I went into this cafe today, on a cold, gray Saturday afternoon. It was like stepping into quiet, comfortable and cozy place. I was greeted by the inviting smile of Sneha ( I asked her name later), and she and Jiwon were very helpful and forthright when I asked about the inviting desserts laid out nicely, inviting me to acquire a couple of hundred additional calories with ease. The shared info helped with my decision: The scones, banana cake, cookies and bars are made from scratch in the shop, while others (like the croissant and donuts) were baked from pre-supplied frozen dough. (All looked great!). I settled on the banana cake and it was filling, hefty and delicious. One corner of the cafe is brighter, supplying more overhead lights to help with doing work on laptop or writing in notebook. The other side is a bit darker, suitable for deep conversation with friend over a hot cup of Americano or latte. Tall, window-side tables seemed suitable if one was solo, and wanted to people watch or do some quiet reflection. The music adds to the warm, happy atmosphere but not loud enough to be annoying. Outside the cafe, there is enough traffic to supply quiet ambient traffic noise. That section of Fraser street is not too busy such that one can hear constant and impatient honking that seems to easily break concentration at other coffee shops by busy streets in this town. I will be back as this is becoming a go-to for enjoying a cup of coffee and dessert ( did I mention that the carrot cake looks super delicious? ) in the midst of quiet and good ambience. A location with a small coffee shop feel, despite it being a chain.

First time here, had a quinoa breakfast bowl without the egg and an iced Americano at 1:25pm on a Tuesday. There were lots of seats available, both high and low chairs. The staff at the counter were kind enough to let me know that the cold brew was strong, which allowed me to consider the iced Americano option. The display case is well stocked with baked goods and I was relieved to find an item on the menu that my restricted diet of no wheat, no dairy, no eggs, no corn, no nuts can accept. Tables were clean, sugar and creaming station was clean and tidy and the atmosphere is one I can imagine settling into for some writing or visiting with friends. The music was not too loud and despite having lots of concrete and tile, the sound doesn't echo too much, as I find it can in other modern industrial designed shops. Special mention for parents, there are highchairs and a table in the woman's bathroom. The location is particularly convenient for parents of cats/dogs going for a grooming at the neighborhood pet parlour a few doors down. I would definitely come here again. I definitely prefer the service, food and feel of this location to the Prado on commercial drive. Well done Prado Fraser St.

The service and quality has gone down terribly. Came in and got a drip coffee and noticed there was no cream or milk on the counter... I asked for cream and the guy says "we're all out". What kind of coffee shop doesn't keep inventory for when they are about to run out of cream? What's next? They'll say they're out of coffee? LOL. Ridiculous. The brown sugar was left out in the open and was all hard...there was a dirty spoon sitting next to it to scoop with. Classy. I ordered the "Prado Breakfast"... can someone train the staff how to toast the bread so that it's not burn and rock hard? I could not for the life of me cut it with a knife nor could I bite into it! It was ROCK hard! It's unfortunate that I live in the area and it used to be a great place but very poor quality now. I wish starbucks was still here in the area but unfortunately they closed during Covid :(

I often go to the cafe since it’s the best coffee near me. Always delicious tasting americanos and espresso! However, I’m afraid that the food is not great and terribly overpriced for the quality. I’m not usually one to leave a critical review, but after years of going here, I was especially disappointed today when getting a very undercooked scone (it was completely raw inside). The avocado toast isn’t bad, but for that, a side of bacon and a scone for $20 before coffee, I’d rather spend my money on a quality breakfast restaurant. I returned the undercooked scone and the lovely people working let me exchange it for anything, so I took the chocolate croissant which I can’t really finish because it’s so dry and stale. Food quality definitely doesn’t match the service and coffee quality at this location.

This remains a Vancouver standard. But, a big but, it is not the leader it once was. In a way, it feels a bit like the slip of Cafe Art - but not as bad. Everything is good, even very good, but not great. And, with its pedigree, the Vancouver consumer does and should expect great. I really liked my mocha, and really liked my Earls Grey Scone. Donuts looked very good. In each case, though I know there are better. Even the 49th parallel beans are now leaning more to the darker side where the origins led the way to well extracted specialty coffee. Floors were surprisingly dirty, even for this time of year. Windows could have benefitted from a good clean. Etc. It doesn't have to be an upside-down Tulip, but this is a standard bearer. I gave it 5 stars because it is still quite good, but I hope it works on being worthy of ten stars.

Hi Andrea, I also wanted to let you know how the service went down terribly compared to last year. I still remember the nice team members in the early morning serving coffee and breakfast. Ever since the renovation is done in the winter, everything changed. Early morning usually only has 2 staffs handling long queue, sometimes no breakfast. (I know you guys are trying to fix the kitchen earlier this year), but the favour is gone. The egg on toast is not the same... Instead of upgrading the environment, please invest in your people too. Maintaining the food quality and the service is something Prado Fraser still need to work on.

