1. Cleaning staff are sitting on equipment while they should be cleaning and this is not the first time cleaning staff has been a problem they also get in the way cleaning in the area of machine being used in training. I get they should also be doing their job but at least wait until the area is clear and not while in use or training. 2. Equipment is poorly managed and looked after, especially the dumbbells and there is not enough during peak hours and busy times at the gym making it more frustrating because why do we pay a premium fee if we are not even able to use the equipment. 3. They constantly run campaigns to sign up new clients but the gym can barely run on the current capacity which leads to all the mentioned above problems. 4. The black tag now called the buddy tag was the reason we signed up and after almost two years at the "crowned jewel of the northern suburbs" planet fitness and now suddenly we have to pay an additional money to make use of the buddy tag which makes no sense at all because that's why we took the premium black tag contract and been paying a premium price for it and now we have to add another R99 monthly to activate it. this was not mentioned, discussed or anything to us to which I feel is entrapment into paying more and more after being a client here for over a year. I will rather sign up at Virgin Active paying more but for a better experience.

Very very disappointed in this franchise as a whole. I cancelled my Vitality not so long ago, for my my own reasons, so I understand that I am going back to normal club fees. I did a manual payment on my account on the 4th of December 2022,and my payment is still not allocated. Via the link THEY provided. I have been patient, and when I go to the club to cancel, they tell me I can't as my membership only expires in Sep 2023. I joined in January 2021, and was excited as my two year membership (that I originally signed up for) was coming to an end. Only to be disappointed when I found out no one told me that my membership has been renewed, without signing a new contract or being notified. I have already contacted Wendy Knowler. I refuse to pay a cancellation fee when no one has told me I have a whole new contract? I have sent emails, I just get absolutely nowhere. Cancel my membership without penalties, or I will take it further. This is how they keep you in a contract for longer. They don't tell you. Please contact me so this can get resolved.

Gym equipment is old and you often have to wait for equipment as the gym is very full or the equipment is broken. The machines and weights feel very old and are usually broken making it very frustrating. Among the list of the broken is the air conditioning. The gym is uncomfortably hot and I'm pretty sure that it is a hazard to have that many people in a gym without proper ventilation. Numerous people have complained but nothing gets done. I even tried to switch on a fan in the gym the other day and surprise, surprise, it was broken too! Not once in the months I've been to the Gym have I seen anyone actually cleaning the equipment in between members. The cleaning bottle to do it yourself is often missing or empty. It is no wonder that the gym smells poorly, particularly in the weights and ladies section. Very unimpressed. I was with a different gym for a long time and the standard was much better there. Does not feel like you're getting what you're paying for at this gym.

23/11/2023 Had a membership here a few months back, but I canceled it due to a below average experience. Visited again a few times with a friend using his buddy tag. Had a leg workout today, and the one cable leg exstension machine was out of order due to the padding being replaced. The other machine's cable broke during my set using my normal resistance training weight. The lady that came to inspect the machine informed us that that exact cable was replaced 2 weeks prior to failing today. The quality of most cable machines in the gym is not up to standard as cable failure is a common occurrence here. Went on to the rest of my exercises only to find the third leg extension machine, and the seated calve raises machine to also be out of order. I understand that the gym equipment gets used a lot because the gym is EXTREMELY busy, but the number of machines out of order really becomes a problem during busier times.

Oh where to begin.... The air-conditioning haven't been working for many many months now. Every week there's a different excuse why it isn't working. It is a hot, stuffy, humid environment. The 7.5kg free-weights have probably melted into nothingness due to this unpleasant environment because there is only 1 set left, so good luck trying to do a workout if you needed these. The boxing bag has on many occasions had dried blood spots on it from members not using appropriate boxing gear and instead go bare knuckles, perhaps it would have been cleaned if the cleaning staff wasn't using some of the exercise machines as a bed to sleep on. I've been a member for maybe 8+ years but the last two or three years I have witnessed how the standards of a once awesome gym has taken a turn for the worst. Perhaps I would revise my review once things improve but for now 1 star is all this gym deserves.

