The fact it took 4 years to open and somehow hold less books than the first one is mind-boggling to me. For some reason the city decided to focus on the building being beneficial to the environment and a modern design then actual being a library. The grass on the roof is an interesting touch but you know what I would rather? A larger book selection, a separate quite room for studying, staff that don't seem to loath you for having the gall to take out a few books. Just not impressed with this library and the small selection of books spread out across the half empty shelves. Its also quite amusing that a worker of this branch gives here branch 5 stars as if she isn't completely biased. Also this worker claims that even though we have a "negative perception " (read that as "legitimate complaints") of the library, we should just be happy we have a library at all. Are you kidding me? Your response to people complaining about the library's service is "we are awesome, just be happy you have a library." Instead of lecturing us to be more thankful for the lackluster performance from a library branch that took 4 years and 10 million dollars to build, how about actually addressing the problems visitors have? If the city can spend 10 million dollars on the building and pay workers a salary to ignore the fact I'm waiting to check out books, the city should be able to fill the empty selves and employee workers who care about the visitors in this glorified greenhouse. Also Its nice that the library "cares" but if I don't see this "care" then it doesn't really help me if you claim its there. Also you can claim you "know for a fact employees go out of their way to help" but some of the people who come to the library don't feel that way. I was going to give the library 2 stars but because of the tone-deafness of the employee's review it has to be a single star.

There was a Chinese old woman with short white hair over there yesterday on Sunday，she was so rude and didn't respect people，i think the library should fire these kind of staff，not just because she was yelling at people（first time to experience this，the staff can yell at people in library as they like？what a powerful library），also i saw her playing poker when she was working，It's a bad image for the library and very unprofessional，she should learn how to be a polite person before as a staff，and she seems to like invading people‘s privacy，what the hell she think she is，it is like a hell to face her face. How come this uneducated person can work in library and made such bad effect around community！And what a danger that she can browse and catch all our information from the computer .Also she always disturbed people when we were doing our things，without any boundary！Crazy，Insane woman！Maybe she is the one needs a deeply metal help. If you need any assist，please go for another nice receptionist over there，otherwise your day is going to be screwed up by this old one，definitely！Not just the library，also the government should punish her because she is not allowed to treat people in library like that with such Low EQ in public. She needs to say sorry for her misbehavior！The last，she is too old to work there anymore，the library should not keep her if her attitude doesn't change！She should know about that！The staff represents library，library represents the education and the public！She doesn't seem to be qualified and up to her job！

I honestly agree with most of the negative comments. The area for the kids/toddlers is also claustrophobic and it's hard for moms and nannies to be able to be with kids in such a miniscule area. It all just feels so closed in and walk room just feels like you would bump into someone randomly so easily. I honestly was excited for the opening of the library only to be let down by a tiny kids area, tiny study table area where there happens to be a book shelf just behind the chairs there so people at the table need to constantly get out of their chair or squeeze themselves against the table in order to allow people get to the books, tiny walkways between bookshelves that can be daunting to just pass through, ridiculous opening hours(seriously opening so late is just upsetting) and a very snarky employee who has a habit of acting like they like shaming people. (Coming from a personal experience.) Things need to be fixed and for goodness sakes, please find a way to have the mommies and nannies park their strollers in a safe and secure area. (Outside the library would be an insecure area in case you think of it. People love stealing from strollers.) N.B: Also in response to that one worker who essentially said we should just be glad we have a library, just know I also travelled and have been to some badly off areas where they have a better organized library than this. All we ask is for proper structure in the library. It is a nice library but things need to be a bit more reasonable in there.

Working as the current branch Manager for Kew Gardens Hills has been a privilege for me. Having worked for Queens library for over 12 years I see the hard work our staff, throughout the whole borough of Queens in general, provide services for our community. They go out of their ways to assist patrons on immigration paper to simply assisting patrons assigning them on the computer. I know for a fact we go beyond our ways to assist patrons needs. I don't think there's anyone in Queens who is not fit to work at our organization not caring about people. Its what we do on a daily basis. That's why we are all fortunate to be working in this organization. We should all be grateful that the City of NYC supports libraries no matter what conditions the buildings is in ; Its the people who matter most and who we try our best to please them with our on going service. I've been in countries where there is no libraries and people struggle with poverty and illiteracy. We should be thankful that this country especially Queens Library gives us the opportunity to be successful whether its having access to the internet or attending to a job business academy, we have a chance to be somebody successful. For those that have a negative impression about Queens library, think about how fortunate we are to at least have a library that cares.

I got to the library whenever i need to print out someing but here is my experience. The place is loud and nobody really seems to notice that it is a LIBRARY not a cafeteria, plus there is a teen section but older people use it and dont understand that it is supposed to be SEPERATED. I was waiting in line to sign in so i could use a computer and i went to the teen section to see if there were any computers i could use and surely there was, when i went back on the line some old lady was there and she thought i was trying to skip her so she kept on reminding me that she was there before me, she was on the line and she wasn’t even signing in and one of the employees asked me to sign in and i gave them my card but when the employee was about to take it, this lady grabs it and slams it on the desk yelling that i have to wait like everyone, i didnt mind waiting but its just that this lady wasnt doin anything at all and she was being rude and she was pushing the scanning thing and basically she was being disrespectful, so far that is my experience there and if i want to be honest, the queens library in briarwood is MUCH better the librarians dont act like jerks when you ask them for help and ther are much kinder and the place has a much wider selection of books.

