I work for the company and love it...I enjoy and take pride in being able to serve the public I always try to have a friendly disposition that's welcoming to people but some days there's that one person who puts you in a funk and it takes time to pull yourself together just about everyone I encountered is a loyal customer to us and I try to make their experience easy and quick so they can get back to work or whatever they're off to do. But then there are days I have no tolerance for the ignorance of people that expects us to know how to do everything without problems...I don't let people harass me, my coworkers,or other people in the store or call anyone out their name these actions of a person are unnecessary stress added on so that is when I lose my composure and tell the customer there's no need to be rude and disrespectful towards me or anyone else because my coworker didn't understand what you said or want on the lottery machine or did and just doesn't know how to get the report you want,we only get on average 16hrs of training time for a new employee to acquire as much information as possible to perform tasks on their own what shift duties are to be completed daily during the shift worked plus the lottery and someone may not get fully trained on the different reports that we can run and everything else we can do on the machine. Being a convenience store sales associate is not easy at all if that's what you thought I am assuring you it's difficult, there's tons of rules and regulations we have to follow and always have to stay aware of who what is going on in the store at all times even when you're helping another customer check out and always be alert to any possible threats we may encounter at any time but then we are also very trained on the do's and don'ts in performance on the job. As for me I enjoy working at store and have a enjoyable time while I'm there, joking and conversation with customers about various topics everyday and I sick it all up and smile and tolerate the rudeness of some. At the end of the day I just remember that it's just another day in Plaid paradise and no one can keep you in a funk because you have a choice to be or not to be.

Ever since I can remember, this Lloyd District Plaid Pantry store has just been a lousy store to shop in. Mainly it's the employees ( isn't it always ?) There are two that look alike - though I'm almost sure they are not related and that both of them would not like being likened to the other. Well one of them is pretentious, rude and noticeably unfriendly to everyone. The other one is not so much rude per say as he is just a complete lump. A dud. The kind of guy you cringe at the thought of him doing anything super important because he'd be the first one to admit he's probably gonna mess it up. And he does. The rest of the employees at this location never last long enough to be noteworthy. Also this Plaid Pantry store has a perpetually broken front door. I personally would bet that it's a direct result of the employee's way of treating those who are currently without a house. They yell at them, refuse to serve them and keep changing their bottle return policy almost daily as far as what time they start/stop accepting bottle returns and how many is the limit. I can imagine spending a big chunk of my day avoiding committing crime and panhandling to earn an honest wage by collecting bottles and cans only to trek them all the way to this store just to be told that they are no longer accepting bottles for that day. Usually no good reason and definitely taunting the person returning them. And then they close the doors at 10pm - 7am. Making one order thru a tiny window. Very inconvenient. Boo Lloyd District Plaid Pantry ! Do better ! I know you can if you really try.

The plaid pantry on 12th and morrison se has the worst manager and one awful employee with a few extra nice employees. The manager accuses everyone of stealing and the awful short poofy haired girl that works there is like the managers little ankle biting yippy chauaua who likes to accuse everyone of doing drugs and in my opinion this is the absolute worst plaid pantry in all the land! The cool, helpful employees have to work extra hard and be extra nice to make up for the the 2 that either know absolutely nothing about customer service or just don't care at all about making customers happy and I'm thinking they love to insult customers which blows my mind!!!! I feel so bad for the 2 or 3 decent humans that work there cleaning up the damn managers mess to keep good honest custo.ers coming back! That has to be exhausting!!!! Avoid the plaid at 12th and morrison if possible but if not go at night and tip the employees extra good! The yippy chauaua with hideous poofy hair and coke bottle granny glasses and her paranoid schizophrenic boss typically work days. Avoid them at all cost unless you enjoy being wrongfully judged and insulted while you spend your hard-earned money then stick to days for sure!

When I first arrived the doors were Chained and locked this would give you a heads-up on the activity in the area however after a short investigation I realize that the night clerk was taking a break and cleaning the parking lot for just a few minutes and the padlocks were removed and the chains put away this convenience store is 24/7 and returns bottles and cans one of the few places in Portland that will accept bottle returns in the early a.m. if you're hard up for some gas money you can stop here for five bucks remember be kind courteous and clean so that they will continue to accept bottle returns this feature is and can be a lifesaver thanks Plaid Pantry Just like to plug the night guy I was hard up for gas money I turned some cans in and he gave me a dollar out of his own pocket wow Portlandia was looking out for me thanks night guy

I love going here they ALWAYS have great deals going on!! Yeah the customer service isn’t that great but look what they have to deal with daily the homeless going in and just taking what’s not there’s. I went in with my 2 yr old son and instead of a purse I carried a backpack diaper bag and they didn’t like that and watched me the whole time but like I said look what they have to deal with. The homeless ask for cigarettes when you walk out with a brand new pack so I suggest put them away before you hit that sidewalk otherwise they will be asking for a smoke. OMG how could I almost forget to mention next door there is this AMAZING donuts and bagel coffee place YOU HAVE TO TRY IT IF YOU MEVER HAVE. I wish I could remember the name of the little bakery . So good!! So fresh!!

I tried to pick some things up from the store and there was someone with dreads/twists inside the store smoking. The person stepped out and stood in front of the door and as I tried to enter, he shoulder checked me and said “hey I’m smoking”. Come to find out, he’s the store clerk. Are you kidding me? Are these the type of employees you have representing your store?! You don’t physically push someone trying to enter and the fact that an employee was smoking inside was not ok. If you have to lock up to take a break, I totally understand, but communicate that. NOT put your hands on people!

