Without a doubt one of the best customer experiences I’ve had. Nothing but professional and friendly communication from the team at pop up. Having taken my bike initially to Halfords for a bike chain fitting which I was going to pay for, I was told there was nothing they can do ‘because I had not purchased the bicycle from them’ - *even though Halfords themselves booked the bicycle appointment for me over the phone… I decided to go to pop up bikes on corporation street, and was given plenty of advice, friendly service and my repair was resolved WITHIN MINUTES! ~ as a new cyclist I appreciate that the repair wasn’t complex for the technicians but the fact that the repair was carried out same day and that within minutes was truly impressive. (Especially since Halfords quoted me 2 weeks wait for repair appointment and then told me they couldn’t do it) lol Pop up bikes for the win. Thank you Prakash

I've been going to Popup bikes since sometime around 2014 and I would never go any other place to have my bike(s) looked at. They are such a lovely bunch and really do a thorough job whenever they service my bike. I've had times where my bike would be making odd noises I couldn't pinpoint exactly and they would investigate it until getting to the root cause, always making sure I'm happy with the outcome. Their enthusiasm for bikes is palpable but they never make you feel like you don't belong there or that you can't ask a question, even if it's a really basic one for them. So friendly and approachable! They charge fair prices and never recommend things you don't need just for the profit. This is a wonderful magical arch and I'm so happy I came across it all those years ago. Prakash, Dipak and Mike (and everyone else) - thank you for being ace.

I've been here a few times now. It was especially useful where I used to live as I'd pass it on my bike enroute from my daily commute. Soon as you step in you are warmly greeted with a cosy patch of living room to your right filled with arm chairs, books and board games to chill or pass the time while your bike gets attended to. The coffee has always been spot on too with very fair prices attached. As for the bike repairs/assessments themselves they are very knowledgeable and transparent with pricing etc. It is quite busy at the moment with depending on your bike can take a while to get looked at but besides this all the staff are lovely . Highly recommend if you need a bike repair or just a coffee..just ring in advance if you do require your bike to be looked at just in case they are fully booked!

This review is long overdue, but just have to say that these guys are the definition of the term Salt of the Earth! Living in South Manchester, there are at least five bike shops between my house and pop up bikes, but I will definitely be passing them all to come back here the next time my bike needs fixing (no shade to the others, PopUp have just really impressed me!) We went to these guys towards the start of lockdown for a bike fit and tune up. What we found: super friendly, down to Earth, very reasonable prices, delicious coffees, and on top of all that, they are willing to take the time to listen to your concerns/questions. Can’t recommend them enough!

I recently purchased a vintage road bike and after riding it a couple of times I’d noticed a few issues of which I thought would be quite costly to repair. A friend had recommended Popup bikes and I’m so glad they did, they replaced my tyres and managed to sort out my gears which involved doing a bit of research on the bike itself and they even found a rare original part that is now obsolete! The staff were so friendly and helpful and gave me lots of advice. Most importantly, all the work that they did was at a really reasonable cost. Would definitely recommend!

  • Hannah Burke

Great place. These guys really care about their coffee - its all carefully selected by the staff and the food is great. Try the roasted vegetable toasties are the best! They've started selling some really cool bike accessories too! There is always a great mix of people in there drinking coffee or getting bike repairs - it makes for a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere - feels like a real little community place. When I do need to get my bike fixed the staff are always helpful and explain what repairs need doing and why - learnt loads from them about my bike.

  • Alastair Jones

Great local bike shop with great coffee and very convenient for the city centre as well. What's not to like about being able to park your bike safely or even have work done on it like trimming a wheel or indexing your gears while heading into the shopping area of the Northern Quarter or Market st of Manchester in the confidence that your bike will not only still be there but will be working better at the end of your visit to the 2nd City's centre? The coffee they serve is also high quality and the quirky setting makes for a very enjoyable visit.

