I called the restaurant on Saturday and specifically asked if they were open on Family Day and was told yes, so I made a reservation for my family. We were so excited to be able to go out for dinner with my 86 year old father as we were not able to spend Xmas with him. When we arrived for our reservation we were met with the restaurant not open. It was very cold and I am very upset that this happened. We have been going there for many years. If you decided not to open that day, a phone call would have been very much appreciated as you had my number. Restaurants are suffering but you don't seem to appreciate the business, so in the future we will take our business elsewhere! UPDATE: I called the owner as he requested in which he was sincerely apologetic. I would like to say thank you for the apology and for responding to me. We look forward to coming and seeing you.

Food tasted great.. But, it wasn't the food by itself that got my vote.. The service. And, not just what's your order/here's your plate. Friendly.. And not just pleasant.. But, You're my friend and I want to make your stay here comfortable. I felt like friendship was the goal.. Not making money. I want to go back to get to know them more. The buffet was coming to a close. But, before they took it away, they went to the tables that purchased plates for it to be sure they had enough first. Considerate. When I said I would have liked a little spice in my dish, I was offered to try a different one next time.. It wasn't the offer that stood out to me. It was the ten minute conversation that followed about his preference.. And the record collection he has at home. I only left because I was in a hurry. Not because he had better things to do. I felt appreciated.

I will never order from here again. The only reason I ordered from here was because my normal place is closed on Wed. The food quality is less than half of Chinese Harvest and so are the quantities. They only serve Wonton soup as an option for the meal deals where Chinese Harvest gives you big portion of Wor Wonton. The options for the meal deals were extremely limited. Where the other restaurant allows you to pick from their entire menu for options where it helps for people with dietary requirements. When the food arrived extremely late I had to double check everything and phone them back about a missing item which they told me would be rushed out. Everyone had finished their meals way before the missing item arrived and no compensation was offered. If you want awesome Chinese food I'd even recommend a malls food court before this place.

This used to be our family fave Chinese restaurant in my mother's area of town. Last night we ordered up about 65 bucks of food. Wow what a waste! Portions more expensive yet half the size of other restaurants. . Soggy spring rolls, mushy, pasty shrimp, cremated dried out pork with minimal S&S sauce to moisten it, cashew chicken were the chicken was so dry everyone passed. We ate enough to curb the hunger and the rest was tossed in the back alley garbage can where it belongs. What happened to you guys? So long Red Diamond House, you've lost a very large family of loyal patrons from 30 years ago with this consistently shoddy food. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Hello... OK the only reason I give 3 stars today is 1 st impressions !!! I drove up to the front door and the first thing I saw was a dirty ash tray right at the door !!!! Hmmm makes me wonder what else I would find so i decided to go in anyway and I have to say what a Fantastic Place ...Friendly people and I have to say very impressed with the Food..Good Job and it takes alot to get me to say that !!! Since I manage a Building in China Town here in Edmonton..... Great Location just please do something with that eye sore...1st impressions are always your 1st Money maker in any BUISNESS ....Cheers ...Hope this helps...

Me and my friend went to this restaurant on a whim, and I regret it so much. The place was empty, leaving a weird vibe. The waitress was relatively helpful, considering they didn't have what I planned on ordering (that was still on the menu). Then the food came out. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was as flavorless as the lint in my pocket. It had no appeal, no visual appeal, no flavourful appeal, no appeal in any sense of the word. Then, the worst part, it ended up being incredibly expensive. Way overpriced for the incredibly low quality food we received. Horrible experience, wouldn't return if it were for free.

I expect more from a $30 per person buffet. The msg riddled food left me with a headache and dry mouth. The seafood served tonite was tasteless boiled un-shelled shrimp, the same shrimp but only deep fried, and basa ( aka cultured bottom feeder slimey catfish) mixed with vegetables. Desert offerings were dismal. Oh, but if you like rice crispy squares, they have you covered. I passed on my 2nd plate - rare for me at a buffet. This used to be decent restaurant. Those days are gone. I would have had a better meal at the golden arches across the street. Honey, where's the Tums?

It's been about 10 or 12 years since I've eaten here. I stopped in as I was passing by about 6pm , I was the only person in the place which sits about 120. I was a bit concerned, I need not have been, I ordered the Cantonese chowmein one if my favorites, it came and was as good as before. Tender veggies a assorted meats and shrimp, very tasty. I asked about the slow customer action and she replied that they still had the same owners but like do my other businesses our economy sucks. If you are looking for a good value for your dollar Asian food check out the house

After spending nearly $100 on Chinese food takeout from this place, I can certainly say I will never be coming back. The fried rice was soggy and was not fried rice but a steamed rice. Some items in my order were missing which after a 30 min drive home I noticed. The food used to be amazing at this place but it has gone down hill. I will be staying with my usual place 10 mins away. Very disappointed in food and service.

