Point Loma Electric and Plumbing are very professional and great at what they do! I contracted Point Loma Electric and Plumbing because I had an outlet that stopped working in an ADU. Unfortunately I had more issues that I imagined. My Home was built in the 1950's and has been rewired, and modified through it's lifespan. In 2018 I hired a general contractor in 2018 to rewire my home, and unbeknownst to me, he committed multiple code violations and shortcuts, examples are installing an indoor 100amp panel outside, reusing old wire(cloth Romex) and using interior Romex while in an outside underground conduit. Unfortunately I learned a valuable lession and had to pay someone else to rectify these errors. I will admit Point Loma Electric and Plumbing is by no means a cheap company, however, as many know you get what you pay for. I paid approximetely $10,000.00 for the rewire in 2018 which turned out to be a safety hazard and could of nearly burned down my house. Point Loma Electric came out and explained the project very clearly, and was very professional with expectations, as well as timeline, cost, etc. Johnny Salas was the initial estimator, and Matthew Garcia was the project Manager that showed up everyday and kept me in the loop with the direction of the project. Matthew's level of knowledge and professionalism was above and beyond, as evident by his willingness to support and advocate for the client. For example, he was always on top of keeping me aware of what was going on and kept the project going. The Office staff were also on top of it! They would communicate clearly with me about when someone was coming. the workers were professional. Each day the workers left the rooms and house exactly how they found it (no tools lying around, or no work debris). I understand rewiring a home can be a disruptive endeavor in any homeowners schedule, however, I felt that Point Loma did a good job at minimizing disruption and worked in sections to ensure I was not without essential power overnight or the weekend, such as the fridge or wifi :) that was very thoughtful. The only two negatives I could comment on was their price, and minor misses. It was not the cheapest rewire with panel upgrade and existing panel restoration ($30,000) for a 1400 square foot home with a detach garage. However I can say I am able to sleep peacefully knowing their work is backed by an unbeatable lifetime warranty on workmanship! In addition, I did have to have the company send a worker back on 2-3 occasions for something such as an outlet that was missed or a hole that wasn't patch, overall I am satisfied and would recommend to anyone.

This business charges a ridiculously high price for their work. The technician arrived and asked to inspect the electrical panels. and planned to inspect my entire house so that he could find additional work to recommend. He replaced a light fixture that we provided, charged $79 for showing up, spent less than an hour doing it, then charged me another $246 for 15 minutes of work, a very high rate for his time. He gave me 2 more outrageously. high estimates for additional work that we would like to have done in the future. When we asked why the estimates were so extremely high, he gave an unreasonable explanation for the high prices of his estimates - that they had many people working for the company so they could charge more. Then rather than charge me a specific hourly rate, he charged me whatever he thought we might pay. When I asked for a breakdown of his time and hourly rate, I was told his one lump estimate was it, they charge by the job, but obviously whatever they think they can get out of the customer. It is obvious that once the technician is at your home, they know you have to pay him $79 to be there, so you are stuck paying him, so he can charge an unreasonably high price for his time. This does not seem to me the way a reputable business should be conducted.

Ramon Ramirez and David Sanchez were absolutely phenomenal! I recently moved into an older house that had really out-of-date wiring, and I wanted to get GFCI on almost all of the outlets, and I also wanted to run a Cat7 ethernet cable along the outside of the house to the entertainment room. I called Point Loma Electric and Plumbing on 12/18, and they were able to send out Ramon on 12/27 to do the initial inspection, which was thorough and much faster than I expected. Then, he was able to schedule the actual work to be done on 12/29, at which point Ramon and David were sent out to actually do everything. They got here right on time, and they were able to get everything finished in less than 4 hours. Their work was absolutely excellent: you can tell that they're professionals who take great pride in their work. I'm actually typing this review while I am watching a 4K movie on my TV that's plugged into the ethernet cable and GFCI box they installed, and it's playing perfectly smoothly (and safely!) without any hiccups :-) Thanks, Ramon and David!

