Enjoying a private cinema to see the Oppenheimer film. "A story from my current Life experience since I am going to observe the Oppenheimer film. As You are all aware the nuclear age started at the University of Chicago. I graduated from the U. of Chicago in 3 years with a degree in Chemistry in '86 before I graduated from DePaul University with a Juris Doctor degree in '90. Professor Nathan Sugarman who worked on the Manhattan project was my honours Chemistry teacher. The place was and is teeming with this planet's greatest quite unconscious minds. How did/does the University of Chicago and all other major Universities around the planet fail their students and HuManity? Answer: They fail to provide courses in Metaphysics, namely, how this 3D realm really works. In fact, I have to say that the administrators there are pretty stupid. Why? When I returned to Chicago a few years ago after my European travels, I met with high level administrators there to establish a new University department, the Czeslawa Ziarno Department of Metaphysics in memory of my Mom. The deal was to provide a 40 million USD endowment for the new department. The University proposed allocating funds to existing departments. I said NO. Hence, no deal for them. Butt, I know how the Law of Attraction/Creation/Vibration works as did Nikola Tesla (now reincarnated), Einstein and Heisenberg. So this new department manifests at the perfect time. My sister, Diane Ziarno, is also a U. of Chicago graduate and currently a high level executive there. She is named President of the University at the perfect time. Why is it imperative that students know about and master the use of The Laws of Attraction/Creation/Vibration? Answer: These Laws explain everything (Yes, I said EVERYTHING) You experience in Life. What the unconscious call 'random events' are actually experiences YOU HAVE CREATED, unconsciously or deliberately. There are many Conscious Life Coaches who can teach You how to master and use The Laws. Use their services. They are priceless." W. I went in July, the day the Barbie movie was released. I called beforehand to inquire about seating. I had two little girls with me and wanted to make sure they would be able to sit next to me. I was informed that I had to come in and get the tickets and that it was best to come a little earlier as seats are first come first serve. So I asked what if it was sold out by the time I made it. She said, “We don’t usually sell out.” When I got there, there were quite a bit of people but no long lines or anything. I walked near the concession area and a man asked me if I had a ticket or needed one. He asked what time and how many. I told him the time that I had discussed with the lady on the phone. He said it was sold out but they had two times available, around 9 and 10. I found it hard to believe that they wouldn’t sell out when she told me that but I went with it. Maybe they didn’t plan to sell out. It’s 6 pm so I turn to my friend and ask if she wanted to wait that long. Before I could turn back to him and give him an answer, he tells us to take our conversation elsewhere and fans his hand at us. There was another employee sitting next to him. I looked back shocked like “Is that really how you talk to customers?” The other employee said nothing. I don’t usually leave reviews but that was very rude. At that point, I was over it. We took the girls to another theatre. It’s a very nice place but the customer service is horrible.
I went to see the spider man movie with my son and the experience was absolutely horrible... The ticket clerk was absolutely rude and disconnected she was on her phone when I came up which wasn't an issue but she waited until she was done texting to even acknowledge I was there and she asked "do you need a ticket?" with an attitude, I'm not sure if she thought I was there to waste her time or mine it was far from either. When I asked for two tickets for spiderman she look at me as it I was disturbing her and said it's sold out and I ask was it for the 330 show because it was about 215 she looked at me as if I should've known. I settled on the 630 ticket and she literally threw my receipt down... The ticket taker and concessions clerk I spoke with were very pleasant... Then I went in the theater and it was filthy and I spoke with someone about it and he said they'll do the best they can with the ppl in there but that was a joke... Not sure if I'll be going back
From the moment I started at the ticket booth to sitting in the movie where ALL the projectors went out had a terrible experience. The ticket salesman was stuck on her phone, I watched my friend constantly ask if the card went through while paying because she wasn’t paying attention. When I paid, she said next WITHOUT EVEN GIVING ME MY TICKET, I literally had to freaking ask for my ticket. That’s just embarrassing. I get people will use their phone at work. It’s just the world we live in. But serve your customer THEN play on your phone. This has easily been the WORST experience I’ve had at a theatre. Get your staff in check. No one needs to be let go. But they need to be trained and taught how to give good customer service. Also, find a way to add an additional desk. Concessions SHOULD NOT also be customer service. What a joke. I will not be returning to this awful place. I hope you get staff that care before it becomes a failure. Good luck.
really used to love this theater; now, not so much. I remember when there was an option to pick seats, press a button at your seat and your meal would be brought out to you. The bar used to be nice.. now it's just basic. The whole place is just basic--there are no longer meals to purchase, only hot dogs, nachos (if it's in stock) or popcorn. Very minimal options to choose from now. The place needs to be updated. The chairs are old from previous management.. the buttons are still there which again no longer work. I can say the bartender was very nice, he was actually the gentleman at the post when you first arrive checking the tickets. The staff in the snack area seemed a little lost. This used to be such a great place to go and watch a movie. I hate that it's fallen off, especially being in the location it's in.