  • MWG

Great friendly service and a great place, easy access and just a few minutes from Manchester City Centre or Victoria Station, Car parking outside for major repairs! Repaired my gears for a fraction of what other's would charge and explained what to do when I couldn't get top gear to engage, Try it for your repairs next time you need anything doing you wont regret it. also you can safely leave your bike there while in the City Centre for just £1.50 a day (7:30am to 7:30pm), and they have a Coffee Bar there too, Ideal for while you wait repairs.

  • Alvaro Canelo Noriega

I discovered this by fortune and it's completely charming! Two concepts: real good coffee without any other stuffing, and a very professional bike service totally opposite to the 'just-for-selling-new' shops. They do it perfectly with my old vintage bike (everywhere else I was told they couldn't fix it and get a new one). Apart from that, a really alternative cool environment where I felt like at home (they even have a guitar if you want to try some riffs!). Coffee and bikes, bikes and coffee, that's 150% of what I like! :D

  • Zakareeya Mehmood

Nothing short of amazing - I purchased this bike during their monthly jumble sale and could not have been happier with the steal I got! Due to my own mistakes, I damaged the brakes and chain slightly so had to return twice back to the shop. The staff were super friendly and polite, they fixed the bike within 10-15 minutes of me entering the shop and they did not charge me a penny. Great quality bikes, great repair services and even greater people. Could not recommend them anymore - best bike shop in Europe!

  • Sean Cronin

Awesome service, really good value for money and friendly staff. Bike fit is significantly cheaper than most places because it doesn't use computers and expensive gear to measure the fit, but the average user doesn't need that extra 10% of precision it brings to be honest. My rides are now pain free and I've fallen back in love with my bike. Would 100% recommend and will be back for any future issues. Plus I got some.grrat advice on cycling in general while we talked through the fit

  • Andy Betony

Absolutely fantastic. I needed a buckled wheel repaired in an emergency and they really pulled it off. from customer service to speed of service these guys really nailed it! Really friendly, good prices, fantastic advice. I honestly can't recommend them enough for anything your cycling needs. As much as I feel there should be something to complain about (I am British after all) there's not a single thing. I shall certainly be using them again and recommending to all my friends

  • David Walsh

I used popup bikes today for the first time and i was so impressed! I'm fairly new to cycling but the guys are so knowledgeable and helpful!. I dropped my bike off this morning for 2 new tyres and brake pads and it was done the same day no problems at all! To all cyclists out there looking for somewhere to take their bikes for repairs you will not get better customer service or workmanship anywhere else! Superb service and 100% happy, thanks guys see you again

  • Meriel Gaelle

I can't speak highly enough of this bike repair shop. Their communication was amazing throughout the service of my bike. They bent over backwards and went above and beyond to try to source a part for my Brompton, which had been discontinued. Their prices are very reasonable, worth every penny. Reliable, friendly and informative staff. You can tell they love what they do and I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for an outstanding service.

  • Tom Rutherford

Friendly and committed service! Pop Up Bikes have twice gone out their way to get my bike back on the road. Their prices are very fair and they have the work done that day if they can. From walking in you get the impression that the staff first and foremost just love cycling and anything to do with bikes. Always use Pop Up Bikes when I need repair work carried out, which in my case is usually an emergency. Coffee's not bad either.

  • Niall G

Top spot for urban cyclists to get their bikes wrenched, with friendly staff, transparent pricing and a rapid turnaround. When I was fortunate to recover one of my bikes that had been stolen by a thief and fell into disrepair, Popup brought it back to its former glory ✨ thanks folks! Delicious coffee served on-site, and they also host regular jumble sales - a great place to pick up a quality used bike or difficult to source parts.

  • William Murray

Really fantastic and friendly service. My bike broke on the road in the evening, I turn up and they fixed it quick with no fuss within a day and at a really reasonable price. Kept me up to date with progress, did some additional helpful bits and gave me some great advice for the future. Also accepted my government repair voucher. My bike now rides better than ever. Great place definitely recommended! Thanks.