Sadly I had to edit my positive review from 3yrs ago. (24 Oct 22) I have been a member at Planet Fitness Brackenfell for quite a few years now. The maintenance has really gone backwards. Broken or damaged equipment takes weeks, sometimes months to be repaired. Various equipment simply gets a sign to state that maintenance work is being done and that’s how it stays. Recently the steam room was closed for maintenance. It has been weeks now and still closed. The InBody machine’s handle is broken (still works) but I guess it is going to be offline for a few months soon, and often you have to ask for paper to be added to the printer. There is always an awful smell at the lockers behind reception. The shower soap dispensers are broken or just lying on the floor most of the time. If it was not for my trainer at the gym, I would have moved to another club.

Update 2023: Since new chillers has been installed the place is definitely a lot cooler than last year. That is IF the chillers are turned on. Some days you get there and one will be running, some days not even one of the two and it is those days when the gym is warm and humid again. But sometimes both are running and the gym is nice and cool. Therefore I'm changing my rating to 3 stars. The new manager, Megan, was the right person for the job. Very active and involved manager. Previous Review from 2022: Used to rate the gym 4 or 5. Changed my rating to 1 due to the air conditioning and possibly ventilation not working for months now. Also equipment breaks frequently and there are equipment out of commission for long periods of time like the one treadmill in the second row, 3rd from the wall which has been broken for months now.

The facility has good equipment and times open are better than some others but the public holiday times aren't clear online so check the times carefully. They don't communicate well as I had 3 sales pitches from 3 different people with my 15 year old son. We decided to give the 7 day trial a go before joining but only managed to train together once as we were told the 2nd time he can't go in as he is under 18. We even took a copy of his birth certificate with so clearly the rules change on different days with different staff. The staff there don't seem interested to help you and the overall experience wasn't a good one. If this is how one is treated when they should be trying to impress you then I don't want to know how one will be treated when you are hooked there. Neither of us felt welcome so we won't be joining there.

If you want to get robbed please apply to this gym. I have been trying to get back my money ,that they charged me for 2 months after my contract had ended, for almost 4 months now. After being back and forth with them, never getting called backed as promised by their customer service supervisor for 3 months (spending hours and hours of my own airtime), I finally was told that my application will be reviewed and i will be notified within 72hours. After 2 weeks of being promised I will here from them in 72hours it has still not been resolved and I demanded that their supervisor call me back yesterday. He didn't call me back yesterday and didn't call me back today. So after almost 4months I have still not received a single penny from them. This is the way they treat their customers. BE WARNED ⚠️!!!!

As with many other Planet Fitness gyms this one is great. Staff is generally very helpful especially since this is not my usual branch and the layout differs slightly. I do however think that cleaning and sanitizing of weights especially during peak times can be improved upon, something that I have noted to be very well managed at other branches. This will ensure faster turnaround for used weights to be placed onto the racking again and ready for use. This can be achieved by having staff available in area to continuously clean. The gym does get busy from 4pm onwards which is normal. They also do not have a track or pool but most of the normal equipment which you find in other branches. Definitely a nice gym if you are in the area. As always just my opinion.

No assistance at all on the gym equipment or staff checking if equipment is used properly. I should not have cancelled my contract with zone fitness....much more experienced fitness experts at zone and more professional advice given. I see so many people not using the equipment correctly and there is no one around to assist...staff are just standing around chatting.....and pf employs such young staff that have no manner in which to deal with older people.....you actually dont get expert advice on how to train to lose weight...they cannot even give you a proper program. They admit they dont have enough experienced people. I only attend this gym because I'm a discovery client if discovery opens this to zone fitness I will go back there.