Lots of seating available on a holiday. No reservations required. They do not offer a buffet. Their menu is extensive, you can share dishes if you like. Everyone ordered their own meal and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I ordered the lemongrass chicken on a birds nest and was disappointed. There was no hint of lemongrass and there was no flavor to the dish. The presentation was pretty cool though (see the pics).

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Edmonton. The food is delicious, generous portion and great prices. Highly recommend these mouthwatering dishes spring rolls, boneless chili chicken, frying shrimps with peaches for any customers. Thanks to master great chef Steve. Furthermore, the staffs are friendly and devoted to serve. Thanks for Mark, Robin, and Tracy, you make us feel so warm. Everytime I and my friends visit, we have wonderful experience and we enjoy so much that sure we will keep coming.

  • Canadianjay

Very courteous staff and accommodating for all of our needs. The buffet is closed right now but our waitress was kind enough to walk us through the various orders and what went good with what. I have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed. The menu has a large variety of western Asian cuisine. I am a huge critic when it comes to parking and I will say that is where the star was lost. Finding a parking spot can be a bit of a pain. I guess if they weren't that good this wouldn't be a problem.

  • Kay Kusi

Very average. You can get better at some fast food places. The service was lovely though. We had a really nice guy serve us. We ordered the peach prawns - definitely recommend, the pineapple chicken balls - standard but still tasty, green onion cakes - tasted a little like straight flour and the spicy dipping sauce had a really weird metal after taste, chicken Chow mein- didn't like this at all. The noodles tasted cheap and there was way too much sauce, and it was watered-down sauce.

  • shellraiser

Ordered delivery and it was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The chicken chow mein looked like soup -- it was practically floating in a slimy sauce. The pan fried vegetables also had this slimy sauce on them. The vegetable fried rice and lemon chicken tasted old, but the sweet & sour pork was decent. Had eaten inside the restaurant before and it was pretty good, but this was absolutely disgusting. Also, way over-priced. Will never eat there again. Wish I could rate it 0 stars.

  • Clark Wagar

I turned my wife and daughter onto Red Diamond House's food during the summer. Always been a favorite of mine, and now of theirs. But we moved much further south, just out of their delivery boundary. I hurt my back and couldn't walk, let alone drive to pick up our order. So the guy (I wish I knew his name), who took my order over the phone, came and delivered our food personally! That's what I call service! And as always, the food was fantastic! Thanks RDH!

  • Johnathan

Super attentive staff. Our family can tend to linger when we're all gathered (personal pet peeve of mine but only at restaurants) but we never felt rushed to leave, although it was after the dinner rush... Selection wasn't the best I've seen compared to other buffets in the city but there was a reasonable selection. I've been to much worse. I only really visited the steam line so I can't comment on the salad or dessert tables.

  • Kyle Gooding

One of, if not, the best place in Edmonton to get quality tasty hot amazing Chinese food! The menu is diverse offering all manner of meat dishes and vegi options including fish, duck, tofu and house specials! ( best green onion cakes in town hands down! ) The staff are also top notch and a dream to chat with and super helpful and courteous. Absolutely make an attempt to get down and Try it out you will not be disappointed!

  • Chris Smith

We were just looking for a random restaurant and came across this gem. Not only was the food excellent, but the service is the best service that we have experienced in years. From our server Victor who was very professional and friendly, to the owner who really made us feel like we were a part of the family. I highly recommend this restaurant for the amazing experience.

I came here for a work gathering. We each ordered one dish and shared them "family style" at a round table where the center spun around so we could easily share the dishes with everyone. Each dish was appropriately $12 each. We had a nice time! They have buffets of Fridays Saturdays and Sundays. We went on a Tuesday at 4:45pm. No one else was there but many take out orders were picked up or delivered.

Ordered for the first time, it was a half an hour late, there were no chopsticks or fortune cookies and, I just threw out my egg roll. mushy gross unrecognizable inner part. The Dry Ribs are covered with some sort of batter and are barely ribs,. The wontons seem stringy, like there is hair or too much sinew in the pork, I don't want to try anything else! I wish we'd ordered anything else!

  • Caroline Lakusta

If you have not tired Red Diamond, don’t wait any longer. This is by far the best place Chinese food restaurant in Edmonton. I have referred this restaurant to many friends and family that agree. We have been getting takeout here since I was a child – longer than I can remember! Everything we order is always delicious, hot, and packaged with care! Thank you, Red Diamond…you’re the best!

