The only thing good about this parking lot is that it is close to Piers 33-39. As we were walking back to our parking garage we saw a guy breaking in to cars during broad daylight (1-2pm), no more than 100 ft away. He saw us looking at him and continued his B+E. Walking toward our garage near Pier 33 we noticed that he had broken into almost every car parked in the lot (him or others). There were no cops patrolling the area. We noticed cops tend to walk/patrol the Market Diateict near Union Square and Fisherman's Warf, basically wherever you'll find heavy tourist traffic and money making for businesses and the city. You won't see a cop car anywhere else really other than driving through the Tenderloin from time to time or hearing them in the distance. Bottom line, park in garages near tourist heavy areas or in areas that have security/personnel that walk the grounds.

This is an UN-manned outdoor parking lot. You park and pay a machine. I recommend you do not park here. 1. Charge is $40 per day versus INDOOR parking RIGHT THERE for $27 per day. 2. Right after I paid the $40, I noted the SFPD (police) speaking with another person who was almost a customer of the parking lot. They were discussing a 3rd vehicle that had JUST gotten broken into in broad daylight! The owner of that vehicle was not there. 3. The SFPD officer informed me that parking lot crimes (theft ) are not prosecuted. Unless the car itself is stolen. He could not recommend me parking in such a lot due to the sheer number of break-ins and thefts that occurred daily. It was totally random whether your car would be chosen or not. 4. At this point there was no way to retrieve my payment. Still, I relocated my vehicle to a nearby indoor parking garage for less $$$.

It does NOT matter if you have out of state or in state license plates. My car rental had CA license plates & it was broken into. Two(2) luggage out of four (4) were stolen and three (3) bookbags out of four (4) were stolen. As a Chicago resident where crime rates are high, San Francisco is just as horrible. When I switched rental cars, THREE (3) other cars were switching for the same reason, CAR BURGLARY! I was told by National Car Rental "we get about 20-30 a day". How the f is that even OKAY? When I went to file the police report, the couple in front of me was filing for the same reason. The city of San Francisco has NO city surveillance and car burglary is so COMMON. AVOID this parking lot PERIOD! Safe yourself and just UBER to the pier. Or do NOT carry SH*T in your car.

ATTENTION PLEASE Do not park here at all. There is so many car burglaries here even in board daylight to midnight at least 20 reports being filed. Save yourself that 40$ of parking pay because it will not justify the stay in that area and the stolen things that will be taken away from you and your family or friends ATENCIÓN POR FAVOR No aparques aquí en absoluto.

***TOTAL RIPOFF*** Credit card reader does not work, eats your cash. It wanted $37 or so for all day parking. I put in a $20 bill, and while looking for more small bills to pay the exact amount, the thing timed out, ate the $20 and gave me a "refund voucher" with a phone number that nobody ever answers. With no small change, and desperate to park and join our tour, I just put in two more $20 bills, which it gladly took in for our parking receipt to put on the window dash so our car would not get towed. $60 for all day parking here! ***TOTAL RIPOFF*** Parking is the #1 reason I hate visiting San Francisco.

2/23/2018 3pm I WAS ROBBED! Needed a lot for my oversized truck. Pulled into busy lot directed by man telling me where to park. He had on a parking lot jacket and said $25 to park. I only had $20s and gave him $40. He said he's here till 11p, he owes me change. Introduced himself as James. Came back after night Alcatraz tour to no attendant. As I walk around the lot looking for him I see the big ass signs that say "at no point should you give cash to anybody, use the machines". Missed the machine up front, missed the sign. Nice one James, nice one. Three stars: close to pier, not towed, great acting.

If you have the time to look then I would find somewhere else to park (such as the cheap parking meters scattered amongst the Wharf). But we did not have time since our tour was starting so we had no choice. The parking is convenient for the Alcatraz Tours (which is what we were running behind for). It's a flat (steep) rate of $39 for the whole day. We parked their at about 1:30p and returned after the tour and eating on the pier at about 6pm. Our car (which was a Dodge Challenger) was fine when we got back. No scratches and no broken glass. Park here only if you need to as a last resort.

  • Athena H

Parked here so we can walk over to pier 39. Tried their QR code posted on the posts in order to pay, but it did not work. Thankfully, there was a payment machine next to the parking lot entrance. We paid $20 since it was after 6pm on a weekend, & and it covered us until midnight to park here. Signs posted everywhere about not leaving valuables anywhere visible. We had nothing in there so nothing to see if anyone peeked in to our vehicles. We also parked under a well lit lamppost in the corner closest to the crosswalk to the Pier 39.