  • Dub Luggy

WOW, you know how to pick some terrible employees. I was on my way to work about 3:30am Friday 3/31/23 and whoever the guy was working was high and/or drunk. Slurring words, couldn’t stop swaying and he couldn’t open his eyes for more than 10 seconds at a time. It took like 10-15 minutes just to get 1 item. Terrible experience, you’re better off walking a little further and go to Jackson’s instead. I would give 0 stars if possible.

  • Allen Butera

There is a woman who works there that provides absolutely horrible service in all ways possible. I can't believe they would even have a person with this kind of attitude working at a job where customer service is her only job. Definitely never returning to that plaid pantry. P.S. only the woman with reddish curly hair has been the one providing such horrible service. The rest of the staff seems kind and helpful.

This is my regular morning stop for caffeine and Clif bars. They have random specials on goods, which keeps me visiting in case I stumble in when their cans of Viso are 2 for $3. Sure, there are some shady customers around, but I've never had any run-ins. Granted, I'm usually there in the morning when there's a cop on duty, so who knows what goes on in the small hours. Regardless, it's a decent Plaid Pantry.

I literally got locked in the store alone. Chains on the doors and everything. When the worker finally saw I was in there and opened the door he said the kiosk was down and asked what I ripped off... I said "nothing and how did you miss me?" I walked home and thought that was a first. Good luck to the owner, I'm surprised this place makes money. 2 stars for the story I will forever get to tell.

  • Julio Cesar Velazquez

0 customer service skills for the old guy attending at this location and time, so rude and uneducated person, I just moved to the area and I’ve been there around five times and whenever he’s in charge,he’s in a really bad mood complaining about customers, talking disgusting things about homeless people, he should remind that we all are humans, and try to be a friendly person.

  • Jodi

Took me 2 hours to walk there and I had a bag of cans, got there about 8 PM and clerk a Male probably in 20s or mid 30s. He was very rude, wouldn't take cans, and he kept harassing me asking If I had ever been there. I never had and it was embarrassing that he kept asking me. He clearly thought I was someone else. I felt disrespected and embarrassed. I'll never go back.

  • Reggi fuentes

Horrible customer service with the grave yard staff with a bald head . rude an very poor customer service skills .. I asked when his manager would be in today . he tossed my money at me would not let me purchase item n told me to get out of the store...... ! All Because I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SERVICE I RECIEVED !?

  • Abi

I’ve never had an employee be so rude to me before. I had just walked into the store trying to buy a snack when the attendant very rudely asked me to leave the store because he needed to pee. If he had asked me nicely, I wouldn’t have minded. However, he was not at all nice about it. Horrible customer service.

  • Howie Blanding

There is a curly red haired woman that works there that is an absolute horrible person. She treats customers with absolute disrespect. I cant believe they would employ a person like that. She is arrogant and should never be working in a job that involves customer service.

  • Little Nicky

This place just fired a worker for pulling a gun on a hatchet wielding attempted robber....all caught on video. The robber left his hatchet and ran. THIS GUY JUST SAVED HIS OWN LIFE AND PROTECTED YOUR STORE. AND YOU FIRE HIM??? I wont set foot in this store again.

  • Wes Lugviel

Not 24 hours. I’ve tried a few times now to buy something before 6 am, sometimes there is someone at the window but more times than not just a sign that says will reopen at 6 am. I will no longer be going to any plaid pantry, none of them are 24 hours anymore.

  • AJ E

I seriously injured myself on a scooter outside of this establishment and the employee refused to help and instead berated me and instigated a negative reaction from me. Never go to this store or any plaid pantry.

  • Obi Two

0 Stars. Fired employee for defending himself against a machete armed robber. Also, worth a note that they have deleted tons of negative reviews about this incident. Corruption at its core. #Shameful

  • K A

The guy working night shift was not around for over 30 mins. Came back saying he was on break. We came back again a few minutes later and went back to another long break.

  • Caleb Masterson

Not open 24 hours… Hours are always inconsistent so you’d be lucky if they are even open even in the middle of the day. It’s the same at all of their locations.

  • Crispy Clowns

The guy at the counter will not sell me cigarettes and I’m 35 years old with an ID. Totally disrespectful and I will never return to this location ever again.

  • Dante snyder

Wouldn't let me use my ebt..... also dude starting using checkout window 30 min before 10. I understand so much why this is a dead end job but still......

  • Rob K

the patrons were kinda vile. frankly it felt dangerous knowing the management have sent out a message that these stores can be robbed without resistance.

  • stefhenie

The store is very dirty which didnt bother me as much as the cashier behind the register. he needed to adjust his attitude he was rude and unhelpful

  • Sara T

Waited for 20+ minutes and decided to leave. There were 10 people waiting and many others turned around and left. This was Thursday at 7:30pm.

  • Brian Vannett

Been standing out here a good 20 mins waiting for the clerk to mop the floors sign says 10 mins. But whatevs it's only cold and wet outside

  • Tyler Steinberg

Apparently they fired someone? But whoever runs thebplace now is a really great guy. They have a decent selection too

  • Mynique Williams

Not 24/7 they will shut the doors for 8 hrs and at they're performing maintenance but actually be on there phones

  • Sarah Hill

Night manager, Hani, is so rude and disrespectful! Never again will I shop there.

  • Fes IRL

So I'm more likely to die in this store because they have a "gun free" policy.

  • Man With The Cigar

Old man at the counter clearly hates his job and is very rude to the customer

  • Jason torgerson

Good stuff bad customer service crusty old hindu behind the counter lol

  • Christopher Wilkins

I wish the business was open for in-store shopping between 10pm-6am.

  • Samuel Ebeling

NOT open twenty-four hours a day. Might want to change your hours.

  • William May

Feast when you can, and dream when there's nothing to feast on.
