Marco's expertise and guidance were invaluable in uncovering the hidden gems of Venice. I also believe that his culture openness, positive attitude, and vast global experience made my father truly comfortable. His service and commitment truly made our trip extraordinary, and I cannot express enough gratitude or give a stronger recommendation for his exceptional services. Marco Secchi, without a doubt, transformed our trip into an unforgettable experience. Advice: book him early!

I will start with a disclaimer, I have never been inclined to write a review, and, hence, I never have. However, my experience with Marco Secchi warrants an enthusiastic review. In communicating with Marco, I found that he really listened to what I wanted to accomplish while we were together. Specifically, I wanted to focus on black and white photography, and to develop a better eye for evaluating compositions worthy of a black and white photo. I also wanted to explore photographic opportunities off of the beaten path. Over several days, we explored a number of locations and along the way discussed photographic options, why a specific black and white image would be superior to one in color, as well as approaches for identifying opportunities for black and white images. Now several days past my time with Marco, I find myself looking beyond “good light” and exploring tonalities which may yield an interesting black and white composition/photo. This is resulting in a number of exceptional black and white photos to compliment my color photos. So to Marco I say, grazie mille! In addition to his insights on photography, it is important to clearly state that Marco is personable and a wonderful guide, often providing context to the locations that we visited from a historical point of view and his experiences growing up in Venice. In conclusion, I would love to find an opportunity during my next visit to Venice to again walk, talk and photograph with Marco, I enjoyed our time together. I highly recommend Marco Secchi as a photographic guide regardless of your skill level and photo tour goals.

I would like to share briefly my experience of the tours with Marco Secchi. We had decided for a photo tour with him through Venice and already booked this tour about 4-5 months in advance. The communication via email went smoothly and it was very nice to see that he mostly answered us within a few minutes and responded to questions and requests optimally. Then the tour came slowly closer and we agreed shortly 1 day before still concrete to meeting place and time. We deliberately wanted to book a tour in the morning hour (blue hour) and punctually at the appointed time we met. Marco understands his craft excellently and could show us in the course of the tours very many beautiful motifs and photo locations. Yes, here it pays off that Marco knows his city perfectly, as well as the sun position at the various locations at different times. Since we are not photographic beginners and can already use our camera it was not necessary for Marco to show us additional settings for the best photo on the camera. But I am sure: if someone needs that, Marco will be very happy to help. In addition to the photo locations, Marco also explained to us during the tour about the history and people of Venice - it was very entertaining and enjoyable. We enjoyed the tour very, very much and have fun and we recommend him and his offered tours unreservedly very happy. Thank you Marco for the tour - there were mega beautiful photos for the memory. Best regards, Alexandra and Matthias from Lake Constance.

Marco Secchi's photography workshop in Venice is an excellent experience for anyone looking to improve their photography skills. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore and capture the beauty of Venice through the lens of a camera. The instructor, Marco Secchi, is a highly skilled photographer and an excellent teacher. He provides clear and concise instructions, as well as hands-on guidance and feedback throughout the workshop. The workshop covers a wide range of topics, including composition, lighting, and post-processing, and is suitable for photographers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. The 1-2-1 ensures that each participant receives individual attention and has the opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback. Overall, the workshop is a fantastic way to spend time in Venice and come away with stunning photos and a deeper understanding of photography. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in photography and travel.

We just returned from Venice and our third workshop with Marco. Our previous excursions were his classic walking tours which were really excellent! This trip we took his sunrise workshop. His advice and help getting our cameras set up, gave us some terrific photos as memories of this trip. As much fun as the photography, was the coffee breaks and interesting discussions, he knows the best places. If you are interested in anything photography related in Venice, Marco is the one to see. I even went out one evening and got some more terrific photos using the advice I got from him. We will be coming back to Venice, and we will definitely be looking at another of Marco's Workshops! Thanks Marco! Steve and Lucia

We were fortunate to experience a photowalk with Marco a few years ago and we were really looking forward to another and Marco did not disappoint. It was again an excellent experience. Being a Venetian, Marco has local knowledge to show us areas of this beautiful city where we would not normally go, or that even existed. His guidance and tuition on how to capture the essence of Venice and improve our photography in general was the excellent. Furthermore, Marco has the most gentle and humble character and he is a joy to spend time with. I cannot recommend Marco highly enough. Next time we are in Venice, or another city Marco provides his photowalks, we will definitely be booking again.

