Are Spark Parks for the public? There is only ONE park in our neighborhood and it is the Spark Park next to Roberts Elementary. For the last few years it has been closed to the public during weekdays except after 6pm when the last kids leave the grounds, and open to the public all day Saturday and Sunday. Houston does not have a great network of parks like other cities do, namely Austin and Denver, and this is the only park in our neighborhood within walking distance.
SPARK, the graffiti you coordinated and funded at Deady Middle School is a racist stereotype. No - Latinos do not want graffiti style anything destroying our beautiful schools. That you had children spray painting their own school is just disappointing. Please restore Deady Middle School to its pre graffiti beauty. STOP painting our tax payer purchased schools with murals.
We lived close to a spark park in Oak Forest and loved the benefit of our toddler playing on the fabulous playset. I now live in Katy, Texas, which needs to adopt the Spark program!
One of Houston's most awesome organizations, SPARK helps convert outdoor school spaces to parks for the community's use during non school hours.