We discovered that our 12+ year old Noritz tankless water heater had been leaking for some time (not sure how long). The leak (which turned out to be from the heat exchanger) not only caused the water heater to stop functioning, it also caused mildew/mold damage to the area below and to the sides of the tank. After contacting a mitigation company to alleviate the problems that were caused, we contact Point Loma Electric and Plumbing (as well as two other companies) in an effort to find a suitable replacement. After doing our due diligence, we select PLEP to do the work. The office staff was flexible with regards to scheduling the installation and the two technicians that came out to do the work (Brandon and Hugo) arrived promptly and got right to work. I was very pleased with the effort they put into our installation as they checked and double checked each step. They cleaned up after they were done and they did a thorough job of making sure we had hot water at all of our sinks, showers and bathtub. I would highly recommend PLEP!

One of the best experiences I’ve had with contractor services. Reached out for outlet installation in my garage. Had a tech come out for an estimate who was extremely knowledgeable and genuine in helping me figure out the best solution for my needs. He also identified an overloaded circuit I wasn’t aware of during the evaluation. Pricing for repair and installation was well below other estimates. Scheduling the work was easy and the company was flexible and accommodating so there wasn’t any stress about scheduling at all even though we work from home. The work was done cleanly and the electricians adapted to a complication on the fly and with a smile. Everything was professional and deeply competent. I’d recommend Point Loma to anyone with no reservation and look forward to working with them again.

Erich Estes initially came to solve a problem that occurred when the garage door opened, the entry fountain went off as did the garage door function, flipping the panel breaker each time & disrupting function. Discovered was a panel issue with an incorrect electrical switch inset, inconsistent with the other switches. Erich went beyond the repair that extended to a thorough problem-solving strategist level. He had to relabel the entire electrical panel by searching out multiple rooms in my home & outlets associated with the outside panel. It took about 2 hrs. to correctly label the panel which makes my life easier in problem solving any future electrical issues. I felt very lucky that Erich was so patient and displayed a talented skill set to address this old home’s wiring issues.

I tried to schedule an estimate for both electrical and plumbing work with this company. The day they were supposed to come out, I received a message asking to reschedule for the electrical crew to come up. This was frustrating unacceptable as I took time off for this day specifically for these appointments. I ended up canceling my appointment with the electrical crew, but I was told the plumbing crew would still be arriving. The appointment was scheduled for between 12:30 and 2:30. At about 2:40pm, I received a call from the dispatcher saying the plumbers were about 30-45 minutes out. This was again unacceptable as I had another obligation at 3:00pm. Thus, due to their lack of professionalism in keeping appointments, I did not and will not work with this company.

At this moment, a new 240 outlet was installed directly from the electrical panel by adding a dedicate breaker. Luis looks very professional and firstly tried to get all customer’s inputs/requests and provided some detail plan and procedure for the given requests. It took almost 4 hours including a lunch break. The overall works are very satisfied with clean-up of work environment. The only drawback is that the overall cost becomes pretty high relatively with comparison to the one year back. One last comment is about the schedule of work. While another technician visit for estimation, the work was scheduled in the early morning 8 or 9am. However, the actual work started almost at 10:30am, which resulted in some cancelling my work schedules in the afternoon.

I am very pleased I went with Point Loma Electric to fix some electrical issues we were having at our house. They were able to get their tecnician Luis out to our house within just a few hours after my call. He was able to fix the issues with our breaker box and get our AC running again. I also had him replace seven outlets in our living room that were original to our home. Luis had a lot of experience as an electrician and he was able to problem solve to get our electrical issues resolved. He was very professional and friendly. I will definitely be having Point Loma Electric handle our upcoming electrical needs but I just wanted to post a positive review for them and also to help others who might be in need of a good electrician.

They've done great electrical work for me in previous years. However, their prices went up 130% this past year. I was quoted over $1220 for a kitchen faucet replacement when I was already supplying the new faucet; no joke! I asked the technician why it was so expensive and he said they have flat fee pricing from their book and the faucet was $930 alone and it would be another two-hundred in something because the hot water valve was old and frozen open. I asked him how long the job would take and he told me about an hour. Even with a couple $25 parts, paying a plumber over $1000 an hour is insane. Please seek plumbing services someplace else and boycott this ridiculousness for the inflation sake of us all!