Seriously, thanks I haven't found a Tim Horton nearby, which was the easiest spot for a breakfast an outsider is likely to have in mind to be practical. Prado's could not give a much better surprise to my morning. Had the ham sandwich which comes filled with a herb frittata, a delicious cheddar cheese, ham itself, accompanied by a small but delicious green leaf salad. Although I am more used to South American/Old Fashioned coffee, this was the best Americano mug I have had so far in Canada, not kidding. The girl behind the counter along with her typically Canadian colleague treated the kindest way ever in a counter order style place. Thanks for making my outsider on vacation day really better.

I came to this cafe to get work done (transcribing interviews using headphones), and I purchased lunch and a beverage and later a pastry. Instead of making me aware of their plans for construction, I had to endure the ear-piercing sound of drills and constant commotion while trying to do my work for the next few hours. The cafe did not close for this construction, but assumed that it would okay to charge patrons for lunch and a coffee in a disruptive construction zone in which it is impossible to enjoy them. Take note Prado: Customers are not coming into your coffee shop to experience your construction projects. If you want customers to return, I suggest conducting your remodel after hours.

It seems like one of the most common findings among cafes are the arrogant and unknowledgeable staff who act like they don’t care about anything. Prado is not like that at all! The several times I’ve been here all staff seem genuinely friendly, like they actually care about their work. The coffee is really good I’ve had both cold and hot drinks and they’ve been delicious every time. They have a couple vegan items, a scone and a power ball I think - both are really good! This location is completely out of my way for my day to day life between home and work but I like going there on my days off because it’s just such a nice environment.

  • Gabriel C

Came by two weeks ago. Raining weekend. Cashiers were great and friendly. Muffins and drink in hand. However waiting for a pea and avocado sandwhich for 15 mins. Guy making the food was walking around the whole cafe saying a customer's timidly. Then a second person dressed as a cook was complaining about why it was so busy and just standing around. Telling ppl to hurry up jokingly. I get the relaxed vibe.. but use the pick up window properly. And maybe a number system is easier to get customer's attention. As they forget what they order. Also prices are kinda up there.

Excellent local roaster in Vancouver. They're passionate about what they do and it shows. Great beans, exquisite roasts, always evolving selection, comfy and accommodating seating. The staff are very friendly and answer weird questions about coffee with a smile. The small batch brews of their in-house single origin beans that are delicious, cold and refreshing, and still retain some of the nuanced flavor notes and profiles you might like in a pour over of your favorite roast.

I was there for the breakfast. It could vibe there quickly with nice small of coffee in the morning. Some local people there for their breakfast with different range of ages which is interesting. I got oat latte, butter croissant so fresh and buttery. Because I wanted to spend more time there I got another americano too. Highly recommend this coffee shop.

Not your average coffe shop. Seems to have some hipster vibe to it. Got the bacon and wife got the ham. Nothing to complain about but nothing noteworthy. Got the black tea and have it served in a small pot that holds the same amount of water as my mug at home and I love my tea. 4/5 will come back if in the area again. Missing that “something” to make it a 5. Maybe those eggs will make it a 5 if I manage to come over when they are serving it since they serve those only 8am-1pm.

I'm not sure if you can really call it a cafe. On a Sunday morning, only 2 staff members were handling everything, which seemed to be quite a heavy workload. I had the Egg sandwich if you can call it that The coffee was excellent! pS, if you need a cutlery set, be aware that they only have plastic ones that break easily, making it difficult to cut bread. The price and quality of the food didn't match up at all, and overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

  • Robert Gilfoyle

It's great to have Prado in the neighbourhood; they really know how to make coffee (use 49th Parallel beans and the Baristas understand how to get the best from them). The food is home cooked, reasonably priced and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere welcoming. Here's hoping that they extrend the opening hours beyond 6:00 pm - they are good enough to attract people beyond that time. So far, so good. Rob (sometimes know as Ian by Lauren)

1st time here at 1:40pm on a rainy day,, place was packed, with lots of 20-30ish people taking the entire table working on their laptop. The table is a bit high for me with my 5'1" height. Want to try their Prado breakfast but they said they don't do any more egg dishes after 1pm. Got the Avocado toast yet not impressive, the avocado spread was blend & a bit on the sour side. I've tried Ubuntu nextdoor, the food & environment is much better.

I find that going to coffee shops in Vancouver is like a gamble. $7 for a latte with oatmilk. I was hoping for a nice latte art but the barista made no attempt. I can do a better one at home. Disappointed. $1.25 to sub for oat milk is probably one of the most expensive one I saw in Vancouver. Would not recommend.