I used to love the gym....but I am deeply disappointed. We have to stand in a queue outside in the wind and rain for 40-60 minutes every day just to get inside where a staff member will say thank you for your patience. Its winter and we get sick. I was off sick with a nasty flu for 9 weeks after standing outside 4 days a week for 40-60 min at the time to gym. The machines are not as well maintained as they say. I complained about it and they said that they will look into it. Not good enough. I am a member since 2018. We have asked for an appointment system. NOPE sorry we still have to stand in a queue. You guys want us to pay almost R 500.00 p/m for a service we can only use for about 25%. Not fair.

Due to an error on their system they deducted the full gym fees last month and not the Vitality gym fee. I've been struggling for a month to get a refund and needless to say that I have the same problem this month. Not once has the manager made contact to let me know what is going on. VERY poor client service from the manager. For the first 3 weeks I was just told that they are awaiting feedback from the manager. Since last week, I can't get refunded before I sign the contract AGAIN but I can't sign it because of the error on the system. I've asked to talk to someone higher and simply got no feedback. Wanted to cancel the membership - no feedback. Due to this struggles, I won't recommend.

Honestly just don't join. Both my girlfriend and I have been struggling to cancel our memberships for 3 months now. They won't let you cancel when you request cancelation, they'll just throw a cancelation fee in your face whether the contract is up or not. They will also increase your fees due to "inflation" before your contract term is up despite having signed differently. They also will not let you know that your contract has expired despite the contract stating they will. Their call center is also absolutely useless, and they will not provide evidence of previous issues logged despite giving an email notification with a reference number. Honestly they're just crooks - stay away.

Gym is a bit small, but the equipment is okay. Even if the gym is very busy you dont tend to wait long to use a weight machine, but you can wait long for a cardio machine. The people who use the equipment is generally nice and also share machines between sets sometimes. Gym is quite clean and never smells of sweat like some other gyms. If there was squash courts and if the gym was bigger it would get 5 stars, but the 1 star penalty to size and equipment not as up to date as the Virgin Active gyms. Although I go to a Virgin Active gym currently, I did see my best results of weight loss and fitness at this Planet Fitness branch, dont know why, but just did.

A BIG WOW on the new building and shiny new equipment. VERY impressed with the crosstrainers, treadmills etc. All brand new and state of the art! You can connect via Bluetooth, watch Netflix and even connect with the Life Fitness app via your phone to keep track of workouts. The music isn't too loud, which means I can use my headphones at the gym again. Nice shop inside. Friendly staff. Can you tell how happy I am that this area is getting some premium versions of franchises? Highly recommended. A quantum leap over the old PF that used to be across the road. I now gladly pay my monthly subscription and look forward to going again!

Planet Fitness is a place that reallyy guided me into my desired direction. When I first started my gym journey I had NO idead how the machines worked, I didnt knww what to focus on to reach my desired goals etc. I wasn't there for a few mins when someone ((staff memeber)) showed me around and gave me some tips. She also introduced me to a personal trainer who helped me to reach my goals within a months time! I love this gym because whenever I feel lost or confused there has ALWAYS been someone who were able to help me. They also have GREAT facilities such as showers with WARM water as well as a steam room.

Sign up was easy. But after that it slowly declined, advice from the sales consultant poor at the start and when the issues started to come to surface it was just a blatant ignore. Then as the gym starts to age (was relatively new when signing up) facilities begin to break and after 3/4 months still not fixed (remember these are strongly sold at sign up stage) and now the last straw, we are COOKING and there have not been aircons for months. It stinks and we are melting…. 2 stars because when everything works the gym is decent. Management and aftersales SUCKS!!

This is the best gym I have been to, honestly. I love going there! It's massive and so spacious with several sections for different exercising types. The top floor has all the weight training with a closed off room for cycling classes and a running track that goes all the way around the entire top floor. The bottom has all of the cardio machines such as stepping machines, bicycles, treadmills etc. There is also a women's section where women only can train in a bit of a secluded area, which is very comfortable for someone like me who likes to workout in private.