Luis and Paul were wonderful. They were prompt, extremely knowledgeable and got the job done efficiently. They answered all of our questions and we will have them back to back to resolve another issue that has plagued us for years. I only want the best professionals working in our home and they exceeded our expectations. We previously had another electrician come out to perform this installation. He did half the job and then said he couldn’t install one of the fixtures as it wasn’t compatible with what our set up was. We then tried to get him to come back to resolve the issue and he would never call us back. You get what you pay for so always hire the best the FIRST time.

I knew the second the power went out, that we needed new wiring. We have owned this duplex for 45 years. So I called Point Loma Electric and Plumbing and they came out and confirmed the bad news. I was thinking it was going to cost an arm and a leg and my first born child. Was I wrong. It was so affordable, that I was able to add a couple of extra plugs in! I highly recommend this business. The crew that came out were very professional and loved cats! They made sure all the doors got closed when going in and out of the house. They were very aware of the animals. The experience with this company was professional to say the least. They were courteous and responsive to our needs. They performed an electrical safety inspection (free of charge) before they would work on anything to ensure the safety of their team. Of course, they identified a significant problem with our electrical sub-panel (40+ years old, it happens). While the price of that seemed on the high end, it was completed quickly and without issue. They also installed a chandelier which was in a very awkward and high space for us and it looks great. Will use them in the future for our electrical needs.

I called 5-7 different places for a quote on changing out my bathroom exhaust fan and installing recessed lighting. Out of all the places, Point Loma Electric and Plumbing was the most professional; they were prompt in their response, thorough with their answers, and very knowledgeable. In particular, they sent Frankie out and he was amazing. Frankie was very polite and thorough with his investigations, accommodating the ask of shoe booties to keep the interior clean and even vacuumed up debris after. Although we didn't end up using Point Loma, I would highly recommend them for 5-star treatment.

Phillip diagnosed and unblocked a deep clog in our kitchen pipes. He was courteous, competent, and triple-checked to ensure that nothing was leaking. He also spent extra time to determine that the kitchen pipes were connected to the bathroom's, which was likely the source of the clog. He was respectful of our home and conducted the job in a way that no mess was made. At the end of the repair, he looked at our water heater and gave me advice on service and replacement options. I can see that Point Loma values customer service and will stick with them in the future if we run into another issue.

Diego Albarren and his co worker from Scotland (sorry I forgot his name) were excellent! They did a superior job with installing my new Panasonic whisper quiet bathroom fan (new construction)! They installed the fan exactly where I wanted it and were meticulous with the installation! They prepped the area and cleaned everything up when the job was done! I highly recommend Point Loma electric! They kept me abreast of everything prior to the electricians coming and handled the payment of the job with ease! I highly recommend this company and give them 5 Stars for doing an excellent job!!

Lalo evaluated three low voltage track fixtures to see what was needed to convert from halogen to LED bulbs. Bulbs flickered on only one track, so he recommended and installed new dimmer switch for that track only. The flickers seem to be gone. We also wanted three hanging pendants shortened; they are on the track that flickered. He brought all the tools needed, shortened the cables, adjusting to make sure they were all the same length. All the work was done carefully and quickly. We appreciated his work, his conscientiousness, and that he was so pleasant and easy to work with.

Philip, the technician was friendly, easy to communicate with regarding the problems. He made suggestions for further work to prevent plumbing problems if we ever needed to turn on valves underneath our sinks. It would have been a 5 star if one of the sinks didn't leak after it was declared completed in the repair but he was still completing one sink and was able to fix the problem. This company is above average in their charges BUT you don't have to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment, they are very clean in their work, and they are knowledgeable in the tasks at hand.

