Rest Haven & Majestic Mortuary Service charged me $2,100 to bury my uncle (2021). I had his body prepared for burial at Professional for separate cost. I buried my other uncle in 2018 for only $750. They don’t have any itemized pricing and charge you whatever they want. It’s terrible for people to be greedy and try to get over on people during a pandemic. My family previously purchased a plot & have a cemetery deed reserved for six people (all of which names are stated). I was told after two people are buried it’s an additional $850 for the third person despite the deed. $850 for interment, additional $850 increase for third person, & $400 for reuse (which is confusing since you’re paying additional already to add another person when the deed clearly states six individuals names). No pricing list for adding a name to a headstone either. I asked and it’s allegedly $325 & last time in 2018 it was $375. They throw out numbers & tell you it must be paid in full or they’re not burying your love one. DO NOT utilize their services!!! It’s already difficult & painful burying a loved one. It’s extremely sad that people are money hungry and cruel.

This is the worst place ever to bury your loved ones. They took almost a year to get me my father's death certificate. You have to call so many times just to try to get in touch someone and they never answer the phone. I purchased a tombstone online for my father but I was told because it was granite not bronze so I can't put it down. BRONZE only she told me is in the death certificate, but I never received it. I spoke with my family lawyer, He sent me a picture of rest haven cemetery online information stating granite or bronze. This lady deny that was the right information in a where did I get from. Our last conversation was you just have to take us to court that's what she told me so unprofessional.

I often speak with Ms. Cecilia at the office. She is always sweet and kind considering the lack of resources and staff. She always looks up all of my burials or returns my calls when I have questions about a plot at the cemetery. I think with the number of burials that this cemetery and other City ran cemeteries handle each week, the staff is always compassionate. This cemetery, like others, need more resources. The location isn't ideal, because of the environment. The City was aware of that when it was placed there. We are living amid water. We have to find an alternative burial site.

Resthaven Funeral Home sales lady gave the family a $15,000 bill for the cemetery and said "you might as well sign now because the price will probably go up another $1000 by the time we get back to the funeral home." Their best price on a stainless steel casket was around $3500 and had only one to pick from. One company online had 13 stainless to pick from for $1500. Shop online for you casket and vault before visiting the funeral home. Next day delivery and by law the funeral home has to accept them and not charge anything to receive them.

I have been waiting for over a month simply to find out what type of memorial/headstone my grandfather is able to have. Apparently the crew isn’t fully aware of what is possible at their own property nor are they willing to help the families that are grieving in showing respect for their lost loved ones. I just want to know what is possible so that I can order something for my grandpa.

I won't bury my dog there. It's dirty I don't even know how the dead can rest. The roads that lead to the gave site are dirty, the city of New Orleans should be ashamed.