  • Katie Bickford

Have taken my bike for a service to these guys a good few times now and have always been really impressed every time by their level of service. Incredibly knowledgeable team, patient with my questions, honest and have been able to do a half day turn around, also willing to stay open longer so I could pick up my bike after work. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Thanks again and will see you next time!

  • Jack Fifield

One of the best bike shops I've ever been to - repaired my mudguard using a spare part after I stupidly broke it by riding off while my Ziplok lock was still attached to my front wheel. If I'd gone to a chain store they'd probably have insisted on replacing both mudguards at a much higher cost. Staff were super friendly too and was great to be able to have some food while I waited. Can't recommend more.

  • Niall McLoughlin

Been coming here regularly for coffee (and bike repairs) for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Best cup of coffee in Manchester imo and very resonably priced servicing for bikes. Huge number of repeat customers and I go out of my way to drop my bikes off for servicing and repairs as I know I wont be ripped off and will get top-notch service. Can't recommend highly enough - especially the short black!

  • Paul Foden

Simply outstanding. The lovely people at Popup Bikes could not have been more helpful and friendly. I have just returned to cycling after a modest 30 year break: both my bike and I needed a refresher. New brakes, new gear set, fresh air in the tyres and I am ready to go again. Excellent value with really useful advice and tips thrown in for good measure. Very highly recommended. Thank you, guys.

  • Darlin Davis

Very professional, helped me with troubleshooting a hub gear issue of my new bike and they suggested a warranty claim and did not even bill me after spending about 30minutes on my bike. The technician also gave me printout of the part to be replaced and did speak to the bike supplier about the issue which helped me in getting a quick warranty claim. Thanks a lot for the awesome service.

  • Artur Balan

Needed some carbon grip paste and everywhere in town they only have the large tubes that cost over £25. Why would someone need to buy 100ml of carbon grip paste? Went to Popup Bikes and found exactly what I need - a 10g small tube which is enough for probably 10 uses. I also like that they don't sell rip-off cleaning/lube products that cost a fortune unlike the other shops in the city center.

  • yumyumchickenburger

Great coffee, great banter, great service. I'm in Pop Up at least once a week, mostly for the coffee and a place to store my bike (indoors!) whilst I drink it. I have on occasion needed their help with a bike issue and they've always been incredibly helpful and sorted me out. It's easily my favourite coffee shop in Manchester and a great place to go if you're in need of any mechanical help.

  • Jack Davy

I recently bought a used bike and took it to Popup to be serviced. They were quick to see me and carry out the service despite me dropping in late the day. The technicians also replaced my bar tape with some I had bought online, which was done to a very high standard. Everyone was very friendly and professional, I will be returning to Popup bikes in the future for all my maintenance needs.

  • Jonathan "Ozzie" Oswald

I've been coming here since they opened and can't recommend the place highly enough. Proper friendly and knowledgable staff. It's a well oiled machine, they'll always go the extra mile for you, keeping you updated and offering sound advice at reasonable prices. It's a pretty relaxed place to have a hot drink and a bite to eat n all. I wouldn't go anywhere else, can't fault it. Ozzie

  • Ian Hulme

Hands down the best bike shop in greater Manchester, probably the entire north of England. Friendly staff are on hand to offer honest, free advice, and the quality of service is 5 star. The coffee is wonderful and they have a wide arrange of cakes. Aesthetics of the shop is this stunning arch with art decor on the walls and roof, with comfy seats to enjoy your hot beverage.

  • Portia Sagoe

Amazing experience - They were able to fit me in the same day, were incredibly friendly on the phone and in person! Worth travelling for if you're a bit further away. 10/10 service and very good value for money. Fixed a few small things on my bike without mentioning/charging and pumped up my tyres following the repair of my gears. Could not recommend this bike shop enough.

