Someone tried to get into my room in the middle of the night! They knew the building entry code and they used a key. Fortunately I had the security latch on and they were unable to enter. I reported it to Andrew at reception the next morning but there is no cctv. 2 days later gave a follow up call to ensure this could not happen to anybody else. Andrew was very abrupt on the phone telling me he didn't know what response I was expecting. I said that the lock on room 22 and the building entry code will both definitely need changing. Andrew said good idea to change the code but the lock is unable to be changed (really ?) very unhelpful and not hospitable at all. I told Andrew I will write this review and he welcomed it. DON'T STAY IN ROOM 22 or better still, don't stay at Princes at all.

The hotel although looking nice from the outside is a big disappointment. We stayed in the family room and it was filthy with spider webs everywhere, a pillow in the cupboard that was full of dust and staff that are not polite. My daughter accidentally left a pair of sunglasses in the room and they had the nerve to take out an extra full nights accommodation for the inconvenience of finding them. Since when is customer service such a burden. Their breakfast range is limited and boring and the parking is cramped. They also charged us for the leaving the room untidy because the beds weren't made. It is a motel. They should change the sheets between guests and not leave them on the bed. What a ridiculous policy. Avoid this place if you do not want any unexpected charges later that are just ridiculous for a customer service industry.

TOTAL DISSAPOINTMENT! Room No.16 13/15 degrees average, and no heating in the corridors; only in our room, a very, very, very old noisy heater impossible to sleep when it was on; the bathroom is the best freezer in the world. Dinning room at freezing point; they put the heater on, just for a while.- Buffet breakfast ? WHERE ? Cereals, bread, some jams, butter and canned peach; apple and orange juice, instant coffee, tea and milk-end of the story; EVERYDAY THE SAME! it looks like nobody care for the building, everything is old and in very bad conditions, the furniture, the doors, the lights, etc. It is a pity because it was, in the past, a wonderful mansion. The last good comments , are from 2014; nowadays, there is nothing to recommend; only the staircase to the upper level, and the carpet.- Even 1 star is too much!!!!!!!!

Do you want the experience of being on the set of Fawlty Towers but without the dysfunction? Then this is the place. First impressions admittedly were not great. I drove into the car park and was a little disappointed by the cracked walls and faded parking lines. But it has won me over. Beautiful old world charm with modern amenities like free WiFi, air conditioning and television. You do get a private bathroom but it can be quite a walk from your room so don't forget to take your key and make each visit count, you'll soon get sick of the commute to pee. It's not perfect but the building and the location make me feel good. Value for money is very near unbeatable, being this close to the city. And yes, I did say FREE WiFi.

Was planning on staying here but when I called and asked the Lodge Manager if the rooms were tidy he hung up on me. I called back and told him he was very unprofessional for hanging up on me for asking a standard question regarding their rooms. To which he replied “How did you want me to respond? I’m sure you’re the type of person to complain about spider webs.” I am shocked and appalled by his attitude and feel very disheartened by the response I received just for asking a simple question. If your intention is to stay here for longer than a night - wouldn’t you want to know if the rooms are up kept ?

Have stayed here twice and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. The setting is rustic, but I've always found the service to be friendly and courteous, the breakfast excellent and overall a peaceful and pleasant place to stay. If you have a choice in a room in the mansion, ask for one on the back side, as the front can be a little noisy with traffic at night (that part is out of the control of management). Within 5 minutes walk from O'Connell Street, it has all of the comforts you would need for a short to medium term stay. Andrew, David and Adam all do a great job.

I have driven to here twice in a night to pick up and drop off my friend from interstate, therefore I cannot review much about the facilities inside. However, the lodge has a drivethrough at the front which allows easy pick up and drop off. It is although located in North Adelaide, it is on one of the quiet side and hence while you get all the benefit of being walking distance away from many nice restaurants, I am sure you can also enjoy a quiet relaxing resting night at the lodge. Being right in front of a parkland is always a plus with the view, and nearby community facilities such as tennis court and playground.

I've been staying at the lodge for the past 2 years it's in a great location only minutes from adelaide oval and the CBD also the lodge is only a short walk from O'Connell street in north adelaide that has many cafes and restaurants to choose from the rooms at the motel are clean and when u stay it includes a continental breakfast each morning in the dining room and the owners Andrew and David and Adam who works there are very friendly and make u feel welcome and make your stay enjoyable I recommend it's good value for money very good place for families or if u just simply need somewhere affordable to stay

Stayed here for the 2nd time. On a quiet street opposite a open paddock with horses. 1st time when on 1st floor, could smell smoke from other room. this time on ground floor, room is nice. Breakfast included as well. The current management is not continuing the lease, so might be changing management this year.

