I went with family - we brought children ages 5, 6, 7 & 10. The kids all enjoyed the experience. Information: Park in the Crown Plaza and have your parking validated. Plan to spend 1-1.5 hours there. We were there just over an hour and saw everything. We purchased combo Legoland/Sea Life tickets. Pros: They have a handout for the kids and “punch stations” throughout that encourage kids to read and learn about the animals and exhibits. There is a variety of sea life to look at, some very beautiful exhibits and the information is easy to read and understand - very age appropriate. There is a “touch” station and the kids enjoyed seeing what different creatures felt like. Cons: I expected to need to spend more time here, it was actually quite small. One of the punch stations for the kids’ activity was out of order. The entire sea turtle display was closed. The final station had iPads available and about 5/15 of the iPads were on and working. Final Thoughts: This was a neat experience, but once was enough. If you’re looking for an amazing aquarium and zoo experience, consider checking out the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. You very well might want to plan 2 days (not hours) & you still won’t see everything!

It was a cool little aquarium but i am giving two stars because of the price compared to how small it is. We paid $22 and change for 2 adults and 1 child (We got a discounted price because of the time we went; normally it's $25 per person). About $75 total after taxes, so we were both definitely expecting A LOT more. We went through the entire thing in maybe 30 minutes max and i was pretty disappointed since the reviews are so high. I don't think it is worth the price, but it's still a cool little experience. Just don't expect a lot because it is VERY small and a very short maze-style aquarium. After we got to the last room, my bf said "there's the exit" and i was in shock i said "no way... that's it?". I thought he was joking. Disappointing for sure but my daughter enjoyed it. I think it would be more fitting to charge maybe $10 per person instead of 25 because it is not much to see. There's some cool fish tho and some stingrays and jellyfish and a few other ocean creatures. I don't think i would go again just because it is over priced and not a lot to do or see. The KC zoo & aquarium is a much better deal for sure.

Reason for 4 stars was the price per time spent there. I've been to the Atlanta aquarium and you can spend all day there, wander around as much as you'd like, but this one was like a one way maze and not very big so it only took us an hour to get through which was disappointing and once you get to the end it's an exit to the gift shop. I would've given 3 stars if we paid full price but we had a discount coupon. There was a touch pool where the kids can touch a star fish and the Shark tank was cool but small. If you are trying to decide between here and Legoland I say do Legos, it's a little cheaper and you can spend as much time there as you want (you can at the aquarium too but you have to go back through the maze against the flow of traffic and once you've seen it you've seen it). The coolest part was getting to design your own fish at the end and setting it Free and the kids can watch it swim away on the wall.

A fun and colorful (though fairly short) visit and not overly expensive if you pair it with Legoland tickets. Positives: -Lots of species -Environments change often so you don't get bored -Plenty of hands-on areas -Traffic flows one way so it's easy to maneuver and keep track of little ones Negatives: -It can get LOUD in the small, enclosed areas. If your child gets overwhelmed easily, then I highly recommend ear plugs or some other sound blocker -I didn't see staff for most of the visit, so we couldn't really ask questions about the exhibits and many of the kids visiting were just kind of running around. It got pretty overwhelming since the walkways are pretty small -It's not a very long visit... we stayed about an hour

Fun little aquarium. Our oldest son loves fish and we try to hit up an aquarium while we are on trips. The only bad part is that you are guided through and end in the gift shop with no way to go back if you want to revisit an area. Our son has special needs and tends to like to revisit different tanks (sometimes several times) and we didn’t realize that once you make it through there was no going back through again. We go to the Shedd Aquarium a lot and are used to wandering around and revisiting different areas. This could be seen as a bonus for some and it does help it not become too crowded as the building itself isn’t as big as some other aquariums we’ve been to in the past. We also wish they had a separate prepaid line for admission. We had a nice time though.

  • Teddy Proctor

Single adult, no kids, it's 30mins of content Go with kids? Probably 1-2hrs depending on how long they spend at the touch pools and other activities. There are a lot of things specifically for kids that are pretty cool including two small exhibits with domes underneath that kids can look up through, a few interactive games, and a big took where kids can color in sea creatures on ipads. I just went by myself, and I was surprised by all of the creatures I had never seen before. I live in Maryland so I've gone to the national aquarium several times and sea life has a few they don't like lion fish for example. Very cool to see.

Tucked inside Crown Center area is a cool little place, Sea Life! From sharks to jellyfish and everything in between, Sea Life has amazing visual aquatic entertainment that will be sure to captivate your adventure side as you explore the depths of the sea without even getting wet. You can touch the stingrays and climb through tunnels while interacting with the sea life. After the tour we strolled through the gift shop. One side was Sea Life, the other side Lego Land. We picked a couple items and headed up to one of the four cashiers who checked us out with ease and pleasantries. Surely a memory not to be to soon forgotten. A great family place, education, and enjoyment.

  • John Byers

Staff was polite and helpful We met a young man who worked there named AJ he was absolutely spectacular in his knowledge and answered many questions as well as explaining lots of things about individual sea life we saw there. You could tell he really loved the job . He gets 5 stars from us also I rated the visit 4 stars but the only reason is that the surrounding area is quite a rough neighborhood and the streets are terrible. Not really the establishments fault but still the case. We had a great time there though

I have a family that enjoys Sea Life. We love to walk through and enjoy the beautiful creatures that are displayed. The staff is so friendly and seemed to be eager about to deliver information. This is important to me as my grandson loves to learn and will ask a lot of questions. I have never gone and felt uncomfortable or disappointed. Going is very relaxing and I am glad that we have an aquarium to enjoy. I wish the tour was much longer, but will be grateful for what we have at this time.