  • Alexander Stuart-Kregor

This place flat out rocks. Amazing people and an amazing vibe. I was visiting Manchester and my chain broke. The friendly and skillful folks had me back on my bike in no time at all and for ridiculously good value too. It's brilliant to see such a great place that has a really strong community spirit. Pop in with or without a bike, grab a drink and a Tunnock's teacake :)

  • Donya N

We went there to drink coffee and cake. Here is cosy and local with a handmade cake. I felt like home and I can spend more time there. I missed these type of places far from modernity.here is clean and tidy as well. I think you can read your books while your bike is repairing. I will bring my bike here to repair as it is old and heavy as we are neighbours. Many thanks.

  • Cafe Beermoth

I've used Popup for bike repairs many times now. They're the most friendly and helpful team I've ever come across, managing to get me back on the road where other shops would've recommended a new bike or lots of expensive parts. Their prices are very reasonable and service times always rapid. And they do great coffee to boot. Can't recommend them highly enough!

  • Kalan Quash

My bike rides better than when I first got it. What a testament to this shop because I brought the un-cared-for bike and it was put back into pristine condition. It rides so smoothly now. I will definitely take more care of it and bring for routine maintenance. Also, they are SO helpful and very knowledgeable! Would not take it anywhere else in Manchester.

  • Kes Thornley

Popped in to see if I could get new inner tubes for my Airnimal and though they didn’t have them, due to their unusual size, the person who served me (who I think was the owner) got straight online and ordered them in for the next day. You can’t get better service then that. I just wish I had time to check out the coffee shop too as it smelt delicious.

  • Baz Dev

Fantastic chatting to a couple of fellow cyclists on a random bike ride they recommended I should swing by What can I say,Dipak is a legend beyond redoubt, thank you so much for your time and effort. Had a lovely coffee whilst waiting for my trusty steed to be attended to by a true professional. Many thanks to you and your colleagues.

  • treguard1982

Cannot fault the staff or service at all. Very friendly, professional and down to earth. Even if you don't get your bike serviced/repaired, try their cafe. Lovely food, and you can admire the posters on the walls/ceiling on comfy chairs, or sit outside if it's sunny. You're also supporting a local bike shop and not a large chain. 5 stars

  • Tom Hurst

I Called in recently to have a brake/service check and right from the word go I knew that this was the right place to take my mountain bike. Absolutely brilliant staff who explained everything fully what needed to be fixed and adjusted. I would highly recommend a visit if you need any repair or service for your bike. Five stars from me.

  • Purple Aki

I had a bike fit done there and I must say it was a very enjoyable experience. The bike fit came with a complimentary drink and snack which was unexpected. They even had a few vegan friendly items on the menu including plantbased milks. All the guys were very friendly and welcoming. The prices were less than half of other places.

  • Pete M

Had a puncture first thing Monday morning, had no spare and after a quick Google I found this place. Headed straight over and was in and out swiftly with a new tube (and spare!). First class, friendly service and will certainly be back….hopefully next time just for a brew and a cake! Cheers again for sorting out my bad morning.

  • Harvey Langer

Pop up bikes was recommended to me from loads of people. So glad I went there for my bike fit what a difference it has made. All the staff are extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Will be going here in future for all my bike needs. I highly recommend you give them a try you wont regret it. Thank you pop up bikes. :)

  • Aleksandra Stradomska

Absolute Stars! Been recommended this place by someone on the forum and could not have been happier. Great price and communication. The atmosphere in the shop was also a massive plus! And don't forget to grab a coffee while you there, as its just tasty and prepared with care ❤️ 10/10 Happy birthday on your 11th bday guys!

  • David Edwards

Rode over today to get some spokes adjusted and managed to fall off by putting my front wheel down a tram track on the way. Felt a real idiot. The guys at Popup bikes were kind, sympathetic - checked the bike over and sorted the spokes - all for the price of a cup of coffee. Amazing service and much appreciated.