  • E C

Food was great and the service was excellent. This is a Chinese restaurant that does not automatically provide chopsticks so you know it is not as authentic but as a non Chinese person I really enjoyed it. The caring server made everything even better. I went for lunch buffet and it is priced very decently so I did not feel pressured to stuff myself too much. I will definitely go back!!

  • Christina S

Best Chinese food in the City for take out or dinning in. The restaurant is laid out well, kid friendly, and clean. The host and staff are friendly and welcoming. If you are doing take-out you get the best containers ever. Plastic ones, you can reheat in, wash and then use later for whatever you want. The food is delicious, just writing this review makes me want to order take-out.

  • Craig Thomas

We went for the Sunday Buffet, and where not disappointed. Large selection on the buffet tables. Clean, well run restaurant with friendly staff. Always checking our tabke, tiding up the plates or checking drinks. This can be busy at dinner time on Sundays, but no shortage of all the favorites. Good restaurant to visit on the corner of white ave. And 75 street.

  • brayden martel

Cheap buffet food that is actually good! I don't go to a buffet often but this is one in town that I can get behind. Great for gatherings and it's quiet which means you hardly get distracted by all the noise from other tables. Allowing you to focus on your dining party. Could use a small face lift inside though as it's definitely got an aged look to it.

  • brian anderson

The food orders are getting smaller and I'm not a big eater. There was too much salt that made it hard to eat. "Chicken fried rice." "Lemon chicken" very small order over cooked and somewhat burnt. Red Diamond used to be very good, but quality and quantity has dropped. They have a smorg that maybe better but not sure. Maybe they hired a bad cook.

  • Sherry Kherani

Went out with childhood friends food was ordered took long time to arrive and wasn't even hot ( temperature wise), and tasted poor at best... Soy sauce was in a dingy metal container on the table and wouldn't be surprised if it was weeks old.. wouldn't go back...sad we went there to remenisce over old times as we used to go there all the time...

  • Janelle Jackson

This place is great! A plate for the buffet is 20 bucks (drink not included) but it has a great selection and considering I went 40 minutes before the buffet closed, the food was still hot and they made more food if the people requested it. Not a huge selection of desserts but I ate so much that I did not even think about dessert …

  • Daisey Girl

This is one of the best Restaurants if you are looking to have a traditional Chinese Lobster Dinner cooked in their yummy Cream Sauce with long Skinny Noodles. This dish is not on their Menu. Ordinarily, I telephone the Restaurant two days prior and they will go out and purchase the fresh Lobster or Crab and it is delivered to my door.

  • Jordan Brown

I have been going to Red Diamond since I was a kid, and now this is my own family’s go to Chinese food restaurant. We bring our 3 year old and we all love it here! Their service is always friendly, and their Wor Wonton soup is the absolute best you will find. We also love their fried rice and their sweet and sour boneless pork. Yum!!

  • Dylan J

Absolute garbage. Ordered beef chow mein and when I got home it was a brick of instant noodles with 4 pieces of beef and a few vegetables thrown on top. I'm new to the neighbourhood and when I googled Chinese food the 5 star reviews won me over. I have to believe they are paying for the reviews. NEVER ordering from here again.

  • Lindsay Boe

It’s was very unenjoyable, food is all reheated , they just simply not busy enough to move there product. Web site says buffet , but when you arrive it’s not available . Do yourself a favour and pass this place by. Lady washroom was out of order to top off the experience, all that for $45 , first and last time for this one

  • Rebecca Lima

Excellent and attentive service, but the food was not good. Several of us in our large group did not enjoy it at all, and won't return. I will say that the others seem to enjoy it, and eat there on occasion, but my family was unimpressed, and kind of disgusted tbh.

I haven't eaten here, but I live a few blocks away and they're my go-to for takeout. The people who answer the phone are clear and efficient and have never gotten my order wrong. Pick up times are very quick (15-20 minutes) Prices are fair for the portions you get. My personal favorite is the Hot and Sour soup.

We had a wonderful experience at Red Diamond House. Our book club had the good fortune to meet the author of a book we read and we chose to do it at this restaurant. We booked the large round table in advance and received excellent service and food. It was a memorable evening and the perfect venue for it. More

I am gluten free (not by choice) and ordered the "Chicken & Mushrooms". Our server said the food was made to order; the meal was hot and delicious. The only thing that could be improved is the air conditioning. There were 14 of us at a table and it was hot and stuffy.