  • Nichole Quinn

Would NOT recommend. Our rental car was broken into and thankfully only a cooler bag of water was taken. The very next day several other cars were broken into and we watched someone bust into another. Cops don't do anything and tell you to fill out an online form for an incident report. Was also told the Property Manager goes early every morning to clean up the shattered glass all over the parking lot and sidewalks, but does nothing to prevent the break ins. Would prefer to leave no stars but have to when leaving a review.

  • SIMONA KASA

DO NOT PARK HERE. Our car windows got broken even though we did not have any valuables in the car. The parking lot is expensive and this vandalism is VERY OFTEN. DO NOT PARK HERE, PEOPLE!!! It was told us they look for electronics, money and passports. I have to laugh, because those thiefs took my luggage. DUMMIES, i hope you read this, because what was in my luggage was my underwear and bikini. You cannot even steal properly. Super DUMM, I am sure you cannot even fit into them. Enjoy, primitives

  • John H.

Arrived around 10 am and paid $60 and made sure I parked in a highly visible spot. I was lucky but on way back around 3 pm or so, an SUV had its back windows smashed and guessing suitcases stolen as there was a child carry on suitcase left just behind the SUV. It is ridiculous as it happened in broad daylight with cars going in and out of the parking lot. For $60, they could at a minimum have security guards or cameras and or gates installed. DO NOT USE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

  • Victor Torres

I was saved by SFPD they saw me pulling into the lot, while we were deciding if we were going to park, he informed us it probably wasn’t a good idea. He pointed out a car with (like mine) out of state plates and their back window was broken. They have a problem and I don’t think it will ever get better night or day it doesn’t matter. I got to get better about researching things, there are more secure spots. I feel sorry about the guy in the picture.

  • Chad Scribner

Rental vehicle with National was broken into and luggage was stolen out the rear windshield. Do not park anywhere near here or in the nearby parking garages. The city is not safe anywhere day or night for vehicles. It doesn’t matter if you have valuables or not. The police do not care!!! If you go to the police station they will make a “case report” which takes 2-4 weeks for it to be a police report with an investigator.

  • B N (JackaNapes)

$40 to park in all day. While waiting for our ferry to alcatraz a member of our group went back to the car for a moment, found that the windows of several cars around ours were busted. Several others were busted out while we were gone. Fortunately ours were left intact, but the uncertainty of having the rental car's windows busted out was like a cloud hanging over our entire trip to Alcatraz.

  • Mark Jansen

Theft in broad daylight: Two hours after parking here on a sunny weekday morning, I walked by the lot on my way to another destination and noticed several car windows along The Embarcadero were broken out. Luckily not mine. A shady crew of young adults were hanging out at the entrance/exit of the lot around 3:45 pm, revving their engines and being menaces. Plus the lot charges $37/day!

  • Scott Coble

This is a great place to park if you want everything in your car to get stolen. There were three cars that had things stolen while we were parking here. Police patrol the lots every 15 minutes, but thieves will steal anything and everything out of your vehicle here. We were lucky nothing was stolen. Cars were parked unlocked and windows down to try to park unbothered.

  • Giovanna Jaspid

BEWARE CAR BREAK INS!! We just parked our car there ($40 all day) to go to pier 33 alcatraz, and about 7 cars had their windows broken. After some minutes we saw 5 young men running around the cars looking through more car windows to break into more cars!! Incredible there is no security and the thiefs dont care if people are around, no police showed up either.

  • America Castellon

Very bad location to park, our rental was vandalized in broad daylight before 3pm and stuff stolen out of car, later that evening they they did the same to 10 cars including our pastors car and what they are doing is going around looking in people cars and breaking their windows and stealing, and they don’t care who is watching, BEWARE PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

  • Michaela Rybolt

I had a terrible experience parking here. Price ($40.44 for 3.75 hours) and location weren't bad, but when my friend and I returned to pick up my car, it was actively being broken into. If not for some very kind and loud locals, we might not've been able to get the perpetrator to go away. Terrifying for someone visiting San Francisco for the first time.