  • Simon “archy_bold” Archer

Definitely the best bike repair shop in central Manchester. Super friendly and helpful staff, always able to fix an issue, seemingly no matter what your bike and turnaround of a day. The prices are reasonable and they're always willing to go the extra mile. Top notch! And the toasties ain't half bad either!

  • Liam Ronan-Chlond

Best bike repair experience in Manchester. They really took the time to understand my issue and, more importantly, resolved it! I've been to other places that either couldn't solve the issue or were just plain rude. Not these guys though; polite, professional, cool and with excellent coffee! I'll be back!

  • Nicola F

This is hands down the best bike shop in Manchester! The team in there are always really welcoming and friendly. They give great, practical advice and I always feel listened to and respected, never patronised because I'm a girl which I've felt in a lot of bike places. The service and staff are top notch.

  • Oliver Gillum-Webb

One of the best coffee shops in Manchester and probably the best bike repair too! Used it regularly as I worked round the corner and now I work a little further away I keep my bike there some days. They do great Paninis for lunch and have a selections of snacks. Really great and can't recommend it enough

  • Mohammed Ghalayini

Great bike and coffee shop. Staff are knowledgeable and laid back without any sort of "bike mechanic" snobbery! The location in an old railway arch is pretty special too. Look out for their amazing monthly bike jumble sales where you can find bargains or rare parts. First Saturday of the month usually.

  • Marie Pepper

Always excellent service - have been a few times now for general service and puncture repair. Very efficient and thorough at explaining what needs doing/has been done. There are other bike shops closer to where I live but I'd rather travel a bit further for this level of service. Thanks, Popup Bikes!

  • Rachel Lane

After having two bikes stolen, got a great second hand bike from here, with advice on locks, security registration and maintenance. They've also been amazing with repairs, fast turnaround times and helpful advice. Fantastic guys and though I haven't sampled the cafe, the carrot cake looks amazing.

  • Leo Clifton

This place is amazing. They're really friendly and very honest about what work needs doing. Prices are reasonable and always a high standard of work. Also not usually a long wait to book in. It's hard to find a reliable repair shop but I'll definitely be using this one regularly going forward.

  • Colin Moore

Pop fixed my bike on the same day and for a really reasonable price. What an amazing place too. It doubles up as a coffee shop and it's just about the friendliest place I've ever been. I hardly ever write reviews but had to spread the word. Great service. Keep up the good work guys.

  • James Davies

Brought a second hand brompton in for a check over and fix up and was riding out of there same day. Was met with a really friendly and knowledgable chap who ran through all the fixes with me. Couldn't fault the service at all. What a cool place and lovely atmosphere. Thanks so much.

  • Jack Brown

The wizards at Popup Bikes sorted out my loveable but awkward 70's French racer. Amazing service! Kept me in the loop all the way along, and the service was impeccable. It's a great place with fantastic staff, great coffee and delicious snacks. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

  • Chris Pritchard

Excellent service, great shop to take your bike for repairs or maintenance. superb knowledge of all things bike and well worth the travel from the other side of town.... Thankfully no more Halfords for me now just POP-UP BIKES......... Oh they do a cracking brew aswel as cakes.

  • Kevh ukbiker

Well been a long-term keen cyclist coming across this place was great very welcoming staff VERY pleasant place to go all your cycling needs under one roof and the great. Bit you can sit and chill with a great selection of hot beverages and snacks love going there...

  • Nick Hornby

Hip bicycle cafe on the corner of the Green Quarter and NOMA. Nice coffee selection, free wifi, plenty books to read if you're waiting for repairs. You don't *have* to have a bike to come in. Just come for a tea/coffee/cafe/toasties/soup... well you get the idea.

  • Ostap Fedyshyn

Popup Bikes is the best bike repair store in town. They helped me numerous times and often didn’t even take money for it. The staff is polite and helpful and the store has a special Mancunian atmosphere. You try their services once and you will always come back.