The kids really enjoyed themselves! We take them to different aquariums in different cities as a way to travel and see new places and things. I have to say that this aquarium was no different than the one at home (STL, MO). It took us about 30 to go through the whole place. Legoland is located in the exact same location, and that's great to know because we are bringing the kids back to visit very soon. Wish I knew of other places to visit but for a weekend mini vaca, it was nice.

This was an out of this world experience. My husband and I needed a get away and chose to stop at Sea Life. It was the best $50 we ever spent. It was very well laid out and the staff, even the new staff, knows so much about the areas they work. I have to say they must have the best jobs on this planet. Thank you to Charles and the others at the aquarium. I truly enjoyed our stop there. Your children will too. Thank you so much for a great time Sea Life staff.

Interactive rockpool was kinda lacking due to some of the spaces were closed off. Some tanks where empty. But the sea dragons were really interesting. Liked to have seen more sharks though. Also pretty neat seeing our interactive fish swimming on display. Finished the stamps n both my girls got a surprise at the end. Gift shop had several items that i wanted as well. Only took a lil over an hr for us to complete. Overall, its a really cool place n we all enjoyed it.

There were 2 really friendly and knowledgeable employees that I felt really made the experience for us. One was running the touch tank and the other wandering around telling facts about the fish. The second person even grabbed my 7 year old a paper to collect all the stamps in the aquarium. It was definitely worth the add on price from a Legoland ticket but it is a pretty small aquarium. You could easily do it in an hour we spent close to an hour and a half but my kids spent a lot of time coloring on the tablets in the last exhibit.

Decided to take a family adventure. Haven’t been here for a couple of years. I really enjoyed myself and the child did as well. The time was perfect. Parking was easy to find (under the garage, free on weekends) WOW. Upon entering the Sea Life KC, the customer service was TOO RELAXED. Step Up the Customer Service. Sea Life and Lego Land. The aquarium was very clean and didn’t smell of Ocean. The tour was only 1hr or so. Can’t wait to Return.

My absolute most favorite aquarium to go to in Kansas City and the surrounding area. They have quality trained and knowledgeable staff available to answer questions and a unique assortment of fish, mammals and other critters for your enjoyment. They even have sea dragons! Anytime you get a chance to go through this aquarium, you're greatly going to enjoy it. Go check it out and have a great time!

I loved the behind the scenes add on, and would definitely recommend that. The rest of this aquarium was a little underwhelming. It was very crowded, which wasn't my favorite thing at all. It felt like it caused everyone to rush through and there were so many children. I feel like the STL and Springfield aquarium have more fish variety, but for the cost, this one is decent.

One visit here is enough. There are lots of tanks with various sea life to see and some interactive areas but honestly this didn't excite my kiddos. We only spent about 30 minutes here, making it pretty pricey for a family of 5. Everything was clean and well kept and staff was friendly. Some areas are open and roomy, others were tight little walk ways making it a tight squeeze for folks with strollers. I'm glad we went to say we've been here but I wouldn't spend the money on a future visit.

  • Kristin R

I was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the aquarium, contrary to some of the reviews. It’s not huge, of course, but we really liked it. We were able to take our time and didn’t feel rushed at all. We went at 10 on Saturday of spring break and didn’t have much of a wait to get in or do any of the attractions. I had a 11 and 13 YO with me and they both said they’d do it again.

Sea life is an amazing place to hang out and get a wonderful experience watching sea lives. A lot of people don't know there are beautiful animals living inside the oceans, and you don't have to go into the ocean to see them. This is a great opportunity to explore sea lives and see how different species live their life into the ocean gether, happily.

We had a great experience, however I’m not sure it’s really worth the price for what you get. We took 5 kids ages 11, 9, 8, 3, and 10 months. There were several activities that piqued their interest, but we didn’t spend more than 1.5 hours there after paying so much. Our favorite part was where you could color a fish on the tablet and then see it appear on the screen. The kids all enjoyed the hurricane simulator. The gift shop was pretty reasonably priced!

  • Pauline Torres

Would recommend for younger kids, maybe elementary school aged. Took my teen there, and although she did have fun because she loves marine animals in general, this place is geared more for the younger ones. And look for “less than busier” times if you like to read everything. There is lots of great information all over. Have fun!

A small but well laid out aquarium. Lots of amazing animals to see. Very clean and well-kept exhibits. My granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the sea life. Definitely worth visiting. If you have children that love Legos it’s worth spending the extra money to get a pass to go to Legoland as well as Sea Life.

This was a fun little spot! Wide range of fish! Even some fresh water! Educational yet super fun. Enjoyable for adults as well. So happy my granddaughter had the chance to enjoy herself while visiting here from Ohio. We truly had a blast & thank you so much SEA LIFE for allowing us to make memories with her. The accommodations for wheelchairs are awesome. All you guys were wonderful. I’m sorry I forgot the older lady’s name at check out, but she has the best customer service hands down! Thank you again!

  • Jaimee Moody-Wright

As I've seen other people say, it is small. It is all one way traffic, not enough space to really enjoy it with out getting ran over by over excited, under parented, children. It is almost a maze and at the end your left wondering if it was really worth the price. Luckily, we bought the combo ticket for LegoLand as well for $35 but honestly, I think it is still over priced.

Aquarium was fairly small but decent for the price. Thought they would be a lot more to see. It was a lot of children activities to do. Very child friendly. They gave us a stamp booklet at the end once you fill it you get a sticker saying you completed the stamp booklet. It’s a great idea for little kids to stay informed and to read about the different type of sea life.

The kids loved it. We had my 10 year old’s birthday outing here and all the kids were very interested and entertained. Just a gem to have in KC. More

It’s a little too expensive for what you get but it was still a great time for the littles. Lots to look at and free parking!