We have twice enjoyed Photography Workshops with Marco; once with our children, in 2017, and then as a couple in 2023 - both times in Venice. Marco is a marvellous guide. He is generous with his time, patience and expertise and has many fascinating stories to share, plus a local's knowledge of the wonders of Venice. I have been able to take some lovely photos under Marco's guidance and he has drawn my eye to fresh ideas to capture a scene, a landmark, a moment. We highly recommend Marco's Photography Workshops and Tours; they have been a holiday highlight and we look forward to the next time we are in Venice to introduce our friends to his tour.

Very good experience with Marco Secchi during 3 days in Venice. Marco is a nice person, knowing perfectly the city and so, its most secret corners. We were two persons, my wife and myself, with two different levels and different expectations about subject to capture. Marco has always sought to adapt. He offered us many options, from early Blue hour pictures to the visit of others island during these 3 days. He showed attention to details and full availability. Moreover, he gives details about the city, its story... which makes the experience even more interesting. A true moment of happiness !

Marco was truly a master. Both photography and Venice. Since he literally knows every corner of Venice and every artisan, it was easy for him to show me the real Venice of Venice. He showed me unique spots that most people don't know about. Marco not only helped to take perfect pictures, I learned a lot from him - which I can't use just in Venice. Marco was very friendly and spontaneous - he created a tour that was just perfect for me. I would be happy to do another tour with Marco - as there are so many beautiful places to discover in Venice

This was the most amazing part of my vacation. Marco was such a great guide and showed me and my family the authentic side of Venice. I am a college student studying photography and I had so much fun learning from him - he was personable, helpful, and so patient. He was clearly very passionate about what he was doing and I got some of the best photographs I have ever taken during his session. Thank you for everything, Marco!! Absolutely recommend doing this tour if you have the chance!

My sister, niece and I had a tour of Venice with Marco. It was the highlight of our trip. He's such a fun and interesting person, we could listen to his stories forever. His knowledge of the city and his eye for incredible photography was amazing. Plus getting to experience a local coffee shop with Marco was an extra treat. If you can only do one thing in Venice I would recommend taking a photo tour with Marco. I would give him 10 stars if possible.

Wonderful experience! Marco passionately guided us through the breathtaking beauty of Sestrieri and Venice on a photography tour of the highest level. Among the places I admired the most: the Palazzo Zenobio, the Church of San Niccolò dei Mendicoli, the Rialto fish market, and the Arsenale attractions. The unique photographic location and Marco's experience is an opportunity to grow for every photography enthusiast ... absolutely recommended!

This was the second time we used Marco for a photography tour of Venice. Being born and raised in Venice he knows all the back alleys/streets to avoid most crowds. Marco also knows the perfect lighting conditions for all his favorite photo spots. Marco is super kind and a pleasure to be with. Whether you’re a professional or novice photographer you will not be disappointed with Marco. Mike D Lakewood Ranch, FL

We spent a wonderful morning with Marco. He took us to some of his favorite spots around Venice and coached us on our photography skills. He helped with camera settings, composition, and what goes into taking a great picture. Not only is he an awesome photographer but he is a truly nice man. He also has encyclopedic knowledge of Venice and it's history. The time with Marco was the highlight of our trip!

Waking up early and meeting Marco before dawn was the highlight of our time in Venice. He provided wonderful photographic instruction but even more valuable was his sharing his intimate knowledge of the city and its history. Marco is a warm, generous, and kind human being and we loved every minute of our four hours with him. Don’t hesitate to book this wonderful experience.

Marco is absolutely a gem of a person. He is generous, patient and talented. He also provides extremely interesting information about the history of Venice during his tour. We got so much more from this tour besides the memorable photos that will be displayed in our home :). He brought the city to life. Take this tour - you will not be disappointed!

  • R Scheler

If you want to find the great but hidden spots in Venice, Marco is the best choice. He grew up there and so he is able to tell you a story linked to the places. He always supports you at exactly the level you need. But he also gives you room (if needed) to make your own pictures. All in all a great experience I can easily recommend.

I absolutely recommend a walking tour of Venice with Marco Secchi!! He truly is a gifted photographer and storyteller!! I feel like I got to see a side of Venice that I had never seen before and was able to take incredible pictures that I can't wait to print and frame so I can hang them in my home.

  • Grace Lomax

The time we spent with Marco was magical and a joy. My daughter learnt so much about how and why to use various aspects of a digital camera and I learnt all about Venice. It was an absolute high light of our week in Venice.

  • Ron Alpert

Terrific! Marco knew the islands intimately. He took us places without tourists and showed us out-of-the way sites. I'd definitely recommend his services. When we go to Hungary we're going to look him us!