My technician was Aaron Cortez. He came mid morning on the 5th day of my smoke detector problem. My old one had been beeping constantly and since it was hard wired it would not stop. I finally had to turn off the circuit breaker that controlled this detector which caused several blackout spots in my home. On a holiday weekend of course. Aaron replaced my old unit with a new and better smoke alarm. This new hardwired smoke alarm also has a carbon monoxide detector included. And it is supposed to last 10 years. Aaron did a great job and was very respectful of my home.

I used this Point Loma Electrical once before & was satisfied. The work was done well & cost was reasonable. HOWEVER, last week I hired them to install a RING doorbell & a Nest thermostat. The work was done well, taking less than 1 hour. But they charged me $585.00!!! Cannot believe this ridiculous fee. It was only for services rendered, no parts needed as I had everything! And he told me this was including a 10% discount! Our neighbor asked for a recommendation to install the same for them. After I told them the cost, we both decided we won't be calling them again!

This place is professional and organized. I inquired on their website this morning about getting a hot tub wired. They responded quickly and had a technician out within an hour. Jessica was very helpful in coordinating and the Lalo, our electrician, was great. We ended up needing our disconnect switch replaced and they anlready arranged with me to come back in the morning. With the parts needed. I’m so impressed with their text system and response time. They even send you a pic of the technician coming so you know who to look for. Highly recommend this business.

I called at 9:15 a.m. and was told that they were unable to give me an arrival window because they were squeezing me in for same-day service. Javier called at 10:00 a.m. and said he was 10 minutes away. I didn't expect for such a quick response. Javier was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He repaired the problem quickly and efficiently. He took the time to teach me things about my electrical system and made recommendations for future upgrades complete with estimates and no sales pressure. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again.

We have had the greatest experience with Point Loma Electric and Plumbing. We had a plug go dead and called them on a recommendation of our real estate broker’s list of preferred vendors. Then the very next day we had a pipe leak in our garage. Both time PLEP were professional, prompt and did everything they said they would within the time frame they gave us. No unwanted surprises or costs. And they did great work! If you want great and responsive service, clear and competent service and a job well done, use Point Loma Electric and Plumbing!

The tech, Lalo, and his assistant showed up within 5 minutes of scheduled time; introduced themselves; put on shoe coverings and then walked thru my house with me to confirm the work to be performed. All work done in professional manner and frequently asked me to check their work to make sure it was to my satisfaction. One part of job was difficult as they had to hang a new light fixture from a 17 or 18 foot ceiling. Did final walk thru to make sure work was satisfactory. I would highly recommend Lalo and Point Loma Electric and Plumbing.

Very good company from what I have seen over a decade. I wish I could get the same tech every time...but somehow "almost" every time I get another amazing tech. Ill be spending more money with them in 2023. And my home is 97 years old ! I will agree with other posts...They are a bit expensive, but for me it is ok. Edit...Sept '23. Another good experience , yet expensive...but we are living post-Covid. I struggle to get contractors at all. My last project was our barn lighting and upgrades. 2 guys , most all day. Happy.

I was thrilled to have service the day after I called. Lalo arrived on time and began replacing 2 florescent fixtures with the LED ones I had purchased. He was respectful and efficient. He insisted on wearing his shoe covers even when we said he did not have to! It turned out that one of the fixtures would not work; Lalo knew how to retrofit the old fixture to accomplish the task. Paul and Ramon were highly skilled and capable. They communicated well with everyone and were responsive to our inquiries and requests. Erich Estes and his team did an excellent job at our house. It was a major task replacing all outlets and switches, so it took 2 days to do the inside and the out. The team was professional and pleasant to be around. So much so, that it wasn't an issue eith them being here all day for 2 days. We are completely satisfied with the work that they did and feel we got good value for our money. They are top on our list of whom to call for any future electrical problems and we recommend them to our friends.

Frankie was on time and very professional at all times. Took time to understand our needs and compiled several different options for us to consider. His quote was quite reasonable considering the amount of work that was needed including installing several lights on very high ceilings. He also replaced old smoke alarms. He was very courteous at all times and made sure to clean up any debris that he created. We were vey impressed and would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone who inquired.