UPDATE: Tried to again tonight 2/16 old popcorn even when I asked for fresh, walked in TWO minutes late and somehow missed the previews AND opening credits, screen messed up twice revealing spoilers, AND they refused to give me a full refund. Don’t do it, drive to Westbank, Kenner, elmwood or even the north shore, or catch a flight and watch the movie on Delta before trying to come here. I’m not sure why but they NEVER have fresh popcorn- it’s always stale. It’s like they pop it all right when they open for the entire day and that’s what they serve- I don’t get it I really don’t think it’s too much to ask for when it’s $8 and this isn’t a busy theater. If you can go somewhere else, do it!!!
Ok these reviews have to be 100% fake or by employees . This is by far the worst theater I’ve been to. The employees nice but we had to move to another Auditorium due to the screen having to many blemishes and broken/damaged seats. The next Auditorium the same exact thing but we are already frustrated and just decided to watch the film. I get it that’s it’s old but at this point you are just stealing from people . I would have left but my kids had their hearts set on watching this movie . Just needs to be updated bad. Just being honest if you choose to pick one. Just a photo below to give you an example of what this place looks like.
People were on their phones while the movie was playing, which was very bright and distracting. Nobody that worked at the theater made anyone get off of their phone either. We almost walked out because of that, but didnt. Then about a half an hour in to the movie (Wakanda Forever), the screen went dark. People were starting to get restless, none of the employees at the theater made any kind of announcement, so we just got up and left at that time. What a waste of a total of $23. Its a ghetto movie theater in an upscale mall/hotel within the shops at the Canal. 10/10 do not recommend. We will never go back.
This is a super cool little theatre in the mall. I really wanted to visit the main Prytania theatre, the Broad, and Zeitgeist, but only had time to visit this one in my trip timeline. Loved the seating layout, although the seats weren't as comfortable as recliners, and the screen and sound were good. It was a little drafty and you could hear the building shift at times, but the movie I saw was a ghost story so I think it worked with the overall experience of it. Really cool video wall too- I used to be on a Rocky Horror shadow cast so was cool to see that whole setup
Of course any movie theater in the mall is going to be awesome. The huge digital display upon entering the theater is cool to see from a distance but a blurry as you walk pass them. The cool temperature was welcomed with the New Orleans heat. The seats are red leather and alternates table and cup holder arm rests. The theater is intimate yet spacious because the seats are big. There was even an ottoman so you can elevate your feet. It’s was clean and sanitary as well as the restrooms.
I've been coming here for years, before the pandemic and when they reopened afterwards. It's a nice place. They usually have all of the big, major movies. It's a standard priced movie theater if you ask me. The concession stand has basic movie theater food ( popcorn, nachos, hotdogs, Icee etc. ) Nothing too extravagant and nothing horrible. Convenient location for tourists. Every Tuesday the tickets are $6 all day. Matinee tickets are $8. Regularly priced tickets are $13.
Not a bad theater. It doesn’t have the full recline seats but it does go back and it is plush and leather. The service was good and fast given nationwide staff shortages. They show a good selection of movies. The theater seating is pretty limited but I do prefer this as you have less people to deal with. The smaller theaters definitely make for a better viewing experience too. Icey was well mixed and popcorn was fresh. Overall I would recommend.
Love the smaller size of Prytania Theatre at Canal Place. Makes it quieter and cleaner as it is likely faster for the staff to clean. It has extremely comfortable seats and a nice amount of space between each row. It could have been a little darker, however. The staff was wonderful, swift,, and to the point with queries. I do recommend Prytania Theatre at Canal Place and have already been over the years several times and name changes later
Don't do it, girl. It's not worth it; don't do it. Pro: the seats are really big and comfy and have tables for your food. Cons: - the screens are quite small - the volume is SO poorly calibrated! It was so loud I wished I had earplugs, no joke. I ended up jamming my ear phones into my ears and it was STILL so loud my date and I wished we'd left and got our money back. The cons far outweigh the pro. I won't be back.
