My daughter was in the process and about to go here and signed up for the Summer Scholars program as well once they sent her a letter stating she would get a free dorm room. I believe they offer this as it makes you a prior student for fall term regardless of whether you attend or not allowing them to charge a $423 fee for the dorm cancellation she did prior to the Summer term beginning based on their policies. We had already paid the non refundable $190 deposit for the room but that isn’t used towards the cancellation fee or able to be refunded either. It is disgusting how they are taking advantage of people by telling them it’s free then using it to make money off people that have never even set foot on campus and cancelled in all the appropriate ways prior to the start of even the summer term. I hope there is a class action suit one day for this. We appealed this and we’re denied any waiver as they said it wasn’t enough life events to waive it. Apparently her brother having a serious health condition and me being a disabled veteran with limited income isn’t enough for them to waive this even going through the proper channels. We had to go thru the entire enrollment process to even get answers on whether we could afford to go here for my daughter. Also even if you get an apartment and establish residency in Oregon after the first year, they still keep you listed as an out of state resident for tuition just to make more money off people. Prospective students and parents, Id recommend you read all the fine print and get all the facts before even applying or attempting to go here. I am a disabled veteran and will now have to put this charge on my credit card for my daughter due to their policies. I hope they get all the Karma they deserve at this institution for their predatory money hungry policies. It’s just pathetic.

I worked here for 6 months and I can count on one hand the total amount of breaks I received (very much against Oregon law—but BOLI wouldn’t do anything about it when I complained to them and I don’t want to waste my time in civil litigation). I was also gaslit about promotions multiple times to keep quiet about the lack of breaks, basically I was promised more money and responsibility in exchange for skirting the rules, but nothing ever materialized. Smartly, my supervisors never put anything down in writing. Additionally, I was scammed out of aid by the financial aid office. The shoddy-ness of PSU can’t be overstated. I would recommend staying away if you can.

I do not like this campus, it is unsafe. Glass left over from smashed in car windows in the paid parking lots, homeless people sleeping and running around naked in front of campus buildings, students being assaulted and victimized by randoms off the street. They should not have built the campus sprawled out in the middle of the city, but now that it's there they need to do a better job of protecting students who are paying good money to be there.

Leftist indoctrination factory. One "professor" in particular doesn't offer any valuable experience and teaching shouldn't be part of this person's life. Chrissa Mae Kalal, a transgender adjunct professor at Portland State University’s geography department offers nothing to the public and provides nothing more than racial, gender and economic nonsensical "education" that contributes to the overall stupidity and regression of today's society.

Great professors, good students, abysmal administration. Upper management is cutting much needed programs to line their pockets and build new buildings that will just end up empty when nobody wants to come here anymore. Being a student worker is the worst, you are treated like a child while you do most of the work and all the people above you just send 3 emails a day and start drama. All for min wage, no benefits, and no protections.

Portland State University offers an exceptional educational experience. The campus is vibrant and diverse, with a strong sense of community. The faculty is dedicated to their students' success, and the range of academic programs ensures that there's something for everyone. Whether you're pursuing a degree or attending an event, PSU is a hub of learning and creativity in the heart of Portland.

If you are disabled, in the lgbt, or enjoy thorough communication with the faculty and administration, this place is not for you. This place has crushed me, discriminated against me, handled complex problems as though I were a nail, and failed to educate me. This place is a waste of money and time, and every student I know who goes here has at least 2 problems with this school.

As someone who graduated in 2016, I can tell that the tuition increased immensely from my first year in 2011. Fees increased quarter after quarter, year after year. And lots of odd fee categories were added, ex building fee. PSU, generally speaking, is not the best university around, but also not the most expensive one either. Get a good degree and quickly get out.

It was interesting to open a market for fresh fruits and vegetables in college. It looked small on the outside, but there are far more than 100 schools. There were not many students on vacation. I bought Viking-shaped pitches as a souvenir.

Went here to see a friend who did a grad study. I was impressed with how green and well designed the campus was. Its a peaceful enclave located very near from downtown.