The gym management honesty ignores our concerns over the aircon that we’ve raised over a year if not more,gym and cycling studios are like steam rooms when they have classes. They only have one small aircon that barely covers the studios as the aircon never worked actually in that gym. Maybe we need some health inspectors to make a turn in the afternoon when there are classes before someone literally faint in those classes, instructors now cuts classes short due to the heat to avoid incidents as we are in our peak summer heat.

Update 18 April Aircon still not working but everything else is great. They even rearranged the gym that improves quality of life. Update 21 Feb They have a new manager, stuff seems to be coming together. We have an interim Aircon solution that helps alot. Machines and Aircon been broken for more than month. Maintenance is pathetic. When I asked about the Aircon it was said that it was too expensive too fix. I then phoned the regional manager. 3 weeks later and no change, after a few promises naturally

I feel very uncomfortable with this review but very disgusted actually. Visited this gym yesterday to see if I want to join and the sales lady that helped Danielle was awesome,very helpful but then the other sales guy. He let me felt so unsure and made fun of my sinuses which is so inappropriate and let me felt I come with an agenda when I asked about the 'buddy tag'. He is a smooth talker and sales people are not suppose to make you feel bad if you don't take a deal immediately with them.

I enjoy this gym a bit over full at certain times but it is the way it goes everywhere. My only gripe is that not actual sanitizer for the equipment gets provided anything from windex to soap to mr muscle but not a drop of sanitizer in sight. Virgin active did get that part right during this covid times. The little restaurant/juice bar is great value all and very clean gym nice staff enough parking for everyone.... only my first month with them so still difficult to judge at this point.

The gyms actual training area is very bloated and the layout is really not great. It's actually smaller than all the other gyms in the area. The gym is exceptionally hot and humid inside - according to members training this has been the case over the last 3 months. It's very crowded to the point of using equipment is nearly impossible- at any time of the day. Most of the weights and equipment is not maintained. Worst gym in our area. Not worthy of the Planet Fitness name.

Not only has the air conditioning been broken for months and months, the equipment is broken, the place is filthy and the staff are glorified receptionists. They are not willing to help with any requests for assistance. Do not deal with Sameul one of the sales consultants. What an aboslute joker he is. Swears at his own mistakes. Does not return calls. Made a mistake on my contract and I am the one paying. Does not return phone calls. Does not answer front desk calls when I phone in. Pathetic to say the least. Still waiting on management to contact me. Watch out for sam. He is quick to sell you a contract, but he is not ethical to his position at Planet Fitness Brackenfell.

When I joined the gym in September 2021, it cost R299 per month. Its now 4 months later and they have upped their monthly price twice. As of December they charge R600 per month, yet they do not offer more services, and have not upgraded the gym in any way. This is absolutely fraudulent and extremely unethical. In a time of extreme financial crisis, Planet Fitness Brackenfell is greedily stealing money from their customers.

Overall clean gym with variaty of facilities and equipment. But Majority of the cardio equipment and weight training equipment is out of order for long period of time. Majority of the weight numbers indication labels are missing/blank/faded on the cable weight machines, You're NOT able to see selected weight, you need to try and calculate selected weight manually. maintenance and upkeep of equipment NEED WORK!

Unfortunately the ladies bathroom showers are always clogged... The water rises in the shower and then you stand in other people's water aswell. Yesterday the showers were all filthy.. Powders on the floor and I had to check all the stalls before finding one I felt comfortable showering in. I also had to go to the front desk because the toilet stalls had no toilet paper. When does the steam room open again?

Talk about being a victim of its own success, this gym has turned into a "excuse me how many sets do you have left?" kinda place. Its so full, especially at peek times. So much so that there's no parking, members need to park at brights across the road and walk in the rain to come to gym. Oh and this is new they'll clamp your car if you don't park in a bay. Sorry bakkies! Time to find a new gym.