Me and my date went for the resident evil screening. The seats we were sitting in were broken and both our drinks were flat. The staff was not very helpful with our problems and acted rude/aggravated that we asked for help. It's not what it used to be. I'm now wanting to look for a new theatre to go to from now on. As a movie buff, I was very disappointed my regular theatre has fallen so far from what it was.
This theater is inside a posh mall and you can buy your tickets online or at the machine in the entrance. They show both commercial and artsy movies. At the time I went, the matinee was $8 and the regular ticket was $13. There's a small concession that offers basic cinema fare. The screens and the sound systems are fine but some of the seats need to be reupholstered. I did not see many employees around.
Great theater. Always show top movies. Lovely decor, polite employees. Chairs are so comfy, temperature perfect...and the sound is exceptional and not so uncomfortably loud like other theaters I've been to. The only thing that was a bit on the negative side is the squeaky noise the chairs make when you move, but I'd imagine over time when the new wears off, that will subside.
The outside of the theater room looks clean and trendy. However, when you get into the room the seats looks like a tiger filed their nails on them. Almost every seat in theater 7 was ripped. We actually came here because the seats reclines pretty good. Won’t be back until they get better seats. All my back hurts and the movie hasn’t started yet.
I did a private movie screening and my experience was nothing short of pleasant. The staff at concessions and the bar were extremely helpful and friendly. My private movie experience and the service made it worth it and I would definitely recommend!! Thank you Prytania theather for bringing cinema back to Canal Place !
We find that the Prytania Theater is a very nice place. The theaters are large enough and the seating is very comfortable. The concessions and bar are also very good. The staff is a little less than enthusiastic about helping people. Overall this is a very good spot to enjoy a movie and we like coming here.
Staff at the disk not friendly, he was not welcoming. He was asking me to read signs for food & order. He Didn’t handle my order (except card slip for signature) & kept them near to him so I reach out yesterday @5:20. Movie theater no. 8 was extremely cold Extremely bad experience
Really nice theater, its clean, comfortable, employees were very nice and its right next to the food court if you want to eat before or after the movie. Also whats really great is they can validate your parking so you can park 4 hours for $5 in the parking garage.
Loved it almost as much as the original Prytania or the old Canal Place theatres. The atmosphere was similar to a mix of the two. The theatre space was just the old Canal Place repurposed, but the vibe was very Prytania at the check in and such.
I've enjoyed the experience of watching a movie! snacks 7/10 (classic movie snacks) theater 10/10 seats comfortable and they even had leg rests! only bad part: a tad loud during beginning of movie but overall certified great theater!
A cool little theater, but a bad audience experience. Someone in the theater smelled like they were smoking weed and it gave me a headache. Several people were talking or one their phones, with one person taking photos of the movie.
I loved this theatre! It’s easy access with validated parking in the garage and they have great ticket / snack deals. The staff is friendly and the smaller theatre rooms are fun! Added bonus: vegan coconut butter on the popcorn!!
My husband I went last night for a 10 o' clock showing. The theater was extremely clean. The bathroom were spotless. And the refreshments were tasty. We also thought thw layout and design were awesome! Great experience!
Pros: Comfortable chairs Clean bathrooms Decent seating and sound Understanding staff Respectful cashiers Discount $6 ticket Tuesday Cons: Expensive concession prices Busy in leaving and entering Parking is a hassle
Wonderful theatre on the edge of the French Quarter. So glad they took over from the previous owners to bring movies back to Canal Street. Great bar, excellent popcorn and awesome staff. We will go again and again.
Great movies, popcorn is delicious and tastes fresh. I've been coming here for a few months now, and some of the screens have small dots or discoloration. Not too noticable unless it l the scene is really bright
We've watched 2 movies here in the last 2 days. Very comfortable. I'm missing the old days when we could order for and mixed drinks and they were delivered by a waiter. Yeah, we were a little spoiled back then.
Absolutely horrible there are giant holes in the ceiling nor do they clean the theater out of all the trash. Very rude employee at the concession stand and we had to wait till the very last minute to be let in
Friendly staff, great popcorn but the theater is a bit on the worn side. The comfortable recliners don't recliner because they were unplugged and raggedy. But it was only $6 on Tuesday to see first run movies.
The theater itself was a little old school. The seats need to be updated, but other than that, it was a pleasant experience. The staff was nice. We let them know about a leak in the front of the theater.
Honestly it's not the greatest theatre you'll ever go to but it's within walking distance, has a bar and you can usually get it at last minute without buying tickets in advance. What's to complain about?