  • Nir Arad

It is an optimal parking location for Alcatraz tours. They will gladly charge you $45 for the whole day, guide you to a very specific parking spot, and wish you a wonderful day and joyful trip to Alcatraz. When you return you will find you car window was smashed and your belongings were stolen. Broad daylight, just in front of Bay street. Coincidence?

  • Arek O.

Zaparkowaliśmy tu aby zdążyć na prom do Alcatraz. Po powrocie zauważyliśmy wiele samochodów z wybitymi szybami. Parking bez żadnego dozoru, ogrodzenia, cena 40 dol. za cały dzień. Szokujące, że ani władze miasta ani policja ani właściciel tego parkingu nic nie robi, aby powstrzymać turystów przed kradzieżami i niszczeniem aut. Nie parkuj tam!

  • Corky Barder

Just as we paid $40 to park, a local stopped us, advised us not to park here. Said to look around at all the broken glass on the ground. Sure enough, so much broken glass , it was obvious back windows had been broken out. We elected just to eat the $40 and find a safer place to park. The city ought to shut this place down!

  • Heather Betzold

DO NOT PARK HERE!!!!! We had our rental vehicle broken into and all of our stuff stolen. The bus employee nearby that we talked to said that it happens everyday and we could not get the police to come. We had to file a claim online and now on day one of our vacation we are without clothing and all of our belongings.

  • Oganes Atanesian

Very bad location to park, high price $40 for 12 hrs. Plus a a car windiw was broken into and items were being stole. In front of our eyes. Overall we visited Alcatraz island tour came back around 8pm and saw 2 more cars were broke. Into. Bad place and too much. Park in your own will. Next time park somewhere else.

  • Bal

Please don’t park your car over there scammers all around. Pay machine have out of order signed. One black guy standing next to it said I'm supervisor over here . He took 30 dollar cash and provide me fake receipt . After few hours when i come back there is volition of $98 . Call the number but no one answer .

  • Meg Star

Parked here for an alcatraz tour, walked the pier, got dinner, went on the tour came back go window broken. Wish we would have looked up reviews for this parking lot. You'd think they'd put in some cameras, even fake to detour people at this point. Edit: Right across the street is a parking garage, park there.

  • Latisha Latiker

Only reason it got 1 star was so I could leave a review. For the love of God don't park here. My rental along with at least 3 others were broken into at this spot. Apparently it is a known crime spot that no one bothers to let tourist know. Lost passports and my son's entire luggage, etc.

  • Kara Marie

DO NOT PARK HERE. Honestly idk where is safe in this city.... 2 vehicles were vandalized and CLEARLY the cops aren't cracking down since every parking lot review says not to park there. These people get away with it and that's why it keeps happening. We need to make this city safer...

  • Jonathan Brown

Good parking location near pier 33 convenient to Alcatraz shuttles and not a bad walk to fisherman's wharf. Not a whole lot of parking spots though get there early also remember to get your parking spot number, you will need it for the machine and you pay in advance.

  • Yamara Gomez

Wish we would’ve seen the reviews before. Our car windows were smashed in broad day light. We made police report but nothing they could do about it. They said it’s one of the worst lots in the city. Will not be coming to this city again. Ruined our planned tours.

  • Jithin Emmanuel

Stay away from this parking lot. My car got broke in by breaking windows, while we were taking the ferry. There was one another car also which got broken in at the same time. Next day, when passing by the lot I noticed yet another car whose windows got broken in.

  • Samantha Child

This parking lot should have 0 STARS!! This is what will happen to your car if you park here. DO NOT PARK HERE! Even in broad daylight with people around this will still happen to your car! The people who own this parking lot should sell it to someone who cares.

  • Diana McClure

DO NOT PARK HERE! I wish I had read the reviews. A man took cash from us to park, said he would be there until 11pm and it was safe. Our rental car window was smashed and bags stolen from the backseat. Several other cars had the same experience.

  • Matt T

Like all the other reviews. DO NOT PARK HERE. Wish I had read it first. This parking lot is staked out by thieves. The parking lot owner knows this and they removed all security cameras and their “claims department” phone number is disconnected.

  • Sarah Priestley

Don’t park here. Broken into despite no valuables in the car and open glove box and center console to show no valuables in the car. Frequent break ins reported, not worth paying $40 to have your car broken into. Find a covered parking garage

  • Jaziel Brey

Very bad location. I felt unsafe. Be aware of the crime and a scammer or possible more operating on this parking lot. Don't pay anybody for parking other than to the machine. If a guy approach you call the police and report the incident.