Friendly staff, all the machines I need, and quite a variety of activities. It may seem expensive at first, but once you're into it, it's totally worth the money. There is Wifi, a coffee shop that sells healthy edibles, and machines that link to an app where I can track my progress for free! We've had one or two queries in the past that were quickly resolved. I love the gym

Good gym, friendly staff. Great range of equipment and well spaced out with seperate weight, crossfit, ladies, cardio, etc. sections. They maintain/fix equipment often (but with that said, equipment also breaks often). Biggest drawback is that the locker rooms could be cleaned a bit better (it's done often, just not well) and unfortunately the steam room is often out of order.

Really lovely. Completely new equipment, spacious, less people and Cafe, they actually have a running track, so cool. change-rooms/toilets are really well set up, and private. My highlight as everything about Plattekloof branch is horrible. Bathrooms change-rooms are terrible and cardio floor no ventilation, stinks. Just a better experience that I enjoy at this branch

The best place I love it here. I would like to Thank you the head receptionist at the Brackenfell Planet fitness for the amazing service and making sure that the venue a top club. She and the new facilities manager made sure that the yoga room was available to use. I appreciate it tremendously. To all the staff at planet fitness keep up the fantastic work.

Aircon doesn't work for over 2 months now. Everyone has been complaining about it and nothing has been done about it. The heat is really getting ridiculous and unpleasant especially in this season. Equipment is fine but old and if it breaks, don't expect to use it anytime soon. We pay so much to attend but can't seem to get our value for money back.

Upside: Lovely experience! Love the facilities. Friendly staff. Downside: can feel like an aftercare with all the children running around and playing on the equipment. @planet fitness Waterkant Cape Town Poor communication! Utterly disappointed with the service and you have to go through a call center to log in queries. You spend no longer than 2 minutes on call and you get cut off! They expect you to sign up on the spot, my advise is to ensure you read through your contract thoroughly before signing up!

Really considered joining, but after reading a few reviews on Facebook I decided ill pass. Every single person complains about how they can’t cancel the contract and they keep debiting their account long after the contract has ended. They also apparently are not transparent about the contract that you sign. Real shame!

Empty promises to fix the broken aircon going on almost 2 years (simply re-gassing it clearly is not working) and loose transfer contracts that is no where to be found is unacceptable. Now 6 months after leaving I get offered a new contract with no joining fee, still promising the AC will be fixed soon.

Great gym with friendly staff. Equipment is regularly refurbished and the variety of equipment is highly suitable for the average gym goer and beyond. Lots of lockers, sauna, WiFi, running track, women's only section, change rooms with showers, a café, lounge space to do work on a laptop, etc.

Completed my first 15 days and received a gym bag. Awesome. Phillip who convinced me to register did a great job Beautiful, Le Mesa took time to show me what excersizes would be beneficial for me. The team Brandon, Kyra and Tristan will always great me with friendliness. Great place indeed

The gym is amazing. Staff and members are friendly and helpful. The gym is so big and has almost everything you can think of. The only downside is that it seems the showers are not cleaned to often and on a Monday the gym is so full, it feels as if the maximum capacity has been exceeded

Very unhappy about our tags that have still not been sorted for months now ...there seems to be no process and urgency in resolving this which is extremely disappointing. It's been taken up with almost everyone that works there including the manager and still no progress at all

Planet fitness has enough equipment. Enough space for plenty to move about. No matter what time I go, the ladies section is always hot and has a very bad smell. I don't see much cleaners so I am not sure if the staff cleans but that smell is bad and the aircon is not working.

Machines in weight section are super flimsy almost too light for a weight section. And all the equipment is on top of each other for a new member finding the right equipment is a nightmare. Not to mention Invasion of space. Think they need to uitalise their space better.

I have been a member for over 2 years now, the gym is very over crowded @ certain times making it very difficult to get a proper workout while u are there, currently school children on their parents membership is hogging machines for long periods of time. Frustrating...

Facilities are top notch. New machines in great condition and ample space downstairs to maintain COVID-19 protocols. Upstairs, however, is cramped and the equipment is not very far apart. Not much space to move around without getting in the way of the other gym goers.

All I can say It is a nice place to gym at. You get any help you need as well as Personal trainer that will assist you with fitness journey. Theres a steemroom as well and i enjoy it the most because it drains all the fats. I also enjoy the classes on group studio.