The snack selection sucks. The nacho cheese for the nachos is horrible. The choices were much better before the change over. I miss the flat bread pizza, charcuterie and cracked pepper Parmesan popcorn.
Preview wasn’t long before movie by time i got my movie snacks the movie was on i don’t know what part of the movie was playing. I feel cheated out of my movie experience could have watched at home.
Prices are not that high - tickets are $13, popcorn combo is like $10 or $11. There's also other food restaurants nearby if you want to stop and eat before you get there, or want to bring food in.
It is fine but the AC stopped 3/4 through the movie. It the heat index is 108 outside. Not a pleasant experience but I didn't say anything to management so I guess I am the fool here.
Love the local Prytania Theatre is in this space now. Tasty treats and drinks, friendly staff and clean theatre. Awesome sound system too. Good all around with safe validated parking.
Prytania Canal Famed movie house, 9 new screens Small-town charm at Mall #NOLA_Haiku #ThePrytania #MovieTheater #CoffeeShop #Hollywood #NOLA #MovieHouse #ShopLocal #CanalPlace
Love this Theatre! Ever since the Prytania bought it has been a pleasure to go here. Great staff, food, snacks, sound and viewing experience. They validate parking too!
Always a good time! I miss the old service we had when it was Theaters at Canal Place but they are doing a great job and the popcorn is fantastic ( that’s all I need)!
Cute little theater but would not really recommend for large groups. The theaters are too small to accommodate more than 6 in a row. Customer service was nice though.
An average theater these days. It appears to have provided food and drink to you seat in the last but not now. The whole mall seems to be underutilized these days.
Small theater with 9 screens, the wide, semi reclining seats set the stage for a great cinematic experience. And the piano bar in the lobby is the cherry on top!
Good Theater..not what it was with Previous Management, but then again..might be why Old Managers had to leave. Smaller theaters, Comfortable leather Loungers
We had a great experience. Staff was awesome, lines for concessions were quick and the theater was very clean. We took advantage of national cinema day!
Saw two movies here this weekend. The seats were very nice….I like that they rock a little. The new screens were great and the staff was very friendly.
Finally New Orleans has a sophisticated modern multi-screen cultural cinema. I am so happy that Prytania took over Canal Place. I love this place.
It's an ok theater. Finding parking is a drag and the concession stand is small, but the seats are very large and comfortable so that's nice.
The best little movie theater that could. Small screens, but still a nice intimate experience. Decent seats and it gets the job done.
I've been watching movies at this location for years under different ownership. These guys are great. Also free refills on Icee's!
I love it I am one of there best customer I go there 3-4 times a week and all of the staff know me and they are very respectful
Small and clean. It was a little warm in the theater but it may have just been the strange weather in NOLA and the late night.
Great Movie theater 3rd floor of Canal Place mall... good luck with parking. It would be best to grab a rideshare to the mall
Nice theater multiplex at the top of the Canal Place shopping mall. Great seating. Nice snack bar and wet bar in the lobby.
The place is old... seating is old... part of the ceiling is exposed. Still, the viewing of the film was comfortable
Inside a mall. Not well marked. Good sound. Good air conditioning. Full of bored kids from the surrounding hotels.
Cozy movie theater. But slow - concessions and tickets at the same place - not good. I luckily beat the rush.
I like the theater, Nice, clean, the staff was friendly. I would go back if they show another horror movie.
Movie mariners at 8$ and very classy shopping as well as food Gare. Very plush downtown place with wifi!
They have comfortable chairs nice space stuff down and it was loud ☺️ will be coming again
Beautiful Shopping Mall. Very Spacious, we went to the movie theater …
Very fancy movie theater with good staff, clean showing rooms, and tasty concessions.
Nice theatre. The interior design is nice but an upgrade is needed for the seats.
Steak and shake pay cash. Multiple charges by accident from trainee at register.
Great theater. Small and cozy atmosphere. Not overly crowded. Great Staff.
I love this movie theatre, but the parking lots are always a hassle.
It’s ok. I miss the reclining seats and in theatre food service.
Easy to buy tickets, spacious seats and good air conditioning.
Amazing theater and I got the whole theater to my self !!!
It's everything you could expect from a movie theatre
Great theatre, weird mall. Park in the garage.
I get popcorn every time I come to New Orleand
Its always great clean friendly quiet as well
Six dollar movies on Tuesdays? I watch two!
Best Theater in New Orleans. $4 parking
You can't beat an $8 matinee.
