Title: A Lifesaver in Overalls: Martin and S&J Plumbing Working on a tight budget, my family and I were faced with a plumbing nightmare that threatened to damage our beloved home. Enter Martin, the hero in overalls from S&J Plumbing, who not only saved the day but also our house from impending water damage. From the moment he arrived, his professionalism and expertise were evident. Martin meticulously assessed the situation, explaining every step of the process, ensuring we understood the gravity of the issue. With his skilled hands and a calm demeanor, he swiftly fixed the burst pipe, sparing our home from further destruction. Martin's dedication to his craft and genuine concern for our well-being were palpable throughout the entire ordeal. His ability to work within our financial constraints without compromising on quality was truly commendable. Without a doubt, Martin and S&J Plumbing have earned our utmost trust and gratitude. Martin is friendly, explained what went wrong and how to fix, and fixed the tank leaking issue in 1.5 hours including going to the plumber store to get the replacement parts. It's quite pricey ($500+ for 1.5 hour of fixing work + .5 hour of pack up time). I was surprised that they counted in the pack up time (putting stuff back to their car) at the end and the time taken for them to issue the e-invoice, which took another 30 minutes on top of the 1.5 hours of fixing the issue. The reason I was so sure of the amount of time for their packing up was I happened to check on the progress when they told me they finished fixing it and will start packing up. Satisfied with the quality of the service but not the cost :)

We hired S&J to fix a hot water pressure problem and James diagnosed a defect with our tempering valve connecting the hot water tank. He replaced it with a Tomson brand 15nm tempering valve and charged us $440 for the valve and 40 mins of labour. In total he spent about 30 mins for diagnosis and 5-10 mins of actual valve replacement. We later learned that we were way overcharged. A valve like that should only cost around $100 and the entire job including the part should cost us $200-$300 based on the amount of time and labour. We were charged almost twice the amount of the industry standard. In the end, James got the job done but we are very disappointed by the price gouging.

$49 callout fee to let me know that the first hour of work is $500 and $150 per hour thereafter. $715 later to diagnose a blocked stormwater drain. They drilled two holes in the down pipes in order to do this and then advised me that I needed to patch the holes myself. To their credit, the gentleman that attended the site did advise me of the rates when he arrived. My question is - why couldn't the initial rate be disclosed to me over the phone?

We were very happy with the service S&J Plumbing provided. Booking was done with ease with Katie who was lovely to speak to. We had everything confirmed by text, and was notified of their arrival 45 minutes prior on the day. Our plumber Martin was very courteous and professional during the whole service. Martin arrived on time and fixed our running water issue on our 20+ years old toilet.