I like this gym but when a service is not working and doesn't get repaired on time for continuous use by clients, its called stealing from paying clients! The steam room has been broken for an entire week now and this to me says that their clients are not priority!

Clean gym and equipment is well looked after. Shower facilities are clean and staff are always around to clean up after use. Please consider other music in the shower areas, as the current music sounds like a answering machine's hold option. It is very annoying.

It's a good gym. No complaints other than I would very much like to scan my own tag upon entering, instead of having to hand it over to them to scan it when the infrastructure is clearly at the rolling gates to allow this. Virgin Active is better in this regard.

None of the fitness machines is working in loadshedding, they blame their generator also no fans to cool down the area. The studios also locked when there is no classes, so only 3 cycles available at all times. Hopefully a Virgin Active opens up soon near us

Front desk great, but the rest of the staff seems unhappy and not really excited about their jobs. Training seems to be lacking. The gym itself is small, but is nicely laid out. The vitalty check-in site can be modernized and a pool would have been great...

Samuel is smooth with words, not honest at all when it comes to explaining the contract and when it activates, sales manager is just as fraudulent. They do not get back to your requests or enquiries, cant believe this is Planet fitness standards.

Nice gym, good equipment but could add a bit more to their variety in machines.. specifically only have 2 types of leg presses but not the most popular one if though all in all not bad at all... Bad ventilation on the running track though

24/012023 Gym is suppose to open at 5am..How on earth do you forger the keys..90% of your job daily is to stand around.. we wake up early because it's so darn crowded af night..broken machines and you stil bladdy forget the keys..pathetic

It is clean and new,I really hope it stays like that. I really am enjoying the heated yoga classes, the yoga coach gives an excellent class. The individual showers are very roomy, about 1.5m square, with a really decent shower spray.

Gym equipment up to standard and staff efficient and friendly. Does however have a lot of downtime with regards to the men's steam room and if it is out of services it takes forever to get fixed. Quite a regular occurrence

I had a great early morning workout at Planet Fitness Brackenfell. The gym has a great vibe and friendly staff. Great equipment and clean facilities make it a pleasure to visit. The free Inbody scan is a real bonus!

Pay full price to have no AC and so many broken machines. I regret the contract. In peak hour there is not enough free weights and equipment. So if you are looking for a new gym. Unfortunately, this is not the one.

A nice gym, has lots of equipment, but lacking aircon. Seems to be a problem in south african gyms... Just another institution that has a lot of excuses for a MUST have facility. Otherwise, a friendly gym.

I moved in the area for a month and they staff are so friendly . I left some of my items in the bathroom and they were all retuned to me ! I am so grateful to this gym. There is plenty of equipment too.

The Manageres is an awsum person and is worth a million stars. Friendly staff at reception and curtioously I was amazed by all of this and the club as all you need that is new and clean. Well done.

The gym was extremely busy during higher levels of lockdown which caused queues outside. I initially wrote a bad review, but decided to correct it, because I am extremely happy now! Very nice gym

The place is amazing and spacious, even if it seems full, always able to have a proper workout...love the place.The only flaw is that they don't have a Pool...It would have been 5 Star Arena

It has everything that one needs except for a pool. Staff has always been friendly to us since joining 3 weeks ago. Great place for a family workout session. The coffee's not bad either.

Clean, Covid aware, everything gets sanitized after use. It looks cleaner than a surgery. Awesome experience. Definitely beneficial for mental health. You feel motivated and pumped.

Ventilation and aircon needs to be fixed, trying to exercise in the heat is super demotivating. Equipment not being maintained, probably a third of the treadmills have issues.

Friendly staff,good equipment however this gym is way too small for the amount of members, during peak hours Monday to Wednesday it is barely possible to get a workout in.

Quite full in the morning, and we told that its peak is in the evening only, empty in the morning. So that's why 4 stars. Other than that, it's still a good experience.