Full of thousand love for this place! I do like prado's london fog which is not too sweet, not too bitter but just fair enough tea latte for me, but among their several branches I dare say the best prado is on fraser. This place is little hot when you're inside and spending an hour or more than that when it comes to the weather like this summer.. But upside of the prado is that they have cold sparkling water free of charge.

Got a large vanilla latte. It was fantastic! Silky and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. I was a little surprised to see the cup size as I had imagined a large size to be bigger. Lots of free street parking and outdoor seating.

Prado seriously has the BEST London fogs in the city. They use actual loose leaf tea from a local Vancouver company. I can’t get a London fog from any other cafe in the city now because I only want them from here! Only giving 4 stars because for whatever reason 9/10 times when I order a scone it’s always under cooked in the middle and doughy, which makes it non-edible. But everything else is great.

  • Tanvi

Really friendly staff. Top notch beverages and pastries. Relaxed ambience. We had an Americano Misto, a London Fog and a Matcha Latte. They were delicious! So were the carrot cake and the Breakfast Cookie. Looking forward to a return visit!

Brilliant drips and lattes. Their medium roast is really good. The perfect combination of acidity, sweetness and bitter. Got a drip for myself and latte for my wife. Discovered that raspberry syrup could taste really good in a latte today. Never had a raspberry latte before. Both amazing! Also their Cheddar scones are to die for.

I ordered a turkey club sandwich to support my favorite neighborhood cafe but they had forgotten to add the cheddar cheese in my sandwich which was kind of sad as I had spent $12 on a sandwich that I didnt eat. I couldnt eat it because it was so dry without cheese. Not exactly how I want to start my morning. Would have gave 2 stars but lady on the phone was nice.

I am a huge fan of Prado coffee shops always the best coffee in Vancouver. This location lives up to the others and happy to have one so close to my work. Great coffee and wonderful staff along with a trendy cool interior you can't ask for anything more of a coffee shop! I love you guys now you need to open one more near my house, fingers crossed!!!!

  • Lisa Newhook

Good coffee - they use parallel 49th, so you can’t go wrong there, and a good food selection, but my word, one of the absolute worst chai lattes I’ve had. The thing just tasted like marginally spiced milk, and they measured out the chai powder, so I’m assuming it wasn’t made in error…i was in a rush, so didn’t have time to ask for something else.

  • Tricia C

Great coffee shop with a nice list of sweet and savoury food choices. The coffee barista Zeth makes an artistically beautiful and tasty latte and mocha each time I have visited. Individual table, window bench and communal seating is available with free wifi and some electrical outlets. Chill music. Nice place to work on a rainy day.

  • Annika L

Something has happened to the quality and efficiency at the cafe after there was a staff turn over. I recently had the barista forget to make a drink on my order and walk back to the kitchen for 5 minutes before I reminded him about the other drink. And today it’s just very slow and the floor is filthy…. they seem understaffed.

The people were great working there but I witnessed something sad. The lady probably manager(asian) were treating very rudely to someone working there. Noone deserve this kind of rude and arrogant behaviour by manager. Im sure there are better people who can manage their store and treat their employees nicely.

  • Robert Kent DesRochers

Good choices in food although my westcoast toast was more toasted then what I prefer. The raspberry bar was delish. Adequate indoor and outdoor seating, if waiting for your coffee at one end of the bar it is a cluster to get out as you are constantly asking people to move if busy. Peppermint tea was good.

  • Jonathan Loree

Coffee was good and food reasonable with fast internet connection available. The space was very loud as the kitchen is open to the main area and they were using a blender intermittently which made conversation and work challenging which would make me select a different coffee shop in the area next time.

  • Demi Pinsonneault

Don't mind the coffee here and I appreciate how early they open. But it seems like they're ok with serving old pastries and charging the same price. Got a croissant this morning and it tasted so stale. I'm all for saving on food waste but you shouldn't charge the same amount if you're selling old stock.

Serving espresso based drinks made from 49th Parallel Coffee. Find 49th's coffees tend to be acidic, even their low acid Old School Espresso. Tried a very good chai latte here. In house baking and savoury options are very good. Very hipster design to this cafe, with two rooms.

The wait is long and gruelling. They make everything with care and love. You will sit there dying with each passing second. Other people will be grabbing their drinks to enjoy while you wait. Then, accompanied by your last 1% of patience, your drink is ready and you are free.

The service was great and the place was cute! Personally I found their coffee to have a weird sour taste to it, which was disappointing. The Latte presentation was pretty but it also had that same taste. Their cookie although was delicious I’d go back for that. …