  • Yasumasa Segawa

Like other reviews, DO NOT PARK HERE. Police officers said four cars including ours were under attack in 2 minutes due to professional criminals. Also, $48 on weekends are too expensive. In sum, you should find other parking lots!!

  • Anton Maier

Never park here!! They break the window of your car even during the daytime and when people are around and steal everything. We parked here for 30 minutes to go to Pier 39 and when we came back 4 cars were broken into.

  • M L

$50 for “all day parking” and it’s far from everything lol. But when you’re in SF (don’t let the locals hear you say “San Fran” or “Frisco”), the choices are grim for parking. It might be cheaper to Lyft to Pier 39.

  • Eddie Boal

Insanely expensive, $37 for 3hr/all day parking. The parking lot is way too crowded and you're bound to get stuck against other cars circling the lot. There's cheaper parking around if you have the time to look.

  • Dennis

  • Mr. Richman

Be aware of the crime and a scammer or possible more operating on this parking lot. Don't pay anybody for parking other than to the machine. If this guy will approach you then immediately call a police.

  • Jorge Luis vivi

EXTREMELY UNSAFE PARKING....! UNBELIEVABLE POLICE DO NOT TAKE ACTION TO CONTROL....! If you're on vacation and they notice that you have luggage most likely they will break your window to steal it.

  • Luis Fernando Franco

We parked here. Just when we were arriving to get the car, we experienced how to black guys broke two car windows to get their belongings and ran away in a car. It's not a cheap option either

  • Scott Swartzendruber

DO NOT PARK HERE!!! Hate to add my voice to the chorus. Thankfully nothing in the car to take. Broke the rear window and tried to find luggage in the back. Hope other people have better luck

  • Vadim Olari

Indeed! Totally agree with other comments, too much money for no safety, my car got broken into, luckily the bag they took had nothing in it. Park somewhere else don't pay for 0 security!!

  • John Clark

Do not park here!! The trashy people will break your windows and take your things. Police are nowhere to be found and will not help you. This was at 11:30 in the morning. Lawless city!!

  • Christine Canty

While getting ready to pay, we saw a man break the window out of a car steal a backpack right in front of us at 9:30 am. Decided not to park here. Not worth the damage. 5.18.23

  • Steve Ashley

Favorite lot for smash and grabs! Leave nothing in sight or you'll come back to broken windows and your stuff will be gone - our car was broken into between 1p-3p on a weekday!

  • Tiffany Rohrer

DO NOT PARK HERE unless you want your car broken into. 9 cars broken into at once including our rental and nothing was done. Save your money and park somewhere safer.

  • Kefin

Friend's car just got broken in. The burglar took everything. My friend and his family are leaving SF for travelling and now they no longer have their possession.

  • Panaipon Uawithya

Very expensive. Machine stops after inserting $21 and print out refund slip but can't get a refund from anywhere. Try the garage with attendant near pier 35.

  • Maryléna Bussières

Today we parked our car, our window was broken when we came back(15h)... they stole our bag. They were looking for passport. and 8 others cars were damaged.

  • Matthew Aubele

Three different cars broken into less than an hour before we arrived, according to their tickets on their dashboards. This was on a Saturday around 1000.

  • Christine Johnson

DO not park here! Smashed windows. Bags stolen in broad daylight. No police anywhere. I do not recommend anywhere in San Francisco. Very unsafe area.

  • Andrew Bard

DO NOT PARK HERE: We parked today... Our back window was broken out along with three others. This was in broad daylight on a Wednesday afternoon.

  • D

Unfortunately, we have to add to the long list of people who had their car broken into. Definitely advise to find an alternative place to park.

  • Fabrice BONNEAU

La meilleure adresse pour se faire casser les vitres de la voiture et se faire voler. Toutes les voitures y passent. Garez vous ailleurs

  • Franciny Solano

Worse experience. Our car and 10 more got break in while we were in the ferry. Do not use these people. They not even answer the phone

  • Neil Bear

Just like EVERY OTHER REVIEW. DO NOT PARK HERE. BROKEN INTO. Makes me think the owners of the lot have something to do with it.

  • Cho Yk

  • Chris wigfall

Car broken into on a weekday. Not safe to park here anytime of the day. Trust and read other reviews before parking here.