I chose this motel because it was the lowest price available. To my surprise, it was a gracious, attractive old building. The service was gracious too. I can thoroughly recommend this motel to anyone not hung up on "modern" appearance and all the bells and whistles. I'd have rated it with 5 stars except for 2 things: 1. They could save money and be more environmental, e.g., dual flush toilets and low-volume shower heads, and through half a dozen measures in how they use electricity; 2. The little fridge in my room periodically whinged throughout the night.

  • Philip Gordon

Hotel decor is dated, but it's close to city and Nth Adelaide shops, right on the free bus route to the city, parking and continental breakfast included. Modest rates and it's a winner for me.

Extremely unimpressed with the phone call I received from staff after my online booking did not go through. He was so rude which was completely uncalled for considering that I had voiced that I was confused as to why my booking had not gone through. The staff member was rude and when I tried to explain he hung up on me. Glad that my booking did not go through, I couldn’t imagine having to actually stay as a guest with staff like that working there.

Great accom and great hosts. Loved the place. Not any more. New people taken over. 4 nights always cost me $530. Since this lot took over 4 nights went to $849. That is price gouging. Old building and ok but not for their price. Give it a miss. Greedy people do not deserve your custom. And they are not dinky di.

We stayed for a few nights. The hosts were amazing. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Yet they were never imposing. It is a very clean and stately old building with beautiful yesteryear features and modern conveniences. The rooms are a good size and the included breakfast is a fantastic way to start the day. Very close to the heart of Adelaide and the city free buses. Thank you I wish they all had this charm.

Very clean, comfortable beds, free WiFi and parking, split system in the room, we loved the decor and the breakfast was surprisingly good for being a continental breakfast - they even had soy milk. Really good location and the staff was so helpful with explaining all the public transport to us. We will definitely be back!

A very charming motel . The room was very spacious, not new but with a lot of character. It reminded me of my guest house when I studied in London back in the days - amazing memories. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the continental breakfast - simple, but tasty. I would anytime go back to Princes Lodge Motel, should I go back to Adelaide. I also enjoyed the 40 minutes walk to the city center and China town.

  • Peter Harden

A fantastic grand 1913 mansion overlooking the parklands in the centre of Adelaide (North Adelaide) only 15 minute walk to Adelaide Oval. A very reasonably priced Motel with all facilities you need for a comfortable stay with ensite rooms and rooms with a shared bathroom with a Continental Breakfast included in the tariff. Book direct with this Well Managed Motel and enjoy your stay as we did for 4 nights.

  • Avicenna

Having breakfast, we could not calm down our little son, no matter how hard we tried. The motel guy poked his head into breakfast area as a matter of factly and told us that we needed to keep him quiet, as if we were entertaining ourselves with the little man shrieking! Overall, there is a reason for a motel to be rated 3 stars but even for 3 stars it was a shocking experience!

  • Ebony Prince

Called up on a Sunday, they stated a deposit was not needed, then called up on the following Thursday too book in for 3 nights, and they wanted a $200 deposit, andrew was extremely rood over the phone, I would of loved too stay there with my daughter but after the customer service I got from Andrew I will not be staying there

the best/cheapest priced hotel accommodation in North adelaide. Breakfast is very basic- cereal, toast and coffee. The room was very tired and worn but clean. The building itself is in need of some maintenance. A short walk to the free bus service that runs all around Adelaide cbd. A short walk to O'Connell st with a good range of pubs, restaurants and a 24hr bakery.

Large family room, clean and well presented. Location and price can not be beaten. We had to change our plans and the manager was very helpful. And finally our daughter left a small Xmas present in room and the managers were happy to post it back to us. Highly recommend!

We stayed here on a Friday night in a standard family room in the coach house. It was reasonable quiet for a city location and clean with useful amenities. The continental breakfast was simple and wholesome. The room is not five star but for a convenient hotel out of the city centre it is good value. We will stay here again.

Very clean and tidy budget accommodation, with breakfast included you really can't do wrong. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Only downside is you are over the flight path to Adelaide airport and quite a lot of jets go over, however we didn't lose that much sleep because of this.