Let me tell you about this place. It was my first time going there on Sunday 3/13/2022. It’s a very nice building, spacious, comfortable desks and chairs, pretty clean but there is a big BUT. It’s very noisy because of the librarians are disrespecting the concept of the library. They are having loud laughs and conversations between them, without even trying to keep their voices down a little to whisper. One of them was ordering food over the phone while standing at the glass window and I could hear it at the other end of the room. I asked them to be more considerate and one of them apologized but they kept doing the same over and over again. Even when they are trying to help customers with books or computer or other services, they are yelling at the top of their lungs and it feels like they really don’t care that people go there to work and have nice and quiet environment. My friend also very respectfully asked them to keep quiet and they did so for like a minute and then they started having these loud talks again. I will definitely escalate this and submit official complaint. Hope somebody addresses it. It’s a really nice place to sit and do your work and it’s is a shame how librarians ruin it.

Alr I’m gonna tell you right now that I love this library, the only issue is the staff.. I’ve been yelled at my first time ever coming to the library not knowing how anything worked- it was so embarrassing.. now depending on the time and which day it is, you’ll find that there’s both super nice librarians there to help and super rude librarians who ignore you while you wait at there desk and short tempered enough to yell at you for needing help on your first day.. that’s the only reason I gave this 3 stars, if it wasn’t for the kind staff members I would give this zero stars if that’s possible.. but otherwise the vibe is pretty cool, can be packed at some points but overall pretty chilled.

Visit here at least once per week, most of staff is pleasant and helpful, but there is this one Caucasian guy at the front desk, he will hold his head down even while you try to verbally get his attention, I have started to go to anyone except him when I need help, 1st time I thought it was just a bad day so I like dismissed it but it happened 3 times after so I have decided to not approach him, very rude, very tall guy and dark skinned lady as well as everyone else I found pleasant and very helpful. Loove Mr. Myers awesome guy ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Library always clean and kids section well it’s a kids section love it there.

This library is only decent. This library opens WAY too late and closes too early. There is no reason for a library to open at 1 on a tuesday. The staff including the librarians are rude and even scream at the people. The librarians look like they hate their job. People have to literally stand in front of the librarian for minutes on end until they get help. Too much money was spent to create this library and there is no quiet room or teens room. They had a teens section but literally anyone can just go in there. It isnt a room that is seperated or has its own librarian. Its just an isle.

5 stars is for the fact we still have a library that is renovated. The bizarre "green design" which cost over $8 million to build this rather small structure with a roof that looks like it needs to be watered regularly. While the interior has been improved, this effort could have easily transformed the library into a much larger and efficient neighborhood resource, such as a second floor and more terminals and study areas for children. It reportedly expanded the internal capacity by about 38%, although it's unclear what that translates to practically.

Contrary to other reviewers, I have found the staff very helpful, go out of their way, and courteous. Amenities here are well above average. How ? The library is modern, clean, the book selection and maintaining the stacks is consistent. Two clean, gender-neutral bathrooms are here. Happy children's area. Some libraries don't carry any periodical subscriptions; KGH does. A wide open spacious library this is. The clientele here don't generally weird you out like they ordinarily do in Rego Park & Forest Hills. Need I say more ?

Wonderful experience here. The library is small yet packed with many useful features. The kids section is well equipped with books for all reading stage. There is no age minimum to open a card for the little one. So its nice to take kids to pick their own books, sit in one of the nicely decorated reading areas and enjoy reading time. The staff are knowledgeable and very pleasant.

Stopped by because it was conveniently open on a Sunday. The building was recently renovated (haven't been here before that). It is aesthetically pleasing and airy. There's a large selection of books, DVD's and seating. Children's section is loud, crowded, noisy and disheveled. Parking in surrounding area is very difficult.

I agree with some of the other posters here. I came here to get my child a library card. The children's librarian was nice but not the ones in the adult section. I was literally in front of 2 woman librarians who ignored me. Decided to go to another library, it's a shame because I live so close by.

The library looks nice but the selection is not that good! Please consider adding more book shelves to the teen section and fill up the book shelves! There are a lack of books in a library where books ought to be abundant. Thanks.

Mr. Cooper thinks she’s the private owner of the public library, dictating her own rules and regulations trying to enforce her imaginary invented laws… She forgot the meaning of the word public in the name public library.

It's extremely loud so don't go there for studying. The bathrooms are disgusting. It can get crowded and cramped. Long wait time to use a computer. Plus side is it's one of the few Queens libraries open on Sundays.

I went for my first covid testing ever and the staff was wonderful and comforting. I'm glad I came to this location. Disclaimer: This comment isn't based on the library as I have never been there before.

A place to cool off from the summer heat. If you need to use WiFi or use a computer and printer, they have it available. You may need a library card or your own computer, tablet or phone.

I love this place! It always saves my weekend with a good book. Also, as a Hebrew reader, the selection of books in Hebrew is pleasantly surprising.

It has become INTRIGUINLY / FASCINATINGLY loud! $7.3 million spent on a new library, not a soul thought about noise reduction where it matters most.

The Covid testing at this location was fantastic! Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. A big thanks to all these essential workers!

Children’s librarian very very rude. I stood there only to be ignored or looked over. Finally a helpful employee came to my rescue.

Amazing, it's freezing out but they do all pcr tests, rapid and 24-72 hours, no insurance, all they ask for is I.D, name.