Luis and his team installed 12 recessed lights in 3 different rooms, plus single light in another room. The entire team was so friendly and professional. They communicated and walked me through each step and had me view the placement to make adjustments before cutting them into the ceiling. They covered and cleaned everything, zero damage to any surface. Excellent work. I would highly recommend this business for its quality and speed at scheduling and completing the work.

Omar and Bryan were absolute professionals! Very communicative, punctual and they are truly experts in their craft. I was able to observe and ask questions as they worked and they each explained their steps to me like I was a trainee learning the ropes. Point Loma responds quickly to "emergent" issues as well. Michael Morales did a terrific job in removing some flex and fixed gas pipe that was connected to a previous stove and getting gas reconnected after removal. He also did a survey of existing plumbing systems and let us know which work was most important to be completed soon and which could wait. He was thorough and answered all our questions. The whole process was quick and painless. From scheduling, to project estimation, to the electricians performing the work - everyone was efficient, friendly, and professional. I had some unique wiring that needed to be done and I couldn’t be happier with the result and the price was right. About 3 weeks ago I had my Clairemont home completely rewired. The team from Pt Loma Electric and Plumbing was outstanding in every way. Diego was a great supervisor. Lalo and his partner were very profesional and explained what they were going to do before starting the job. They fixed my wiring and now my dryer works like it was supposed to. His name was Phillipe. We were SO impressed! He was knowledgeable, patient, thorough and efficient -- and extremely courteous -- I give them way more than 5 stars!

Great company! Had to replace an EV charger outlet. Not an urgent problem, but the original installing company said they couldn’t come out for 2 months. Called Point Loma electric and they sent someone out within a few days. Everyone I spoke w, including Matt and his foreman (sorry I forgot his name) were so friendly and professional. Highly recommend!

Matt came out same-day to address several outlets that weren’t working. He ended up needing to come back with replacement parts outside of normal business hours, and never tried to up-sell us on things that weren’t necessary. The whole project was handled professionally and I’ll definitely recommend and call Point Loma again with future jobs.

The technician, Aaron Cortez, arrived at the expected time and very quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem I was having with lighting/electical outlets in two rooms. He also surveyed the electrical system and carefully explained how they worked and their condition. I was impressed by the expertise he displayed.

I had an EV charger installed and the work done by the team was the best. They took the time to explain what they were doing, discussed their recommendation and met all our requirements. The app didn’t work to connect and they stayed and troubleshot the problem. If ever I need any services, I will go to them.

Got my fuse box refurbished and was very happy until the next day when I noticed the sprinkler system had no power. Angel and Alex came right out and went above and beyond to make sure they worked and I was satisfied. I will hire them again but I will make sure Alex and Angel come to do the service

Good experience, really fast. Erich was fast and friendly. He made sure our new ceiling fan was installed correctly and to our liking, left it looking like he was never there and took the old ceiling fan away. Will definitely use them again when we need electric or plumbing rescue in the future!

Replaced some outlets and it was done relatively quickly. There was an issue with some lights short circuiting after one of the outlets was replaced so a technician had to come back to fix that... It was frustrating that happened but the technician arrived within an hour and fixed the problem.

Louis and his partner installed an EV outlet in my garage and routed an electrical outlet behind my TV. They came on time, did an excellent job and left cleaning up after the job. Point Loma Electrical and Plumbing is bit on the expensive side but worth the professional workmanship provided.

Bryan, Ramón and the crew are the best. They always show up on time. If there’s an emergency, they let you know right away. Their work is excellent. He installed a tankless water heater, changed out some fixtures and installed a laundry box. Excellent work.

In 2018 they did a lovely big electrical and light upgrade on my home. In 2023 two lights had stopped working and they came out and cheerfully and politely replaced/fixed them for free. I highly recommend this company.

Ramon was extremely professional and explained the situation with great detail. I LOVED his work and feel confident all is fixed. I think it was pricey for an easy fix, $179 for less than 30 minutes.

We have had poor success with other electricians. We are quite pleased with the work that Frankie and Alex did on the numerous small electric jobs that have been 'bugging' us for quite a while.
